Darth Wiki / The Blood Lines

Go To

A fictional Fighting Game series project (named BloodLines, but the entry is already taken) created by French troper Keitaro Hirochi, which depicts the story of the Magic BloodLines, who earned their nobility at war ages ago, and their numerous detractors and enemies. In year 1844, unsatisfied with the current situation, the leader of the until-then mythical Ikinaga family opens back the way to their domain, which had been closed for more than five hundred years, and organizes a fighting tournament, in hopes of making the bloodlines' reputation better. While the tournament attracts bloodliners and outsiders alike, it also became the revolving point of everybody's plots.

Tropes that apply to the series:

  • Bittersweet Ending: The first game's arcade modes end up with the player character's victory... and their contemplation at their failed side-objectives or the bad feedback their victory receives.
  • Colour-Coded Timestop: The Ikinaga Bloodliner time powers uses color desaturation.
  • Earn Your Bad Ending: To get the Golden Ending, you have to beat the game up to the True Final Boss without any retry. However, perform too well against said SNK Boss or the previous three stages, and this is what you get, as your character turns into a godlike threat and all other playable characters gang up to kill him/her off and save the world.
  • Grey-and-Gray Morality: Bloodliners and their allies against the others. Whether the darker ones are the bloodliners or their opponents is up to your tastes.

Tasuke Ikinaga

  • Height: 215 cm
  • Weight: 101 kg
  • Age: 17
  • Birthplace: Ikinaga City, Ikinaga Domain
The Hero of the series, or at least the main protagonist on the bloodliners' side. Member of the legendary Ikinaga family, he left his home at 15 without the twin brother he grew up with, event followed by a precipitated first fight and his briefly succumbing to madness, causing him to throw meteors at everything until he got stopped moments later by Shirou Kira. While he was relieved that he had been stopped, he found his pride wounded by a loss to a single man. Determined to get a real fight with Shirou, he spent his time hunting down hints that would lead to him, and the two had another fight that remained unfinished due to Shirou's leaving. Intent on destroying the Triacle (Shirou's organization), Tasuke continued his hunt until his father sent him an invitation to his upcoming tournament. Convinced by the challenge and the possibility of the Triacle showing up, Tasuke joined and departed to his birthplace for the first time in two years.

Shirou Kira

  • Height: 213 cm
  • Weight: 108 kg
  • Age: Late Teens, exact age unknown
  • Birthplace: Unknown
Tasuke's darker rival. Nothing is known about him prior to the day he stopped an enraged Tasuke from destroying everything in his sight. He founded an equally nebulous organization called the Triacle months after the event, to unify and help those he calls the victims of destiny. Personally targeted by Tasuke, he keeps running away from him, even during direct fights. Contacted by the Ikinaga clan's new head Sasuke, Shirou joined the tournament worried about the consequences this act might unfold.

Konona Mana

  • Height: 173 cm
  • Weight: 53 kg
  • Age: 16
  • Birthplace: Aomori, Miyanjou Territory
A co-founder of Shirou's organization, the Triacle. As a teenage girl, she used to be praised by her family for her ability to mimic her opponents' abilities, and pushed as a future bloodliner by her family's leading figures. She wasn't pleased the least by the idea, and turned on them by joining the Bloodlines' biggest enemy: the Chikanoshi group. She didn't stay with them very long though, preferring a life of wandering to the group's guerilla attacks. Wanted by everyone, she followed rumors of a legendary warrior, Shirou Kira, who supposedly beat the generation's Ikinaga Scourge by himself. She found him and stayed behind the cover of the newly-created Triacle for a year. When she hears of the Ikinaga family's new leader opening their domain with a tournament, Konona disappears from the Triacle's sight, in order to see for herself what it amounts to.

Yuuta Meinichi

  • Height: 185 cm
  • Weight: 78 kg
  • Age: 16
  • Birthplace: Shizuoka, Sanaga Territory
The self-proclaimed single worst enemy of the Bloodlines, whom he blames for killing his mother while he was a child, and his little sister when he was a teenager. To that end, he joined the extremist Chikanoshi group, to wipe the world free of the Bloodlines.

