Danganronpa But Everyone Is Okay
is a series of fanfictions written by NoonboryKedabory. As the title suggests, it's based on the Danganronpa franchise, particularly Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, with characters from 2 appearing, namely Teruteru, Chiaki, Sonia, Tanaka and Nagito and parts 14 and 15 bringing in Gonta, Kaede and Angie from 3 while Ibuki is mentioned in "Hope's Peak Camping Trip".
This series is set in a universe where, instead of being sent to a school and forced into a killing game, the Hope's Peak Academy students live in a manor together, where they get up to a variety of antics. Additionally, some darker aspects of the games have been softened to fit the theme of a timeline without Monokuma's despair.
Due to the Danganronpa franchise's spoiler-ridden nature, all spoilers for the first and second games are unmarked.
Tropes
- A Boy, a Girl, and a Baby Family: In these stories, Hifumi and Fujiko have a third sibling, Kazumi, who serves as the Baby to their Boy and Girl, respectively. Downplayed, however, as they're a lot older than most examples; Fujiko is twenty-five, Hifumi is seventeen, and Kazumi is twelve.
- Actually Pretty Funny: Makoto bursts out laughing in "Hope's Peak Role Play" when he sees Aoi, Hiro, Leon and Hifumi tackling Byakuya with pillows as they're role-playing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
- Adam and/or Eve: Sonia's future daughter, believed to be a reincarnation of Jesus (or Atua), is named Eve, after the first woman God created.
- Adaptational Heroism: Junko's not a despair-seeker here.
- Adaptational Nice Guy:
- Thanks to therapy and anti-psychotic medication, Toko is less aggressive and more social with other students.
- Teruteru's perverted traits are gone, and he is more genuinely innocent, if still a Casanova Wannabe.
- Downplayed with Byakuya; he's still aloof and a Smug Snake, but he is not as actively dismissive and controlling as he is in Trigger Happy Havoc. Instead, his personality is more in line with Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.
- Added Alliterative Appeal: In "Hope's Peak Camping Trip", when the discussion about bears happens, Hifumi says "I shall keep everyone safe with the pure power of Princess Piggles!"
- Ambiguous Gender: In canon, Chihiro is presented as a boy crossdressing as a girl. Here, their gender identity is more ambiguous, as they are only referred to with gender-neutral pronouns, and the narration avoids using terms like "boy" or "girl" with them. A nurse is also referred to as "they" in "Hope's Peak Hospital Trip".
- Anachronic Order: "Hope's Peak Baby Mode" was released after "Hope's Peak Arcade Games" but takes place before it.
- Anime Hair: In "Hope's Peak Baby Mode", Toko tries to brush down Baby Yasuhiro's spiky hair, but it springs up after laying flat for five seconds. Baby Yasuhiro grins at the accomplishment while Toko tosses aside the hairbrush going "Never m-mind."
- Angry Cheek Puff: In "Hope's Peak Baby Mode", Baby Kiyotaka puffs his cheeks in annoyance over Aoi and Yasuhiro not understanding what he wants which is trying to tell Yasuhiro to tie up the bread bag.
- Asleep, Not Meditating: Yasuhiro falls asleep while leading Kyoko and Sakura in a meditation exercise in "Hope's Peak Hobby Time".
- Babies Ever After: Stories set in the future show that as adults, Sonia and Gundham marry and have a daughter called Eve.
- Baby Morph Episode: "Hope's Peak Baby Mode" is a series of vignettes about each of the sixteen students being turned into a baby. The Stinger reveals this was due to Monokuma messing around with a remote button marked "Baby Mode".
- Banana Peel: How Yasuhiro wound up in the hospital in "Hope's Peak Hospital Trip" with the narration calling it "the comedy classic of slipping on a banana peel" and spraining his ankle. Toko calls it the dumbest thing.
- Benevolent A.I.: Chiaki, an AI that Chihiro made to help the other students, is this in "Despair Alert! Gonta and the Little Wormy Thing", telling Gonta how medical procedures are done under anesthetics and she thinks he has nothing to worry about.
- Bland-Name Product: "Hope-Flix" stands in for Netflix, as does HopeTube for YouTube.
- Bridal Carry: Invoked by Toko in "Hope's Peak Camping Trip"; when a supposed bear is heard around the campsite, Toko uses this as her opportunity to leap into Byakuya's arms like a princess. As for Byakuya's reaction, see The Comedy Drop.
- Buffy Speak: Aoi calls Gonta's appendix a little wormy thing in "Despair Alert! Gonta and the Little Wormy Thing".
- The Cameo: Monokuma appears at the end of "Hope's Peak Baby Mode" where it's revealed he was responsible for the Baby Mode students.
- Camping Episode: "Hope's Peak Camping Trip", where the students go into the forest to camp.
- Childish Pillow Fight: In "Hope's Peak Role Play", since they're unable to bring sticks into the house, the role-playing students instead opt for pillows, which they use to tackle Byakuya with.
- The Comedy Drop: In "Hope's Peak Camping Trip", after the "bear" in the forest turns out to just be Mukuro, Byakuya flatly drops Toko out of his arms, uninterested in her antics.
- Dramatic Irony: "Hope's Peak Baby Mode" ends with Monokuma pushing a button on a remote labelled "Baby Mode", wondering if it's even working. It is as each push turns one of the students into a baby.
