"It's Morphing Time! Legendary Powers!"

The fiftieth instalment of the Power Rangers Redverse written by Mad Red X 12, using the Ranger suit designs from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, and the Milestone Celebration of the series. Our story begins not in the world of the Power Rangers, but rather in ours, where the latest season of Power Rangers is under production. During this gathering, Haim Saban's (entirely fictional) adopted son Jacob takes out four members of the crew for lunch - actress Velvet Harrison, stuntman Ricky Lester, writer Marty Docker and musician/special effect designer Valerie Hudson. While out, a minor earthquake occurs, but the quintet ignore it while they return to the production studio.

As it turns out, they should've been more concerned about the quake, as soon after they return to the studio, another earthquake occurs, this time of a MUCH higher magnitude. As these five work to evacuate everyone still in the building, they eventually find themselves trapped themselves in the building. Just as all seems lost, they're suddenly saved by a otherworldly light. Brought into a room outside of existence, they're introduced to the Genesis Rangers, the legendary sages of the Morphing Grid and

The Legendary Rangers:

Their Allies are:

  • Polly: The Legendary Rangers' psuedo-mentor, a robotic parrot built by the Morphing Masters to watch over and instruct the nascent Ranger team on their mission to find all the Legendary Powers.

And they're up against:

Recurring Power Rangers Redverse Tropes:

  • Crossover: The very premise of the whole series.
  • Finishing Move:
    • Final Strike, activated by inserting a Ranger Key into one of their weapons: the Legendary Sabre's finisher is Super Legendary Slash, and the Legendary Blaster's is Super Legendary Bullet. Using both together is Super Legendary Blast and using their preferred fighting style (Jacob wielding Sword and Gun, Ricky and Valerie Dual Wielding and Marty and Velvet going Guns Akimbo) is Super Legendary Scramble Blast.
    • The Legend Crashes - by leaping into the air with their weapon and shouting "(colour) Ranger Legend Crash!", the Ranger can summon the spirits of the previous Rangers of that colour or the colour most similar to it on the team (for example, Velvet can summon the spirit of the White Wild Force Ranger) for a massive fifty-slash attack. While the other Rangers can only do one for their colour (and the extra Rangers can do it for any Sixth or special Ranger), Marty has access to both a Green Ranger Legend Crash and a Black Ranger Legend Crash (the former done with his Ranger key and the latter without).
    • The Legendary Bazooka is the Zeo Power Cannon reincarnated.
    • Ricky has a unique Finishing Move in the form of the Blue Sabre Super Slash, where he combines all five of the team's Legendary Sabres together, uniting three on one hand and two on the other to form Wolverine Claws loaded with five randomly chosen Blue Ranger keys, which he then uses to perform five energy slashes, unleash the spirits of the Blue Rangers to attack the enemy, and then finish it with a double claw strike.
    • The Legendary Megazord has by default NINE finishing moves - Legendary Starburst (), Legendary Flash (), Legendary Super Slash (), Legendary Revolver (), Legendary Drift (), Legendary Pulse (), Legendary Cannonball (the wheel on the back spins and the hatches on each limb open up, revealing a unlimited line of cannon balls which are then fired out of each limb in rapid succession), Legendary Bat (A Lethal Joke Attack with a giant baseball bat pulled out of nowhere) and Legendary Finale (the Megazord summons the spirits of five previous Megazords chosen by Megazord Keys that perform their own respective finishers before the Legendary Megazord performs a final punch attack).
  • Home Base: The Legendary Galleon, which is also Jacob's Zord.
  • Mid-Season Upgrade:

Tropes specific to Super Legends:

