Sony Music Entertainment, a division of the electronics firm Sony, is a Video Game publishing company and music label. Founded in 1929 as American Record Corporation, its current name dates to 1991 when Sony retired the CBS name. The group's oldest label, Columbia Records, dates back to 1887.

In 2004, Sony merged with Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) to become Sony BMG. When Sony bought out BMG's stake in the record company in 2008, the "Sony Music Entertainment" name was revived.

Its video game production seems to be defunct as of 2011. It also owns Sony/ATV Music Publishing, one of the world's largest music publishers.
