An Avatar: The Last Airbender fic with an AU slant, written by Sara Jaye. This story works under the premise of Mai joining Zuko on his, er, redemption quest; it started off as a one-shot that grew into a series of unsorted drabbles, then a chronological series of drabbles for the rest of its Book One counterpart.
With that finished, though, the author decided the next two books will consist of longer chapters and a less episodic format. The heroes will eventually be brought into the fold near the end of Book Two, and by Book Three the focus will shift from Mai and Zuko alone to their interactions with The Gaang and the unification of both sides as a team. Book Three will also contain marked differences in episode order and pacing.

- Fix Fic: Admittedly, the story's version of S3 is also what the author would have liked to see in terms of pacing and development.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Iroh doesn't die, but he lets himself be captured and arrested so Mai and Zuko can escape with the Gaang in the season 2 ending. Zuko doesn't take this well.
- Standard Female Grab Area: Zhao tries to use this on Mai only to get a nice kick in the nads for his trouble.
