"A joke that got out of hand but now I'm trying to make something good out of it"
TrixTheAlien, Official creator of the AU
"So, what if instead of transforming... It "creates" an alien that adapts to My "needs" "
— Max Tennyson giving a suggestion to Azmuth for the device, Chapter 2, page 18

Ben 10: Chaquetrix is a Ben 10 Alternate Universe Fic webcomic/fanfic created by TrixTheAlien. It started out as a joke by the creator, but now seeks to clear the image of it as well as to tell a good story.

Ben Tennyson finds an alien device which gives him the ability to summon alien girls. They appear to have no memories, so in his innocence Ben leads them to be a team of Superheroes, completely oblivious of the real purpose of the device.

The comic can be found here:

Chaquetrix contains examples of:

  • Action Girl: The girls possess all the powers of there Prime counterparts making them quite formidable. 4Arms and Diamondheart standout as prominent examples.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change:
    • Vilgax is the prince of his home planet (which was ALWAYS named Vilgaxia, and thus Vilgax was named after it) and has an older brother. He was also well acquainted with Myaxx prior to her becoming Azmuth's assistant.
    • A flashback shows that Myaxx worked alongside Albedo and always knew that Azmuth was a Galvan.
    • Zombozo is an alien rather than a human zombie.
    • Azmuth met Max when he was still a Plumber, and gave him the idea to change the Omnitrix into the Chaquetrix.
    • Vilgax cracked Tetrax's eye at one point.
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: In the cartoon, the primary colors were green and yellow. In this AU, the primary colors are on the Pink-Purple spectrum. Gwen also swaps her classic blue shirt for a red one.
  • Adaptational Goal Change: Whilst Vilgax is still after the Chaquetrix he wants to use its hybridization technology to create the ultimate hybrid army.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: By virtue of being individuals now, the aliens now have their own distinctive personalities. Word of God describes the first 10 Originals as follows: Heartblast is childish and careless, Wildgirl acts like a dog, Diamondheart is like a protective older sister, SK8 is like a cool motorbiker, Greymatter is selfish, 4Arms is a warrior with honor, Stinkfly is a prankster, Update is like a virtual assistant, Ghost Lady is the original Ghostfreak pretending, and Riplips is very delusional. Azmuth has this as well, gaining a slight Dirty Old Man side which is why he repurposed the Omnitrix into the Chaquetrix after an off handed comment from a young Max Tennyson.
  • All There in the Manual: The author answers most of the detailed questions about the AU on their Deviantart and Patreon page.
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: More like adaptational device change, in addition to creating hybrids the aliens can stay outside the watch indefinitely, but only one at a time, with the 'playlist' selecting which alien to summon. There is recharge time between summonings.
  • Adaptational Weapon Swap: Diamondheart style is more defensive here. Word of God states that she primarily makes diamond shields instead of swords and shards.
  • Battle Harem: Downplayed. None of the girls are romantically involved with Ben (for obvious reasons), but the Chaquetrix was originally intended for sexual purposes, though Ben uses the girls it creates to fight as superheroes instead.
  • Calling Me a Logarithm: Downplayed, Yhonnix has no idea what a squid is, but is correct that it is an insult
  • Children Are Innocent: Ben assumes instantly that the Aliens are superheroes from another planet.
  • Desperately Needs Orders: Downplayed. Whilst the aliens are individuals they are for all intents and purposes newborns with no idea of their purpose, so are easily influenced by the words of the wielder of the Chaquetrix. Luckily, Ben finds the watch and teaches them to be heroes. However, they are capable of independent action. This is shown best with Greymatter who refused to follow Ben due to seeing him as an intellectually inferior being
  • Description Cut: When Ben gets excited about wondering what their first supervillain will be (Space robots don't count apparently) Max tells him that he doubts they will face anything like that anytime soon, only for the next panel to show this chapter is an adaptation of "Washington B.C.".
  • Flawed Prototype: Much like the original the Chaquetrix is only a prototype and full of errors.Though this time around it's more of a boon to Ben. The intended purpose is to create a hybrid that could reproduce with the wielder, but due to a glitch, the aliens are void of the drive for reproduction which causes them to develop their own personalities.
  • Giver of Lame Names: Gwen thinks Ben's names for the aliens are ridiculous, but at least Heartblast likes hers.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: What a fully functional Chaquetrix is supposed to do, is create an alien that has enough of the wielder's species DNA to reproduce. However, due to it being an error-filled prototype, this is not done right and only a small amount of DNA is used, if none at all, depending on the alien in question. The small amount of Human DNA does make them slightly less powerful than a full member of their species, but emphasizes on slightly.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Given that the aliens are essentially newborn, they have no idea of their powers with Heartblast freaking out when pointed out she was on fire and Diamondheart discovering she could make shields by accident.
  • In Spite of a Nail: The function and name of the Omnitrix may have changed but most of the story remains the same: Heartblast(Heatblast) is still the first alien used, Vilgax is still indisposed for the time being, Diamondheart(Diamondhead) still faces the drone and a Dr. Animo is still a starter villain. Only time will tell how many things stay the same or change.
  • Internal Reveal: Tetrax reveals a bit about what is really going on to Diamondheart, who decides not to share with Ben.
  • Jumped at the Call: Even though this time around he is summoning aliens rather than transforming himself Ben is still eager to fight against evil.
  • Legacy Character: Dr. Animo's daughter, Lucy (Original Character) takes over his position in the AU.
  • Mythology Gag: The design of Gwen is based on early concept art for the original show and Max wears a fishing shirt like from the Reboot.
  • Point of Divergence: The whole universe was created due to:
    • A) Azmuth having a luscious side which comes through his experiments
    • B) A youthful Max meeting Azmuth and making an off-hand suggestion about generating a companion alien.
  • Summoning Artifact: What the Chaquetrix is essentiality, instead of turning Ben into an Aliens it creates and summons alien gals.
  • Summon Everyman Hero: Ben initially believed that the aliens are superheroes from their own planets which the watch summons, in the process erasing their memory for security reasons. He stubbornly denied it when Gwen theorized that the aliens came from the watch itself, until “New Perspectives part 1” where Ghost Lady indirectly confirmed it.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
    • The store owner in "Heroines: Part 1" is angry with Ben for damaging more of his store while "saving" it from Animo's giant hamster.
    • Gwen tells Clancy that cockroaches surviving nuclear explosions is just a myth, and even if they WERE immune to radiation, an "armor" made from cockroaches wouldn't be solid enough to protect him.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Not all alien girls have the same moral code or listen such as Greymatter who both refuses to listen Ben and bribes him into stealing. Played straight with Ghost Lady/Ghostfreak.
  • Uneven Hybrid: What the prototype essential does due to its flaws, the Aliens are primarily their own species with different levels of Human DNA, which at most affects their appearance such as Wildgirl. The creator made some posts showing how much Human vs. Alien DNA the aliens have. However, the creator says it's not meant to be taken literally.
