Paul Lawrence Smith (June 24, 1936 – April 25, 2012) was an American actor.
He was notable for his deep voice and imposing appearance, and was best known for his roles in Midnight Express, Popeye, and 1984's Dune.
Fascinated by Israel since he played a small part in Otto Preminger’s Exodus, Smith moved there after he retired from acting. He was married twice, to Norma Kalman and Eve Smith, the latter being married to him until his death in 2012.
