A Slightly Different Team
is a RWBY fanfic on FanFiction.Net by Grymloq. The basic premise is that most of the cast (particularly Team RWBY) have different personalities than in canon. How different they are varies, but suffice to say almost nobody is exactly the same.

- Adaptational Villainy: Ironwood. He's working with the White Fang, in the same manner as Roman does in canon.
- Berserk Button: Do not call Blake angry.
- NEVER mess with Yang's flask.
- Butt-Monkey: Jaune, even more so than in canon. He doesn't get any badass moments to make up for it, either.
- Deadpan Snarker: Weiss, oh so very much.
- Driven to Villainy: Ironwood, due to losing his position as General, which Winter gained.
- Expy: Blake's new personality is awfully similar to that of Dan from Dan Vs..
- General Failure: Ironwood was this, according to Weiss.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Blake.
- I Do Not Own: Like most fanfics, although the author makes a perverted comment with them on every even-numbered chapter.
- I'm a Humanitarian: Apparently, the Schnee Dust Company's lawyers are cannibals.
- Jerkass: All of Team RWBY, but especially Weiss.
- Large Ham: Winter. Her introduction has her drop down from a gaudily colored airship and literally kick open the cafeteria doors.
- Lovable Sex Maniac: Yang, although the "lovable" part is debatable.
- Marshmallow Hell: Yang subjects Ruby to this whenever she hugs her.
- No Indoor Voice: All of Winter's dialogue is in all caps.
- Nominal Hero: Our girls may be opposing the bad guys like in canon, but they're not exactly saints.
- Obligatory Swearing: This fic has South Park levels of profanity.
- Out of Character: Pretty much the premise of the fic, really.
- Pungeon Master: Yang, obviously, but Cinder as well. In fact, the latter may have taught the former.
- Really Gets Around: Yang. She managed to score a threesome with Coco and Yatsuhashi (although she wound up making a pun so bad it killed the mood), banged Velvet, and even nailed Glynda.
- Rich Bitch: Weiss, of course. Emphasis on "bitch." She doesn't even deny it.
- Sex Is Violence: Ruby might fall into this.
- Shout-Out: So, so many, particularly to Team Four Star.
- Sir Swears-a-Lot: Even though pretty much everybody in the fic (as well as the fic itself) has a potty mouth, Weiss is particularly noticeable. Just about every sentence to come out of her mouth contains at least one curse word, and every chapter from Chapter 2 onward has her saying some different variation on the phrase "I don't give a fuck."
- Surrounded by Idiots: Ironwood, as the White Fang is considerably less competent than in canon.
- Too Dumb to Live: Most of the White Fang Mooks are this quite literally.
- Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe: Winter, for some reason.
