The Coalition is a Vancouver-based subsidiary of Xbox Game Studios, charged with developing the Gears of War series following the IP's acquisition from Epic Games, essentially making them the Gears equivalent to 343 Industries.
Founded in 2010 as Zipline Studios, the company went through a number of retools (having been known as Black Tusk Studios for a time) before finally branding itself under the current name, derived from the games' Coalition of Ordered Governments.
Beyond their work on Gears of War, they are also known for their work on the Unreal Engine, and have been responsible for creating several tech demos for the engine.
