"Urania" is a French Narrative Play-by-Post Game played on the IRC Chat Box. As suggested, it is more focused on narration and Worldbuilding while game mechanics are left to the barest.
Originally created by users Aoboshi and Elsay in 2012, they were quickly joined by users Luke Hakurei, Jealousy Mizuhasi and Fitz. It has known it's high and it's lows between 2012 and 2016 were the RP was rebooted after an alternative campaign Mastered by Luke Hakurei and starring Khelya Inghan as the protagonist.
Since late 2016 the team now consist of Aoboshi, Fitz, Jealousy Mizuhashi, Luke Hakurei and Sakkuyniron.
The events are centered around The Academy of Pyralis, were young magicians are offered a formation of eight years before becoming full wizards.The majority of Characters (and there are a lot of them) we follow are students living their day to day basis in the academy or outside it's bounds. The world of Urania is not a peaceful one, and the characters have to cope with war, terrorism, evil religions, personal troubles and psychological trauma while trying to save themselves or the world. The series itself is divided in arcs from the Ancient Chronology:

It is to note that the events of the Rp were from then on too chaotic or too convoluted (Or maybe the players were just simply lazy) to class them into arcs, but the RP is currently progressing toward the year 6306 thanks to a faster pace and more regularity.
Short stories based in the main continuity or The Alternative can be found, such as the series of short stories named "Fragments" By Jealousy Mizuhashi or the Illegitimate Fragments by Luke Hakurei.
Urania provides example of:
- Absurdly Sharp Blade: Most magic weapons are an example of this trope. See Below. SELIM's Shadows can also counts as this.
- Absurdly Sharp Claws: Forvalaka's Claws are this. It can cut through steel and immortal flesh alike. Contrary to Excalibur, it can't kill immortals, only mutilating them for the rest of their lives
- Animal Motifs: The Antithesis, except Noune, the Gas mask is made to show that she is the most mechanical of them all.
- Anti-Magic: The Aura. It can negate all magic it comes in contact with and IT CAN BE WIELDED. Even Matter based magic such as Water or Earth Magic, and it becomes more powerful with more people using it.
- A Million Is a Statistic: Horrors of war, spells, Ravenous mechanical god and a lot of things get people killed. Invoqued during SELIM's fight against Malimilen.
- Anti-Magical Faction: Urao's Army comes as this. Leading to The Scramblers.
- Apocalypse How: All druids decides that human life is a menace to nature in retribution to the death of Archidruidess Menetile, which kills the great majority of humanity in Urania, leading to the global population barely keeping itself up the hundred cap. Then the Horsemen of the Apocalypse come in with the help of a hatred-filled Khelya, and they sterilize the whole world, leading it to be nothing but an earth of ash and bones. Also why Agraav was so powerful. Thankfully, it is not canon.
- Armor Is Useless: Pretty much so in Narhyam, were beasts are so powerful that the trope is played dead straight.
- Battle Couple: Cyranu of Kamu/Khelya Inghan , Furio and Amelia Stormweather , Tyrande Hakuma/Erik Sirevant
- Bears Are Bad News: Werebears are considered like Meat Tanks and were used in the conquest of Rhuty, a whole nation of Proud Warrior Race Guy, Ichigo of Clubs can attest that a provoked Werebear is a terrifying sight.
- Black-and-Gray Morality: Most antagonists are just so evil they seems to be made from it while most protagonists have done some unsavory things themselves, even if they try to pass for The Paragon.
- Black Magic: Played with. While Black Magic is frowned upon, it is not illegal or as Dark as the traditional iterations. But Spells called Cursed Arts, Erased from history for the most part are like this. They require formidable sacrifice, but their sheer power is capable of modeling nations and history.
- Blessed with Suck: The Transcendance Blood gives you a formidable magic reservoir that was one enough to level an entire continent while making the practice of Cursed Arts nearly innocuous but it: Makes you a social outcast which in result means that you won't spend a happy childhood or do anything constructive with it,it can kill you if badly managed, gives you a lot of destructive mental issues, mutating has a great chance of killing you, you can't realistically give nor receive blood transfusions and worst of all, it gives you a standard eye color.
