Call of the Void has the following tropes:

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Drifter encounters RABBIT Squad while travelling across Kivotos to visit the academies one by one.
  • Aliens Speaking English: Drifter is surprised that Kivotos natives speak Orokin, making him initially assume that the city is either a former Orokin colony or an Earth from a Alternate Timeline.
  • Anti-Climax: After entering Schale tower and scanning Wakamo's power level, Drifter and Ordis expect a difficult fight...only for the Fox of Calamity to bashfully flee the scene after seeing the former.
Ordis:THAT WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING! WHY, I OUGHT TO TEAR HER LIMBS OFF FOR THAT!
The Drifter: Yeah... I feel pretty disrespected right now.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Drifter's first public appearance in Kivotos is by saving a team of students led by Yuuka, who are surrounded by gang members in an attempt to retake Schale tower, and single-handedly defeating the gangsters.
  • Brought Down to Badass: The Man in the Wall considers that Drifter's ability to rewind time is a bit too broken, so he De-power that ability off him.
  • Death by Adaptation: Kaiser PMC Director end up being killed by Drifter, Hoshino and Wakamo.
  • Demoted to Extra: Throughout the Abydos arc, Problem Solver 68 doesn't have as much prominent spotlight as their canon counterpart.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Drifter is so focused on the paperwork that he didn't notice Yuuka's SCHALE Application papers, mistaking it as part of the Schale Foundry's manual despite her pulling a favor for Rin so she can put it on top of his paperwork stack.
  • Fighting Down Memory Lane: Drifter suddenly has a memory of having a conversation with the missing GSC President and images of various Kivotos students when talking to Rin.
  • I Choose to Stay: Discussed; Arthur and Drifter talk about whether they should find a way to return to Höllvania or stay in Kivotos for good.
  • I Never Said It Was Poison: When Drifter asks the FOX Squad if they know who's responsible for the GSC building, they immediately try to reach their weapons...right in front of him, who doesn't even mention their group once in his question.
  • Internal Reveal: Only a few people in Kivotos know how bad the Warfame galaxy in general really is.
    • Drifter does tell Arona about him and the galaxy in general, while skipping over the gruesome stuff.
    • Drifter tells Hoshino about how terrible Höllvania's civil war is in exchange for her cooperation and her own backstory.
  • Just Friends: The Drifter quickly and sternly rejects Wakamo's advancements, hammering to her head that he has no interest in romance.
  • Karmic Nod: When one of the FOX Squad laments Drifter forbidding them from meeting their juniors throughout their mission to recover SRT Special Academy's curriculum materials, the other warns them that the restriction is lenient, considering he could just hand them over to the GSC for blowing up the SCHALE tower.
  • Meaningful Rename:
    • Hail Mary, the ex-Kaiser mercenary team, hates the team name they were given, as it gives an unfortunate implication that they are only deployed as the last, desperate resort. Now, under Drifter's direct employment as SCHALE staff, they decide to rename their group as the Misfit Squad, to represent how they consist of dropout students from various academies and how they feel more at home with one another instead of with their old academies.
    • Now that the Abydos Academy's debt is taken care of, the Foreclosure Task Force is renamed to the Abydos Defense Force to reflect how their old duty is no more.
  • No-Sell: The Drifter and Ordis express surprise that scanning The Shittim Chest yields no result.
Ordis: ≪ ...Operator. The Helios Prime has failed to scan the tablet. Ordis must say, this is the first time Helios has failed a scan. ≫
Drifter: Really? It failed to scan this simple tablet?
Ordis: ≪ It was also unable to provide a reason. It seems it, too, is confused by this peculiar result. ≫
  • Old Shame: Drifter remembers how he used to main Octavia Warframe but is unsure why, as he now finds it too embarrassing to use.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • Drifter finds Kaiser Loan's Promissory Note for Abydos Academy's debt while he and Foreclosure Task Force rob Kaiser Bank in the Black Market, before later burning it live on a livestream, rendering Abydos Academy free from their debt.
    • The action above stirs Yukino to accept Drifter's offer to join SCHALE, causing FOX Squad to cut ties with Kaya.
  • Power Trio: Drifter eventually discovers that both Arthur and Amir also end up in Kivotos, and he decides to recruit them as co-Senseis.
  • Trapped in Another World: Drifter ends up in Kivotos as The Man in The Wall summns a black hole to sucks the Orbiter in, with Cephalon Cy reporting that their Reactor's Void-space translation capability are broken beyond what Kivotos' tech could fix, rendering them unable to jump into The Void.
  • A Truce While We Gawk: Both Helmet Gang and Foreclosure Task Force stopped fighting as they gawked in horror from watching Drifter's Reaper Prime manage to cut through one of the Helmet gang members' halo barrier, causing her to bleed.
  • Underestimating Badassery:
    • Kivotos' students generally worry about Drifter joining the fight due to his lack of Halo. But he proves his capabilities time and time again. Note that attitude is out of concern as they have never met a combat-capable Halo-less person before, not out of any form of discrimination or condescension.
    • Kivotos students generally find melee weapons obsolete due to how their culture revolves around firearms, but Drifter showcases how effective those weapons are in his hands.
  • The World Is Not Ready: After Cephalon Cy reports that Kivotos is Infested-free, Drifter scrapping his Infested weapons, Nidus Prime and Temple Prime Warframes, and seals off Helminth Infirmary to ensure that it won't end up starting one.
While there aren't any Infested spores in this planet's gravity well... if I dared to take an Infested weapon outside this ship, I could risk exposing this planet to those horrors.
They were now catastrophic biohazards that needed to be destroyed. All my infested shit must be destroyed. No exceptions.
    [...]
It really hurts me to do that, destroying a pair of perfectly good Prime warframes, but Kivotos will be better off for it. No amount of usefulness can save them from their Infested nature, and that means they have to go. Plus, they're just better off not knowing what Nidus does.
    [...]
Deimos and Höllvania were enough of a lesson on the dangers of lacking foresight. I will not let those mistakes be repeated.
  • You Remind Me of X:
    • Drifter can't help but compare the Foreclosure Task Force's situation with how things go in Origin System in general, with Kaiser Corp taking the role of the Grineer or the Corpus.
    • Drifter notes how the Misfit Squad's battle tactic resembles one he sees with the Grinner Corps.
