Stefan "Datto" Jonke is known for his YouTube channel Datto (Formerly DattoDoesDestiny) where he specializes in guides, tutorials, and other informative content regarding the video games Destiny and Destiny 2. He also streams on a semi-regular basis on his Twitch channel. He also previously worked as an Associate Producer for Hollywood Game Night, as well as numerous other jobs in the television industry before becoming a content creator. He currently has over 700,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, and 250,000 followers on his Twitch channel.

As of Nov 2023, Datto created a secondary YouTube channel where he posts more varied content, in the hopes of establishing a fanbase outside of the Destiny community (though he still uploads videos to his main channel).

  • The Ace: Regularly shows a large amount of skill playing Destiny, specifically in PvE content. He's no slouch in PvP either. Recently, he also displayed impressive ability at DanceDanceRevolution and Rock Band on both Vocals and Drums.
  • The Big Guy: He mainly plays a Defender Titan, making him the Stone Wall and Barrier Warrior variety.
  • Black Comedy: On his Quiplash video and streams.
  • Buffy Speak: Crops up from time to time on livestreams. According to him, this is why he writes scripts for his scheduled content.
  • Can't Hold His Liquor: A real life example.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: When you're as good as Datto, full attention to the task at hand is rarely required. Exemplified during this video.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: Invoked. He is a vocal opponent of using exploits and cheap tactics to succeed in video games.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Zigzagged. While he is quick to point out effective tactics and character builds, he also frequently makes a game out imposing difficult and humourous restrictions on himself and his teammates, especially for raids.
  • Constructive Criticism: While he loves Destiny and Destiny 2, he is also not afraid to point out flaws for the purpose of making the game better. Given his position in the community, he also works as a good mouthpiece to the developers as well.
  • Crazy Enough to Work: Most of his raid challenges fall into this category.
  • Crossover: He regularly collaborates in streams and recorded videos with his wife traveldanielle and their mutual friend Th 3 Jez.
  • Deadpan Snarker: One of the snarkiest members of his clan, Math Class.
  • Friendly Sniper: Skilled with sniper rifles but still very personable.
  • Game Master: Is the one to set the rules for raid challenges and change them as needed.
  • Genre Savvy: Has a lot of experience in Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games and First-Person Shooters. This comes in handy for higher level Destiny content, which is a fusion of both genres.
  • Good with Numbers: A few of his guide videos feature some number crunching.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Played for Laughs.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With LeopardStealth. Probably.
  • The Leader: Of the Mastermind variety.
  • Leg Focus: A male example. He likes to wear shorts and put his feet up in his gaming chair, leading to some leg shots. Apparently this is because it gets hot in his apartment. This has since become a joke among his fans.
  • Mentor Archetype: His YouTube channel is primarily dedicated towards teaching people how to improve their play. He also will personally "sherpa" inexperienced players through the more difficult content from time to time. Bungie's Community Manager, DeeJ, even called him "The Professor" in an interview.
  • Never Live It Down: His video discussing his dislike for using exploits caused a number of Destiny players to label him as an elitist.
  • One-Man Army: Due to his high skill, he can be seen this way. Exaggerated when he soloed Crota's End, a raid meant for a team of six.
  • The Power of Rock: During his livestreams.
  • Proud to Be a Geek: He does make his living playing video games after all.
  • Quality over Quantity: His YouTube channel. He has very high standards for his work, which contributes to his popularity. This can likely be chalked up to his experience in the television industry. He's even officially certified with many common editing softwares. Check out his behind the scenes video for a closer look at his process.
  • Shout-Out: Frequently references movies, television, and other YouTube creators.
  • The Smart Guy: A Real Life example. What his YouTube channel is based on.
  • Third-Person Seductress: His reason for playing female characters.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Most of his clan-mates, but LeopardStealth deserves a special mention.
  • Workaholic: Despite what many people think, being a YouTuber is NOT easy. Exaggerated due to his high production standards.
