Neve McIntosh (born Carol McIntosh, 9 April 1972 in Paisley, Scotland) is a Scottish actress. She is known to Doctor Who fans around the world as Madame Vastra, the great detective (who also happens to be a lizard woman). Apart from Doctor Who, she has had an extensive career in British television and theater. She played Beryl Stapleton in a production of The Hound of the Baskervilles and Lady Fuchsia in Gormenghast. She's also appeared on Law & Order: UK and Ripper Street.
Since appearing in Doctor Who, she has attracted a considerable fanbase known as "Nevelets''.