  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Polly is manhandled as much as Navi, but unlike her Sentai counterpart she actually retaliates to the abuse.
    • The Cruel Combat Conglomerate, the Power Rangers equivalent of the Combined Combatant, is MUCH stronger and more effective than in Gokaiger, having many more footsoldiers that form it (among them being the Power Rangers-exclusive Piranhatrons, Quantrons, Stingwingers and Tyrannodrones, as well as other Redverse creations such as the Fogatrons from Outerspace Chase and the Trilobytes from Cyber Corps), and its members communicating more effectively with one another. It took the Rangers using the Legendary Megazord and three of their Legendary Powers to take it down, and that's before it grew!
  • Adapted Out: There's no counterpart to GokaiChristmas, due to Mad Red X 12 finding the transformation stupid and unnecessary. Subverted in Power Rangers Super Legends vs Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, where during the Ranger Key swap scene, Shuki gets to use the GokaiChristmas key while Gai uses the Titanium Ranger key.
  • Ascended Fanboy: Jacob and Shuki.
  • And Now for Someone Completely Different: If you really think about it, the Legendary Rangers are completely different from previous Rangers seen in the franchise:
    • Most prior Red Rangers were The Leader of their team, took charge in times of need, and tended to be either the most mature member of their team or The Heart. Jacob is the polar opposite, being a Manchild Pinball Protagonist who's a complete pushover to the other members of his team and needs to rely on playing on their protective instincts to get them to do what he wants.
    • Most prior Pink Rangers were peacekeeper Nice Girl types (or if not at least a voice of reason amongst the group), as well as holders of untarnishable beauty. Velvet, while not outright ugly, isn't a very attractive woman, with permeant Exhausted Eye Bags and an inflamed red nose caused by her prior drug addiction, and is also the team's resident Jerkass with minimal concern for doing the right thing. While she does improve her appearance and improve as a person, she never reaches the level of previous Pinks.
  • All Your Powers Combined:
    • In addition to the normal Power Rangers teamwork aspect, the Legendary Ranger have access to the powers of all previous Ranger Teams.
    • Most of the Rangers' Finishing Moves, as well as several of their Megazords' abilities.
    • For a villainous example, we have The Legion.
  • Battle Cry: Parodied. The Legendary Ranger's battle cry just has them shout "BATTLE CRYYYYYY!" at the top of their lungs.
  • BBC Quarry / Kirk's Rock: Justified - the rocky range near Millennium City is the perfect place for the Rangers to park the Legendary Galleon and sneak in and out of the city without anyone noticing their ship.
  • Competition Freak: Jacob treats nearly everything like it's a fight against the Warstar - even when the group are just going shopping.
  • Continuity Porn
  • Crossover Villain-in-Chief: During Power Rangers Super Legends vs. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, both teams theorise that one of their Rogues Gallery is in charge of their two multiverses colliding together. The Legendary Rangers think that their current Big Bad Akudos Gill is responsible, while the Gokaigers believe that it's a remnant of their old Zangyack foes or even a revived Los Dark. Subverted in that they're both wrong - the true villains of the movie are the Akibarangers.
  • Darker and Edgier: Compared to Power Ranger Super Megaforce and even Gokaiger, with the Rangers living in a Dysfunction Junction and a heavy emphasis upon the fact that after 49 teams (and more subteams), the "power" isn't temporarily disabled as usual, it's GONE - the Rangers are just scavenging through what remains until they can find a way to get it back on.
  • Enlightenment Superpower: In a sense, this happens in Power Rangers Super Legends vs. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. The Legendary Rangers and Gokaigers spend most of the movie arguing and insulting each other, working on Teeth-Clenched Teamwork (save for Gai and Shuki, who very quickly befriend one another). They do gradually warm up to each other, and when they're finally able to understand each other by the time of the climactic battle with Kanzen Gokai-Oh and the Legendary Megazord against several gigantic monsters that they've previously faced, this finally unlocks them the Greater Power of the Power Rangers (for the Gokaigers) and the Legendary Power of the Super Sentai (for the Legendary Rangers), which allows them to win the battle.
  • Fearless Fool: Jacob.
  • Former Child Star: Velvet was one, starring in countless commercials and even a few movies since she was just two years old, but she unfortunately had a Stage Mom who essentially treated more as a credit card than a daughter, making her perform non-stop like a robot. It got so bad that Velvet got hooked on drugs by the time she was eleven, and eventually ran away from home at thirteen. She signed onto Power Rangers because she needed the money and she wanted to feel like a decent human being again after spending the last twelve years freeloading off a friend.
  • Friendly Fandoms: In-universe during Power Rangers Super Legends vs. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger - this is how Gai and Shuki, two fans of Super Sentai and Power Rangers respectively, become fast friends.
  • Genius Ditz: Jacob. He's naive, childish, easily tricked and generally "in his own little world", but given his Ascended Fanboy nature, he is almost always the first to figure out what the clues left by the Genesis Rangers mean and the first to recognise any information that references a past Ranger team.
  • Language Barrier: In Power Rangers Super Legends vs Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, the two teams initially have some Poor Communication Kills due to the aversion of Aliens Speaking English. The Gokaigers don't speak English, only Japanese, and while they are able to build a translator, it rarely works properly and often misinterprets their words, leading to even more confusion (and hilarity, like a simple comment on Jacob's fashion choices by Marvellous coming out as "I farted" and Jacob's confused response being translated as "I did you one better, I just pooped").
  • Let's You and Him Fight: Again, in Power Rangers Super Legends vs Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, between the four Brainwashed and Crazy core Gokaigers, with Marvellous and Gai having avoided brainwashing, and their Power Rangers counterparts, with Jacob and Shuki stepping aside. Among it, only Luka and Valerie have a proper fight - Doc and Marty have a Wimp Fight, Joe and Ricky constantly stop mid-fight to compliment each other's skills, and Velvet and Ahim keep getting distracted and failing to hit each other.
  • Manchild: Jacob is obsessed with Power Rangers (although you would be too if you learnt they were real), spends nearly all of his free time playing with Power Rangers toys when not training, is rather naive and innocent, has a lot of childlike interests, has Adorkable freakouts over the slightest thing, and even sleeps with a Power Coin-shaped night light.
  • Mysterious Watcher: The Genesis Rangers.
  • Robot Buddy: Polly, in a similar vein to Peebo, Mag, Alpha 5 and the Beastbots.
  • Rogues' Gallery Transplant: Due to the Gokaiger villains having received this in Megaforce, Super Legends has an entirely new cast of villains who all have designs based off of Zords and Megazords from past series.
  • Running Gag:
  • Self-Deprecation: Valerie's first comment upon morphing for the first time and getting over the shock of being a Power Ranger is to ask what the pirate motif is for. Then when they first perform a Legendary Change...
Valerie: Ohhh, NOW I get it! We're PIRATE-ing other Rangers!
  • Sleep Cute: This actually tends to happen a lot in the series.
    • At the end of the first episode, the group scrunch themselves together while out on the streets.
  • Take That!:
  • Tragic Monster:
    • Moltor becomes this in the Operation Overdrive tribute episode - he's been revived by the Warstar in a broken, tortured, zombie-like state, and all of his dialogue consists of him begging for a Mercy Kill.
  • Unexpected Character: In Power Rangers Super Legends vs Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, we finally get to see Battle Fever J in the Redverse, when the Legendary Rangers swap keys with the Gokaigers, with the Legendary Rangers using the Battle Fever J and GokaiChristmas keys while the Gokaigers use the SPD A-Squad and Lightspeed Rescue Titanium Ranger keys.
