A 2004-2008 Comic book series based on the The Batman set in the same universe, with stories following up episodes and other adventures with Batman and, later, Batgirl and Robin.

It ran for fifty issues.

Tropes for the comic.

  • All of Them: Used in Issue #39 when Black Mask orders one of his goons to call all of their footsoldiers.
  • Badass in Distress: Batman is held captive in Issue #34 by Riddler and D.A.V.E. and Batgirl and Robin try to rescue him.
  • The Cameo: Harvey Bullock and Rene Montoya make an appearance in #47 and in their Batman: The Animated Series designs.
  • Covers Always Lie: The cover of issue #37 features Killer Croc standing victorious over the beaten Batman Family, inside the very Batcave. This never happens in the comic itself. Although Croc does manage to do some damage to the Batcave (by partially flooding it), he never finds out where it is, never gets there and his actions are ultimately more of a nuisance rather than an actual threat. Also, the heroes fare against him with various levels of success, as usual, and are never outright defeated.
    • The cover of issue 40 also features Batgirl on the cover confronting the Riddler, but she never makes an appearance.
  • Hijacked by Ganon: A rather weird variant where D.A.V.E. is revealed to have survived his previous appearance, but in keeping with Death by Secret Identity he’s completely lost his memory and now thinks and acts exactly like Joker. Making it essentially a Joker story.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Issue 35 has the Joker terrorize Corwin O'Doolley, who was modelled on Conan O'Brien.
  • Not as You Know Them: One issue gives the usual team up of Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, but switches the roles around, making Harley the (relatively speaking) level-headed brain of the operation, while Ivy is the unstable one. It helps that Ivy is an impulsive teenager in this continuity, while Harley - while still a daffy hedonist - is a bit more independent and cunning than usual.
  • Shout-Out: The final issue is one big reference to Hellraiser, complete with a puzzle box that's a dead ringer to the Lament Configuration.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Ethan Bennett and Bruce Wayne after Bennett becomes Clayface, though Batman vows to try to bring back Ethan one day.