Yuuma Meinichi

  • Height: 178 cm
  • Weight: 68 kg
  • Age: 15
  • Birthplace: Shizuoka, Sanaga Territory
Yuuta's younger brother, he's following his footsteps in anti-bloodline action with the Chikanoshi group. While Yuuta is extremely serious about his implication with the group, Yuuma is much more laid-back, easygoing, but also more vicious and vindictive.

Keishin Houjou

  • Height: 191 cm
  • Weight: 132 kg
  • Age: 20
  • Birthplace: Osaka, Houjou Territory
The bastardized would-be heir of the Clan due to his large frame and simplistic thinking. Nevertheless, he is devoted to his clan and defends it against enemies of any kind, most notably the Ryuuzaki family, who despite being their vassals, constantly try to rebel.

Heishin Ryuuzaki

  • Height: 191 cm
  • Weight: 88 kg
  • Age: 20
  • Birthplace: Unknown
The official heir of the Ryuuzaki Bloodline, Heishin was raised as the second to his own little sister Akiha due to his frailer stature compared to most of his fellow clansmen. Decided not to let this set him back, Heishin cultivated his difference and intellect to earn his status back. Looking to set his family free from the erratic Houjou clan, Heishin took upon himself to find an Outori member with whom he could destroy the Seal of Fate that ties both families.

Hiroshi Nagano

  • Height: 199 cm
  • Weight: 88 kg
  • Age: 26
  • Birthplace: Sapporo, Mizuhara Territory
An anti-bloodliner indoctrinated to challenge them at every opportunity, Hiroshi doesn't give the impression of a fighter. And for good reason: while he did take martial arts lessons, he is much more infamous within the Bloodlines for using his good looks and silver tongue for his own benefit, and often at their expense, and his talents made him the single richest man in Japan, his personal fortune outdoing by far that of entire Bloodlines.

Suou Mizuhara

  • Height: 172 cm
  • Weight: 60 kg
  • Age: 15
  • Birthplace: Wakkanai, Mizuhara Territory
The heir to the orderly Mizuhara clan, Suou has unnatural talent in her blood-inherited water manipulation powers. With her status comes its responsibilities, and on her belated return from a trip to Kyoto, she was found in the mountains by a member of the clan's guard who turned out to be her own brother, and impaled through the heart with his water sword. Left for dead, her talent saved her when she regenerated in the water she fell into, and came back home without a word.

Yukata Hibara

  • Height: 171 cm
  • Weight: 60 kg
  • Age: 15
  • Birthplace: Fukuoka, Hibara Territory
A belligerent tomboy from Kyushu's Hibara clan. She hates the treatment of Japanese women, and instead models herself more after boys, most notably her brothers, with whom she constantly spars. Mostly disregarded by her own clan as a result, Yukata spends most of her time wandering or taking on assassinations for the clan, just to put to use her clan's black fire powers.

  • Height: 160 cm
  • Weight: 46 kg
  • Age: 15
  • Birthplace: Nagoya, Sejin Territory
An unexpected entry, Namiha is a presumably normal girl who's been bearing with the local bloodlines with growing displeasure at having to bear with their condescending attitude. Despite remaining mostly pacifistic, she decides to get into fighting in hopes to get noticed and resolve the conflict without resorting to the violence of the Chikanoshi group.

Sasuke Ikinaga

  • Height: 221 cm
  • Weight: 125 kg
  • Age: 36
  • Birthplace: Ikinaga City, Ikinaga Domain
The new head of the Ikinaga Bloodline. As with everything about his family in the last few centuries, little is known about him, except his participation in the defeat of the original Chikanoshi group, when he was in his late twenties. Having made an excellent impression during that battle, Sasuke became more and more influent in the family's decisions, and became the head of the clan at 35. One year later, he takes his first attempt at redeeming the bloodlines in the eyes of the people by organizing a martial arts tournament, with the hope that the show satisfies the crowds.

  • Pet the Dog: He's the only one to show actual respect for Namiha.
  • SNK Boss: To list:
    • He's 221 cm (7 feet 3 inches), and thus out-ranges everybody else with his normals, often by far.
    • His universal projectile attack is invisible and hits full-screen the frame it comes out.
    • His special movement makes use of Time Stands Still to act like a 0-frame teleport.
    • He has a rekka chain as a unique attack, that includes an auto-crossup or an unblockable as the second hit. Both are cancellable into special attacks.

How well does it match the trope?
