Patti Ann LuPone (born April 21, 1949) is an American actor and singer from Long Island, NY. A multi-awarded actress and modern Broadway legend, she made her stage debut in a production of The School for Scandal and won her first Tony for the role of Eva Perón in Evita. She would continue to play iconic theater characters, such as Fantine in the original London cast of Les Misérables, Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, Reno Sweeney in the 1987 revival of Anything Goes, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street's Mrs. Lovett in the revival, and Rose in the Gypsy revival. She's also appeared in a number of film and television works, such as Witness, Driving Miss Daisy, 30 Rock, American Horror Story, Penny Dreadful, and Steven Universe.
LuPone is of Italian descent, is a Julliard grad, and is married to cameraman Matthew Johnston.
