Summary on A new tournament forces Yugi and friends to confront an old evil they thought they sealed away, while an old friend struggles with the darkness he thought he defeated...Prepare yourselves, for Atlantis shall rise again... Pairs: Yugi/Téa, Joey/Mai, Marik/OC.

Set six years after the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters series finale, the story revolves around a tournament held by a man shrouded in mystery, whose plans for the cast run far deeper than a mere competition. Meanwhile, Marik Ishtar is fighting his own battles as he tracks a thief across the Middle East, while an old darkness stirs within his soul once again...


Atlantis Rising Contains Examples of

  • Artifact of Doom: The Orichalcos.
  • The Atoner: Dartz, who is still around thanks to the revival of the Orichalcos, gives crucial information to Yugi and his friends to how defeat the Orichalcos.
  • Cool Sword: Three of them. The Legendary Knights of Atlantis each possessed a powerful sword which their distant descendants must find in order to defeat the villain.
  • Damsel in Distress: At different points in the story, both Sivya and Téa are kidnapped and must be rescued. Averted in Téa's case, as she manages to escape.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Odion gives himself up to the Orichalcos so that his brother can overcome his dark side. Marik is driven by a determination to get him back for the rest of the fic.
  • Instant Awesome: Just Add Dragons!: Aaron uses a Dragon deck and he's not bad using it.

  • Malevolent Masked Men: Midas, the Big Bad of the story.
  • Only the Chosen May Wield: Yugi, Joey and Kaiba are the only ones who can safely touch the swords their Atlantean ancestors once wielded.

    • Aaron, a retired Mosad agent who has a history with Ishizu, who helps Marik while he's persuing Tshilaba.
    • And of course, Midas, the fic's main villain, and his subordinates.
  • Ship Tease: There is Yugi and Tea, Mai and Joey, Kaiba and Ishizu and even Valon and Serenity.
  • Simple Staff: Sivya has one of these, and knows how to use it.
  • Split Personality: Yami Marik is revived thanks to the influence of the Orichalcos stone Marik carries with him.
