Darth Wiki / Wonderful!

Go To

Inspired by Paramore's Brick by Boring Brick, and Vigilant Citizen's review of the song, Wonderful is a series composed in a fanfic/book like manner. The series itself is narrated by the main hero, Noland, and takes place both in the real world and in a fanciful world of magic. It is told in a very sad, depressing fashion, as the narrator is retelling tragic events in his past. It's heavily implied that the main cast save for Noland suffer terrible fates. A surprisingly good read; search for it with a search engine.

Tropes appearing in this work:

  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: After Noland finishes recounting the events of the story, it leaps into the present with Noland directly confronting The Illuminati, along with the other realcharacters in the story.
  • Shout-Out:
    • A lot. Vigilant Citizen and Paramore are the most prominent examples, as the series is inspired by Brick By Boring Brick, and Noland seems to be an expy(I guess you can call him that) of Vigilant Citizen
    • A whole lot of nods to Monarch programming and mind control too. Noland was the second person (the first being Clingox) to notice just how eerie were the similarities to the process of creating a mind control slave, and what the effect the world was having on Cecile.
  • Unreliable Narrator: Noland, although it isn't intentional, and everything he talks about did happen, however the sad, regretful way he retells the events of the story imply that the cast, and possibly him, suffered some terrible fate. This is not the case, Noland only tells the story this way because Cecile, went mad, and he failed to protect her, just as the Illuminati had hoped.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Clingox, the "Creator" of the world of magic, is a major villain, toward the end of the main cast time in said world of magic, and wishes to destroy it. With a very good reason, the world ruins lives, and if you stay there too long you'll begin to realize it's a hindrance. Once you actually do, it'll be too late.
