The Heroine

Konoha no Senkou Arashi is a Naruto Fan Fic by Minion of Set.

She's finally become a shinobi, after years of acting the fool. Well, mostly acting anyway... FemNaruto. NaruSasu.

Takes place in an AU where Naruto has been born a girl. Hinata and Naruto have been friends since early childhood and found out the secret behind which teams are assigned. Hinata strives to become the Top Kunoichi of the graduating class while Naruto permits herself to be the Dead Last of the class.

Similarly to canon, Uchiha Sasuke is the Top Shinobi of the graduating class. Hinata, Naruto, and Sasuke end up on Team Seven under Hatake Kakashi.

Currently on hiatus so the author can focus on his original work.

This fic contains examples of the following tropes:

• Arranged Marriage: Hinata is actually trying to arrange one for herself, as she realizes she must continue her clan line but wants to do it on her terms. Her primary candidate was Sasuke, though she eventually decided against him in consideration for Naruto's feelings. Among her other other candidates are Shino, Kiba, Shikamaru, Kakashi and Haku. Interestingly, Hinata isn't against Marrying For Love as she plans to build a relationship instead of waiting for it to happen.
• Arson, Murder, and Admiration: Sasuke's reaction to Hinata and Naruto gaming the team selection process:
  Sasuke: It's a callous, manipulative way to get the desired result. Nice.
• Big Brother Mentor: Sasuke to Inari; the latter calls the former "Aniki".
• Blade Below the Shoulder: Both Naruto and Hinata. Naruto has four in Shishi. Hinata has two under her sleeve in the style of an assassin; and they might be cursed.

• Character Development: While Sasuke's still rather arrogant, his relationship with Naruto and Hinata (and Inari to a lesser extent) has thawed him out and forced him to reevaluate his life to an extent: he still wishes to kill Itachi and avenge his clan, but now recognizes his limits and is more open and friendly with his team and others.

• Chick Magnet: Sasuke's status as this is dissected in Chapter 9 by Hinata, explaining why he has so many fangirls despite not encouraging their attentions.

• Cool Teacher: Kakashi takes a more active role in training his team since their basics are all solid. (As opposed to in canon where Naruto lacks heaven and Sakura lacks earth.)
• Curb-Stomp Battle: Hinata delivers these to her teammates whenever they spar in taijutsu.
  • Naruto gives one to Ino, when the latter challenges the former for Sasuke. Naruto was resigned to spar, until Ino refused to put her headband on, prompting Naruto to use her real skill. Then Ino insulted her best friend.
  • Hinata receives one herself from Neji.
• Dance Battler: Naruto. Her taijutsu essentially harnesses her unpredictability into a disciplined but free-flowing style of spinning and flips. Its basis is Baguazhang.
  • The author points out that Baguazhang is the basis of Airbending in Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Considering Naruto's natural wind affinity, the connection is very appropriate. Guy even dubs Naruto's style the "Gale Lotus."

• Did You Just Romance Cthulhu?: Naruto is not really the Kyuubi, but people think she is and thus most of the village likely views their relationship as such.
• Distracted by the Sexy: The Oiroke no Jutsu in this continuity creates an army of nearly naked Yondaime Hokages and it still works on Ebisu! According to Naruto, it's basically a weaponized version of Stupid Sexy Flanders.
  Naruto: Everyone's gay for the Yondaime!

• Everyone Can See It: The only one that couldn't tell Sasuke likes Naruto was, of course, Naruto.

• Flaming Sword : Sasuke uses a wakizashi. Which he can set on fire.
• Four Is Death: Naruto's four-bladed Shishi is a pun on this, and the word "Lion". The 四 character is "four", the 死 character is "death". 四死 means "Four Deaths" but is pronounced the same way "Lion" is.
• Funbag Airbag: An exhausted Naruto uses Hinata's breasts as "pillows" after her training with Ebisu, much to Hinata's embarrassment.
• Genki Girl: Naruto is very bubbly and almost never runs out of energy.