- Blood Knight: Unsurprisingly numerous given the violent background of Urania, doubles with Dysfunction Junction below.
- Body Horror: How Primal Horrors are made. Everything is implied, but it's easy to guess that the process of fabrication involved a lot of Squick. The fabrication or even the general anatomy of the Nereids are deliberately falling in it.
- Cool Sword : The Roleplay has a number of these things, including:
- Excalibur. THE Excalibur. It is an indestructible sword enchanted by Merlin himself. It can only be wielded by those it deemed worthy and it's power it to truly cut and kill everything. The sacred sword can truly hurt and kill anything it touches, transferring all the damages on the true form of it's foe. Regenerators regresses to normal beings, Avatars are now a weakness and killing only one of them kills the being, and it is implied that even God himself would be cut.
- Dévorâme(Soul eater) A cursed blade owned by Merlin that drinks souls and is quite good at it. It is mostly forgotten now, but it appeared in the Alternative at the end of the Hepthydre arc, solving most of Pride Angst problems by sucking out the malefic souls out of him. Doubles as Hungry Weapon .
- The Corruption: The Abyss, an impersonal force whose sole objective is to devour the universe and corrupt everything in creation. Nothing is safe from it.
- Crapsack World: Magic, Spirits and Technology. Evil empires, wars, terrorism, PTSD, Demons, monsters etc... Life is recently moderately safe in the Academy of Pyralis, but the world truly is a dangerous and corrupt place. Now coming with it's own country : Ckohima !
- Cursed with Awesome: The Gift from the Abyss gives you a pretty heavy curse, a link to The Corruption while giving you formidable yet limited powers.
- Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: Played with. The reason the Sect of the Machine God is evil. With forced assimilation and robotisation, and methodic planning, the aforementioned Machine God destroyed the major part of a Metropolis before being brought down by every forces in the world. Yet, the cybernetic creatures still have minds and souls of their own, capable of being affected by Illusion Magic.
- Darkness Equals Death: With the Abyss, pretty much. Or even everywhere in hostile territory.
- Death World: Primae Neptuna and Higgys, one from the sheer inhospitability of this Eldritch Location and the other because it is pumped with so much heat it can kill a mortal in mere seconds without any protections. On a smaller scale, Kolfour and certain parts of Mirasa can count as this.
- Dropped a Bridge on Him: Subverted, Jukuren could have died of cardiac arrest, which is pretty show-worthy in itself but miraculously survived.
- Dysfunction Junction : Oh Boy. It is very hard to find a character that is truly functional, or only have minor quirks.
- Early-Installment Weirdness : The first arcs contained tons of earth shattering events... ON A WEEKLY BASIS. Elsay's characters were also a lot more relevant.
- Evil Weapon: The Primal Horrors are weapons of mass destruction and made from still body parts and souls maintained alive and experiencing pain. They involved the sacrifice of dozens of people to make them (Even a baby). They generate an aura of evil that would ward off most people from sheer disgust, and only the powerful temptation they generate can convince the maddest or the weak-willed to touch them. Even hearing one's name is a sign of trouble. They double as Living Weapon .
- Fantasy Metals: Ever heard of Sand Copper? It's just like copper, except that you can only forge it once, it's nearly indestructible and absorb perfectly all of magic that enters in contact with it in addition to be one of the rarest minerals on Urania. It's the basis for the first prototype of Scramblers. Rhutile Steel is one too. It's steel made by iron blood, make swords that can cut wood just like butter, and it's somehow a great rune conductor.
- A Form You Are Confortable With: With the Incarnations. One has to wonder how they can revert back to being a powerless mortal and still keep the comfortable appearance deal.
- Human Alien: Justified, Apparently the gods decided it was the apex form of all intelligent species, even making them compatible for reproduction!
- Hungry Weapon :Primal Horrors need to drink blood in order to work.
- Journey to the Center of the Mind: The introspection arc involving Cyranu and Khelya getting to know each other better... by diving into eachothers minds.
