Seicho no Itami is a series of Naruto Continuation Fic by MarvelHero1610 (who also goes by FantasticMrMac on Archive) that takes place seventeen years after the end of the series, though it seems to more precisely take place directly after the defeat of Kaguya and is somewhat of an Alternate Universe seeing as though it doesn't really keep anything that Chapter 700 shows in the future of Naruto.

The first story follows Sasuke Uchiha, happily married to Sakura and the father of three children, Takuma, Kichiro and Hikari. The initial chapter opens up happy and sweet, showing the day to day lives of Sasuke and his family. However, things take a big turn with the arrival of Karin and her and Sasuke's bastard son, Sosei who have fled from Kirigakure from some unknown threat. Sasuke is forced to deal with threats to his family, both emotional and physical...and the story goes on from there.

The sequel follows two years after the end of the first story and follows Sasuke's sons as they deal with some very...traumatic things. Things are much more focused on the sons than Sasuke, though both he and Sakura get a few spots where their POVs are necessary.

The third and final entry into the saga rakes place five years after the first sequel.

Troper's note: This trope page is chock full of spoilers, so it is probably for the best if you read it then come back here.

The Seicho no Itami series, provide examples of the following tropes:

  • Aloof Big Brother: Subverted. Sosei appears to be this way towards his half-siblings, however he has relatively close relationships with them, especially his baby sister, Hikari, and Kichiro. As Hensou finds out, Sosei is very protective of them.
  • Badass Boast: Sasuke delivers several, though his best one comes in Chapter 6.
Assassin: The person who sent me doesn't want me to return to them until I've completed the mission assigned to me. If that means cutting you down in the process, then so be it. They'll be pleased, I can guarantee that.
    Sasuke: Fine. 'Get past me.
  • Berserk Button: Threatening Sasuke's family. Just. Don't.
    • Also, taunting Sosei in any shape or form.
    • It seems that all Uchiha suffer from this because even the mild-mannered Takuma gets ready to punch a kid for taunting him.
  • Black Cloak: When Sosei goes to confront Hensou, he wears a black cloak from his ANBU garb.
  • Book Ends: The first chapter ends with Sasuke happily thinking to himself how much he loves his "boring" life as a husband and a father. After all that transpires in the story, when things go back to relative peace and normality at the end, Sasuke once again states how much he loves his "boring" life.
    • Bonus points to him being either in mid-coitus or post-coitus with Sakura in both instances.
  • Bullying the Dragon: Anyone that tries to physically intimidate or verbally insult any of the Uchiha.
    • The guy that gets it the most though...Hensou
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Multiple examples, especially in-canon with Naruto/Hinata and Sasuke/Sakura. Sasuke and Sakura both point out that Takuma and Honami's friendship may turn into this.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Shogo is the lowest ranked student in Takuma's class, though it's because he's a civilian with no real chakra manipulation ability. However, he is a genius. Genius enough to construct tactics and strategies based around Takuma, Honami and his own abilities in order to try and pass Sasuke's bell test. It almost works.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Sasuke vs the assassins that invade his home.
    • Sosei vs Takuma I, even though it's just a sparring match, there's no doubt who wins.
  • Darker and Edgier: The sequel, Brotherhood, is this to the original story.
  • Determinator: Sasuke's entire character is stubborn. There is essentially nothing that can or will stop Sasuke from finding out who threatens his family. Not a plea from his wife to be patient or a direct order from the Hokage.
  • Fantastic Nuke: Kirin. Sasuke has to carefully narrow the scope of his attack to keep from destroying his home as well as a small portion of Konoha.
  • Flash Step: Sasuke is particularly fond of this. Used in conjunction with his Rinnegan technique, Amenotejikara, it makes Sasuke virtually untouchable.
  • Game-Breaking Injury: During his fight with Yashin, Sasuke's arm gets broken and his entire side is charred and chewed up to the point that his ribs are showing.
  • Generation Xerox: Of sorts.
    • With Sasuke's children, Takuma is The Ace that his uncle Itachi was, but when Sosei arrives, Takuma begins to develop the same inferiority complex that Sasuke had as a boy.