- Excited Title! Two-Part Episode Name!: Part 11 is called "Despair Alert! Hope's Peak Fetch Quest" and Part 14 is called "Despair Alert! Gonta and the Little Wormy Thing".
- Failed a Spot Check: In "Hope's Peak Baby Mode", Chihiro, Sayaka and Leon race around looking for Baby Celeste, unaware that she's sitting in the loveseat with a black blanket over her head, amused by all the chaos.
- Faux Horrific: In "Hope's Peak Camping Trip", Celeste screams in horror...over a ladybug in her tent, much to Kyoko's chagrin and Chihiro's amusement.
- Fetch Quest: Used in the title of "Despair Alert! Hope's Peak Fetch Quest" as Kyoko heads out to the mountains to get a rare Icedrop Flower to cure Teruteru of his Despair Disease.
- Formerly Fit: Byakuya is much chubbier after he gets back from London due to using food to deal with his stress.
- Foul Medicine: In "Hope's Peak Sick Day", Toko complains that the cough syrup tastes like rotten fish, and refuses it to the point that Sakura has to restrain her just to get her to take it.

- The Ghost: Ibuki is mentioned in "Hope's Peak Camping Trip" as having released a new song but has not yet appeared.
- Goo-Goo-Godlike:
- In "Hope's Peak Baby Mode", Sakura retains her Super-Strength even as a baby, being able to lift Kiyotaka all the way above her head while still standing.
- Sonia and Gundham's future daughter, Eve, is described as "the second coming of Jesus", as despite being only an infant, she can walk on water, part water around her, and bring artistic animals to life.
- Hiccup Hijinks: "Miyu's Silly Hiccups" is about baby Miyu having the hiccups, and the silly things the Ultimates (Leon, Aoi, Mondo and Celeste) do to cure them.
- Hidden Depths:
- "Hope's Peak Hobby Time" and "Miyu's Silly Hiccups" reveal that Chihiro is interested in learning martial arts.
- ''Hope's Peak Hobby Time" has Toko and Yamada pulling off a duet together, much to Sayaka, Miyu, Junko, Sakura, and Chihiro's surprise.
- How Did You Know? I Didn't: At the end of "Miyu's Silly Hiccups", when Sayaka asks Celeste how she knew getting Miyu to laugh would make her hiccups go away, Celeste gives a satisfied smile and responds with "I didn't, it was just another successful gamble."
- Idiosyncratic Episode Naming: With the exception of some stories focused on one particular character, each episode is titled "Hope's Peak (insert activity)".
- Oh, Crap!: In "Hope's Peak Arcade Games", Junko has this exact reaction when it turns out the zombies in the arcade game she and Mukuro are playing can climb ladders. Mukuro also has this reaction demanding to know what kind of zombie game lets them climb up ladders.
- Original Character: Miyu, baby sister to Sayaka.
- Security Cling: In "Hope's Peak Camping Trip", a rustling noise is heard near the campfire. Thinking it's a bear, Sayaka climbs onto Mondo's back, while Toko leaps into Byakuya's arms (see Bridal Carry).

- In "Hope's Peak Hobby Time", Toko and Hifumi perform "Forever and Always" together. Hifumi also makes references to Avril Lavigne and Beth Crowley.
- Sick Episode: "Hope's Peak Sick Day", which knocks out 3/5 of the students with a flu.
- Sir Swears-a-Lot: Like in canon, Mondo uses the most curse words of any character, usually some variation of "fuck". In fact, a minor Running Gag is episodes getting a Teen rating "for Mondo's mouth" (or in "Arcade Games"' case, Mukuro's mouth).
- Slapstick:
- In "Hope's Peak Laser Tag", Leon runs face-first into a wall.
- In "Hope's Peak Hobby Time", when Mondo hits a punching bag, it swings back and hits Leon in the stomach, knocking him on his butt.
- Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome: Overlapped with Three-Month-Old Newborn; during her first appearance, baby Eve is three days old, but the size of a one year old, with the mental capacity to boot. This is most likely due to her mystical powers.
- Spared by the Adaptation: Since nobody dies in this universe, this means that Sayaka, Mukuro, Leon, Chihiro, Mondo, Kiyotaka, Hifumi, Celeste, Sakura, Junko, Teruteru, Mikan, Ibuki, Gundham, Kaede, Angie, and Gonta all get to live.
- Squee: In "Hope's Peak Hospital Trip", Sayaka and Aoi do this over a bunch of babies in the nursery, much to the confusion of a nurse. Later, both of them, as well as Junko, do this when they first meet Teruteru. - Undying Loyalty: Toko towards Byakuya. He's not amused. In "Hope's Peak Arcade Games" and "Hope's Peak Laser Tag", Toko's sulking because Byakuya left town to meet in England regarding Sonia moving into Hope's Peak Manor and she misses him dearly. In "Hope's Peak Hobby Time", Toko had been waiting desperately for her beloved Byakuya to phone while in London, but the call just never came.
- You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: In "Hope's Peak Camping Trip", Yasuhiro lets out an "Oh, come on." when he sees Sakura effortlessly pull a salmon out of the water, when he's unable to catch a slab with his fingers.