- Lawyer-Friendly Cameo: A lot of products and Characters. Subverted with music however.
- Magitek: The Scramblers. It is literally a piece of modern Technology made by the most advanced country of the world in the express order to screw with magic, and by consequence, with wizards.
- Magic A Is Magic A: Magic is really codified and rules were made to prevent someone from abusing one kind of Magic, even if some are left in the dark. Even then, Magic necessitate to know perfectly it's bounds and limitations in order to use it most effectively, making a lot of Mages Overspecialized.
- Magic Is Mental: Played with. Magic is treated like a martial art and a lot of people can develop it without proper study, but studying it and being intelligent is what separate mooks and heroes from real danger. And illusionists too.
- MegaCorp: The Weapon & Tech, which is the richest power in the entire world, and can't care less about ethics or regulations. Goetia Corporation is trying to be this.
- Mind Rape: The effect of the Aura. It can damage a being from the inside and has a power over it's very soul. It has also no known efficient counter.
- The Necrocracy: Mortanzar is a city in Hell whose population is almost entirely composed of dead people. The sovereign is even called Gravelord.
- The Order: Of Mages. A Military organization that contains and control most of the mages of the world with an iron fist. Most of mages seen that aren't in the Order are antagonists or terrorists.
- Our Dragons Are Different: Subverted. There is no dragons in Urania, but it doesn't prevent them from appearing by conjuration magic, Hybrids (Yes, you can have the blood of a dragon) or just travelling into another world.
- Our Vampires Are Different : It provides more than two distinct races of vampire.
- Person of Mass Destruction:
- Aimi was directly responsible of the death of 50 053 people in one single day during the Iomeg arc, and her Aura is currently used by Urao to create new High Tech Scramblers. She also has the capacity of spreading her own kind of corruption.
- Cyranu of Kamu is capable of burning down acres of forest or any combustible material with terrifying ease.
- And if you think that this generation if screwed with an overabundance of power, Tenko no Kosen takes things up to eleven. He erased an ENTIRE LAND MASS FROM THE MAP. IN. ONE. FIGHT.
- The Phoenix: Cyranu of Kamu can transform into one and has most of it's characteristics.
- Plague Doctor : Aleph of all people was designed that way. He can also cure most battle ailments.
- Power at a Price: Quite common. Magic isn't free and has it's own use of stamina, Black Magic and The Darkest Arcanes, if you can't manage the price, causes all kinds of troubles, and we will not talk about The gift from the Abyss, The Affection of The Dream Walkers, The Transcendence Blood, The Arcanes, and the other kinds of Cursed Art or Powered Weapon all want to Bargain. And you will lose.
- Powered Armor: Still in Prototyping, but was proven impervious to Illusion magic and most physical attacks. Really inspired from Iron Man.
- Powered by a Forsaken Child: The Primal Horrors in General are still Alive, conscious and in pain. Even more so with Pleurs de Givre (Frost Cry) Which is a frozen fetus with the tongue and various organs of it's parents. And the three souls.
- Proud Warrior Race Guy: Cecil Frarsdottir will kill you if you don't honor the rules of duel or honorable battle.
- Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: In the Alternative. Played in all of it's horror.
- Reference Overdosed: References are too much to count. From Video Games to Anime, Music and Litterature, you will see references of a lot of things.
- Ruleof Scary: Most of the things supposed to be scary tends to follow it. The Abyss, the Nereids
- Shrinking Violet: Alduin and Alicia are perfect tropes embodiment.
- Sinister Scythe: Khelya's gift from the Abyss gives her one.
- Sociopathic Hero: Ever saw a shark in the pale moonlight?
- Take a Third Option: The deal with the Antithesis and The Iomeg arc went because the characters took a third option.
- Talking Is a Free Action: Played with.
- Time Abyss: Most of the gods true gods or not. Be it Nihil, The Creator, Azrael, Nameless or the Idea of Evil.
- Took a Level in Badass: Ever saw a transcendent-Khelya?
- 20 Minutes into the Future: Most weapons made with advanced science such as the THOR, even if they are ridiculously powerful, are still in the real of possibilities.

