Hypecastr is a fan adventure (a fan comic based off of Homestuck and taking inspiration from Vast Error) written and created by a large group of authors, primarily being directed by Galaxymoo.

It follows the lives, adventures, and relationship drama of a large cast of trolls that a game. Development began in January 2020 with the fleshing out of the trolls, which initially started with all of them being based on different internet subculture and pop culture tropes. As of August 2021, there has been no official release, but a large amount of fanart and writing exists. A visual novel set around one of the characters has been planned in addition to animatics.

Its story and characters are known for their use and subversion of different tropes to the benefit or destruction of the characters. The story is also known for a heavy emphasis on relationships and personal growth, with the details of the games played being left murky in favor of a more character-driven focus.

    open to view
  • Absurdly High-Stakes Game: The entire basis of the game involves the destruction of the characters' home planet and the creation of a new one.
  • Affectionate Parody: Much of the basis of the comic is based on affectionate parody. Characters are based on tropes and parody them in a way that often has to do with the author's own affection for that trope.
  • Alien Blood: Since they're trolls, they have a multitude of different blood colors, ranging from bright red to fuschia.
  • Alien Landmass: Each character has a unique planet assigned to them during the games.
  • Aliens Speaking English: The trolls speak English. Some of them speak Spanish as well!
  • All Trolls Are Different: While the trolls are all the same species, differences such as horns, blood color, markings and features like fins and fangs are common.
  • Alternate Self: The dream bubbles contain the dozens of alternative selves for much of the cast.
  • Alternate Universe: The concept of alternate universes is highly relevant and is brought up often, to the point where characters from these universes are met.
  • Alternate Universe Reed Richards Is Awesome: Several of the alternate selves can be considered better than their alpha timeline counterparts.
  • Anachronic Order: The comic isn't fully in chronological order. Flashbacks to times long before the events of the game are common in addition to moments from other timelines.
  • Archetype: Most of the trolls are based off different stereotypes or personas, including examples such as kin tumblr (Kinnie Onmain), reply guys (Floosh Eemogi), or anime protagonists (Shonen Protag). Ultimately turns into a subversion for many, as many of the trolls end up being far more complicated than their personas or stereotypes would suggest.
  • Author Appeal: It seems the authors enjoy characters discovering their identities and learning to love themselves.
  • Author Avatar: Several of the authors are characters in the comic that have an effect on the trolls. Most prominent are Eurydice and Valerie, with both of them working behind the scenes to alter the events of the comic.
  • Back from the Dead: With the concept of godtiering, most of the cast has come back from the dead at least once. Notably, Collat was a ghost for much of the pregame story and was brought back from the dead.
  • Bad Future: The Ultimate Timeline is seen as an inevitable bad future across all universes that don't end before that point.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: So many pairings- Disney/Shonen (Disnen), Laiknd/Tomblr (Bluetube), Chaoys/Yikess (Chayikess), and many more.
  • Big Fancy House: Malibu, and many of the other upper-class trolls, live in these.
  • Call-Back: Callbacks to old jokes and events are to be expected.
  • Came Back Strong: Deeply intertwined with the concept of godtiering, which requires the character to die before they can come back even stronger than before with new powers.
  • Cast of Snowflakes: Given the massively collaborative nature of the project, every character is special and important in their own unique way (with a few exceptions).
  • The Chosen One: While all of the characters can be considered a chosen one due to the supposed inevitability of all of them playing the game, Shonen Protag in particular is designated as a chosen one.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Just like in Homestuck, many of the characters have color motifs associated with their blood color, and dress in clothes that denotate what their position on the hemospectrum is. Of course, some characters deliberately wear clothes different from their blood color in order to hide this (such as Naarci Shkips).
  • Coming of Age Story: It's what happens when the cast is full of young adults with confusing senses of identity.
  • Darkest Hour: During the game, as Shonen attempts to destroy Prospit, Chaoys and Naarci also attempt to start the scratch and wipe the entire session.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: An issue that happens to many of the characters, especially during the game. Not an ideal time to be distracted by that.
  • Doorstopper: The comic is very long, especially considering its timespan and in-depth look at a very large cast.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: On Prospit, characters may be able to see glimpses of the future. Especially prominent for Shonen, which then influences how they act.
  • Dysfunction Junction: Most, if not all, of the characters have tragic backstories, mental illness, deep rooted flaws, or all of the above.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: With the supposed inevitability of the unhappy Ultimate Timeline, it takes multiple timelines for there to be an ending where everyone is happy.
  • Fandom: The concept of fandom is common throughout the comic and characters such as Tomblr and Kinnie interact with it often.
  • Fantasy Character Classes: Much like Homestuck, Hypecastr uses the concept of a class and aspect system.
  • Flanderization: Almost all of the characters undergo a sort of reverse flanderization as they distance themselves from their original tropes. Characters such as Devilz Advkat take flanderization traditionally, to the point where Devilz starts to murder people.
  • Flashback: Used throughout the comic to show events, especially ones before the game.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: Both of the games go horribly wrong as characters change sessions, die, and otherwise complicate the game. It reaches its peak with the destruction of Prospit and near-initiation of the scratch.
  • Greater-Scope Paragon: Valerie's role in the comic as an author insert. While she may seem villainous, she actually acts for the trolls' benefit.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: While characters such as The Antagonist seem to be the big bad, the true ultimate villain is Eurydice, whose meddling with the timelines has caused the trolls to suffer only for the sake of an enjoyable story.
  • Humanoid Aliens: While the characters are trolls with grey skin, strangely colored blood and orange horns, many of their characteristics are human.
  • Killed Off for Real: While a majority of the characters come back from the dead, some such as Eiyvee Leegue and Devilz stay dead.
  • Kiss of Life: A common theme associated with godtiering. It's most prominent when Laiknd is brought back in this manner after being killed.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: The way the authors are characters themselves and the tropes the trolls are built around causes fourth wall breaking often.
  • Love Triangle: Love triangles are a focus of the comic and many of them occur, especially because of the nature of troll romance.
  • Messianic Archetype: Themes of holiness (especially Catholicism) are common throughout the work. Floosh in particular is associated with being a savior, often shown with halo and angel imagery, and at one point getting a scar that resembles a stigmata.
  • Meteor of Doom: With the way the game works, meteors rain down on Popcult and add extra encouragement for the trolls to enter the game.
  • Mind Screw: It’s difficult keeping track of a large cast of characters, multiple timelines, and so much relationship drama.
  • Multicultural Alien Planet: Popcult mimics the culture of Earth. While most of the focus appears to be US-centric, several of the characters show other cultures. (In particular, many of them are Mexican.)
  • Necessary Fail: In order to eventually achieve the Alpha Timeline with its happy ending, many timelines are doomed and made irrelevant to avoid the Ultimate Timeline.
  • Off the Rails: From the beginning, the story is destined to go off the rails. Floosh godtiers too early, Yikess is killed unexpectedly, Shonen blows up a planet, and many other shocking events happen in very quick succession.
  • Online Alias: Like the characters in Homestuck, the characters have usernames online such as 'idyllicCupid' or 'marketableMishap', which are then abbreviated to their initials, like IC or MM.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Characters often drop typing quirk to convey their seriousness or despair in a situation.
  • Pair the Suitors: While Floosh and Shonen both pine for Disney, they end up bonding over their shared affection and grow to have feelings for each other.
  • Pop Culture Symbology: A majority of Popcult is based on consumerism and pop culture concepts, as shown by its name and the trope themed trolls that inhabit it.
  • Power Glows: Shonen and Floosh both glow when strongly using their powers.
  • The Power of Friendship: Without the bonds all of the characters have, they would not have been able to finish the game or last the meteor trip.
  • The Quest: All of the trolls go through quests during the game. Disney prominently has their own quests unrelated from the game, dealing with their own arc and other timelines. This goes as far as it being named Voidquest.
  • Real-Person Fic: Kinnie Onmain writes this about her friends.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Yikess gives one of these to Shonen in the form of calling them out during the game.
  • Second-Person Narration: Much like Homestuck and Vast Error, the comic changes character focus by using “you” to describe them.
  • Ship Sinking: Extremely common throughout the comic, especially with the relationship between Floosh and Tomblr. Shonen/Laiknd, Floosh/Laiknd and Tomblr/Disney are also teased at.
  • Ship Tease: With this much relationship drama being a major focus of the comic, ship teasing isn’t a surprise. The authors often joke about shipping the characters as well.
  • Shy Finger-Twiddling: Something that Floosh does often.
  • Sleep Cute: This seems to happen to Floosh often. At least once before the game she fell asleep resting against Disney, and on the meteor often sleeps with Shonen.
  • Sliding Scale of Free Will vs. Fate: Destiny and the inevitability of some timelines is a struggle for many characters, especially Shonen and Disney. It seems as though they’re bound to the whims of the narration.
  • Speculative Fiction LGBT: Almost every character is LGBT, and LGBT themes such as coming to terms with identity and the struggles of gay love are major in the comic.
  • Spirit Advisor: Sprites, as part of the game, act as spirit advisors. Collat is a spirit advisor to Disney when he continues to stay with them as a ghost, often giving advice.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Originally, it was the human self inserts that were the main focus. The trolls quickly took over and became the subject of the story, with the humans staying in the background.
  • Stable Time Loop: Disney, with their knowledge of how other timelines ended up, tries to keep the current timeline they’re in stable and steer it towards being the Alpha Timeline.
  • Stop Being Stereotypical: Characters are confronted with the tropes they're based around often. Shonen notably is yelled at for their failed attempts at being the hero.
  • Theme Naming: All of the trolls’ names relate to their original tropes. While some, such as Shonen Protag are more obvious, others may require more thinking. Puns and references in addition to made-up words that sound similar are usually used.
  • Timey-Wimey Ball: Multiple timelines exist, with many beginning to exist before the game even starts. Interaction with the ghosts from these timelines happen throughout the comic.
  • Trauma Conga Line: The Game, for so many of the characters.
  • True Companions: The events of the game and meteor bring everyone together much stronger than before, and several friendships and romances are able to heal.
  • Unreliable Canon: Because of the nature of Hypecastr and its many authors and sprawling timelines, the true, actual events of the comic are murky. Events may happen slightly differently depending on whose perspective its from.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Some of the trolls are unwillingly being used by Eurydice and Helen to tell stories. They are unaware of this for the most part, but the number of alternate timelines and complicated issues they go through are because of the excitement of the authors.
  • Verbal Tic: The quirks of the trolls can be translated into how they speak and act. Floosh’s emoticons align with her expressions and emotions, Kinnie pauses often between sentences and phrases, Laiknd EMPHASIZES words, etc.
  • You Can't Fight Fate: When the trolls do try to fight fate, it often ends in doomed timelines.
  • Your Mind Makes It Real: Floosh is able to create things using her Hope powers, including brand new entities such as Shoney.

