Justice League Unlimited was a comic book tie-in for the Justice League cartoon, specifically its retool as Justice League Unlimited, and was the second comic tie-in for the cartoon after Justice League Adventures.

The Justice League Unlimited comic book began publication in 2004 and ended in 2008, running for 46 issues.

Some issues were reprinted in Supergirl Adventures Girl Of Steel and Justice League Unlimited – Girl Power.


Tropes:

  • Bad Santa: The 28th issue begins with the League fighting Clayface assuming the form of Santa Claus.
  • Christmas Episode: The 16th and 28th issues take place during Christmas.
  • Circling Birdies: In issue five, Green Lantern John Stewart gets knocked out by General Eiling and has winged power rings circle his head.
  • Cut His Heart Out with a Spoon: The 38th issue has an enraged Giganta threaten to make an earring out of the Flash's skull.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Issue 16 has Girder break out of prison solely out of a desire to visit his son during the holidays.
  • "Freaky Friday" Flip: Issue 33 has Stargirl and the Crimson Avenger switch minds.
  • Manchurian Agent: The eighth issue has the Question being mind-controlled by Brain Storm to black out and install a bomb in the Justice League watchtower.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The 12th issue begins with the Golden Age Flash Jay Garrick appear at Gardner Fox Elementary School, which is named after one of Jay Garrick's co-creators.
    • The 32nd issue has a cornered Guy Gardner refer to his arriving allies as "super friends".
    • Issue #7 has Supergirl punch Darkseid in Unstoppable Rage mode, which she previously did in "The Great Darkness Saga".
  • Place Worse Than Death: In issue 10, the Creeper says "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy", then states that the place he's referring to is Newark.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In the 39th issue, Detective Chimp mentions he has a cousin named Sam who is a cartoonist, implying that he's related to this continuity's Sam Simeon.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: Issue 3 has Ice duck off-panel to vomit a couple of times due to being disoriented by the Atom changing her size.
  • While You Were in Diapers: In the sixth issue, Green Lantern Corpsman Zibar snaps back at John Stewart telling him to stay down by remarking that he's worn his ring before Stewart's sun was lit.
