Part of The Weedverse, A Day In The Cookie Court
is a side-story to ''The Perilous Romance Of Swans' and written by Kudzuhaiku.
Prince Gosling, like his wives, holds court periodically. Unlike his wives, he invites the foals of Equestria to hear what they have to say.
This fanfic contains examples of:
- As You Know: The rules of the Court are explained to Flapjack during her petition, despite the fact she's already been told them. This is justified in-universe by her being very, very scared and not having remembered.
- Book Dumb: Flapjack, due to being uneducated. Justified, as the story is about her coming to petition for more resources for her school.
- Continuity Nod: The Court is named after the argument between Celestia and Luna in The Perilous Romance Of Swans, and Gosling's Third Option.
- Fantastic Racism: The Exchequer agent mentioned believes that earth ponies don't need an education.
- Frivolous Lawsuit: Acknowledged as a potential problem, but Gosling has explicitly made rules against it, and the case shown is not one of these.
- From the Mouths of Babes: The Cookie Court is a deliberate attempt to Invoke this by Gosling, as well as to get the foal's confidence early, rather than letting them grow up jaded.
- It Will Never Catch On: Although we only see the first session of the Court, that session is a success, and it's implied that it will continue, despite the derision of the newspapers.
- Obstructive Bureaucrat: The problem that Flapjack has come to talk about, with a side of Fantastic Racism, her school is not getting the resources it needs because the Exchequer agent won't pay them the money he should.
- Right on Queue: The lines for the first day of the Cookie Court are apparently extensive.
- That Wasn't a Request: The response, should the Exchequer Agent refuse his royal audience.
