"Beast City" is a DeviantArt based Monster AU Crossover fanfiction created by users kinghammer413, D952006, and hamursh. It combines Monster AU versions of several different TV shows and movies put together in a single large community.

The fanfiction is about a young werewolf named Alex Johnson, his gargoyle sister Stephanie, and their father Dave moving from the small town of Clawton to Beast City, where they now live in a castle owned by Franny, Alex and Stephanie's grandmother. They make friends with the other monster kids who live there, and form a club called the Scream Team.

Various stories feature the club members getting into all sorts of crazy and magical adventures, ranging from throwing wild parties to stopping criminals. New stories are added at varying frequencies.

The first story, entitled "The Big Move" was posted to DeviantArt on July 27, 2024, you can also check the wiki here. Plus a list of all the TV shows and movies from which the characters originate.

"Beast City" contains examples of the following:

  • Adaptational Badass: Since monsters like to scare (humans or even other monsters), Dipper, Bubbles, Karen Beecher, Chuckie Finster, Shaggy, Lincoln Loud and others seem to be tougher and scarier in this fanfic.
  • Adaptational Friendship:
    • Aside from rivals being friends, this also gives tons of friendships to other shows like Ash and Tai, Lincoln and TJ and Finster and Kisskillya! Even the cast of The Loud House, The Casagrandes and Primos are quite chummy with each other!
  • Adaptational Heroism:
    • Bonnie Rockwaller, Dr Hamsterviel, Pacifica Northwest and Harleen Quinzel are part of the Scream Team (even if the latter still likes villainy)
    • Since Masquerade doesn't exist in this AU, Hydranoid has been Alice's partner Bakugan right from the start.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In their show of origin, Candace tries to bust her brothers when they invent something. Here though, with chaos being the norm, she actually encourages them to build, and actively takes part in many of the Scream Team's adventures. She still likes to bust, but focuses that energy on the Scream Team's enemies, and is far more successful.
    • In the story "Hands Off, Homer!", the running gag of Bart getting throttled by his dad bothers their friends, and they try to put an end to it. After an attempt fails, and nearly costs Alex his life, Bart stands up to Homer and says he is tired of being treated like that. Homer realizes he has been a bad father, and promises to never do it again. To asure this, Scratch curses the both of them. From that point on, whenever Bart acts snarky towards his father, he get sprayed by a scent he can't ever get used to, while Homer redirects his frustrations towards a special pillow.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: There are moments where Franken-Mollie, Kari, Bubbles, Lincoln, Karen and Chlimmy can act genuinely scary.
  • Big Bad: Charleston Dark, an evil wizard who supplies weapons and dark magic to other villains, serves as the main antagonist.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: In addition to Bug-type Pokémon and Insectoid Digimon, there are arachne like Nabiki, Shelby and Nadine, insect-human hybrids like Tyler, and even human-sized arthropods like Maggie Pesky and her family.
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: Lola does this in the story "Tricks and Treats of the Trade" when she lists off apples, candy and nuts for a Halloween feast then she says "Candy apples with nuts."
  • Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: Also in "Tricks and Treats of the Trade" where some of the Halloween activities are listed off "Trick or treating, going to parties, getting candy, scaring mortals."
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Parody: The story "Crazy Chocolate Tour" has Spencer as our Charlie Bucket along with the rest of the Scream Team touring a candy factory owned by the OC chocolate wizard Chockly Shocko.
  • Crossover: The biggest Monster AU crossover ever!
  • Cute Witch: Pretty much a lot of the witches in here are quite attractive.
  • Elemental Powers: Elementals are a type of monster in this world, and have different abilities. Among the Scream Team, we have:
    • Dan Kuso, Hank Hill and Rei: Fire
    • Shun Kazami: Wind
    • Marucho Makura and Scooter Perez: Water
    • Julie Makimoto: Earth
    • Runo Misaki: Light
    • Alice Gehabich: Darkness
    • Norm McFarlane: Ice
    • Cousin Bud Humphreynote : Nature
    • Marcus Snarkus: Electricity
    • Aang on the other hand... well since he's the Avatar, he has the whole package.
  • Evolutionary Levels: In addition to their DNA Digivolved Ultimates, Veemon, Hawkmon, Armadillomon, and Wormmon each have their own distinct Ultimate and Mega forms in this AU.
    • Veemon>ExVeemon>AeroVeedramon>UlforceVeedramon
    • Hawkmon>Aquilamon>Butenmon>Chronomon Holy Mode
    • Armadillomon>Ankylomon>Gogmamon>Blastmon
    • Wormmon>Stingmon>JewelBeemon>BanchoStingmon
