Biometal In Network
is a crossover between MegaMan NT Warrior (2002), and Mega Man ZX written by Gammatron
in which Vent of Mega Man ZX and Ashe of Mega Man ZXA are the reincarnations of Network Navigators MegaMan.EXE and Roll.EXE who die at the end of ZXA and reawaken at their beginnings in the anime.
Similarly to the author's other works, elements of other series are also introduced as the story goes along, though it appears to apply ONLY to MegaMan related series. It currently stands at 26 chapters.
This story also has a set of side stories that Word of God has them set up so as to help build up the world, but also not interfere with the main story right ‘‘here
’’. It has 2 chapters at this moment in time.
Biometal In Network provides examples of:
- Adaptational Badass: Several:
- Maylu has learned FullSynchro and was the NetOp to Ashe, who was the Pit King for a few years before stopping because of the early signs of FullSynchro worrying both girls and Model A.
- The trio of Masa, Sal, and Miyu are shown to be much more competent and having better disguises for their alter egos of Commander Beef, Madam Rose, and Mysteriyu. They all have plasma weapons and unique bodysuits and armor that better hide who they really are that are all implied to be built by Ciel.
- Miyu in particular is several times better as a seer. In the games she's able to detect the human soul of Megaman.exe and notices something about Geo. In the anime, she's capable of more or less predicing close future events. Here? she's all aware of the Battle Network and Star Force era plots, and she's even aware of the difference between Tadashi Hikari and Thomas Light, mentions the Game Of Destiny and more things that imply she's seen the entire Mega Man canon from both timelines.
- Roll.EXE, now Ashe, is obvious given she is now Ashe from ‘‘Mega Man ZX’’ and has access to Model A along with FullSynchro and is now much like Vent in that she was, in this timeline, once Kalinka Cossack who was turned into a Net Navi to save her life AND has an Ultimate Program that produces wings of light that produce feathers that heal anyone that is touched by the feathers.
- Lan and Maylu received life-saving operations that turned them into cyborgs like the humans in the ZX/ZXA timeline were.
- ClockMan.EXE is shown to be much stronger than his video game appearance, able to gaze into alternate timelines and summon even more powerful warriors including Copy X and the NT Warrior manga’s Gregar that backfired on him in the end.
- The LifeVirus was already a dangerous being, but enhanced by Model W has allowed it to pull itself and Vent into the Real World for their final battle.
- Adaptational Villainy
- ClockMan.EXE manages to be this because unlike this videogame counterpart that was described simply as a collector of pretty women here his internal thoughts pretty much confirm he plans to have Ashe and Sonia be harem girls and wants them to bear his children... mind you, he kidnapped them and Ashe may be mentally older but she's physically 15 and Sonia is less than 12! and since harem usually implies more than 3 girls...
- Ax-Crazy: Prometheus is a straightforward example
- Almighty Mom: Haruka Hikari is clearly this, having been a professional high school boxer in her youth and implied to be tutoring Gutsman in boxing.
- Artifact of Doom: Model W, which survived its apparent total destruction after Albert's defeat and now it's in the network like the others. It's very likely there are multiple fragments around.
- Berserk Button: Several:
- Ratty Viruses are a major one for Ashe, resulting in her using her Giga Crush attack in the school when just one is used for the class’s Virus Busting class.
- The reason Chaud and Protoman gave for the Deletion of Roze was a major one for Lan and Vent, leading to them giving Protoman and Chaud a Curb-Stomp Battle, Vent even going so far as to declare them Maverick and, for a time, souring Vent completely to any friendship with Protoman.
- Downplayed in how Ciel really dislikes how lots of household appliances have internet connection capabilites, special mention goes to the toilets and human biomechanical prostheses.
- Big Bad:
- WWW leader Lord Wily as usual. His goal was that of his video game and manga counterpart in creating the LifeVirus to send into space and destroy the world by infecting all electronics. It’s implied that Model W was influencing him after a fragment of it was given to Wily to empower the LifeVirus.
- Dr. Weil's mind shows itself in Model W just like the other Biometals when he directly speaks during the battle against LifeVirus model W when he's angry due to mixing up Protoman, Ashe, and Vent for Zero, Axl, and X. This very likely means he was always self-aware and he was manipulating everything in the ZX era too.
- Once WWW falls, Pharaohman takes over for three chapters, flexing his Ultimate Program to take control of systems all over the world to melt the snow upon mountains to create avalanches, use systems to control swarms of locust to attack airports, and even made a satellite fall out of orbit and would’ve destroyed all of DenTech City is not for his deletion.
- Big Brother Instinct / Big Sister Instinct:
- Being Older and Wiser and having seen them die in their previous run in the Battle Network universe, both Vent and Ashe are very protective of what they consider their little siblings now to the point almost all their plans for the near future is to prevent them from making the same mistakes they did the first time around and guiding them better. Ashe in particular has a very bad traumatic default reaction to Maylu being hurt to the point she wants to call an ambulance when both Lan and Maylu fell after doing some parkour even though they barely got a scratch.
