Ulrich Matthes (born 9 May 1959 in West Berlin) is a German actor and voice actor.
Outside Germany, he is perhaps best known for having played Joseph Goebbels in the 2004 film Downfall, about the last days of Adolf Hitler and Nazism. He has won numerous stage and screen acting awards in the German-speaking world.
He's also an audiobook narrator and dubbing voice, having regularly dubbed the roles of Kenneth Branagh (sharing duty with Martin Umbach), and a few others less frequently such as Malcolm McDowell, Charlie Sheen, Ralph Fiennes and Sean Penn.
He came out as gay in 2021.
