The Asteroid Belt roleplay contained examples of:
- Affably Evil: The deuteragonist is very well-mannered, kind to his immediate subordinates, and generally tries to ensure that his aims are accomplished without civilian death if possible. That said, he has killed dozens of his enemies and won't hesitate to manipulate money and people if he believes doing so will further his goals.
- Arch-Enemy: The core conflict for close to thirty years between two characters in the story.
- Artificial Limbs: The titular company specializes in these.
- Badass Crew: The cast of the story fits multiple examples of badassery.
- Benevolent Boss: The deuteragonist to his closest employees, whom he treats like family. He is also generally polite, until you give him a reason not to be.
- Black-and-Gray Morality: The main cast are not necessarily good people, but genuinely care for their own and are averse to unnecessary harm. The antagonist, on the other hand, is pretty much pure evil.
- Cat Folk: The feliken race are this, though they are only a Little Bit Beastly.
- Constructed World: The story takes place in an entirely fictional country that exists in a different world.
- Family of Choice: As the story progresses the characters come to rely on one another more and more and even begin calling each other brothers and sisters.
- Light Is Not Good: The antagonist is very angelic in appearance.
- Villain with Good Publicity: The reason that the antagonist cannot be taken out directly is that she is worshipped as a religious figure.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: Two of the protagonists start off constantly having a go at the other, but deep down they do care about each other. As the story progresses they warm up and become affectionate, even calling each other brother and sister.