- A Wizard Did It: Hilariously Averted.

- Druid: Subverted, here druids have a greater connexion to plant life and nearly none to the animal Kingdom. The Druids have a god of nature: Nordrassil, which is more akin to a god of wildness and plant-life as the Green Tide can attest.

While she is harmed and not in the best physical condition, she is still a fearsome warrior, even if she totally lack the ability to use magic.
- Charles Atlas Superpower : She doesn't have any magical powers. But she can still hold her ground to a lot of mages and win.
- Every Scar Has a Story : Played with, as a lot of them convey meaning, the majority of them are done by her own hands.
- Combat Pragmatist: She doesn't shy on using household object to trap and kill. double with Improbable Weapon User and Improvised Weapon.
- Good Is Not Soft : She is a polite person with a noble goal and aspirations for a better world but... If she's making an offer, it is that she has the upper hand. If she is making a threat, it isn't bluff. She is ready to make her words true, every single one of them.
- Death Seeker : She clearly wants to Die after she has fulfilled her purpose.
- One Last Job : And it is to destroy the Weapon and Tech, and to liberate Kascend, Enlow and Iomeg.
- Psycho Serum : The Gas Mask inject her with a drug that makes her better at fighting at the price of her judgment. She basically becomes The Berserker .
- Xanatos Gambit : Most of her plans count as that. In particular, she wasn't able to gain a single strait victory, but has always managed to advance her plan because she always had some level of success in her plan, a lot of this can be attributed to her ability to do...
- Xanatos Speed Chess : ... Improvise a new issue to her plans. Her preparation is only the beginning of the plan, the action mold it and it's outcomes.
- Treasure Chest Cavity : Crafted several "pouches" for herself if she need to conceal a weapon or an important object. She also hid some objects and now even a weapon inside an injury
- The Speechless : Can't speak since a magic lightning stroke her.

The first active agent of the Antithesis and an aging hunter. He is the master illusionist of the bunch and has mastered the art, and has made the first Book of the Dead giving the idea to the other core members, while giving them as an heritage for a lucky bunch of student, and leaving the knowledge (forbidden or not) to their wisdom and ambitions. He is the only member of the Antithesis that truly hate the Order of Mages for unknown reason. For the moment, is training Cyranu in hope of restoring his confidence and make him use his legacy.- Combat Medic : Primary Medic of the Core members, he can only use some alchemy, and it isn't as effective as true restoration, but he helps whenever needed until Sin can try to patch things up.
- Crippling Overspecialization : Ones you become totally impervious to illusion magic, he only become an old man with overly long knives. In full effect in Hease during the embassy attack.
- Expressive Mask : He IS an Illusionnist after all, and they are all known to have a lot of fake accessories, he just added a little something to make his mask stand-out.
- Had to Be Sharp : He was born and still lives in a city where Everything Is Trying to Kill You at night, and travelled around the world with an elite mercenary group, and even know he lives knowing that his regular job and his terrorist activities will make him risk his life. You might understand why someone who is on the verge of retirement is so deadly.
- Magic Is Mental : Truly believes that an accomplished illusionnist is not someone who will use magic in order to accomplish their goal, but has the capacity and intimidation factor necessary to achieve what they want by using the bare minimum. In order to traumatize Shigumi Wataru, he used this in full effect by proving that he has the potential to use all means of communication in order to hurt her.
- Telepathy : A given of his art, coupled with A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Read , he became jaded quite quickly, but had a long time to hide or process his most cynical thoughts about humanity as a whole.
- Plague Doctor : His attire looks like a Plague-doctor costume, he even has the medicinal herbs in the mask for full effect.
- Warrior Monk : Comes with Badass Preacher. He is a Priest of the local church, and his job is to cut down monsters and monster hunters gone mad.

A lich. The oldest member of the group and א 's wife. She is, after ﻥ , the most important leader of the Antithsesis as the interpret and the messenger. She learned the art of necromancy at a young age and has over time mastered it. For the moment, she hasn't shown her true powers in the face of danger, and only went her way to save ﻥ. ت is a pacifist. Really.- Good Is Not Soft : She is maybe the most tolerant and levelheaded person in the crew, also one of the nicest. It doesn't stop her from using corpses as protection and perverting flesh thanks to necromancy.
- Cruel Mercy : She isn't a fan of unecessary killing, and torturing isn't her cup of tea. She never say she won't do unfixable damages.
- Necromancer: She is one of the most powerful Necromancers of Urania, and is quite old too.
- Relunctant Warrior : If it weren't for Urao, Zale and the W&T, she wouldn't be fighting at all.

His real name is currently unknown, as is his real strength.- Affably Evil : He is not someone who will make anything rash, or harm civilian. Brutality is out of the question and he don't insult, preferring to keep the discussions polite. He still works for the Urao Military.

- Infrared Xray Camera : Averted. He can scan an area with a lot of wavelength possible, from X-ray (nearly useless because it's only a captor) to Near-Microwaves. It allows him to track someone using thermal imagery, but NOT see behind walls. He needs other pieces of tech to achieve this result.
- Organic Technology : Functions can be dispersed between the Organic custom made and the robotic parts. He is a bizarre case of hybrid between Cyberpunk and Bio Punk.
- Super Prototype : Is an experimental unit, like a concept car. He costed so much he isn't meant to be mass produced. His successor will be weaker, and more economically viable, leading to a Conservation of Ninjutsu.