Trolls

The trolls are a group in Hypecastr that play a game together. All of the trolls know each other before the game, many of them from childhood. They are known for the high amount of interpersonal drama that happens during their game session.

The game that they play is based around a MMO, accounting for the greater number of trolls in the session and its focus on growth rather than killing to win.

They all have a symbol, associated trope, and typing quirk.

    Floosh Eemogi

Floosh Eemogi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alienoidnovace_03.png
Floosh Eemogi is a tealblooded troll with teal markings on her face that resemble cartoon depictions of blushing. She is a transgender girl who uses she/her pronouns. Her aspect is the Heir of Hope. Floosh goes by the trolltag idyllicCupid [IC] and types in a bright teal. She speaks with proper syntax, ending her sentences with an appropriate emoji, by default using the flushed one. Her persona and concept was derived from the phenomena of reply guys. She shares a horn design with Yikess, but the two are unrelated.
  • Accidental Pervert: Occurs often when she lives with Shonen. Floosh beats herself up for this internally a lot and adds it to her (in her mind) justified reasons to punish herself.
  • Action Survivor: Despite the terrors of the game and its exceptionally high difficulty level, Floosh makes it out of there without too many major injuries. (Ignoring she was impaled.)
  • Affectionate Nickname: She’s called Flooshy by Shoney often, and Disney nicknames her angel.
  • All the Other Reindeer: Unlike the majority of tealbloods, Floosh isn’t good at academics, especially ones relating to law. She’s ostracized from them as a result and has few friends.
  • Armoured Closet Gay: Applies to her gender as well. Floosh tries very hard to ignore or outright refuse the signs that Shonen has feelings for her, as it involves confronting her gender and sexuality when she isn’t ready to.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: When she and Laiknd start to hang out after she breaks up with Tomblr, the two show a better understanding of each other. (Though they still don’t call each other friends.)
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Floosh’s loyalty to Cringe and Partee is because of how they were nice to her when she first met them.
  • Breakout Character: Originally intended to die in an event similar to Homestuck’s murderstuck, Floosh quickly became a major focus of the comic and can be described as the main character. This coincided with the decision for her to be trans.
  • Break the Cutie: When she breaks up with Shonen, Floosh is at her breaking point and can no longer handle the years of built up stress and depression over the events of the game, her identity, her love for Shonen, and the hatred she has for herself.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: She’s been in love with Shonen for years, but when confronted with it by anyone, denies her feelings and says she only feels platonic feelings for them.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Her childhood relationship with Yikess.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Floosh, despite not being meant for the traditional hero role, often throws herself into reckless situations out of a strong sense of loyalty.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Floosh is protective of the relationships she has and gets easily jealous, though she feels bad for this (somewhat controlling) behavior and works to fix it. This is especially shown when she gets upset when Shonen kisses Laiknd.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: Floosh is shocked when other people have feelings for her, especially when it comes to Shonen and Collat.
  • Compliment Backfire: Happens often pregame with Disney, where she tries to compliment them only for them to reject her.
  • The Confidant: Shonen tells her many things that they don’t talk about with anyone else. It’s moirail-exclusive information.
  • Conscience Makes You Go Back: Floosh doesn’t need to go save Disney. She definitely doesn’t need to help stop Shonen’s page meltdown. But in the end she feels bad and returns to save the day.
  • Cowardly Lion: She’s never thought of herself as brave. Floosh throws herself into many scary situations and her bravery shows then, even if she doesn’t realize it.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She’s quick to point out the ridiculous in situations and roll her eyes.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype:
    • Floosh is primed to be The Hero despite never wanting to be in this position. She is not an Ideal Hero, she’s obnoxious, vulnerable, anxious, and while optimistic is also subjected easily to depression. In the early story she may be seen more as an antagonist based on the way other characters treat her, and her less than heroic attitude. Really, she’s much more of a Loser Protagonist.
    • She is a transgender woman, a lesbian, and Mexican, none of which are typical for the White Male Lead role that was expected of her. Floosh’s happiness is directly tied to her failing at being the generic male protagonist like the narration intended for her.
  • Despair Event Horizon: When Floosh breaks up with Shonen and goes into isolation, she comes very close to seriously harming herself in her self hatred and depression. Floosh’s sense of self has been broken, she cuts herself off from her relationships, and she truly has no idea what she’s supposed to do now except sit alone in the dark and wait for her to get what she deserves. The brain ghost, Shoney, is a key part of what keeps her from crossing the despair event horizon.
  • Desperately Craves Affection: Her pregame behavior with the reply guy attitude stems from this. Floosh had a lonely young childhood with few friends, and longs for some sort of deep romantic connection. She longs for a One True Love and is depressed by the thought she may never have one.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Floosh has no idea what she wants to do. She failed at a law career, the specialty for tealbloods, and has little drive to find another job. It’s difficult for her to decide what she wants to do when truthfully all she wants to do is settle down with the people she loves.
  • Devoted to You: She’s fiercely loyal to the people she cares about, to the point where she could get hurt because of them. Floosh puts herself in danger as a show of devotion. She even waits years for Disney to return, having faith that they’ll come back.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: When Shonen tries to tell Floosh they’ve been in love with her since before trickster mode, Floosh takes it the wrong way and it makes her reaction even worse. They both miss the point during this time.
  • Endearingly Dorky: While Floosh tries to come off as a cool, confident, put-together guy, she’s really more of a dork.
  • Eternal Love: Floosh is very devoted to the people she loves and has been pining for them for ages. She never stopped loving Disney when they ghosted her or during Voidquest, and she silently pined for Shonen for over 2 years.
  • Everyone Can See It: With Shonen, though Shonen isn’t aware of this.
  • Fatal Flaw: Her most consistent fatal flaw is her stubbornness. Even when she knows she’s wrong, Floosh tends to dig her heels in and stick to her original stance. She is stubborn to a literal fault even though it hurts her.
  • Fat and Skinny: The fat one with Collat.
  • Friendless Background: Until she meets Cringe and Partee when she’s around 13 years old, Floosh has no friends at all. Most of her social life revolves around Cringe and Partee, and later Yikess when she meets her as well. This lasts until she’s 20 with the beginning of the events surrounding her relationship with Tomblr.
  • Guilty Pleasure: Floosh really enjoys romcoms, including the terrible ones, even though she acts pretentious about the things she likes.
  • Has a Type: Floosh seems to take a liking to red trolls, trolls with sunglasses, and tall blue trolls.
  • Hearing Voices: Due to the brain ghosts that periodically make their appearance, Floosh hears voices others can’t often.
  • The Heart: Floosh tries her best to keep everyone together. She’s hopeful and optimistic and tries to see the best in people’s intentions. (As long as her stubbornness doesn’t get in the way.)
  • Iconic Outfit: Floosh’s signature white and bright teal hoodie is easy to recognize.
  • Ignorance Is Bliss: Floosh is kept in the dark about some details regarding Disney during Voidquest, as they would hurt her feelings otherwise.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Floosh doesn’t want to be the hero. She thinks she’s a failure as the Heir of Hope, and wonders why she can’t handle her own powers. On a much deeper level Floosh is ashamed of her gender while still in the closet, and desperately wishes she could be normal and no longer feels the things she does.
  • Important Haircut: Her hair grows out on the meteor as a show of personal growth.
  • In Love with Love: Floosh can easily be described as lovecore. She loves to love and be in love as long as it isn’t depressing her.
  • Insecure Love Interest: She feels lesser to the people she loves and like she will never be enough for them, thinking they deserve better. Especially relevant with Shonen, who Floosh thinks doesn’t deserve “just some guy.”
  • It's All My Fault: Floosh blames herself for Shonen’s sexuality and moirailship issues constantly.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Floosh puts Shonen’s happiness above her own often, thinking this is the right thing to do.
  • I Will Wait for You: Floosh, in her loyalty and faith, waits for years for Disney’s return. While she could try to search for them, she continues to believe Disney will come back when they are ready, and maybe her feelings for them are mutual.
  • Loser Protagonist: She is called a loser and treats herself as one often.
  • Lovable Nerd: Truly she really is a dork. It’s what makes her endearing to many of her friends.
  • Nervous Wreck: After the events of the game, Floosh is overprotective and overthinks everything. She anxiously worries about potentially making people uncomfortable, and dreads the idea that someone could get hurt because of her.
  • Nice Guy: While some of it initially comes from her reply guy basis, Floosh is a kindhearted person at heart.
  • No Indoor Voice: She’s known to be loud accidentally.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Her blush-shaped markings are unusual for trolls.
  • No-Respect Guy: Prior to the game, Floosh isn’t taken seriously and is constantly rejected by other trolls.
  • Oblivious to Love: Shonen, Collat, and Disney all clearly have feelings for Floosh which she is oblivious to or denies noticing in one way or another.
  • Pitbull Dates Puppy: Compared to Disney, the residential mysterious, cold, brooding, potentially villainous character, Floosh is a total softie.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: Pregame, Floosh comes on too strong and hits on women when they don’t want her to. She’s said some slurs, and has generally not been up to the moral standards of a hero. (Or even her own friends, as seen by Yikess.) As time goes on though she gets more conscious of these things, and regrets her past behavior and works to be better.
  • Power Glows: When Floosh is strongly using her Hope powers, such as the creation and maintaining of her hope bubble, Floosh glows. This can also happen when she’s extremely happy.
  • Psychological Projection: When Floosh freaks out over the idea of somehow “ruining” Shonen’s lesbian identity, it is a projection of her own insecurities as a closeted trans lesbian. It doesn’t matter to Shonen much, but for Floosh it’s a huge deal and something that causes her a lot of distress.
  • Punny Name: Floosh Eemogi is meant to sound similar to flushed emoji, a nod towards her typing quirk.
  • Reality Warper: Through her Hope powers, Floosh is capable of bending reality to her will if she tried hard enough. At her peak she uses it to create her hope bubble and in turn dozens of brain ghosts, all of which are sentient. At one point Shoney, a brain ghost originally based on Shonen, is able to become their own entity because of her powers.
  • The Resenter: Floosh is stubborn and resentful, and grows bitter of Shonen when their obliviousness to her feelings starts to hurt her.
  • Ridiculously Average Guy: Compared to her peers, Floosh is to put it bluntly… normal. She doesn’t have any pregame trauma, tragic parental deaths, or other events to give her that much distress until the game. Of course, it’s later shown that she isn’t as normal as the others thought.
  • Self-Care Epiphany: It turns out that what Floosh needs is the ability to extend the kindness she has for others towards herself.
  • Shipper on Deck: She wants Shonen and Disney to get together despite her own insecurities, wanting the both of them to be happy. Reluctantly, she also hopes Laiknd and Tomblr get together.
  • Surprisingly Sudden Death: Floosh godtiers too early during the game, very suddenly getting impaled and being able to manifest her questbed close enough for her to reach before dying.
  • Tender Tears: She has cried from happiness on several occasions.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Over time, Floosh becomes much more genuinely nice to people and no longer does it just for her own benefit. She learns it’s okay to show this niceness to others and not worry about being weird for it.
  • Tsundere: Before the game she acts coldly towards Shonen and tries to ignore their attempts to be her friend. She plays up the tsundere trope as well while initially faking her relationship with Tomblr.
  • Undying Loyalty: Floosh would get herself killed if it meant saving someone she cares about.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Blinded by her self hatred, Floosh loses her confidence. She over analyzes her bad traits to the point she forgets or rejects her good ones. She may say she’s a horrible person, but those closest to her know she isn’t and try their best to tell her the truth.