• Harmful to Minors: Sasuke's brilliant idea to tie up the man who killed Inari's father, and order the boy to kill him to avenge Kaiza. Thankfully, Inari refuses, and Sasuke realizes his mistake.
• Heiress To The Dojo: Hinata's position as the Hyuuga heiress has been cemented by her increase in ability. And Hanabi has the Caged Bird seal as a result.
• Heterosexual Life-Partners: Hinata and Naruto, who have been conspiring together for most of their academy years and make for an effective pair of fighters to boot.
• If You Ever Do Anything to Hurt Her...: Hinata gives this to Sasuke in regards to Naruto. Justified because she knows about the Mangekyo Sharingan, and the prerequisite for unlocking it.
• Instant Expert: Naruto uses the kage bunshin to accelerate training.
• Internal Reformist: Hinata is working towards desegregating the Hyuuga clan and abolishing the system of the branch family.
• It's Not You It's Itachi: One of Sasuke's arguments against pursuing a relationship with Naruto is that Itachi would target anyone close to him. Understandable, considering the massacre of his clan.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Sasuke can be abrasive and snide but considers his team's safety top priority. And he's trying to drop most of the "Jerk" part.
• Kleptomaniac Hero: Naruto is developing a habit of looting beaten enemies.
• The Lad-ette: Naruto is an early teenaged version.
• Locked Out of the Loop: Naruto is the only one on the team that doesn't know Sasuke's brother massacred the Uchiha clan.
• Love at First Punch: Sasuke's attraction to Naruto started after she hogtied and kidnapped him.
  • Lee asks Naruto to go out with him after she wins her match with him; Naruto gently declines because of Sasuke.
• Manipulative Bitch: Hinata, though almost always in the interest of others. Especially Naruto.
• No Guy Wants to Be Chased: At least, not Sasuke, who hates the stalker-like tendencies of his fangirls. The fact that Naruto doesn't go this route is one of the reasons he ends up falling for her.
• No One Gets Left Behind: Sasuke is inspired to adopt this mindset after listening to Kakashi's tale of Obito's death. He even considers Obito an ideal Uchiha for his actions.
• Obfuscating Stupidity: Naruto is quite sharp, and her friendship with Hinata helped her grow beyond Dead Last in skill. She pretended to be barely competent enough to graduate, ensuring her spot on the same team as Hinata.
• Official Couple: The Author has explicitly stated in the synopsis that the pairing is Sasuke/Fem!Naruto.

• The Resenter: Neji, as in canon. The more confident and forceful Hinata still has to put up with his attitude despite her working to dissolve the branch system.
• Retcon: The fic has undergone several significant changes in revision.
  • In the original posting of the story, Naruto failed the exam and learned the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu in the same manner as in canon. She failed despite that her control was much better than in canon, and she had Hinata helping prepare her for a test anticipated years in advance. This was changed to Naruto passing the exam by making ten clones. Mizuki stole the scroll while the Hokage was preoccupied speaking with upset shinobi protesting Naruto becoming a ninja. She follows Iruka, and events play out with the same end results as in canon: Naruto is told about the Kyuubi and learns Shadow Clones.
  • Initially, during the Wave Arc, Naruto encountered a Sound ninja Gatou hired to help abduct Tazuna's family. In the revision, this ninja is replaced by Aoi Rokusho.
• Secret Secret-Keeper: Hinata is this until chapter 7, where she reveals to Sasuke she knows about the Mangekyo.
• She Is Not My Girlfriend: Sasuke claims this about Naruto when Inari points it out.
  Sasuke: Our relationship is completely professional!
• Shout-Out: Tenten briefly uses a spear named Hozukimaru.
  • When Sasuke calls Hinata a cutthroat bitch.

• Spared by the Adaptation: Haku and Zabuza, largely because of the more competent Team 7 giving a much harder fight and Gatou hiring Aoi to kill whoever wins their fight on the bridge.

• Tell Me How You Fight: Tenten's years of training with weapons allows her to discern which one would be appropriate for her opponents after she fights them. This is how Naruto got her "tiger claws" in the back story.
• Thinking Tic: Hinata developed one, changing her gesture of Shy Finger-Twiddling into one of plotting.

• Took a Level in Badass: Team 7 itself is much more capable than in canon, as it lacks a third member that can't do anything. Each genin grows stronger faster than canon, but Hinata is the standout case, Naruto's friendship having given her confidence years before graduation.
  • Not so much "badass" as "actually being useful", but Sakura herself has begun her medical training early in this continuity and with added genjutsu training from her sensei Kurenai; this happens because Kurenai wisely points out to Sakura that Sasuke won't be interested in her unless she improves herself.
• Took a Level in Kindness: Sasuke. He mellows out a bit and learns to look outside of himself.
• Tsundere: Naruto. Usually on the dere side unless provoked. Usually by Sasuke.
• Unskilled, but Strong: Hinata has put great effort into ensuring Naruto averts this, teaching her chakra control exercises at a young age and making sure Naruto maximizes her potential.
  • The aversion is taken even further when Ebisu gives Naruto a training session of high-level chakra control using shadow clones, resulting in her control advancing by years.
• UST: Naruto and Sasuke. Starting with their accidental first kiss, escalating with a second surprise kiss Sasuke initiates, which only confuses them both. Resolved with a mutual third kiss as they both decide to hold off on dating for the sake of accomplishing their goals.
• Verbal Tic: Like, Naruto has this sometimes, ya know?
• Violently Protective Girlfriend: Sasuke invokes this to get rid of his fangirls, offering a date to any girl that can beat Naruto.
  • In turn, Sasuke comes this close to attacking Lee when he hits on Naruto. It borders on Yandere, actually.
• Weak, but Skilled: Hinata is expressly stated to be this, relying less on speed and chakra output and more on precision.

• Would Hit a Girl: Sasuke doesn't have a problem punching either of his teammates. They can take it.
