Regis Francis Xavier Philbin (August 25, 1931 – July 24, 2020) was an American actor, singer and media personality known for hosting talk and game shows with his trademark energy, wit, ad-libs and New York accent. First co-starring on The Joey Bishop Show (the talk show) in 1967, he was best known for co-hosting the talk show Live^note first Live with Regis and Kathie Lee from 1988 to 2000, then Live with Regis from 2000 to 2001 after Kathie Lee Gifford left, then Live! with Regis and Kelly in 2001, when Kelly Ripa became his permanent co-host, up until his retirement in 2011 and for hosting the first American primetime version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

He holds the Guinness World Record for the most hours on American television.