    Disney Mcdnld

Disney Mcdnld

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/disney_3.png
@daytimedyking
Disney Mcdnld is a mutant red troll who uses they/them pronouns. Their aspect is the Seer of Void. They go by the trolltag marketableMishap [MM] and type in bright red, capitalizing M and D and censoring swears with a *. Their persona and concept is based off of mega corporations such as Disney and Mcdonalds, giving them their capitalism theming. They are the main protagonist of Voidquest.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: For much of the comic Disney seems antagonistic in nature. They wear dark sunglasses, are heavily associated with their Void aspect, and spend a lot of time in the shadows. It turns out much of this is caused by good intentions and a strong sense of responsibility to protect everyone, even if they may not use the right means all the time.
  • Misunderstood Loner with a Heart of Gold: Disney seems cold and closed off from everyone, but at heart is much kinder than they seem and is very protective. This may be caused by feeling as though they must make up for what happened to Collat.
  • Tall, Dark, and Snarky: They're tall, they wear dark sunglasses and have a darker persona than most of the other trolls, and they're known for their nicknames and sarcasm.

    Shonen Protag

Shonen Protag

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shonen_2_1.png
Shonen Protag is a mutant red troll. They are agender and use they/them pronouns. Their aspect is the Page of Blood. Their trolltag is archetypalAstrum and they type in bright red with all caps. Shonen was, as the name implies, based on the tropes and concepts associated with the protagonists of shonen anime.

    Collat Terral

Collat Terral

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/collat_terral_ghost_godtier_trickster_references.png
@daytimedyking
Collat Terral is an indigoblooded troll who was formerly a ghost. He uses he/him pronouns. His aspect is the Rogue of Light. His trolltag is graphicalTrends [GT] and he types with bright blue, adding up or down arrows to indicate his tone and capitalizing the letter T. Collat was based on the concept of being the collateral damage to Disney's rise to success.
  • Force and Finesse: The finesse to Disney's force.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Collat doesn't curse. He may use "freak" or "frick" on occasion, but this is rare. The exception is "cunt", which he will use.
  • Spirit Advisor: He acts as an advisor to Disney while he's a ghost.

