Beware of spoilers!
Black Swordsman and the Goddess of the Hearth has the following tropes:
- Answer Cut: After repeatedly failing to find out more about the Familias in Orario due to people being intimidated by him and fleeing before he could ask them, Guts inwardly questions what God would be stupid enough to let someone as scary as him join their Familia - before the scene cuts to Hestia clocking out from her job at the potato puffs stand.
- Badass in Distress: While the rest of Loki Familia is dealing with a rush of Minotaurs, Ais is separated from them and must face an older Minotaur that is smart enough to counter her strikes until Guts passes by and kills the Minotaur, inadvertently saving Ais - even at the cost of accidentally covering her in Minotaur blood.
- Blatant Lies: When Isidiro retells the rest of the party of what happened when they were separated, none of them bought him defeating a minotaur as big as Guts on his own and asks Bell for what really happened.
- Cuddle Bug: Casca seems to enjoy hugging both Bell and Hestia. This is how Guts and his group are certain that they're trustworthy.
- Face of a Thug: Hestia initially finds Guts dubious due to his intimidating presence and his dislike towards Gods, but soon feels assured when she sees how much his companions care about him when she meets them.
- Faint in Shock: Bell ends up passing out when meeting Guts for the first time.
- Gilligan Cut:
- Bell and Isidiro are being cornered by a Minotaur as the scene cuts to Erica and Rickert hoping that the two are okay.
- Puck calls out Bell for running and screaming away from Ai after she saved him from a minotaur, instead of thanking her, telling him that the female adventurer will definitely see him as an ungrateful Jerkass thanks to that, to his horror...only for the scene to cut to Ai silently wondering if she'll ever met Bell again.
- Horrifying the Horror:
- Guts notices that the demons stop chasing his group when they get close to the lake out of fear, but he's too worried about the injured Casca to think further about it.
- During their Dungeoning, the Loki Familia encounters a group of Minotaurs who are running away from the 17th floor, unaware that it is caused by Guts easily defeating them.
- Mark of the Beast: Guts' Brand of Sacrifice, as even Hestia screams when she feels its malevolence.
- Mr. Exposition: Guts' group stumbles upon a member of Apollo Familia, who tries and fails to intimidate them. Schierke hypnotizes them to get them to tell the group about the common knowledge about Gakai, such as the Dungeon and Familias, before wiping their memories of their encounter with the group.
- Mythology Gag: Guts saves Ais from a Minotaur but leaves her drenched in blood - the inverse of what she did with Bell in canon.
- A Mythology Is True: When Guts' group is unable to recognize their surrounding, Schierke recalls stories in her class about other worlds and how to go there, but she mentions how those stories are seen as "tales to entertain children".
- Nay-Theist: Guts tells Hestia right to her face that he couldn't care less about worshipping gods, even after finding out that DanMachi's being much more physical and friendlier, but he's willing to play along if that could get his group to join a Familia.
- One-Man Army: Guts easily demolish the monsters on the upper level of the dungeon.
- Our Elves Are Different: Discussed; the Elves native to Gakai are entirely different from the likes of Puck and Ivalera, leading to Elna's confusion when the fairy-like pair refer to themselves as "Elves".
- Portal Pool: The lake Guts's group swims into is actually a magical lake that could lead to another world.
- Run or Die: Exhausted and injured from fighting monsters, Guts' group is forced to flee from the New Band of The Hawk by swimming through a lake, unaware that it's a Portal Pool.
- Secret-Keeper: After Guts mentions to Hestia the name and capabilities of his companions during their walk to meet them, Isma is inwardly surprised that he didn't say anything about her being a merrow to the Goddess, and is thankful to him for it.
- Super Swimming Skills: Isma's magic lets Guts' group swim alongside her as they dive into the lake and enter the cave under it.
- Took a Level in Badass: After seeing his lack of strength, Bell is trained how to fight by Roderick and Azan, while Erica gives him a better dagger than what he has.
- Trapped in Another World: Guts' group ends up in Gakai after they flee from the New Band of The Hawk by swimming into the magic lake, with Schierke telling the group that most of the portals that lead to another world only work one-way.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: Guts' companion likes to verbally jab each other.Schierke: Don't worry, Bell, we can tell you're willing to listen to caution and warnings. Unlike some other people *glances at Isidro*.
Isidro: Oh, come on, is today the day to throw shade at me?
Puck: I thought this was a weekly thing. *laughs*
