Fanfic / His Honor, The Mayor, Drew Lipsky?

Go To

His Honor, The Mayor, Drew Lipsky? is a Kim Possible Reconstruction fanfic whose basic premise is that the stories we know from the episodes of the cartoon were written by Ron, based on Kim's actual adventures.

The story begins with a practical joke at Drakken's expense by Shego goes out of hand, leading to him having a real chance at becoming mayor of Middleton. Meanwhile, Kim is bedridden after getting injured during a mission and has to deal with all the injuries (and other problems) caused by her hero life catching up to her. Has two sequels: My Fiance, the Supervillain and Open Lair.

his fanfic provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Deviation: Justified by the Show Within a Show premise — a lot of stuff Ron wrote was written based on his point of view and some things were made up to make a better story.
  • Assassination Attempt: Gemini tries to assassinate Drakken at a party only for it to backfire, resulting in Gemini being nearly killed by his own missles and getting arrested.
  • Black Comedy Pet Death: Cousin Shawn's pet Iguana died when it ate a WWEE fly on the wall cam and it self-destructed.
  • Brainwash Residue: One of the many, many problems plaguing Kim from her hero career. She's been affected by Mind Control so many times that it's done some lasting damage, and sometimes suffers blackouts where she acts on her subconscious impulses before snapping out of it and forgetting it ever happened.
  • Briefcase Blaster: The WWEE agents from the Tokyo mission got burns from the suitcases containing the missiles for Gemini's Puppet Gun. The ones at the party were given fire retardant costumes.
  • Cop/Criminal Family: Turns out that Drakken's uncle, Frederick Lipsky, is Chief Inspector General of Global Justice.
  • Create Your Own Hero: Turns out sabotaging the Mc Henry laser grid incident was the initiation mission into WWEE for the current Alpha.
  • Dreadful Musician: Apparently, Senior Jr's singing voice used to be even worse before puberty. Wade shows Kim and Ron a video from a talent contest he sang in as a child, which apparently causes pain to dogs for several miles like a dog whistle. It also inadvertedly saves Kim from some injected nanites due to them being sensitive to ultrasound and malfunctioning.
  • Embarrassing Tattoo: Summer Gale apparently has one on her butt.
  • Explosive Leash: Someone put nanites into Kim that would put her in a coma on command. Fortunately, they were vulnerable to high frequency sounds like Senior Jr's singing voice, which caused them to misfire and knocking her out temporarily, but also led to her finding out about them early. Though it did leave Kim vulnerable to high-pitched noises for some time afterward due to not all nanites being triggered at once.
  • Fake Crossover: Kim and Ron mention encountering other heroes on their adventures.
  • False Rape Accusation: Drakken's competitors bribe a waitress at the halloween party to lie about him molesting her. But due to Gemini's Assassination Attempt, he ends up saving her life, leading to her not going through with it.
  • Friendly Enemies: Wade has a relationship like this with the Middleton Cyber Crimes unit due to some of the stuff he had to do to help Kim. His mom treats them like guests whenever they come over.
  • Glass-Shattering Sound: When Kim and Ron catch Bonnie and Senior Senior Jr. in a van doing each other's hair, they scream so loud that it pulverizes the van's bulletproof safety glass.
  • Immoral Journalist:
    • Richard Carrol, a classmate of Kim and Ron's who goes by the aliases "Buzz" and "The Buzzard", writes about things Ron leaves out of his stories, including things that shouldn't be in there like private information. He likes writing about Kim's injuries in particular.
    • Summer Gale in My Fiance, the Supervillain tries to get scandalous information on various celebrities, including members of the Hero and Villain comunities.
  • Implausible Deniability: When Drakken and Shego return to the lair after an attempted heist on one of Dementor's labs, Shego, who is intoxicated from one of Dementor's mutant plants ends up accidentally shooting down one of Gemini's stealth drones, which Gemini uses as an excuse to try to assassinate them. Shego notes that a) Gemini would have still claimed the same thing if he had the drone fly into their lair and open fire on them, and b) they were flying over the ocean with nothing around them for miles, making it look like he purpousely sent the drone after them in the first place, it later turns out she was correct in that Gemini wanted to Make It Look Like an Accident in an attempt to force all the independent villains to be part of WWEE.
  • Incredibly Obvious Bug: Invoked by Jim and Tim. They want to stop Buzz from posting fake stories so they give him a listening device that is meant to be found easily to get him in trouble.