    Tomblr Hotman

Tomblr Hotman

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/alienoidnovace_03_6.png
Tomblr Hotman is a ceruleanblooded troll with a mutated third eye and white hair. He is a transfeminime nonbinary gay man who uses she/her and he/him interchangeably. Her aspect is the Bard of Mind. His trolltag is sexyCatastrophe [SC] and she types in a light navy, beginning her posts with t | and occasionally using #hashtags. Tomblr's persona and concept was based on the types of men Tumblr enjoys the most, notably The Once-ler.
  • 0% Approval Rating: On the meteor shortly before and after Floosh breaks up with him, Tomblr is hated and ignored by just about everyone, including his closest friends. He for a time is The Friend Nobody Likes.
  • Ambiguous Disorder: Tomblr heavily depends on cues from others on how to interact with them and act in different situations, behaves erratically, and hyperfocuses on her projects. It’s heavily implied she is autistic, has ADHD and HPD, and that his pregame trauma also influences his behavior.
  • Arbitrarily Large Bank Account: Tomblr is rich. While we don’t know how rich, it’s enough for him to throw huge parties and live in a very fancy house and never run into financial issues.
  • Ascended Fanboy: Young Tomblr just enjoyed doing Cosplay and enjoying the things she created. When it becomes a career, it at first seems like a dream come true.
  • At Least I Admit It: Played with when he confronts Disney. Both of them use this against the other.
  • The Atoner: Tomblr learns just how much she’s been hurting herself and everyone around him. He spends a very long time making up for it by not only working on himself, but apologizing through actions to the people he’s hurt.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Laiknd befriended him when they were both very young, and Tomblr never stopped admiring him. While they didn’t speak to each other for years, Tomblr still loved him and never stopped thinking positively of him.
  • Beneath the Mask: Much of Tomblr’s personality and appearance are just the things that he thinks will make others (especially his fandom) like him. She acts like an extroverted, flirtatious, and mysterious guy who loves drama, but really he’s much more introverted and has trouble with actually understanding romance.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Happens during the game. Laiknd is about to fly off into danger which likely could get him killed, and in a desperate attempt to stop him, Tomblr grabs his arm and pulls him into a dramatic kiss as meteors fall behind them. This is accompanied by a Please, Don't Leave Me moment.
  • Broken Ace: See her alcoholism and it being heavily implied she’s a victim of assault. Most of Tomblr’s persona is all a sham.
  • Butt-Monkey: Tomblr is often demeaned throughout the comic and subjected to harm for the comedy of it all.
  • Captain Oblivious: Partially subverted. Tomblr plays up the act of being oblivious as a defense mechanism and a way to try to avoid conflict. If you play dumb, at least you won’t get hurt.
  • Character Development: Happens throughout the comic as Tomblr slowly recovers from the damage pregame caused him.
    • Most prevalent with how Tomblr stops using his friends, mainly Shonen, as a Living Emotional Crutch. She learns to be able to rely on herself, and at the same time starts to care for others and be someone they can lean on for support.
    • His Commitment Issues are also dealt with, where Tomblr stops hiding behind his fake persona and can be vulnerable with the people he loves and no longer worry about losing them.
  • Character Exaggeration: Her pregame persona is based on being an exaggeration of the traits Tumblr users love from certain male characters, especially when it comes to being tall, pretty, and flirty.
  • Chick Magnet: Self explanatory. Tomblr is adored by thousands of fans before the game.
  • The Corruptible: Without Laiknd being a positive influence as a teenager, Tomblr was easily persuaded by his fans into things he wasn’t comfortable with that later lead to his issues as an adult.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Seen with her irrational hatred towards Disney, Eiyvee, Comick, and Yeehaw when they have relationships with Laiknd. Oddly enough, she doesn’t feel like this towards Shonen and Floosh.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: It’s heavily implied that Tomblr’s substance abuse, default assumptions of romantic interest when others try to get close to her, and his pregame behavior with fans, are due to Tomblr being groomed as a teenager on the internet and may of had unfortunate experiences with his fans.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype:
  • Disappeared Dad: While not exactly an Abusive Parent, Platypapa’s absence has a profound effect on Tomblr and can be considered the beginning of her validation issues. There is an Unpleasant Parent Reveal when Tomblr discovers his dead body after coming home.
  • Dumb Blonde: He has white hair, easily translated to being blonde. While not exactly dumb, Tomblr can be oblivious to his surroundings and the feelings of others.
  • Emotionally Tongue-Tied: With so much of his personality ending up being a charade, Tomblr struggles with figuring out his true emotions, and struggles even more with expressing them.
  • Even the Guys Want Him: When Floosh is still in the closet, his relationship with her falls under this trope.
  • Extra Eyes: Tomblr has a Third Eye that is covered up by his hat or hair most often, as on Popcult it could be a reason to send her to the culloseum or be exiled. When Disney shows him the memories of the doomed timelines, he is covered in eyes and briefly becomes Nightmare Fuel as Eyes Do Not Belong There. They fade as she processes her trauma, but leave behind markings.
  • Famed In-Story: Tomblr has a massive fandom with a huge internet presence. She’s able to live very comfortably with the money she makes from the fandom in addition to advertising.
  • Foil: To Disney. They both have massive control issues on different ends of a spectrum, with Disney wanting to be in control of everyone, and Tomblr giving up his autonomy because it’s easier.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: While Tomblr has had a hard life, it never excuses the way she’s treated her friends and partners. It’s part of his character development to learn this and start improving himself rather than wallowing in excuses.
  • Friendless Background: Was isolated as a child and had no contact with other trolls until he was able to get a laptop.
  • Friendly Enemy: To Disney. The two seem to act friendly with each other, but they actually have years of built up resentment and hatred. Culminates when Tomblr confronts Disney shortly before the game and can no longer act friendly.
  • Gentleman Snarker: She acts very gentlemanly but very often can act snarky while still using the gentleman persona. Happens the most often when he’s with Disney around other people.
  • Has a Type: Suspiciously seems to have a thing for short, loud, often red trolls with long hair.
  • Incompatible Orientation: Shown with Shonen and Floosh. They are lesbians and she is a gay man, making things incompatible even if Shonen is agender.
  • It's All About Me: Tomblr struggles when he isn’t the center of attention and doesn’t know how to act when she isn’t in the spotlight.
  • LGBT Awakening: First occurs when Laiknd is his First Love and First Kiss, though she represses these feelings for several more years.
  • Lonely at the Top: Tomblr is outrageously popular, loved by millions, and so rich she never has to worry about providing for herself. But without any real friends or meaningful relationships, he’s depressed and lonely.
  • Love at First Sight: His immediate reaction when he met Laiknd in person for the first time, although he doesn’t realize this.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Her entire concept is based around being the type of man that Tumblr users find attractive. Tomblr himself tries hard pregame to appeal to his fandom by doing fanservice for them.
  • Murder by Inaction: Panicking while imps drown Loyahl, Tomblr doesn’t make any attempts to save them and watches as they die. (Not to mention that the imps attacking was also her fault.)
  • Mystical White Hair: While her white hair doesn’t bat too many eyes on Popcult, it may be connected to his mutation.
  • Noodle People: The second type. Tomblr is very very tall and slim, but otherwise looks normal until she’s standing next to someone else and her height is obvious.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: She relates a lot to Kinnie, and Malibu, as the three of them all have similar experiences with assault, fame, and being a kid on the internet. All three of them try to appeal to others even when it doesn’t fit who they really are.
  • Obliviously Evil: Just because he DIDN’T cheat on Floosh a second time doesn’t mean it was fine.
  • Self-Made Man: Partially subverted. Tomblr climbed to the top on his own for the most part, but she’d never would have been able to do it if it weren’t for her friendship with Laiknd as kids.
  • So Beautiful, It's a Curse: Most apparent with his fandom and the way they treat him.
  • Stepford Smiler: Tomblr acts aloof, sexy, and constantly positive and mysterious to hide his own insecurities and depression.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Subjected to this and becomes one himself. Tomblr continues to hurt those closest to him through his own oblivousness.
  • Trauma Conga Line: When Disney subjects Tomblr to the memories of doomed timelines, Tomblr is forced to relive and acknowledge his trauma.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Laiknd.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Child: Young Tomblr was sweet, kind, and truly genuine with everything she did. When his fandom grew out of control, Tomblr stopped being genuine with how she acted.
  • Was It Really Worth It?: Shonen confronts Tomblr and asks if all the pain he’s caused was actually worth the cost of hurting himself and others.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Tomblr very suddenly cut off Laiknd when they were teenagers after they kissed. Eventually they reconnect as adults, but it takes a long time for them to acknowledge the hurt that happened.

Yikess Cancel
Yikess Cancel is a ceruleanblooded troll who uses she/they pronouns. Her aspect is the Thief of Rage. They go by the trolltag calloutCulture [CC]. She types with a light blue, capitalizing the letter T and censoring some words. Their persona and concept was based on the types of people who tend to write callouts, in particular those who use Twitter.

