On Halloween in 1981, Peter Pettigrew decides to visit Lily and James Potter, his friends from Hogwarts, who are in hiding from the dark wizard Lord Voldemort. What the Potters don't know is that Peter has betrayed them to Voldemort, who is planning that very night to come and kill the Potters and their one-year-old child, Harry. But when Voldemort shows up, Peter has a change of heart and sacrifices himself to save the Potters.
With his parents still alive, how does the life of Harry Potter change? How does it stay the same?

- Adaptation Name Change: Several in the epilogue:
- James Sirius becomes James Henry and Lily Luna becomes Lily Ginevra, but the biggest departure is Albus Severus becoming Peter Regulus.
- Hermione hyphenates her last name rather than changing over to Weasley.
- Adaptational Sexuality: Sirius is gay, and Lupin, Harry, and Cedric are all bisexual.
- And Now for Someone Completely Different: When the events of a chapter don't deviate significantly from the source material, the perspective will sometimes shift to another character to get another angle on what's going on.
- Canon Immigrant: Delphi Lestrange crosses over from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. By the time Regulus finds out about her from Bellatrix in chapter two of Nineteen, she's already lived the first year of her life with Euphemia Rowle, and she's adopted in short order by Tonks, Sirius, and Remus.
- Doorstopper: The complete series comes in at 1,158,491 words — without factoring in the Vignettes side series, which adds almost 16,000 more as of June 2023.
- For Want Of A Nail: Peter Pettigrew's choice to betray Voldemort and save the Potters has dramatic ripple effects.
- Long Runner: The series began in May 2014 with Gryffindor Blood and ended in May 2023 with chapter four of Nineteen.
- Non-Indicative Title: Sadly, not quite everyone lives — the casualties so far are Peter Pettigrew, Bertha Jorkins, Barty Crouch, Sr., Barty Crouch, Jr., and Albus Dumbledore.
- One-Steve Limit: Averted, there are two original characters named Anne.

- Anne Scrimgeour, a Slytherin who's a seventh-year Prefect during Chamber of Secrets, and goes on to work for the Auror department.
- Christian and Anne Thelborne, Gryffindor siblings. Christian becomes a Hit Wizard after graduating.
- Spared by the Adaptation: James and Lily Potter from the very outset, and additionally Cedric, Sirius, and Regulus!
