The company specializes in mid-budget, star-driven films, which their founders felt were being phased out by the major studios. Their first release was Joel Edgerton's The Gift in 2015. In that same year, they also created their "family and animation" division, with their first project being an Ugly Dolls film in 2019. In 2021 following multiple box office failures and the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the studio was acquired by Eros International plc the parent company of the eponymous Bollywood film production company and distributor of the same name, and was renamed to ErosSTX. However in 2022, ErosSTX sold the company to investment firm Najafi Companies. Their distribution units were dissolved and ErosSTX became Eros Media World as it began focusing on its Indian film business.