    Kinnie Onmain

Kinnie Onmain

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kinnie_transparent_7.png
Kinnie Onmain is a violetblooded troll who fakes being a blueblood, with fluffy, afrotextured white hair and a buckteeth smile. She is a transgender girl and uses she/her, and her aspect is the Maid of Heart. Her trolltag is piningSacrament [PS] and she types in light blue. Her persona and concept was derived from the Internet 'kinning' subculture.
  • Abusive Parents: Kinnie's lusus, Pigeonmom, instilled a lot of self-hatred and transphobia into her.
  • all lowercase letters: Part of Kinnie's typing quirk.
  • Alternate Self: Kinnie undergoes a special Heart ritual in which she makes contact with other versions of herself throughout the various timelines out there. It's done so that she can understand herself better and as a religious experience for her god (which is her own aspect).
  • Ambiguous Disorder: It's not quite ambiguous, really. Kinnie is autistic, has depression and anxiety, and complex post-traumatic stress disorder. Her dependence on other people and tendency to be clingy suggest that she might have Dependent Personality Disorder, and she also tends to dissociate a lot.
  • Animal Motif: Birds (pigeons and owls, specifically) are often associated with her.
  • Animesque: She's deliberately based off Ookami Kitsune from the fanime Sugoi Quest For Kokoro, so her design and some of her behaviors are taken from that.
  • Apologizes a Lot: A learned behavior from her relationship with Preyda. She gets more confident and apologizes less after coming to terms with her trauma.
  • Astral Projection: What she's doing during her Heart ritual.
  • Badass Adorable: While Kinnie is loathe to be violent under most circumstances, she's also very strong, able to carry Yikess up a mountain to resurrect them, and is more than competent with her weapons of choice.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason she's so in love with Yikess and Chaoys is because they were the first people to actually love and care about her sincerely.
  • Berserk Button: When someone hurts her friends.
  • Break the Cutie: And oh boy does she get broken. Before the Game, this happens with her relationship with Preyda. During the Game her planet's quest revolves around forcing her to confront traumatic memories. Her friend group has a falling out, many of her friends die, and she then finds the love of her life bleeding out and has to carry her up a mountain to her quest bed, before stabbing them in order to put them out of their suffering so they can be resurrecting. Then she's forced to confront years of repressed memories and kill herself to godtier, and then she has to fight her childhood friend to stop them from committing a mass murder-suicide. If Yikess weren't there for her on the meteor, she would have lost it.
  • Broken Pedestal: The way she feels about Chaoys, following the attempt to start the Scratch.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Her crush on Chaoys.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: She has been in love with Chaoys and Yikess since they were kids, but she and Yikess don't get together till they're on the meteor. It takes her and Chaoys even longer.
  • Childhood Friends: With Yikess, Chaoys, Floosh, Malibu, and Shonen. Though for Floosh, this is for a given value of 'friends'.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Kinnie is made easily jealous, and often reacts by trying to tag along and insert herself into exclusive and intimate conversations or activities. There's a reason her pre-game dynamic with Yikess and Shonen is Me, You, and Steve.
  • Commonality Connection: She develops quite a few. She has one with Floosh based on the fact that they're both transgender women, wanting to make things easier for Floosh the way they weren't for her; she has one with Malibu based off presenting a happy face to the world despite suffering inwardly; and she has one with Tomblr based off sexual abuse and personas developed due to the Internet.
  • The Confidant: Yikess tells her many things that they don’t talk about with anyone else. It’s soulmate-exclusive information.
  • Consistent Clothing Style: She likes soft, light clothes, and wears pastels.
  • Dandere: Her with Yikess and Chaoys. She becomes less of this over time.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Kinnie entered into an abusive and predatory relationship with an older troll, Preyda Toriey. Preyda was in her 20s, and Kinnie was 15. The relationship lasted several years, was very abusive, and affected Kinnie for years.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype:
    • Of the I Just Want to Be Loved, Love Martyr, and Loving a Shadow tropes. A desperation for other's approval and love leads people into believing that so long as they are cared for, they can accept any poor treatment- and once that relationship is over, it is easy to excuse what happened and pretend it was one's fault, or that it wasn't that bad.
    • Of the Innocently Insensitive trope as well. Though Kinnie doesn't mean to hurt anyone by doing what she does in regards to her hemofaking, it's still an extremely insensitive thing to do, and her ignorance and naiveté about hemocaste politics in general is what helps drive her and Chaoys apart on the meteor.
  • Desperately Craves Affection: Part of the reason she stayed with Preyda for so long, and entered the relationship in the first place.
  • Determinator: She CARRIED YIKESS, who's BLEEDING OUT, UP A MOUNTAIN, managed to complete a hugely stressful quest, and then managed to stop Chaoys and Naarci. All within the space of a few days! And she manages to get it all done. Once Kinnie starts something, she doesn't stop.
  • Devoted to You: Her with Yikess (in a good way) and Preyda (in a bad way).
  • Dumb Blonde: She, like Tomblr, has white hair and can be a bit unaware of cues and social graces, meaning she can come off as a bit of a ditz.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Kinnie goes through a lot, but she gets a happy ending. At the end of her journey, she's living with her wives and her kind-of-sort-of-girlfriend, completely content. She doesn't ever completely forget or have her trauma erased, and it affects her for the rest of her life, but she is able to finally be free.
  • Eternal Love: Kinnie has been in love with Yikess since they met. She didn't fall in love with Chaoys until later in their friendship, but it's still been almost a decade since she caught feelings.
  • Everyone Can See It: The romantic tension between her and Yikess and Chaoys is visible from space. Pretty much everyone except her can tell that Chaoys is completely gone for her and vice versa.
  • Expy: She deliberately mimics Ookami Kitsune-chan from the fanime Sugoi Quest for Kokoro.
  • Extreme Doormat: Preyda helped make her into this.
  • Fat and Skinny: The skinny one with Chaoys.
  • Friendless Background: Kinnie never had tons of friends. Chaoys was her first friend, and she later became good friends with Yikess (and Malibu and Shonen by association) but she is more acquaintances than anything with many of the trolls. This gets better on the meteor, but it is still a problem.
  • Girl in the Tower: Pigeonmom wants her to be this.
  • Good Is Not Dumb: Kinnie can be naive- very naive- but she's not stupid. Especially following her godtiering, she begins to understand that the world is more complicated than it appears.
  • Good Is Not Soft: While Kinnie wants to be both, she also begins to recognize following her godtiering and heart ritual that sometimes, you can't be soft if you want to be good.
  • Grew a Spine: On the meteor, following her godtiering.
  • Hairpin Lockpick: When she and Chaoys were just kids, the two of them would often sneakily break into places together. Since Chaoys kept their hair short, Kinnie brought hairpins for lockpicks.
  • Heal the Cutie: Her relationship with Yikess.
  • The Heart: She tries her very best to cheer everyone up, and it is difficult to be mean to Kinnie or shoot her down. She acts as a mediator a lot of the time.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Being Maid of Heart, she has a kind of charmspeak, and is able to see the ghosts of alternate selves and the ways they died, which is a huge strategic boost.
  • Hidden Depths: She might seem like a shy, gentle girl, but Kinnie has a lot of suppressed rage, and she can be quite bitchy to others- though she would never say anything to their face, or even admit she's mad to them or herself.
  • I Can't Believe a Guy Like You Would Notice Me: Her about Yikess.
  • I Hate Past Me: As she begins to cope with her repressed trauma, this comes up a lot, as she victim-blames herself for staying with Preyda so long. Yikess helps her realize that it wasn't her fault.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: One of her ultimate motivations.
  • Improbable Weapon User: She uses katanas, which are pretty simple... oh, and ribbons, of all things.
  • In Love with Love: She's a Heart player, and a hopeless romantic who pines easily. As a result, she loves love, and loves being in love.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes
  • Innocently Insensitive: A little more than insensitive, but Kinnie's hemofaking is belittling to actual trolls who are lower on the hemospectrum than she is. Granted, she thinks it's necessary because of the mix-up surrounding her lusus, who was intended for bluebloods and got violetblooded charges by accident, but her choice to use it for kinning purposes is especially insensitive.
  • Insecure Love Interest: She has a very hard time believing that Chaoys or Yikess are actually interested in her.
  • It Was with You All Along: Kinnie goes to confront her denizen with a bunch of puzzle pieces of her memories. Her denizen tells her that actually, her memories are within her- she just has to be brave enough to unlock them.
  • Lovable Nerd: When she feels comfortable with people, she can often go on tangents or excitedly infodump about her favorite things, often stimming in excitement. It's an absolutely adorable and heart-warming sight.
  • Love-Interest Traitor: Chaoys is Kinnie's love interest. They also betray her by working for the Antagonist and trying to start the Scratch, though they have good intentions.
  • Love Martyr: Her role in her relationship with Preyda.
  • Loving a Shadow: Despite the way Preyda treats her, she stays and believes that Preyda is actually good.
  • Mystical White Hair
  • Nervous Wreck: Preyda made her into this. Especially during their relationship, she is constantly on edge and worrying that she's done something wrong, or has hurt someone.
  • Nice Girl: Mostly. Kinnie desperately wants to be nice, and has internalized the idea that if she isn't nice she's terrible. This leads to her repressing all her negative emotions- but she does slip up and do or say mean things.
  • Not Afraid of You Anymore: When she finally faces off against Preyda in the final battle.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Her and Floosh. While originally Kinnie dislikes Floosh, she comes to realize that she and Floosh are very similar on the meteor, and takes her under her wing to try and be a trans mentor.
  • No Social Skills: Kinnie is autistic, and as a child, often has difficulty understanding social cues. As a result, now she often agonizes over if she's responding the 'right' way. This brings problems in itself.
  • Oblivious to Love: While she has had crushes on Chaoys and Yikess almost from the very beginning of their friendships, she's absolutely blind to the fact that Chaoys loves her back, and doesn't notice when Yikess develops feelings for her as well.
  • Odd Friendship: Kinnie and Chaoys are separated by class, hemotype, and they're very different in personality. Yet despite that, they've been best friends since they were little.
  • Opposites Attract: Kinnie is a soft, kind girl who tries to make sure everyone's happy and balks at the thought of hurting people. Chaoys is an adrenaline junkie anarcho communist who regularly competes in televised fights (sometimes to the death). They're completely in love.
  • Parental Neglect: Pigeonmom never actually hurts Kinnie physically. She just threatens to withhold Kinnie's estrogen and medication!
  • Power Glows: Using Kinnie's heart powers makes her glow a soft pink, and for those with powers of perception, they can see ghostly wings, eyes, and hands surrounding her.
  • Punny Name: Kinnie Onmain.
  • Quaking with Fear: She shakes a lot when she's nervous, excited, afraid, or having a panic attack or trauma flashback.
  • Real-Person Fic: Kinnie writes friendfiction about her friends, largely in order to deal with her feelings and as a way to cope. Much of her friendfiction centers around her crushes on her two best friends, Yikess Cancel and Chaoys Causeer. She also has a 'kin list' for many of her friends, assigning them characters from media as she sees fit- often based on their romantic relationships or behaviors.
  • Sanctuary of Solitude: When she and Preyda had breakups, Kinnie often went to churches and prayed to comfort herself. Unfortunately, this was more harmful than helpful.
  • Self-Care Epiphany: Following her godtiering, she realizes the way she's been treating herself in relation to her trauma (namely, denying that it ever happened) is unhealthy and needs to get better.
  • Shipper on Deck: With Chaoys and Yikess. It later becomes clear that this is because Kinnie is in love with both of them, and thinks that if she can't be with them, they should at least have each other.
  • Shrinking Violet: She is often very shy, especially around people she doesn't know.
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: Her and Yikess are insanely affectionate around each other, even before they start dating.
  • Smitten Teenage Girl: When she's in love, she's a blushy, lovestruck mess. She has Mrs. Kinnie Cancel written in all her notebooks.
  • Son of a Whore: Whorny, Kinnie's ancestor slash parent, is a porn star, which makes things very weird for her.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Kinnie is six feet tall- not including her horns.
  • Symbolic Wings: Like all players who reach the rank of god tier, Kinnie grows wings after her god-tier death. However, unlike most trolls (who receive insectoid, butterfly type wings), Kinnie's wings look more like a hummingbird's.
  • Tender Tears: She cries a lot, especially when she's happy. Yikess keeps a reserved box of tissues for her.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: The Girly-Girl to Chaoys' Tomboy.
  • True Blue Femininity: One of her signature colors is light blue.
  • Wanted a Gender-Conforming Child: Pigeonmom is... less than happy, to say the least, about the fact that Kinnie is trans.
  • Warts and All: Kinnie knows Yikess isn't perfect. She's well aware that Yikess has messed up, that she can do bad things, that she hurts people on accident sometimes. Kinnie knows all this. But she doesn't care- she loves Yikess, even with all her flaws.
  • We Used to Be Friends: When Chaoys starts the scratch, and Kinnie has to stop them, they stop talking to each other, both of them too hurt about what happened.