- By the Power of Grayskull!: "MEGAMERGE/FULLSYNCHRO"
- Clothes Make the Superman: The Biometals gives the user the armor and the powers of the respective Reploid.
- Courier: Vent was this in his previous lives and was also one in his current life prior to being given to Lan.
- Child Prodigy: From the perspective of the Battle Network timeline residents Ciel certainly looks like this. Her teachers reported seeing her doing college level calculus and also repairing a laptop with ease at the age of four (and those by different school teachers, since she kept outscoring schools and having to move up). Of course, this is because she's a reincarnation of a girl who in her previous life was the result of a biogenetics program aiming to create super genius children which allowed her to build a "perfect" replica of Mega Man X at the age of 10!
- Cyborg/Transhuman:
- Ashe and Vent were these in their previous life. Lan and Maylu are this after needing life-saving surgery after their first use of Biometal Models F and A respectively.
- So are Geo and Sonia, after the surgery became more common in the 22XX.
- Composite Character: In canon, it was unclear if model A was based on Axl or not. Here they truly are the same character.
- Dark and Troubled Past:
- The first lives that Ashe and Vent had ended with Duo.EXE destroying the planet and killing everyone. This is due to a divergence from the canon anime in that CrossFusion MegaMan.EXE didn’t use a Condor BattleChip to fly and save Maylu midfall, but ran up the collapsing roller coaster to save Maylu, only to lose CrossFusion at the last second and Rush having to save Maylu with a cushion of Moloko Viruses. Roll never saw how Maylu was rescued and believed MegaMan did it on purpose and resulted in her shooting him in the gut and ignoring him even after Maylu tells her the truth. Because of how long it took Roll to apologize, Maylu grew hateful and spiteful to her NetNavi and was implied to have grown abusive to her AND Rush while MegaMan locked away his ability to feel love in his grief, going so far as to make a massive password to unlock it and then delete the password from his memories. When it came to the finale of Stream, Duo forcibly ripped the lock open on it and declared that Maylu and MegaMan are why they failed before he glassed the planet and killed everyone, Lan and MegaMan being the last two.
- Ciel and Alouette lost their mother Alia in a car accident that was implied to be the result of someone (likely the WWW) hijacking a car’s systems to attack Oda’s family as a warning.
- Chaud lost his mother Layer to an unknown sickness and then his honorary aunt Alia from a car crash. To not lose Ciel or Alouette, he decided to embrace his rage and hatred to become stronger.
- Darker and Edgier: For the NT Warrior anime thanks to having elements of the games and manga with the troubles of ZX/ZXA added in. People have been shown to be killed, Lan and Maylu have been hospitalized twice so far for different reasons both trips with the second one having them need life-saving surgery to become cyborgs, Haruka was left scarred on her back and is shown to still be recovering from it, and that’s not even getting into Ashe and Vent’s original lives and where they had diverged from the original anime’s timeline. Plus, the story does not tride to hide the fact that when ClockMan.EXE kidnaps Ashe/Roll he's not only planning to have her frozen in time looking pretty but he intends to turn her into his Sex Slave and impregnate her... which means he also plans to do this to Sonia, being especially disturbing since she is a minor less than 12.
- Deadly Upgrade: Those compatible with Biometals can perform a MegaMerge, yes. However, if you are not a NetNavi or a cyborg as were the cases of Ashe and Vent, your body will end up destroying itself and would more than likely kill the user if they do not get a life-saving operation and become a cyborg. Lan and Maylu were the ones to show off this rather deadly result and ended up losing an eye each.
- Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Yes, yes Vent did. To be specific, he used the power of all the Biometals to become the MegaMan King and one-shot the Model W-enhanced LifeVirus with a single swing of his sword.
- The Dreaded:
- Pharaohman. A NetNavi made by Tadashi Hikari that was infected with a bug. He was sealed away by Tadashi only to be released by Pandora. He immediately takes over and seals SciLab’s Network, transforming it with his Ultimate Program Divine Realm, and did it all while wearing a limiter. When the Network is shut down…Pharaohman forcibly turns it back on by removing his limiter.
- Model W. Somehow it survived being destroyed just like the other Biometals with Vent and Ashe and has likely been around for years in the world. A mere fragment of it empowered both MagicMan.EXE and the LifeVirus.
- Model O. The other Biometals except for Model X and Model A all freak out whenever he’s about to be brought up to the point they scream and try to keep Vent from even saying his name. Which makes sense since Model O was the reason a few of them were killed (Fafnir, Leviathan, and Harpuia protecting Zero from his exploding body) or was involved in horrific events they were involved with (the Elf Wars).
- Bass.EXE as always in the Battle Network Franchise. Even Vent using OX couldn’t handle him alone.
- There Is No Kill Like Overkill: Ashe's reaction to seeing a Ratty virus is using Giga Crush on them nearly destroying the cyber class room. This gets her grounded by Maylu and later Model A lampshades how over the top it was.'Model A: [That was overkill…and I normally love doing overkill!]
