Darling in the FranXX: Homecoming
is a DARLING in the FRANXX Fan Fic written by CulpableGlint.
The fic is a reader-insert fic placing the reader in the role of Code 059, a Parasite who joins Squad 13 alongside Zero Two and his partner Code 067/Kyu, and follows the story of the anime, with some noticeable differences due to Code 059's presence.

- Audience Surrogate: Code 059. As a reader-insert, he's usually addressed by either his code number or "(Y/N)".
- Experienced Protagonist: Code 059 and Kyu have been Parasites for over a year by the time they arrive at Squad 13, with 059 having been the leader of their previous squad.
- Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Kyu has a teddy bear she calls Mr. Snuggles, which she has kept since her childhood in the Garden.
- It's All About Me: In chapter 14, Mitsuru declares that Code 059 knows nothing of his reasons or how he feels, and has never lost anything or been betrayed compared to him despite knowing that Code 059 and Kyu lost their entire squad, who they considered family, to a Klaxosaur attack. Code 059 rightfully calls him out on it in a rage, snapping that he's lost more than Mitsuru can possibly imagine whereas Mitsuru himself has lost virtually nothing in comparison because he doesn't care about or love anyone other than himself.
- Kick the Dog: In chapter 14, Mitsuru reaches a whole new level of Jerkassery when he disrespects the memory of Code 059's Plantation and former squad, declaring he's nothing but a failure who couldn't protect either. In response, Code 059 gives him a "The Reason You Suck" Speech in front of all of Squad 13, and Zero Two slaps him.
- Mercy Kill: In the first chapter, 059 finds the same wounded bird Hiro passed when he met Zero Two, and seeing its condition and how it most likely won't fly again, snaps its neck to put it out of its misery.
- Number Two: In the fourth chapter, Code 059 is promoted to Ichigo's second-in-command.
- Screw the Rules, I Make Them!: Code 059 states outright that for all of Ichigo's claims of Zero Two being a monster and a danger to Squad 13, it's crystal clear that her attempts to get her away from Hiro and kicked out of their team are just Ichigo abusing her power as leader to get her out of the way so she can have Hiro to herself.
- What the Hell, Hero?: In chapter 17, Code 059 furiously lambasts Ichigo for her selfish actions in splitting Hiro and Zero Two apart and getting the latter kicked out of Squad 13, knowing she's just using any claims of Zero Two being a monster and a danger to the team as an excuse to give her the best chance at getting Hiro.
