Red Xmas is a Christmas-themed Horror Comedy Comic Book series by Clay Adams, Alexandre O. Phillipe, and Fabio Ramacci.
Mrs. Claus has died in a tragic toy accident, and Santa Claus didn't take it well. In fact, he took it so NOT well that he's decided he's through being a jolly old elf. So, the next time he comes to town, he isn't bringing presents to all the good little boys and girls. Heck, he isn't bringing coal to all the naughty little boys and girls either. This time, Santa's come to take all the children of the world away.
Amidst all this, FBI agent Ellie Tewksberry is in the middle of a family crisis. Her son, Byron, has run away to be with his father, Witherspoon Tewksberry. He's decided he's going to the North Pole since Witherspoon abandoned the family to become a Christmas Elf. When he gets there, though, he finds himself at the mercy of the not-so-jolly-anymore old elf.
Now, Ellie needs to team up with her ex to save Byron, all the children of the world... and Christmas.
The comic was funded on Indiegogo and Kickstarter, and was ultimately released in December of 2020.
Red Xmas contains examples of:
- Back from the Dead: Melvin tells Ellie about how, some eight hundred years after Santa was burned to death, he was resurrected by a pagan cult dedicated to worshipping him.
- Bad Santa: Santa has a Face–Heel Turn and becomes the child-kidnapping Big Bad of the comic after his wife dies.
- Christmas Elves: Naturally, this being a story with Santa Claus and all. One prominent one is Melvin, an elderly elf who tells Ellie about Santa's origins, how he became the jolly old elf, as well as "The Great Elf Holocaust of 1962".
- Donut Mess with a Cop: One of the cops in a police precinct is seen with a donut in his mouth.
- Face on a Milk Carton: When Ellie comes to an old derelict house where she was asked to meet with someone, one panel shows a milk carton on the ground with a kid's face on the side. Ellie stomps on it in the next panel.
- Fun with Acronyms: The group Ellie teams up with to stop Santa's actions is called the American Santa Society (A.S.S.)
- Missing Child: Every parent in the world suffers from this when Santa takes their kids away.
- Police Are Useless: The police initially don't help anyone who's lost their kid, mainly because they keep getting calls that their kid was taken either by a giant malevolent toy, or Santa Claus.
- The Runaway: Byron, who ran away from home to the North Pole to be with his dad.
- Santa Claus: He's in this, only he's not jolly anymore.