- Evil Duo:
- BombMan.EXE and StoneMan.EXE.
- Prometheus and Pandora.
- Fun with Acronyms: M.E.G.A. (Meta-Encapsulated Granule Awareness)/R.O.C.K. (Rebirth Of Crystallized Knowledge).
- Fusion Dance: Biometals. Model X can even go further by combining with any other Biometal for combination forms. All of them used together by Vent makes him the MegaMan King.
- Grim Reaper:
- Prometheus's motif.
- Vent meets the real one while he’s dead in a cavern of crystals showing his previous deaths to him.
- Giving Radio to the Romans: Well, more like giving futuristic technnology to the modern humans. The Battle Network era technnology is waaay behind the one of the Post Elf-Wars and Post Neo Arcadia eras, so Ciel takes advantage of the scientific knowledge she got from the alternate timeline in the future to get herself set in life and improve the life of people although she's also restraining herself and doing it gradually since she has yet to introduce the CIEL System. her actions have also changed the future of the Star Force era, since Geo and Sonia turn out to have become cyborgs thanks to the Reploid Operation becoming more standarized 200 years later.
- Henshin Hero: Ashe and Vent along with Lan and Maylu qualify, with the Biometals.
- Kid from the Future: More around 6th to 8th-great-grandkid from the future. Miyu, a seer, specifies that if Lan and Maylu don't end up together and with a kid (Patch Hikari) then "a Shooting Star shall not rise amongst the stars" which signifies Geo Stelar is a descendant of Patch and Miyu identifies him as the one who inherited the title of Mega Man when he arrives from the 22XX to the 20XX. Ashe also notes that Sonia has more or less the same hair shade as Maylu, which would mean she's also descendant of them. Fortunately for Geo and Sonia, enough generations of genetics separates them so it's not an issue that she kisses Geo for saving her or that Miyu confirms they will have seven children together.
- Mistaken Identity:
- Seeing Protoman, Ashe model A, and Vent model X makes Model W aka Dr. Weil think he's fighting Zero, Axl and X... he's not pleased to see them.
- Bass.EXE sees Vent in Model ZX and automatically thinks he's fighting Zero, aka the berserker Zero that killed him when he was Classic Bass... just like the above example, he's pissed!
- Official Couple:
- Vent and Ashe... because they were and are again MegaMan.EXE and Roll.EXE, making them a case of Reincarnation Romance too.
- The original Rock and Roll from the robot timeline were also this, and they are the parents of Mega Man X. Lan is a bit disturbed at the idea until the other Biometals explain to him that since they were robots they didn't actually share DNA.
- Reincarnation: Several people hold this in the current timeline:
- Vent and Ashe are DOUBLE Reincarnations. First of their original selves, then of Vent and Ashe, and now back to their original lives but in their second lives’ bodies.
- Ciel is the second oldest known Reincarnation, having been the Ciel of ‘‘Mega Man Zero’’. Her current life is the daughter of a Takamisaki Oda and Alia Oda.
- Alouette is the youngest Reincarnation and was Vent’s mother figure in his previous life who had been killed by Prometheus and Pandora when they stole the Biometals prior to ZXA. She is now Ciel’s blood-related sister who loves being a little girl again.
- Bass.EXE is the Reincarnation of the Classic Bass, having thought his past life was just an odd dream until he encounters Vent when he was using Model ZX and then OX. It’s implied that Zero killed him in his original life.
- Shout-Out:
- It’s implied that Vent has been showing Lan ‘‘Red vs. Blue’’.
- Apparently, Haruka and Yuichiro went to watch ‘‘Real Steel’’ for a date.
- When Lan first sees Coloredman, he freaks and thinks he’s from ‘‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’’.
- Super Mode:
- Model X has the power of the Overdrive Invoke System, enhancing the powers of a Double MegaMerge significantly at the cost of quickly draining the Biometal.
- Model ZX’s Overdrive requires Models H, L, P, and F to not be drained in order to activate it due to how powerful it is.
- Model OX’s Overdrive can override Pharaohman’s Ultimate Program.
- MegaMan King is created from Vent using ALL the Biometals at once and oneshot the LifeVirus W when it tried to kill him with a giant sword swing.
- Time Travel: Several examples.
- After their first time as Megaman.EXE and Roll.EXE in the 20XX and their first death, they both reincarnated as Vent and Ashe... in the 25XX of another timeline where robotics were more developped over internet.
- And after dying yet again, Vent and Ashe are again in the 20XX of a new timeline. Not only did they retain their apparences of the 25XX, but they also woke up each one in the day they met Lan and Maylu respectively.
- Several other characters also reincarnated in the past of this new timeline.
- Geo and Sonia come from the future of this world, from the 22XX post Star Force 3.
- Vent actually had an encounter with a younger Geo of Star Force 1 which is implied to be a form of Stable Time Loop.
- ClockMan.EXE is capable of summoning beings from different parts of the two timelines to fight for him.
