Robert Cormier (1925-2000) was a Québécois American novelist. Although born in Massachusetts, he was raised in a French Canadian section of Leominster. He found inspiration for his own work while attending Catholic school in his own youth and was a well-known journalist as well as a novelist. He is still considered a pioneer of Young Adult Literature, especially of the Darker and Edgier type. His work is frequently taught (and challenged) in high schools.
