William Louis Petersen (born February 21, 1953 in Evanston, Illinois) is an American actor and producer.
He is most famous for playing forensic entomologist Dr. Gilbert Arthur "Gil" Grissom in the Las Vegas-based series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation from 2000 to 2009. He made a few reappearances in the CSI-verse as Grissom in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2021.
He's also had roles in films such as Manhunter.
