"As the Emperor Protects, so must we."
"Ask not what the Imperium and Emperor can do for you, but what you can do for them."
"Death stands before us wherever we go. And wherever we go, we shall spit in its face and let our Tanks roll over it."
Cadian Blood: Worlds Apart, In Hell Together is a Warhammer 40,000 and Valkyria Chronicles Crossover fanfiction by Johnnieboy11.
The Fall of Cadia did much to the morale of the Imperium. As the Cicatrix Maledictum and its recurring Warp-Storms opened, one such storm caught, at the whim of a higher being, a Regiment of almost 5,000 soldiers, more young than most you'd see in the Guard, shipping them to a new world, with new threats and, perhaps, a chance at Retribution.

Beware of Spoilers.
Cadian Blood: Worlds Apart, In Hell Together has the following tropes:
- Adaptational Context Change: In canon, Largo calling the soldiers who are younger than him as "just kids" is condescending due to being an Old Soldier who believes that he knows better due to being older. Here, the wording has more concern peppered on it due to Cadian First Youth being a regiment of Child Soldiers.
- The Cavalry:
- The First Youth ends up helping to protect Bruhl from the European Imperial's invasion before Welkin and Isara could show up with Edelweiss, with Elaine actually referring to her group by the trope name when Alicia asks who they are.
- Easy Evangelism: As Ryan and other volunteering Darcsens and Cadians head to the tomb world under the Barious Desert with the bomb cargo, he and the other Darcsens decide to convert to the Imperial Creed, believing it to be a better religion than Yggdism after seeing The First Youth treating them as a fellow human being because it's part of its teaching.Ryan: Yeah... Well, you all remember the little sermon we've attended before the final battle in Kloden. May the God-Emperor on Terra preserve us...
Others: The Emperor Protects... - Enemy Mine: The Necrons' awakening from underneath the Barious Desert forces The First Youth and the European Imperial army to join forces lest they're all killed indiscriminately by the undying machine.Matias: We either die fighting each other here, or live to duel another day... By the Emperor, I hate all that you and your pompous ass stand for, but I will not have my men die fighting two enemies at once... Especially not the Necron.
Maximillian: *nods slowly* Selvaria! Form a line! We have a common front with the Gallians and their Cadian comrades! - Even Evil Has Standards: Selvaria mentions to Matias how she personally executes those responsible for the Bruhl invasion, which leads to Gallia joining the Second European War.
- Everyone Has Standards: The First Youth is against the discrimination against the Darcsens because all humans are the same in The Emperor's eyes...and that there's no such thing as un-needed hand in a war.
- Expy: The Psyker team consists of characters based on Doki Doki Literature Club!, with Monyka the Psyker, Saoirse the Karskin Cannoner, Nat the Storm Trooper, and Yuri, the new member, who is a native Gallian's swordswoman. Meanwhile, Saoirse's Unrequited Love with Matias implies that he's the Player Character's stand-in.
- Idealist vs. Pragmatist: Welkin and Matias, respectively, have different opinions when it comes to war.Welkin: It's... It's terrifying even for me to know you can kill a man and smile the next day as if nothing happened, especially since you're kids and, frankly, I am very sorry you lived in a world where killing was mandatory even for children... But you need to understand we also have rules here, for war...
Matias: *snorts* Rules? Lieutenant, what pesky moron thought that RULES would serve anyone in WAR. It's kill or be killed, and I don't think any man would follow any rules. And if they do, they're a probable liability, with all due respect. - Leave No Survivors: The main reason The First Youth makes the Gallians wary of them, despite being allies.
- After successfully defending Bruhl, Elaine's squad chases after and kills the fleeing European Imperials, to Alicia's shock.
- This happens again when they go after the ones who ambush them at the Vasel River despite the Curb-Stomp Battle in their favor. Alicia even has to get to Matias to grab his Vox to beg the Cadians to spare them and let them go through it.
- Malicious Misnaming: The stranded Astra Militarum calls the European Imperial "the False Imperial" for calling themselves "Imperial" yet didn't worship the Emperor of Mankind.
- Original Generation:
- The main Astra Militarum regiment of this story is the Cadian 13th Heavy Mixed Regiment "The First Youth", which includes:
- Colonel Matias Telos, their leader.
- Lieutenant Elaine "Phoenix" Maaran, the head scout of the sixteenth company.
- Then there's Krieg Sixty-Sixth Infantry Regiment, which is led by Colonel Maria Stern.
- The main Astra Militarum regiment of this story is the Cadian 13th Heavy Mixed Regiment "The First Youth", which includes:
- Small Role, Big Impact: Ryan. While he's only one of the first few Darcsens who join The First Youth, he's the first person who volunteers for the Suicide Mission against the Necrons, before dying a Defiant to the End in the face of a Necron Lord as he detonates the bomb while the Xenos necrotize his flesh with his weapon.
- Suicide Mission: To destroy the Necron Tomb World underneath, the Sisters of Battle team has created an IED made of tons of Ragnites and three melta charges, but it must be delivered into the Tomb World directly, meaning those who are sent to do this will not return alive. Ryan and few other newly recruited Darcsen members, however, volunteer to go, to Matias' resignation.
- Trapped in Another World: The 13th Cadian First Youth manages to escape their home planet's destruction when a Warp storm swallows their ship, causing them to crashland in Valkyria Chronicles world.
- Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: The First Youth are Child Soldiers by Gallians' standard, with the oldest of them, Matias, being nineteen, but they already have the demeanor and look of veterans, as described by Alicia's inner monologue when she met Elaine for the first time. She had the looks of a 16-year-old girl you'd see in Gallia's high schools, but her demeanor, her toned body, and even the scars on her face told Alicia it was no mere schoolgirl. Instead, she gave the feeling of a nightmare, of a soldier that had seen too much for her age and that had enough experience to outdo even Gallia's most hardened veterans...
- Villain Respect: During the funeral procession for those who fall in the battle of Barious Desert, Selvaria secretly attends it to ask Matias why he didn't just give up despite the insurmountable loss against the cyber Xenos, to which the First Youth Colonel says that it is the Cadians' creed to be the one who does the Last Stand, earning the Valkyria's respect.Selvaria: Tell me, again, Colonel... Why do you still Hold the Line?
Matias: The God-Emperor asks of us not more, nor less than to protect those of Mankind, be they under his light or not. He asks of us to stand in line and die fighting for these people, even if some may be arrayed against us, like you and your Army... It is what we do best... As General Sturnn, of the 412th, God-Emperor rest their souls, said... We Die Standing.
Selvaria: *sighs* The next time we meet in battle, Colonel Telos...
Matias: Spare us no inch, For we will spare you none. Today, however, you and your force are free to leave.
Selvaria: Then... We shall cross blades again. When we meet, Die well, Colonel Telos. - Wham Shot: During the expedition underneath the Barious Desert, the Psyker team discover that there is a Necron tomb world, and their trespassing accidentally awakens the Xenos.
