Darth Wiki / World Of Mayrin

Go To

World of Mayrin contains examples of:

  • Everyone Is Bi: Not everyone, necessarily, but a larger percentage of the population in Mayrin is bi/pansexual than would be statistically likely in the real world.
  • Have You Tried Not Being a Monster?: Sorcerers, in this world, are a stigmatized group in society, seen as "unnatural" for the inherent magic they were born with. Many keep their sorcery a closely guarded secret, especially where hate groups such as The Destined are present.
  • Life Imitates Art: In order to get the BOIS out of the quarantined city of Breaca, Astrid claimed that there were "Portals to the Abyss" threatening Monark. When they reached the city, Anastasia summoned Togmauth from the black orb, which opened an actual portal to the Abyss.
  • Two Girls to a Team: Runa and Astrid being the only two female party members.
  • Terrible Trio: The Destined have two terrible trios, the Bishops, and Howard's own entourage consisting of himself, Kayden Williams, and Cynthia Dageress.
  • Weird Moon: Mayrin has three moons Lumos, Albos, and Umbros.

Characters:

The BOIS:

    Astrid Rowan-Westra
  • Parental Abandonment: Astrid lost not one, not two, but four parents by the time she was twelve. The list is still growing.
  • The Hunter Becomes the Hunted: Astrid was sent on a mission by the Raven Queen to find and kill a specific vampire. Too bad Darya found her first.
  • Trauma-Induced Amnesia: Astrid somehow lost all recollection of four years of her life without realizing it (and only discovered this upon realizing that she was sixteen, not twelve like she had thought). This could be due to Astrid repressing her memories of being experimented on by the Destined or a particularly strong Modify Memory spell.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: Her childhood home was burned down right in front of her, with her parents trapped inside.
    Eamon Ferrorum
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Eamon primarily fights with two swords, which wouldn't be much of a problem if he didn't specialize in dueling.
  • Fallen Angel: Eamon is a rare example of a fallen aasimar who fell before he ever was able to transform. This must have happened at some point during his childhood, but he just doesn't remember how.
  • Good Feels Good: After his solo mission with Dario and Mettia, Eamon had a change of heart about the wellbeing of the people around him, even those who are not on his side, switching his alignment from lawful neutral to lawful good, and swearing a paladin's oath to protect his country. He figured out these feelings after Mettia nearly killed him out of fear and he still felt compelled to heal her.
  • Lineage Comes from the Father: Like his dad, Eamon is an aasimar, while his mom is just a standard human. In addition, the noble side of Eamon's family can be traced back through his father's line.
  • Skeleton Motif: Fitting with his edgelord aesthetic, even his transformation into his aasimar form comes complete with hollow black eyes, translucent skin, and glowing skeletal wings.
  • Slave to PR: His lawful neutral alignment is primarily the result of an almost unhealthy obsession with public approval, which in turn stems from his current status as an ambassador (and future status as a nobleman If his parents let him come back home at all).
  • Terror Hero: Much of Eamon's usefulness in battle comes from his ability to transform into a skeletal nightmare being when he is agitated or afraid, scaring his enemies into backing away.
  • Wardrobe Wound: Eamon's encounter with a horde of zombies left his clothes covered in blood and guts. Rather than washing them like a normal person would, he decided to throw them away and buy a new set.
  • You Didn't Ask: So many of the party's issues would be at least partially solved if Eamon had said something in time, especially after he Started getting prophetic visions from his deva, but alas, he is not the sort of person to share anything willingly without being asked. Sometimes repeatedly.
    Genitos
  • Outliving One's Offspring: Genitos, whose 18-month old daughter died suddenly and tragically, causing him to search for a way to bring her back to life.
    Helion Pike
    Ivan
    Kopulus Drakenzex
    Runa Raudspar
  • Close to Home: Watching Bella's death at the hands of Astrid and her glaive sent Runa into intense distress, possibly because her father was killed the same way right in front of her.
  • The Smurfette Principle: Now that Astrid has been recaptured by Howard Moreau, Runa is the only girl left on the team.
    Tilak Redmond

Eclipse Merchant Band:

    Effrit
  • The Gambler: In a literal sense. A lot of the time she can be found playing cards with Borus, she was also one of two members of Eclipse to enter the Dragon Gambit tournament.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: She plays the tomboy to Delilah's girly girl.

The Crimson Wright:

    Gozen Kirigo
    Esme Gulzar
    Jin Zhao
  • It's Personal: The entire Crimson Wright may have had issues with Baron De Luca, but for Jin, killing him was an act of revenge for the murder of his parents and the uprooting of his entire life.
    Kai Ishi
    Xerxes Artabanus
    Yotaro Ito

The Destined:

    Carson Montgomery
  • Enemy Mine: Temporarily teamed up with the BOIS to kill an Annis Hag. This alliance didn't last long after the hag got away.
  • Smoke Out: Used the spell Fog Cloud to cover his escapes, to various degrees of success.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Carson's escape to being caught ratio is the highest among the party's enemies.
    Howard Moreau
  • Beard of Evil: Sports a well groomed goatee, in case the superiority complex and human experimentations were too subtle
  • Faux Affably Evil: Howard is surprisingly polite compared to the others in the Destined, but his good manners drop immediately when feels like he needs to rub something in. He also drops his polite demeanor when taunted or mocked as Eamon found out

Graywalkers:

    Caleb Elrike
    Ursa

Kahsran Characters:

    Amber Sephtis
  • Action Girl: Buff and always ready for a fight.
  • Socially Awkward Hero: She is the Knight Commander to the Everlight Dominion and is more than willing to demonstrate why. But in social situations she retreats to the far end of the room and waits till it's over.
  • Team Mom: To Gastun, Pascal, and Mettia
    Mettia Lamara
    Julian Ontclair

Other Characters:

    Dario Martel
  • Cool Mask: Dario, whose iconic mask has the dual purpose of casting Calm Emotions and making him look 200% cooler at any given time.
  • Healing Hands: Part in parcel of being a Paladin.
    Darya Von Harker
    Kagenaka
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: Has a large burn mark covering the left side of his neck that partially spreads to his face.
  • Hero Killer: Killed Rorian during the fight, marking the first important character death in the campaign.
    Roman Dallister
    Rorian
  • Back from the Dead: After getting killed by Kagenaka, Rorian's body was brought to the capital in hopes of reviving him. The ritual was successful, albeit with some side effects.
  • Fiery Stoic: Rorian is a patient and caring father, who also happens to be able to summon a wildfire spirit to scorch his enemies in battle.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Rorian found himself on the receiving end of Kagenaka's glaive, running him through the chest, and, for the time being, taking him out for good.
  • Resurrection Sickness: After the taxing ordeal of being brought back to life, Rorian was too weak to travel back home, causing him and Saga to have to stay with the BOIS for an extra week.