    Chaoys Causer

Chaoys Causer

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kinchaoys_comm_for_alary_5.png
welcome to the team comrade
Chaoys Causer is a rustblood troll with short black hair and pierced horns (as well as a multitude of other piercings). They are nonbinary and use they, she, he, rat, and 🔥 pronouns. Their aspect is the Bard of Void and they use the screenname commieArsonist [CA]. They do not use puncuation or capitalize letters when typing. They are based on arson.

  • Abusive Parents: His lusus, Ocedad, is frequently physically abusive. In addition, rats distant father figure, the Arsonist, is neglectful and disbaraging towards her, often belittling them whenever he chooses to actually talk to them.
  • The Ace: Chaoys works as a Madiactor, which means they fight (occasionally to the death) for entertainment. Chaoys has almost never been defeated, is incredibly skilled at what they do, and eventually quit not because it was getting too hard but rather because it wasn't exciting anymore, and they needed a new challenge.
  • Affectionate Nickname: She calls Yikess 'princess', and Kinnie 'angel' 'bunny' or 'sunshine'.
  • Alliterative Name Chaoys Causer.
  • Ambiguous Disorder: Chaoys's fixations, need to constantly be active and doing something, and the quick switches between deep depressions and extreme mania and impulsive behavior, suggest that they might have bipolar disorder and undiagnosed ADHD. Their tendency to 'split' on Yikess and Kinnie, headstrong behavior, black and white thinking, and tendency to self-harm, also suggest that they have Borderline Personality Disorder.
  • Animal Motif: Rats, cats, and foxes. Pretty much any kind of feline or rodent is associated with Chaoys in some capacity.
  • Apocalyptic Log: Following the beginning of the Game, Chaoys begins to keep a record of their adventures, using both a tape recorder and old fashioned pen and paper interchangeably. Subverted in that Chaoys doesn't talk about the Game itself much, but rather uses it as a form of therapy.
  • Appropriated Appellation: Chaoys first started calling the group of her, Laiknd, Shonen, and Owouch 'gutter gang' because someone else called them gutterbloods.
  • Badass Boast: They frequently brag about their madiacting accomplishments.
  • Ballet: Though she never focuses much on it, both she and her best friend Laiknd attended ballet classes as children in the communal hive/apartment building that they lived in. Chaoys had a natural talent for it, but often slacked off.
  • Berserk Button: When people hurt the ones she loves, are needlessly cruel, or when they attempt to defend capitalism. Marisu ticks all three.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Her about Laiknd. She tried to give Eiyvee the shovel talk at one point, only for Laiknd to stop her in embarrassment.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Her and Yikess have one of these during the Game, after Chaoys has godtiered. Chaoys kisses Yikess in front of a huge crowd of screaming frogs, and then is so flustered and angry with herself for having broken rats vow to stay away from others for their safety that she flees, leaving Yikess standing there staring after rat with a marker mustache.
  • Blade Enthusiast: They have a collection at home, and like to find cute little knives to carry around. It's not their preferred method of combat, however.
  • Blood Knight: 🔥 loooooves to fight. It's one of their favorite things to do, and the adrenaline allows them to distract themself from the emptiness inside them.
  • Body Horror: What happens to them in many of the alternate timelines that Kinnie sees. Some of them are quite gruesome, including one timeline where her body is half ash that is constantly reforming and dissolving due to her Bard of Void powers.
  • Butch Lesbian: Though it takes her a while to realize it.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Chaoys does this with her father/ancestor The Arsonist during the Game before killing him, lighting him on fire and leaving him to die. The death doesn't take, however.
  • Cats Are Mean: Commits petty crimes constantly, and is quite rebellious.
  • Childhood Friends: With Laiknd, Owouch, Shonen, Kinnie, and Yikess.
  • The Cynic: Especially as Chaoys gets older, they become more cynical about whether anything they're doing to create a better world will ever work, and laugh looking back on their own naiveté from when they were younger and teaching Yikess about Marx.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Chaoys can have a sharp tongue when they feel like it, although they're typically well-meaning about the remarks they make.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype:
    • Of the Blood Knight trope. Chaoys loves fighting and getting into scrapes with others, but not because it's fun- it's because she's so desperate to hide the fact that she feels empty and lonely inside, and that she thinks she's worthless and can't bear the emptiness.
  • Drugs Are Good: Played with. Chaoys does weed fairly regularly, right up until after their self-immolation. After that, the smoke triggers flashbacks to their self-immolation and suicide, and gives them panic attacks. They do end up using edibles instead in the end, so it loops its way back around.
  • Dude, She's A Lesbian: Laiknd says this to Devilz when Devilz tries to sleazily hit on Chaoys in passing.
  • Easily Forgiven: Yikess does this to Chaoys on the meteor, after they attempted to set off the Circuit. It completely takes them aback, because they don't feel that they deserve this forgiveness.
  • Eternal Love: Chaoys has been in love with Kinnie and Yikess ever since they were all children- so, over a decade.
  • Everyone Can See It: The romantic tension between her and Yikess and Kinnie is visible from space. Pretty much everyone can tell that all three of them are completely gone for each other.
  • Famed In-Story: In story, he's a famous madiactor, one of the most proficient in his league.
  • Family of Choice: They consider Laiknd, Owouch, Slothdad, and Shonen to be their family.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: They grew up in poverty with Laiknd and Owouch (and Shonen, later). Their experiences in their neighborhood together led the group of them to become best friends. Also with Naarci during the Game, as the two of them worked together underneath the Antagonist.
  • Freudian Couch: She and Laiknd do this to each other quite a bit on the meteor when they're going through things.
  • Freudian Excuse: One of the reasons Chaoys is so self-destructive is because they believe that they're worthless due to ideas instilled in them by their mother.
  • Hairpin Lockpick: When they and Kinnie were just kids, the two of them would often sneakily break into places together. Since Chaoys kept their hair short, Kinnie brought hairpins for lockpicks. After Kinnie stopped tagging along due to Preyda, Chaoys stopped using hairpin lockpicks.
  • Hate at First Sight: Hate in terms of the Homestuck romance system. Upon laying eyes on Yikess, they pretty much immediately developed a pitch crush on them, one that never went away.
  • Hellbent For Leather: They LOVE leather jackets, and wear a beaten up black leather jacket pretty much everywhere on Popcult.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: They hate themself, to the degree that they think they're worthless and are frequently suicidal. Their friends tell them otherwise, but they can't easily accept it.
  • His Own Worst Enemy: In the end, the person who can hurt Chaoys the most is Chaoys themself. No one else causes them as much pain and grief, no one else has caused them as much bodily harm, and it takes a lot to get them to finally take care of themself.
  • Hot-Blooded: They're bright, loud, and easily angered, and often they leap before they look.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: Played with. Chaoys frequently jokes about how good they are at things, and they are masking a deep self-hatred and view themself as worthless, but they also joke about being worthless as well.
  • It Runs in the Family: Played with. Both the Arsonist and Chaoys are pyromaniacs and anarchists, but Chaoys is a communist who wants to create a better world for everyone, and the Arsonist is a capitalist who just wants to see the world burn and chafes at authority. Chaoys looks up to the Arsonist, but is often conflicted about him considering their diverging priorities and attitudes.
  • Kick Them While They're Down: Chaoys normally is willing to stop a fight whenever the opponent is down, but they have no problems doing this to Preyda.
  • The Lad-ette: She's nonbinary, so it doesn't quite apply, but Chaoys has always been very very tomboyish and considered 'one of the guys'.
  • Man on Fire: Chaoys god-tiered via self-immolation.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: The Masculine Girl to Laiknd's Feminine Boy, though of course Chaoys isn't quite a girl.
  • Messy Hair: Their hair is a constant mess, and they frequently either enlist Laiknd's help in cutting it or do it themself.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Their attitude on the meteor, and part of the reason they isolate themself during that time period and accept Kinnie's complete blackout radio silence towards them.
  • Nature vs. Nurture: Chaoys struggles with this a lot- they know a lot of their problems, and the problems of their friends, are caused by the environment they live in. On the other hand, they think that the problem with them is innate, and blame themself for the reason that they are how they are. They eventually come out on the side of Nurture in the worst possible way when they try to short the Circuit.
  • Noodle Incident: They met Kinnie in an incident that involved a Dashcon-esque convention, fleeing from the police, and a stack of stolen Warrior Cats books. No one but them know the details.
They're completely in love (though neither believes the other returns their feelings).
  • Pint-Size Powerhouse: They're only 5'3", but they pack a serious wallop, and have taken down opponents twice their size on occasion.
  • Playing with Fire: They have pyrokinesis.
  • Post-Rape Taunt: Preyda delivers one of these about her abuse of Kinnie to Chaoys. Chaoys is so furious that they attack and kill Preyda, although it doesn't end up sticking.
  • Precious Photo: They have one of gutter gang, that they keep in their pocket. They've also got one of Kinnie, that they can't bear to look at on the meteor.
  • Pyromaniac: Their specibus is lighterkind, though they also use knives. They love to start fires, and will stop everything to light one if someone asks.
  • Reality Warper: Void powers means that they're able to make things that don't exist real, and essentially unmake various things in the world- including, if Chaoys has enough power, rules of nature.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The hyperactive Red Oni to Laiknd's laidback, snarky Blue Oni.
  • The Resenter: Their relationship with Kinnie during the Scratch attempt and meteor arc. Chaoys feels frustrated that Kinnie has never understood their issues with class and race, and feels betrayed that Kinnie would try to stop her from starting the Scratch to create a better world where capitalism doesn't exist. They do go back and forth on this point- they think that they're a terrible person for having tried, but still feel resentful of Kinnie for stopping them.
  • Resentful Guardian: Ocedad is deeply bitter about raising children, and often takes this out on them.
  • Social Services Does Not Exist: More like they just don't care. Ocedad's abuse of Chaoys is quite well-known, but because they're a lowblood, no one cares or attempts to intervene. Their apartment complex (a communal hive) attempts to help, but because they have no power, there's really nothing anyone can do.
  • Sticky Fingers: She shoplifts regularly.
  • Stout Strength: They're short and chubby, with broad shoulders, but they're also a powerhouse who can take down almost anyone and loves to fight.
  • Talking Down the Suicidal: Many people have done this for Chaoys over the years- Yikess and Laiknd on the meteor, Kinnie and Laiknd before the Game. Chaoys has done this for others as well- once for Kinnie prior to the Game, and a few times for Laiknd over the course of their friendship.
  • The Tease: They love to tease and get under Yikess' skin, often doing this by being incredibly flirtatious. It normally flusters Yikess so much they have a Windows shutdown error.
  • Trauma Conga Line: During the Game, Chaoys begins working for the Antagonist. They sever all ties with Kinnie, and as they grow more isolated, eventually attempt suicide by self-immolation. It doesn't work, and they come back as a god-tier. The amount of violence they see and partake in working under the Antagonist, and their increasing depression, leads them to eventually try to start the Scratch to start over, a form of mass murder-suicide. They don't succeed, and proceed to spend the next two and a half years in a deep depression, with only Yikess, Shonen, and Laiknd for company.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Laiknd.
  • Wanted a Gender-Conforming Child: Ocedad is not a big fan of the fact that Chaoys is butch and nonbinary, and it's a point of contention between them.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: The way that most people (with the exception of Laiknd, Shonen, and Yikess, as well as Naarci because Naarci was a co-conspirator) react to their attempt to start the Scratch.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: They did try to start the Scratch, but only because they believe that it's the only way to create a new world where all of them can be happy and don't have to suffer anymore- eliminating capitalism, hemocasteism, and the trauma they went through.

