So here’s the thing. Midoriya Izuku and his mother, Midoriya Inko, are not human. They’re what popular culture would call Vampires.

Bloodstained Heroes of Humanity is a My Hero Academia fanfic by Unoutan.

Midoriya Izuku was born a vampire to his also vampire mother Midoriya Inko. He and his mother live alongside humanity as Izuku grows up and attends school with the help of Inko's friend, Sumi.

Unfortunately unlike the majority of humanity, vampires don't get powers until they reach their 100th birthday if they're lucky much to Izuku's heartbreak. Regardless of the human kids' cruelty to him, Izuku believes that he can become a hero!

Bloodstained Heroes of Humanity contains the examples of the following:

  • Abusive Parents: Sumi is revealed to be one to Izuku.
  • Adult Fear:
    • Inko constantly worries for Izuku's safety. She worries Izuku could risk death if he slipped up and forgot to take protective steps before going out in the sun. She fears that his bullies might take their violence too far or he could get caught in a villain attack.
    • Sumi has been close friends with Inko since before Izuku's birth and is Izuku's Parental Substitute and Honorary Uncle. Sumi had to watch over Izuku frequently and educate him on vampire culture due to Inko being a busy single mother. Sumi has all of Inko and Izuku's trust and affection. It leads Sumi putting Izuku into an uncomfortable situation in which Izuku is nearly sexually assaulted. Sumi doesn't believe he did anything wrong and is trying to do what he thinks is best for Izuku regardless of what Inko and Izuku want. Later Izuku finds out with Aizawa that despite knowing vampire protocol, Sumi deliberately uneducated about certain aspects of vampirism. Had Izuku never met Aizawa, he would have continued knowing only what Sumi wanted him to know.

  • Ambiguously Evil: Inko. Her close friend is an active supervillain, she has ties to the underworld and her ex-husband is implied to be All for One. Inko has no problem seducing and enthralling humans to find information. Inko doesn't inform the authorities when she finds out Kurogiri's plan and attempts to have herself and Izuku flee. Despite her close relationship with Bakugous, she still has a distaste for humans.
  • Bait-and-Switch Tyrant: Aizawa was presented as an obstacle for Izuku as he was a Sadist Teacher and the first non-family vampire. Aizawa gives Izuku a dressing down for his poor quirk control and bad manners in not greeting the elder vampire. Only to reveal himself to be a Reasonable Authority Figure who gives Izuku support when Izuku's relationship with Sumi falls apart. Aizawa even offers Izuku to guide him how to balance his vampirism and superhero career.
  • Batman Cold Open: The story begins with Todoroki and Izuku defending Yaoyorozu, Kirishima and Iida from a feral werewolf that used to be their classmate.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: Inko's weight gain does not stop her from successfully seducing and feeding on Kurogiri's employees. A woman admires Inko's body and attempts to invite her to a love hotel.
  • Blood Lust: As a child, the baby vampire Izuku would lick Katsuku's cuts and scrapes to drink the blood and heal his best friend.
  • Brutal Honesty: After observing Bakugou and Izuku's interactions, Yaoyoruzu takes Izuku aside and asks him if Bakugou is his abusive ex.
  • The Clan: The Tokoyami family are a clan for traditional Japanese exorcists and monster hunters.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror:
    • Downplayed but after a childhood of Izuku snacking on the blood of his cuts and scratches, Katsuki finds Izuku feeding on him calming and nostalgic.
    • Played straight with Izuku as growing up with Kurogiri and Shiragaki blinded him to the villainous parts of their personalities and dismissed them as personality quirks until they actually hurt him.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Implied with Inko as she left her husband and was hunted down by vampire hunters during her pregnancy with Izuku.
  • Dhampyr: Izuku was born a vampire instead of being turned which is rather rare according to everyone's surprise at Izuku's existence or origins.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: For the crime of lying to him and trying to become a pro-hero, Kurogiri is absolutely furious with Izuku. As punishment, Kurogiri plans to force Izuku watch him kill his classmates and make him drink their blood. Then Kurogiri will beat him for good measure.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Sumi attempts to force Izuku to embrace his predator nature as a vampire by forcing him to drink directly from a human despite Izuku's pleading and refusal. He allows Shiragaki to attempt to force Izuku into biting him. While Izuku manages to get Shiragaki to lose interest by putting too much of a fight, Izuku is left distraught and feeling violated. The situation is uncomfortably reminiscent of a parent attempting corrective rape on their child.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Izuku establishes himself as steadfast in his beliefs and not afraid to speak the truth.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: if the vampire isn't a supervillain, they are some flavor of one.
    • Inko lives among humans not drawing attention to herself. She works as a nurse to gain access to blood. She has human friends but doesn't go out of her way to socialize with humans.
    • Izuku is born a vampire and wants to be a pro-hero to protect humanity. Izuku largely drinks animal blood and donated human blood and outright refuses to hunt humans.