      • Davis, Yolei, Cody, TK, Kari, and Ken's D-Terminals also hold the data for all the Armor Digi-Eggs, so all thier partner's possible Armor forms are accessible. For instance, they all use the Digi-Egg of Courage to fight Clawdia's Beefsteak in "Lynn Sr.'s Foodon Dreams".
  • Familiar : Luz has Stringbean, Amity has Ghost, Eda has Owlbert, Gus Porter has Flapjack, Willow has Clover, Angelica has Fluffy, Dawn has Piplup, Ursula has Plusle and Minun, Sakura has Kero, Zee has her rabbits, Usagi has Luna, Kagome has Buyo, Sango has Kirara, Merian has her adoptive sister Tara, Twilight Sparkle has Spike and Mimi has Romulus. Lori on the other hand has a harder time finding a perfect familiar so she alternates between Cliff (a hellhound), Charles (a nekomata), Walt (a cockatrice) and Geo (a hinezumi)
  • Fur Against Fang : Averted since there can be vampire and werewolf siblings like Lynn (werewolf) and Lucy Loud (vampire) and couples like Andrea and Darryl, Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable, TK and Kari and others.
  • Good Witch Versus Bad Witch: While there are tons of witches, not all of them are evil, with the exception of Boscha.
  • Gorgeous Gorgon : Bonnie Rockwaller, Tiffany Von Hoodenburg, Pacifica Northwest, Pike Queen Lucy and pretty much every other gorgon fit this.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck! : There are stories where the characters don't swear and some where they ACTUALLY swear (depends on the writer). The story "The Word is Out" has Angelica saying "shit" and Princess Morbucks hears it but Lola tells Angelica about the word and... well you'll have to read it to find out!
  • Hammerspace: Stephanie wears a fanny pack from which she can pull out anything.
  • Happily Adopted: In this universe, Timmy and Chloe were found as an egg by Cosmo and Wanda, who have raised them as their own kids since.
  • Hermaphrodite: Often called "herms" for short. They are quite common in this universe, and usually have multiple heads. There are also special bathrooms for their use.
  • Hold Your Hippogriffs: While this doesn't have as much monster puns as Monster High, it does have times where they use monster words.
  • Hot Skitty-on-Wailord Action: Any two kinds of monsters can get married and have offspring.
  • Hot Witch: Luz, Amity, Lori, Eda, Zee, Sakura, Dawn, Mimi, Kagome, Carol Pingey, Nani, Merian and other witches apply to this!
  • It's a Wonderful Plot: One of the holiday episodes "It's a Miserable Afterlife" has Scratch wishing that he had never been a ghost and becomes a human named Todd and later turns back into the ghost we all know and love.
  • Jumping Out of a Cake: Luz and Anne do it in the story "Birthday Beast".
  • "Mission: Impossible" Cable Drop: In the story "Taro's Secrets", Leni uses some of her bandages to let Yuna into Taro's house all paying homage to the 1996 Tom Cruise film.
  • Mon: Pokémon, Digimon, Bakugan, Foodons, and Duel Monsters monsters all live side by side with their owners.
  • Monster Mash: And how!
  • Multiple Head Case:
    • The Scream Team has several examples, including Molly and Ollie; the T-Sisters; the Nach Bros; Timmy and Chloe; Frank and Len; Ruffnut and Tuffnut; CatDog; Scooby-Doo; and Alpha Hydranoid.
    • Outside the Scream Team, there's the Delightful Monsters from Down the Lane; Beastly and Shreeky; and Misha's parents, just as a few examples.
  • My Parents Are Dead: Played for laughs and justified because in Beast City, dead parents are undead and living like Lilo's parents as Hawaiian Voodoo Zombies.
  • Namesake Institution: The school is named Forrest J Ackerman High School after the late sci-fi writer and monster magazine publisher Forrest J Ackerman.
  • Nightmare Fuel: There are times when the Scream Team truly and genuinely give out scary faces (honestly that's what being a monster is all about, scaring the pants off of anybody)
    • Nightmare Retardant: On the flipside, while all these monsters are scary, they're grounded as real people.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot:
    • In addition to being aliens, the experiments are also certain kinds of monsters. Stitch and Angel are vampires, Reuben is a zombie, Sparky is a frankenmonster, Bonnie and Clyde are mummies, Dupe is a gremlin, etc.
    • That also goes for Pokemon, Digimon and Ham-Hams.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Sometimes it's half and half. In the story "Monster Movie" they put in a gorgon version of Great Girwig named Linda Earwig and other times they will reference Kurt Cobain, Whitney Houston, Aaron Carter, Larry King and David Lynch by name (since they're already dead and reside in Gravesburg)
  • No Full Name Given: Several characters whose surnames were never revealed in their media of origin are given them in this AU. Here are a few examples:
    • Misty's last name is Waterflower, and Brock's is Harrison.
    • Misha's last name is Kumari.
    • In addition to Chip, all the StuGo characters have surnames. Pliny's is Gunadi, after her voice actor along with Larry Wilson, Francis Morgan, Sara Mitchell and Merian Roberts.
