Fallen Princesses in Fan Works.

Crossovers
  • In The Bridge Adagio Dazzle fits this figuratively and literally. She is still snide, scheming, and proud Alpha Bitch; but deep down she's a Lovable Alpha Bitch and all of her behavior is born out of stress from caring for her cousin and baby sister after her aunt Hymnia died when they were outcast of no fault of their own. She is also literally royalty as her mother, Melpomene was the crown princess with her and her little sister Hymnia being daughters of the mermare queen.
  • The Night Unfurls: Exaggerated for Olga. She starts off as The Dreaded Queen of the Dark Elves, only to suffer defeat in the hands of the Black Dogs, and is taken prisoner. She even goes through an extra Break the Haughty sequence in the remastered version.
  • Transcendence (Avatar): Both Amity and Luz:
    • Amity is the next Avatar; however, her powers were mistaken for wild witch magic, so the Blights forced her to live in seclusion, terrified of what might happen if her abilities were discovered.
    • Luz's mother is the current head of the White Lotus organization. However, Luz has made so many mistakes that she was sent on a Snipe Hunt for the next Avatar, out of the hope that her travels would force her to mature and become more 'normal'.

Disgaea

  • Wolf in the Streets, Sardine in the Sheets: After her father's fall from grace, Seraphina winds up at Valvatorez's rehabilitation home for troubled youth. At first, she's a Princess in Rags who's in abject denial over her circumstances, rejecting Valvatorez's efforts to teach her how to take care of herself. After the place is attacked by the Lost, however, she has a Jerkass Realization and starts defrosting, making more of an effort to help out.

Fullmetal Alchemist

  • In build your wings on the way down, Gabby/Catherine Armstrong is implied to have had a falling out with her family since she lives in a crumbling apartment with her Ishvalan boyfriend and attends university. Also she told Hughes to tell her brother to "go fuck himself."

Love Hina

  • Contract Labor:
    • Motoko goes through an extended Break the Haughty Humiliation Conga after attacking Keitaro over a misunderstanding. Not only does this get her evicted from the Hinata Inn, her family is so disgusted by her actions and refusal to admit her mistakes that they strip her of her status as Heir to the Dojo, banishing her from their family and forbidding her from practicing their arts until she proves to them that she's learned her lesson. She finds herself living in a shoddy apartment, working as a waitress in a cosplay-cafe in order to support herself. With the support of her coworkers (along with not wanting to lose her job), she gradually grows out of her misandry.
    • Kaolla Su is a Downplayed version. Despite being high in the line of succession to Molmol's throne and not having to worry about money, she prefers living in a girl's dormitory in Japan and being treated like a regular girl.
  • For His Own Sake: Kaolla Su winds up as one after being arrested for unleashing an army of exploding Mecha-Tamas at the Kuromitsu Inn. What she saw as a 'fun game' is treated as an international incident, dramatically cooling the relationship between Japan and Molmol.

Marvel Universe

  • Mary Jane Watson in Ultimate Spider-Woman is a partial example. While she's certainly got the beauty, talent, and apparent social standing to qualify as a "princess", and she now only hangs out with a few close friends while struggling to make ends meet, her powers have nothing to do with her isolation and her friends aren't really geeks.