  • Mayor Pain: What Kim thinks will happen if Drakken's elected. It's averted when it turns out he's actually good at it.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Kim is slowly starting to run into this problem as her villains start getting Genre Savvy.
  • Number Two: Both Dr. Director and Gemini have someone working directly under them. They're actually brothers trading information with each other to get promoted.
  • Obstructive Bureaucrat: Shego ends up running into one of these while trying to get the paperwork to cancel Drakken's application for mayor. When Shego asks if the forms have to be signed in triplicate, the woman lets out an Evil Laugh, making Shego hang up.
  • Loophole Abuse: The reason why Shego's prank went the way it did — due to some old laws no one bothered to repeal (which is because they made sense at the time and thought wouldn't be relevant ever again), there's nothing disqualifying Drakken from running for Mayor of Middleton.
  • Loosely Based On A True Story: Some of the details in the fic are different from the cartoon due to this. This is justified as Ron has to keep things like classified information or people's private information out of them.
    • Gemini's prosthetic hand is a Puppet Gun that fires homing beacons for the missle turrets he keeps around his lair because it's easier than building a prosthetic hand with a micromissle launcher that has a high ammunition capacity.
    • The super suit Kim was wearing while fighting Dementor didn't belong to her — she was field testing it for some company when the mission with Dementor came up and the company asked her to use it then.
    • At one point, Kim suffers a nightmare where she's playing a gameshow that has trivia questions about her missions, with the answers being either what actually happened or what Ron wrote happened.
    • The events of Kim Possible Movie: So the Drama were exaggerated from 'Grand Theft' to 'World Conquest'. In addition, Kim and Ron apparently had been dating for at least two years before the story.
  • Not That Kind of Doctor: In "Open Lair", Shego asks if there's a medical doctor at a party full of Mad Scientists, getting a lot of blank stares in response.
  • Papa Wolf: In chapter 6, Joe Geary Jr. is determined to one-up Senor Senior Jr., nevermind that his own competitiveness is endangering his own family, that both Senor Senior Jr. and the Rockwaller family are in a precarious situation due to his burner controls malfunctioning, or that Kim and Drakken are trying to save all three parties. Senor Senior Sr., angry at the threat to his son's life, threatens to have Joe Geary Jr.'s hot air ballon shot down with a drone if he continues delaying Kim and Drakken's rescue any further. Joe Geary Jr. immediately complies.
  • Planet of Hats: The aliens responsible for Team Go's powers specialize in Enlightened Self-Interest and The Barnum. They try to help other races, but always in ways that benefit themselves more than their help is worth. When Bernie questions why one of them is telling her this, he notes that his family consider him an embarassment due to his extreme honesty.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Some of Ron's stories are influenced by events in real life.
    • Monty Fisk retired from villainy after it became clear Ron was the Chosen One and he realized he couldn't compete with him. "Oh No Yono" was written to write him off the show.
    • The reason Gemini and WWEE were in only one story was because Global Justice forbade Ron to write about them due to it boosting their recruitment.
    • Ron wrote "Grande Size Me" because one of his relatives was diagnosed with a health condition that was exacerbated by a bad diet, and he's afraid he might come down with it too.
    • Ron got the idea for Warhok and Warmonga from some animatronics Dementor made for a movie company to make extra cash. Dementor being obsessed with the suit and not showing up as often as Drakken in Ron's stories is also due to a settlement with Ron over a misunderstanding, as well as Dementor losing his assets to his sister respectively.
  • Unholy Matrimony: It turns out Dementor's sister is married to Gemini.
  • Villainous Rescue: This happens a few times due to contrived circumstance.
    • Drakken gets roped into helping Kim rescue Senor Senior Jr., the Rockwaller family (including Bonnie), and the Greary family from a hot air balloon accident, Senior Senior Sr. also helps via telepresence drone.
    • Later, Drakken saves Kim's life when she suffers a Heroic BSoD and wanders into freezing weather without proper clothes.
  • Waking Up at the Morgue: Someone tranqilizes Summer Gale to prevent her from leaking the story of Drakken's engagement early.
  • Wandering Walk of Madness: Kim suffers a Heroic BSoD and wanders into a blizzard without the appropriate clothing; she ends up having to be rescued by Dr. Drakken.
  • What You Are in the Dark: Bonnie tries to make a Heroic Sacrifice to save her family at a fashion show she's taking part in by helping Kim lock themselves in an airtight room with what she thinks is a poison gas bomb about to go off. The canister turns out to be full of nanomoths.