    • On top of the Lilo and Stitch characters like Teresa Baxter, Elena Chapman, Yuki Takahashi, Victoria Deja, Taro Tomoenodo, Sasha Orikasa, Penny Sekuma and Foster's character Mac Cracken among others.
  • Noir Episode: The story "The Case of the Swiped Statue" has Franken-Mollie playing the role of a private detective clearing Darryl's name with shoutouts to several noir movies including Casablanca, Chinatown and Roger Rabbit complete with Molly narrating.
  • One-Steve Limit: Several characters tend to share first names, so they are referred to by their last names or initials for easier distinguishing. For example, there's Max Randall, Max Taylor, and Max Maple.
  • Our Centaurs Are Different: Dipper Pines is a deertaur in this universe, while Ellen McFarlane (Chuck and Norm's mom) is a gazelletaur. Lita Perez is a panthertaur.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: One story has Lincoln explaining various ghost varieties.
  • Our Hydras Are Different: The T-Sisters and the Striaton City Gym Leaders are examples of three-headed specimens.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: On top of drinking the blood soft drink Plasmic Fizz, vampires like Andrea Davenport, Dennis Harper, Ash Ketchum, Tai Kamiya, Babs Gordon, Lucy Loud, Phineas and Candace Flynn, Stitch and Angel and Sam Manson all wear an enchanted collar with a gold medallion which makes them survive in the sunlight.
  • Our Werebeasts Are Different: In addition to werewolves like Alex, we have weretigers like Tater; werebirds like Anne; weredinosaurs such as Lunella and the D-Team; and even weredragons like Hiccup and his friends.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: Ranging from traditional zombies like Beavis and Butt-Head and Hal Jordan to voodoo zombies like Clyde, Lilo and Tracey all the way to jiangshi like Emmie, Ty Lee and Syaoran.
  • Promotion to Love Interest: In the show they come from, Chuck and Misha are just best friends. Here, it is revealed that they have feelings for each other, even though it takes a while to admit it. The same thing was done for Ryoga Hibiki and Ukyo Kuonji and Shadow and Rouge.
  • Psychotic Smirk: Lincoln, Dipper, Spencer, Stitch, Mollie, Bubbles, Pikachu, practically every monster who has a smirk does this.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Werewolves like Kim Possible and Darryl McGee use this.
  • Put on a Bus: In "The Great Scream-Off", after Shreeky loses the contest to Candace, she and Beastly are banished to an endless void by the Beyonder. They haven't been mentioned since.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: The Scream Team is basically this.
  • Random Species Offspring: In addition to the example above, any kind of monster can be born to parents of different kinds. Just look at the Louds!
  • Really 700 Years Old: Although Cosmo and Wanda look like in their 30s, they're actually thousands of years old or in another case, while Ash Ketchum might have been around for centuries, he's actually 12.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Timmy and Chloe are twins in this AU.
  • Romantic Fusion:
    • Molly McGee and Ollie Chen are a two-headed frankenmonster in this world, fused by Libby to save their lives after an accident, and they are in a romantic relationship with each other.
    • Similarly, Misha's mom and dad are also fused, and they resemble Ardhanarishvara.
  • Self-Insert Fic: Starting with "Birthday Beast", D952006 and hamursh include OCs based on themselves in the Scream Team. D952006 is a wereraptor named Derek Clawson, and hamursh is an arachne named Harry Scaremaster.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Luna Loud is frequently annoyed by Frank and Len having a crush on her.
  • Shipper on Deck: Franken-Mollie, the Loud sisters, Anne, and Tater all ship Chuck and Misha together, and even set up a date for them in "A Beast City Valentine".
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Milton Greenback (a rich and spoiled goblin OC made for this fanfic) is this to the Scream Team.
  • Slasher Smile: Played for laughs most of the time but there are some times when Mollie, Shippo, Meowth and even Lincoln brandish slasher smiles.
  • Sweet and Sour Grapes: In the Beast City adaptation of The Loud House episode "A Tattler's Tale", Lola confesses to Rita about blackmailing the Scream Team and then the Scream Team forgive her and let her into the secrets club.
  • The Grim Reaper: Pete McGee is one in this AU alongside Principal Tezuka from Tokyo Pig.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Considering that weirdness is the norm in Beast City, this is the typical reaction.
  • Waxing Lyrical: Luna Loud wouldn't be Luna without her naming songs in sentences. Other Scream Teamers do this as well. Artists referenced include Ace of Base, Def Leppard, George Througood and Isaac Hayes.
  • You Meddling Kids: Not just for the Scooby gang but for the Scream Team in general.
