Real life, big drama

True Real, sibling network to Defy TV, is a digital broadcast subchannel in the United States owned by Katz Broadcasting. After acquiring Ion Television, Katz decided to refocus their efforts into the growing cord-cutter market. Thus, this and its brother network were designed to be appealing to the coveted 25-54 demographic.

Unlike its sibling, True Real, originally called "Doozy," is aimed at women, featuring reality and lifestyle programming largely from A&E Networks, with most of their programming created after the year 2000, unlike a lot of other digital subchannels. In a rather quick set-in of network format slippage, in May 2022, the network began offering movies (mainly those originally acquired as part of Scripps’ content deals for its other subchannel networks as well as some that are part of the A&E Networks agreement) during the daytime and evening hours on Saturdays and Sundays.

In 2023, Scripps shuttered True Real and moving its programs to Defy.