    Malibu Barbie

Malibu Barbie

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image0_54.png
@fruityroxas
Malibu Barbie is a mutant fuschiablood troll. They’re nonbinary and use they/them pronouns. Their aspect is Sylph of Breath and they use the screenname plasticRoyal [PR]. They do not capitalize any letter except the letter B and use the emojis 💕✨ as a prefix and ✨💕 as a suffix fo their sentences. They are based on the stereotype of rich, fashionable, and ditzy characters.
  • Ambiguous Disorder: Malibu’s penchant for emotional self sabotage and acting like an attention whore and drama queen bring to mind the idea that they might have some sort of personality disorder.
  • Animesque: Their god tier transformation is reminiscent of the magical girl genre, especially Sailor Moon.
  • Ax-Crazy: Despite appearances, Malibu seems to have a sadistic and violent side during fights.
  • Barbie Doll Anatomy: Literally. Prior to the game Malibu’s ancestor forces them to get multiple plastic surgeries in order to seem more doll-like.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: Malibu’s relationship with Yikess. Even when they’re on good terms, the two still often tease each other.
  • Beneath the Mask: Malibu puts on an air of optimistic, cheerful, and perfect but it’s a carefully constructed persona to hide their depression, anxiety, inferiority complex, and anger issues.
  • Better as Friends: Their breakup with Baspro is this, verbatim.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: While Malibu is usually caring, compassionate, and friendly, on the meteor they act rude, angry, violent, and snarky.
  • Big Fancy House: Their hive back on Popcult.
  • Bishie Sparkles: Is it due to cosmetics or their personality, nobody knows.
  • Break the Cutie: They deal with an overbearing ancestor, a neglectful and distant lusus, a lonely childhood, the destruction of their planet, getting broken up with by both their matesprit and kismesis within the span of an hour, relationship with Devilz, and getting their ass handed to them in battle.
  • Broken Ace: Malibu must be good at everything they do, lest their self esteem issues take the better of them.
  • Commonality Connection: Malibu’s close friendship with Tomblr. Their friendship with Kinnie too, to a lesser degree.
  • The Cynic: Malibu pretends not to be an optimist stop their friends from worrying about them, but they are actually extremely cynical in reality.
  • Destructive Romance: Their entire relationship with Devilz.
  • Ditzy Genius
  • Desperately Craves Affection
  • Dumb Blonde: Initially played straight, later subverted.
  • The Fashionista: Malibu only wears designer clothes.
  • Genki Guy: Malibu definitely falls into this category, at least initially.
  • Hidden Depths: Despite coming off as self absorbed, airheaded, and a bit of a bimbo, in reality they’re extremely self sacrificing, almost to the point of recklessness, because of how much they care about others and how little they care about themself.
  • Hypocrite: They get frustrated with Kinnie for not being true to herself, meanwhile Malibu has a difficult time being themselves.
  • Idle Rich: Extremely so. Malibu can hardly take care of themselves.
  • Important Haircut: After coming out as nonbinary and undergoing character development, Malibu cuts off their hair.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: If there were any one trope to describe Malibu, it’d be this one.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Malibu seems to be this at times, later revealed that it’s not usually as unintentional as they’d like everyone to believe.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Fashionable: Malibu attempts to buy Yikess new clothes and jewelry.
  • Jerkass Realization: Happens after Malibu realizes how mean they’ve been towards everyone on the meteor.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Malibu had no friends growing up.
  • Manic Pixie Dream Guy: Malibu is this for Yikess.
  • Mood-Swinger
  • Nice Mean And In Between: The in between to Yikess’ mean and Kinnie’s nice. Although Yikess and Malibu switch places during their time on the meteor.
  • Opposites Attract: With Yikess and Thesis.
  • Parental Substitute: To Fantum after Eiyvee dies.
  • Princely Young Man: Played fairly straight after Malibu comes out as trans.
  • Ship Tease: Malibu and Tomblr seem to have some kind of romantic tension that they never act on. They do play it up for the tabloids and internet on Popcult.
  • Temporarily a Villain: Malibu unsuccessfully attempts to kill Yikess, acts like a jerk to everyone, and sides with the actual villians for some time before having a change of heart.
  • Valley Girl
  • We Used to Be Friends: Malibu and Yikess were close friends before they started hating each other.