    • Kichiro is exactly like Sasuke was at his age, though Sasuke believes his cheerful and loud persona comes directly from Naruto, somehow.
    • Sosei is exactly like Sasuke in both his desire for power to exact revenge and his personality. He gets better though.
    • Naruto's daughter, Honami, possesses the same red hair that her grandmother had and is something of a Hyuga prodigy like her deceased uncle Neji and aunt Hanabi.
    • Shogo is like a mixture of a young Naruto and Shikamaru mashed into one, being the literal worst in his class at jutsu, but is so intelligent and analytical that he can mkae strategies based on his teammates' techniques and his opponents by just seeing them once. This helps him in spades during his Chunin Exam fight.
    • Naruto himself uses his father's trademark Flying Raijin technique and has multiple key locations marked throughout the village in case of emergency and just for convenience's sake.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: The curse of the Uchiha seems to be this as through their efforts to protect his family, Sasuke seems to flirt with the line. Sosei damn near crosses it, only saved by the fact that his target genuinely deserved it.
  • Love Makes You Crazy: Sasuke shows various signs of suffering from this, due to being an Uchiha and finally having a family.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: The Three Deaths.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Sasuke has multiple moments of this.
    • The first being in the past. Sasuke killed Yashin's father and this sort of seeds Yashin's hatred of Uchiha, along with Madara killing his mother.
    • Sasuke's impatience and interrogations of prisoners leads to an entire prison block being destroyed. Naruto properly calls him out on this.
    • His negligence towards his children is another point of contention and causes Sosei to call him out on it when he believes Takuma committed suicide because he wanted his father's love so much.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Sasuke thinks this of Yashin. Both are driven by horrific events and the death of their families. And both go off on the deep end to obtain power.
  • Oh, Crap!: One would imagine this expression on Yashin's face when Kirin forms in the sky. The lightning dragon pinpoints him crashes directly into his body.
  • Papa Wolf: Sasuke is this in spades. He may seem a bit cold and treat his sons rather roughly when training them, but don't ever threaten them or you'll get a face full of Amaterasu.
  • Protect This House: Epic example. Sasuke and Sakura briefly team up to get assassins out of their home.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Whenever Sasuke activates his Sharingan, things are going to get a bit ugly.
  • Rocket Punch: A twisted version of this. During his fight with Sasuke, Yashin's arm gets lopped off. What does he do? He uses an explosive tag-like technique and throws his detached arm at Sasuke.
  • The Dreaded: It's suggested by Naruto that Sasuke is this for the world when Sasuke asks to be sent as an emissary. Considering his past, it's no wonder everyone is pretty much terrified of him.
  • The Rival: Hajime Hyuga is developing as this to Takuma. From their first interaction onward, it is very clear that Hajime simply doesn't like Takuma and the young Uchiha is not a fan of Hajime at all, especially after he insults Honami.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Essentially any character in the story that decides to fight head on against Sasuke, but special mentions goes to the assassins that infiltrate Sasuke's home. Not only do they attempt to fight Sasuke, but they threaten to slit Hikari's throat. Needless to say, it does not end well.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Sosei in Brotherhood. He goes from being a strong child, but implied to be much too weak to avenge his mother himself to being strong to essentially manhandle a top genjutsu specialist that Naruto said would give him a bit of trouble.
    • Granted, Naruto has never been all that good at genjutsu...
  • Wham Line: Komuji, Kakashi's son, drops this one.
    • "The Village Hidden In The Mist doesn't exist anymore. It's nothing but ruins."
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: All of Sasuke's sons have this mentality. All of them seek praise and recognition from Sasuke but in a way, they all also seek to be acknowledged by each other.
  • Woobie Destroyerof Worlds: Yashin. His parents were killed by Uchiha. His father was a samurai that Sasuke killed when he invaded the Five Kage Summit. His mother joined the Alliance to get revenge for her husband's death, only to be killed when Madara is resurrected. This makes Yashin really hate Uchiha and one can understand why.
