Call of Nudity

Go To

Call of Nudity is a fanfiction series by ZavinedeGlasya set in the Vow of Nudity universe. It chronicles the adventures of Zavine, a tiefling druid who has lived in the wilderness for over a decade, until a mysterious fire-worshipping cult threatens her forest and she's forced to re-enter into society to figure out what they want and how to stop them.

Like its parent series, it uses integrated dicerolls and is Not Safe for Work, though only for the nudism element as it includes no explicit sexual content, at least until the fourth story.

Currently released stories include:

Call of Nudity provides examples of:

  • Alliterative Name: Hookline Harbor.
  • Back for the Dead: Gnaer'l, a character who first appeared in the spinoff The Naked Misadventures of Kay'la, is mentioned to be among the casualties of the ship that crashed into Aquantis.
  • Barbarian Hero: Lexie eventually becomes this, joining Zavine on her trip to Hookline Harbor and fending off a horde of ravenous zombies.
  • Big Red Devil: Zavine herself, with archetypical bright red skin, black hair, and horns.
  • Cult: There are four different cults that are working together to bring down Zavine and destroy her forest for unknown reasons. The Cult of Demetaphone worships Demetaphone, a goddess of earth. The Cult of Artidea worships Artidea, a goddess of air. The Cult of Positune worships Positune, a god of water. The Cult of Kasolos worships Kasolos, a god of fire.
  • Dream Intro: The first scene in The Mystery of the Missing Ships is Zavine receiving a message in her dreams from a mysterious woman.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: Twice Zavine sees mysterious people in her dreams. The first time it’s a shadowy woman who cryptically promises to see her soon, the second it’s the protagonists of all the other series, foreshadowing that she’s eventually going to meet all these people.
  • Episode of the Dead: Chapter 2 of The Mystery of Missing Treasure is entirely occupied with Zavine and Lexie being attacked by a horde of zombies while traveling to Hookline Harbor.
  • Exact Words: In The Secrets of an Underground Cult, Zavine learns that Thallan Phipeiros is cheating on his wife and blackmails him into helping her, promising not to tell his wife if he does. Once she has what she needs, she promptly tells the guard Travis Honorsnarl, who then tells his wife.
  • Flesh-Eating Zombie: Lexie and Zavine fight a horde of these while on their way Hookline Harbor.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Zavine wields a scimitar as her weapon of choice.
  • Holographic Disguise: Much like Haara from Vow of Nudity, Zavine uses the spell Disguise Self to create illusory clothes so she can walk around in town without drawing undue attention to herself.
  • Inn Security: Zavine goes to sleep in an inn and is awoken by cultists trying to kill her.
  • Mercy Kill: Zavine and Selachia find a giant electric eel impaled with a metal rod that is siphoning its electricity through a cable. They kill it to put it out of its misery.
  • The Mistress: Lexie, whom Thallan is cheating on his wife with.
  • Naked Freak-Out: After living so long in the wilderness that she forgot basic societal norms, Zavine walks straight into town naked and has one of these upon realizing why everyone's staring at her.
  • Nature Hero: Zavine is dedicated to nature and preserving life, contrasting her with the destructive cults she fights against.
  • Politically Active Princess: Princess Selachia is forced to become this after her father, the king, is killed by a sinking ship crashing into their underwater city.
  • Pregnant Badass: Lexie takes on a horde of zombies while pregnant and suffering from extreme Clothing Damage.
  • Robbing the Dead: In The Mystery of Missing Treasure, when Zavine kills the Water Cultist, she removes his robe and gives it to her friend Lexie, whose clothes had been destroyed earlier.
  • Sacred Flames: The Cult of Kasolos worships fire, and Zavine's forest is just one of many places threatened by their pyromaniacal plans.
  • Savage Wolves: Zavine's wolf form is her default combat form until she unlocks bear form.
  • Slain in Their Sleep: Attempted by several cultists while Zavine slept in an inn, though she manages to kill them in self-defense.
  • Sneaky Spider: Zavine's spider wildshape is her usual form for breaking and entering.
  • Tamer and Chaster: While Call of Nudity features a nudist protagonist, it has much less sexual content compared to the other series set in the Shared Universe. Though in The Battle Beneath the Blue Seas, Selachia is able to seduce Zavine.
  • Threatening Shark: The sahuagin Zavine encounters in the ocean is leading a pair of thrasher sharks which are just as much a threat as their handlers.
  • We Can Rule Together: In The Mystery of Missing Treasure, Zavine captures and interrogates the cultist Ulitree. While talking, Ultree tries to persuade her to join either her Cult of Demetaphone or the allied Cult of Artidea. Knowing that all the cults are evil, Zavine refuses and slashes her throat, knowing that Ulitree is too fanatically loyal to the cults to ever pull a Heel–Face Turn.