    Baspro Shoppe

Baspro Shoppe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image0_1_08.png
@fruityroxas
Baspro Shoppe is a jadeblooded troll. His classpect is Mage of Light and his trolltag is goneFishin [GF]. He is based on both stoic detectives and redneck culture.
  • Ambiguous Disorder: Baspro shares many traits with people on the autism spectrum, such as not understanding sarcasm, stimming, social awkwardness, and hyperfixations.
  • Ambiguously Bi: While Baspro has never actually dated another man it seems fairly obvious that he is attracted to men.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He’s very protective over Rebbel and lets him get away with basically anything, even if it’s illegal.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Baspro is an extremely talented detective! Too bad he’s rather spend his time fishing than solving cases.
  • Creepy Good: He has the best intentions, but his social awkwardness make him come off like a little bit of a creep on occasion.
  • Dating Catwoman: His relationship with Madnes.
  • Expy: Baspro shares a lot of similarities with Will Graham from Hannibal.
  • Grumpy Old Man: While Baspro’s not technically an old man he is several years older than most of the characters in his friend group and significantly grumpier than most of them too.
  • Hates Being Touched: Zig-zagged. His relationship with Malibu never escalated beyond hand holding and he is definitely not a hugger, but his relationship with Madnes is a little more touchy feely.
  • Likes Older Women: Ends up with a woman twice his age.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Baspro is completely fine with manipulating and using people to get what he wants, though he uses this for (what he thinks is) good rather than evil.
  • No Social Skills
  • Only Sane Man: Of the characters he interacts with he’s definitely the most level headed.
  • Private Detective: Despite belonging to the jade caste which isn’t usually associated with the law or crime solving he runs a fairly successful business as a private investigator.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue oni to both Madnes and Rebbel’s red oni.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Multiple times towards Madnes.
  • When He Smiles: It’s a rare occurrence but according to Malibu he has a nice smile.

@fruityroxas
Fantum Oppera is a bronzeblooded troll. Their classpect is ‘‘‘Heir of Heart‘‘‘ and his trolltag is ‘‘‘nascentMelody [NM]‘‘‘.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Fantum is this towards Eiyvee, even though they are not biologically related.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Fantum is only eleven years old before the game starts and is the youngest troll in Hypecastr.
  • Bad Liar: Fantum is awful at lying, which often gets him into trouble.
  • Big Brother Worship: In Fantum’s eyes Eiyvee can do no wrong, and they want to be just like him when they grow up.
  • Break the Cutie: Fantum sees their best friend die right in front of them, causing them to undergo a personality swap. Later becomes Heal the Cutie after exiting the game.
  • Cheerful Child
  • Children Are Innocent: He doesn’t seem to understand the dangers of the world, even once he’s trapped inside a battle royale style game.
  • The Cutie
  • Emo Teen: Preteen example of this towards the end of the game and afterwards.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: He is depicted with dark undereye circles after Eiyvee’s death.
  • Free-Range Children: He was allowed to go wherever he wanted with no supervision back on Popcult, leading him to meet and befriend Eiyvee.
  • Idiot Hair: They have a prominent cowlick.
  • Keet: Before and for the majority of the game Fantum is this.
  • Kid Hero: Subverted. He tries to be this and fails.
  • Nice Guy: Of the characters in their session, they’re easily one of the friendliest.
  • Odd Friendship: Their friendship with Eiyvee.
  • Parental Substitute: Initially Eiyvee, later Malibu and Yikess after Eiyvee dies
  • Perky Goth: After the game ends and Fantum recovers his optimism.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red oni to Eiyvee’s blue oni.

Villains

The villains of Hypecastr, belonging in their own category to make them distinct. They all have a symbol, associated trope, and typing quirk. Unlike the rest of the cast, most of the villains permanently die.

    Preyda Toriey

Preyda Toriey

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/preyda.png
Preyda, made in gaywerewolfcowboy's picrew
Preyda Toriey is a purpleblood gladiactor with tons of wealth and a moderate amount of fame, living comfortably by herself. She enjoys wine, sunsets, and long walks on the beach, and she's also a manipulative predator who preys on teenagers and gets them into relationships with her. One of those victims is Kinnie Onmain.

Warning: this entry discusses sexual abuse, pedophilia, and intimate partner violence. You have been warned.

  • Destructive Romance: Her relationship with Kinnie. The abuse ranges from verbal, emotional, physical, and sexual, and Preyda does it very deliberately.
  • Empathy Doll Shot: Kinnie frequently brings her stuffed bear, Georgie, around with her. Even when she's with Preyda.
  • Forceful Kiss: She enjoys doing this with Kinnie, and with making her feel uncomfortable.
  • Gaslighting: Preyda is an expert at this, to the point that when they break up for the final time, Kinnie is fully convinced that the relationship was completely fine, and desperately wants Preyda back.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Preyda is very, very good at twisting the facts around and making it look like Kinnie is in the wrong, or that she's overreacting.
  • Marital Rape License: She makes the excuse that since she and Kinnie are dating, their sexual encounters cannot be rape by default.
  • May–December Romance: Kinnie is around fourteen when she first meets Preyda, and fifteen when they start dating. Preya, on the other hand, is a fully grown adult. She says that she's twenty, but it's implied she's lying, and that she's actually around thirty years old. Once Kinnie is eighteen, she breaks up with her for good, so it's likely her attraction to Kinnie is because of her age, not in spite of it.
  • Post-Rape Taunt: Chaoys gets this from Preyda when they meet during the Game, and it utterly enrages her, and causes her to attack and kill Preyda (though it doesn't stick).
  • Sadist: Preyda enjoys hurting Kinnie, though when Kinnie questions this, Preyda adamantly denies it.
  • Serial Rapist: Kinnie was not the last. She probably wasn't the first, either.
  • Why Did You Make Me Hit You?: One of Preyda's favorite things to say when she's physically abusive towards Kinnie.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Would get off on it, even.

Humans

The Author Avatars of the creators of Hypecastr are reoccuring characters to an extent. It is unknown whether they created the universe the trolls live in or what happened during their own game session, but many of them now involve themselves in the narration of the trolls' story. Most do not make formal appearances.

They all have a symbol and at least one troll associated with them in a similar manner to the patrons in Homestuck.

    Eurydice

Eurydice

    Valerie

Valerie

    Helen

Helen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/helen_sprites_8.png
Helen in his goditer clothing.
Helen is the Author Avatar of Galaxymoo. He is a girl who uses he/him pronouns. He is the Page of Light and goes by the pesterchum handle astronomicalEpoch [AE] while typing with bright pink. Helen often acts behind the scenes, but it appears that he had a larger influence than Eurydice when it came to originally putting the spotlight on the trolls. His symbol pre-godtier was a pink cow. His associated troll is Floosh Eemogi, and to a lesser extent Tomblr Hotman.
  • The Man Behind the Man: While Eurydice is considered the true main antagonist who works behind the scenes, further behind the scenes there is Helen. It was him who originally shifted the focus to the trolls through his influence as a Page of Light, and he had just as much of a decision as Eurydice did when it came to the creation of new timelines and narratives for the trolls.

    Alary

Alary

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/god_tier_alary.png
Alary in their godtier outfit
Alary is the Author Avatar of lonelyghosts. He is a nonbinary agender lesbian who uses they, fae, or he pronouns. He is a Rogue of Light and goes by the pesterchum handle ghostlyLuminescence [GL] and types in a pink color. Alary feels strange about controlling others, preferring not to meddle nearly as much as Helen or Eurydice, and feels like a parent to their associated trolls. Faer symbol is a deer, and his associated trolls are Kinnie Onmain and to a lesser extent Chaoys Causer.
  • Butch Lesbian: Alary is a butch lesbian.
  • Heal the Cutie: One of their favorite tropes, and a reason that they often protest Helen and Eurydice's actions despite being friends with them, since Helen and Eurydice tend to make characters suffer.
  • Infodump: Alary tends to talk a lot when they can.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Fae sometimes mentions that they used to be very similar to Kinnie.