  • Healing Factor: Izuku can heal fairly quickly due to his vampirism and heals even faster when he drinks human blood.
  • Hide Your Otherness: Izuku makes a point of hiding his fangs and drinking blood to be able to go to school.
  • Horror Hunger: Bad things happen if a vampire doesn't drink blood. Izuku even attacks Katsuki after he skips a few meals.

  • I Know You Know I Know: After the indoor battle trial Katsuki indirectly reveals that he knows Izuku's vampirism and warns him to act more discreetly so eavesdroppers not in know won't know what they're talking about.
  • I Resemble That Remark!: Katsuki physically assaults a kid for saying that he wouldn't be a hero with his poor attitude. Then Katsuki beats the crap out of Izuku who points out he's proving the kid's point.
  • In Medias Res: The story begins during a heated battle before switching to Izuku's early childhood and the beginning of the canon storyline.
  • Insubstantial Ingredients: All Might's blood tastes like summer.
  • Internal Reveal: When Toshinori reveals the secret behind his quirk, Izuku reveals to him that he's a vampire.
  • Interspecies Romance: Between Inko and both Bakugou Mitsuki and Masaru..
  • Intimate Healing: Vampires can heal wounds by licking them. Izuku as a young child had the habit of licking Bakugou's cuts and scrapes to heal him and taste his blood.
  • Jailbait Wait: Sensei initially waited for Shiragaki to become an adult to turn him into a vampire. However, Shiragaki is so immature that Sensei puts off his conversion until the former grows up.
  • Kids Are Cruel: Katsuki violently beats Izuku and another kid while the other children look and laugh at them.
  • Kiss of the Vampire: Vampire bites are intensely pleasurable for both vampire and victim. The proof of the bite goes away with the vampire's healing saliva. Bakugou finds being bitten very calming and relaxing.
  • Last-Name Basis: It's revealed that Sumi is Kurogiri's family name.
  • Loose Lips: Unintentionally Izuku reveals major secrets when he doesn't realize they were secrets.
    • As a child, he accidentally revealed to Shiragaki that he was born a vampire.
    • Izuku accidentally outs Aizawa as a vampire to All Might, which gets him into hot water when he finds out he was supposed to keep it secret.
  • Love Father, Love Son: Sumi had a romantic interest in Inko which went no where because she was married. He begins to develop an obsession with her son, Izuku to the latter's misfortune.
  • Mafia Princess: Gender-inverted as Izuku is one with supervillains. Izuku grew up unaware and sheltered of his Parental Substitute Sumi's activities and Inko's darker connections. He gets a harsh wake cup call when Sumi attempts to initiate him to get him started on becoming a supervillain.
  • Mama Bear: Inko loves her son more than anything. Inko ends a long friendship with Sumi whom she loved more than a brother for hurting Izuku. She left her blood mate who was a powerful Elder vampire and Izuku's father.

  • Meaningful Name: Sumi Kurogiri is named after the Japanese Sumi ink due to his gaseous form appearing drawn with cool, rough brushstrokes.
  • Mundane Solution: Vampires wear sunscreen and anti-UV clothing to go out in sunlight.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Sumi Kurogiri was named due to his full name not being revealed when the fanfic was published.

