Beyond His Darkest Stars
is a The Owl House and Harry Potter crossover where Dumbledore sends a post-Goblet of Fire Draco Malfoy to the Boiling Isles right at the start of season one of the former's story.
- Abusive Parents: The second chapter reveals that Lucius inflicts injuries on Draco as punishments, like failing to befriend Harry or being outperformed by Hermione. The only reason he's not Covered in Scars is because of magical healing. Eda can see the signs and is keeping Draco in the Demon Realm partially because of it.
- Ambiguous Situation: A lot about Draco's situation is initially unclear. Where did Dumbledore get Titan's Blood, and why did he use it to send Draco to the Isles? Why can't he use his wand there when his broom still works?
- Armor-Piercing Question:
- When Eda asks if there's something that Draco is scared of, he flinches, which is all the answer she needs.
- When Eda and Draco are talking about Earth potions, Eda gets tired of going over recipes, and asks him what each ingredient actually does, which he can't answer.
- After Draco says that he's glad that he lacks a bile sac, Eda asks him where his magic comes from instead then. He's unable to answer, as he was only ever told that some people have magic and others do not.
- When Draco notes that his parents must be worried sick by his absence, Eda asks if those are the same parents that taught him to hate people like Luz, causing him to snap his jaw shut.
- When Draco makes a comment on how sometimes people need a good kick at their ego to get them to back off, Willow asks him how he knows that, cottoning onto his past bullying behavior.
- Color-Coded Wizardry: The color of a witch's spell circles is believed to usually reflect who they are. For example, blue is usually seen in calm, peaceful people, with many ending up in the Healing Coven.
- Didn't Think This Through: Draco twice in Chapter 4. Firstly he tries searching for Eda's portal door, only to soon realize that not only does he have no idea what it looks like, but that Eda probably has defenses on it. Then, he starts doing things like throwing out Eda's apple blood to annoy her into sending him back to Earth, not considering that the other Owl House residents might retaliate.
- Drama-Preserving Handicap: Draco finds that his magic doesn't work in the Isles, apparently due to the ambient magic not recognizing his Language of Magic, preventing him from resisting Eda or fighting against a certain puppeteer Demon.
- Fantastic Slur: When he gets mad at Luz in Chapter 3, Draco calls her "mudblood". Eda, though not knowing exactly what the slur means, realizes that it is a slur, and tells him that he'll be sleeping outside if he does it again.
- How Do I Shoot Web: Draco has to relearn how to use his magic in the Demon Realm. Even when he figures out how to cast spells again, some don't work, implying that he's still missing something.
- Language of Magic: Discussed by Luz and Draco, the former suggesting that the reason Draco's wand stopped working after he ended up in the Demon Realm is because his spells are pseudo-Latin, and since Latin isn't really a thing in the Demon Realm the ambient magic isn't listening to him. Draco notes that she may be onto something, remembering how when he visited France he had to put a French accent on his spells to make them have the same effect as they normally do.
- "Not So Different" Remark: Draco mentally notes that the Emperor's Coven is in a lot of ways similar to the Death Eaters.
- Trapped in Another World: Dumbledore sends Draco to the Boiling Isles using Titan's Blood, and Eda's too interested in his human magic to let him use the portal door at the moment.
- Villain Takes an Interest: After word of Draco's abilities reaches Belos, he orders Hunter to try and subtly capture him and bring him to Belos.
- Wrong Context Magic: Eda is surprised to learn that some humans have magic, and keeps Draco around mainly to get some more information on it, with the second chapter noting that potions on Earth versus the Isles are different. He's also never seen anything like Bard magic before, as using music to cast spells is incredibly rare and considered impractical on Earth. Glyphs are even more baffling to him, as the fact that Luz, a muggle, can do magic with a glyph is supposedly impossible, yet he's seeing it happen anyway.
