Barry Dennen (February 22, 1938 – September 26, 2017) was an American actor best known for playing Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar.

From 1960 to 1961, he was in a relationship with Barbra Streisand, wherein the two lived together and he helped her work on her nightclub act. Their relationship ended when Dennen realised he was gay.

In 1970, he was cast as Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar, a rock opera. He returned to the role of Pilate for both the 1971 Broadway production and the 1973 film adaptations.

Dennen made bit roles in American TV shows such as Batman (1966), L.A. Law, Newhart, and Wonder Woman (1975). He appeared in small roles in films most frequently between The '70s and The '80s, such as The Shining where he played hotel employee Bill Watson, and Shock Treatment where he played auto dealer Irwin Lapsey.

In his later years, he was a voice actor both on TV (Galtar and the Golden Lance, Jonny Quest, The Pirates of Dark Water) and in video games (Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom, Age of Empires III, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning).

He died at the age of 79 from health complications after a fall.
