Bleecker Street is an American independent film distributor located in New York City, formed in August 2014 by Andrew Karpen. The company takes its name from 64 Bleecker Street, the address where Focus Features, the company Karpen was a longtime co-CEO of, is located.
The company's output tends to generally be very acclaimed by critics, with only five of their filmsnote gaining mixed reception at worst. However, Bleecker Street films have a tendency to not do too well at the box office despite acclaim, usually due to either limited theatrical release or release against better-performing films. Still, the company is doing very well in spite of this, and any losses are usually recouped through digital and video sales; it helps their films tend to be low in budget, similar to Blumhouse Productions.