  • Oh, Crap!: Toshinori's reaction when he realizes that Aizawa is Izuku's teacher.
  • Our Vampires Are Different:
    • Vampires can eat human food but require blood. Vampires usually drink it as a side to their food but Inko frequently blends blood into the food she makes.
    • Vampires can transform humans into vampires. It is possible but extremely rare for them to reproduce naturally. Izuku is special because he was born a vampire and doesn't have a sire.
    • Blood can taste like human food to vampires. Izuku equates Katsuki's blood to cinnamon and Sumi's blood to lemons.
    • Vampires have a built-in heightened sense of smell, Healing Factor and healing saliva. They can develop Charm Person powers to lure prey. If they're lucky, they can get a special unique power when they hit their 100th birthday.
    • Vampires can blush and have working circulatory systems but can turn it off at will.
    • Young vampires age like human children.
  • Parental Obliviousness: Sumi is so happy that Izuku is going to his dream school and so relived that Izuku gave up his dream on being hero that he fails to realize that Izuku lied about being in General Education until USJ.
  • Polyamory: Inko is in an open relationship with Bakugou Mitsuki and Masaru.
  • Poisonous Friend: Sumi Kurogiri is a long time friend of Inko and Honorary Uncle to her son. After helping raise and protect Izuku from birth, Sumi wants Izuku to have a fulfilling life as a vampire. Unfortunately for Izuku, Sumi believes fulfillment is becoming a Fully-Embraced Fiend and a supervillain.
  • Prohuman Transhuman: Izuku, a natural born vampire, swears to protect and never give up on humanity no matter how they treat him.
  • Puberty Superpower: Izuku develops Charm Person powers while in Yuuei to make it easier for him to attract prey. He is rather annoyed that no one told him that
  • Punny Name: Tokoyami's Hunter of Monsters clan are called Bird of Prey hunters and they all look like various species of birds of prey.
  • Rule of Three: Shiragaki tried three separate vampires to turn him and all three refused.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: Inko knows that Izuku lied to her and Sumi and that he's in the Heroes Course instead of the General Education track. She keeps it a secret so Sumi wouldn't get in the way of Izuku's dream.
  • Signature Scent: Human and vampire blood smells and tastes like specific human food depending on the individual.
    • Bakugou smells like cinnamon.
    • Sumi's blood smells like lemons which Izuku equates to lemonade.
    • Aizawa's blood smells like raspberries.
  • Stronger with Age: Vampires get individual powers once they hit their hundredth birthday but it isn't guaranteed according to Inko. This annoys Izuku as it means he's functionally no different from a quirkless human despite being born a vampire.
    • Inko got her telekinetic powers at her 100th birthday and Kurogiri got his teleportation powers at his.
  • Super Spit: Vampires can heal wounds with their spit.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: Aizawa assumes that Sumi is Izuku's Sire. Izuku goes along with it to not explain that he was born a vampire.
  • Undead Child: Shiragaki mistakes Izuku for when he first comes across Izuku due to latter being five at the time.
  • Vampires Are Sex Gods: According to Sumi, vampires are naturally attractive and have additional Charm Person abilities to help lure prey. Izuku gives off "friendly and innocent" which has his classmates lining up to help him much to his annoyance. Inko is more a seductress when she effortlessly seduces Kurogiri's human employees.
  • Vampires Hate Garlic: Garlic is harmless to most vampires and they can eat like any other food. Izuku unfortunately is genuinely allergic to garlic and cannot touch it without breaking out in a rash. Sumi has fun teasing Izuku for it.
  • Vampire Vannabe: To emulate his beloved Sensei, Shiragaki can't wait to become a vampire and drink the blood of Heroes. Unfortunately for him, the three vampires that could have their separate reasons to refuse to do so. For Sensei, Shiragaki needs to grow up mentally. For Kurogiri, he follows Sensei's orders. For Izuku, he's repulsed by Shiragaki and wouldn't know how to.
  • Vegetarian Vampire: Izuku mostly drinks animal blood as a child. He starts to add donated human blood when he goes to Yuuei.
    • Aizawa drinks donated human blood out of a desire to not hurt people and not having to put an effort to hunt.
  • Your Vampires Suck: Shiragaki is a supervillian and Serial Killer and can't wait to eat people. So he's disgusted with Izuku, whos a Friendly Neighborhood Vampire who's never hunted people and drinks animal blood.
