• Heroic Sacrifice: He attempts this in the climax of Chapter 6 in an attempt to destroy Orochi; Stella and Inaho stop him and together, they figure out an alternate method to defeat Orochi.
• Parental Abandonment: Suizen mentioned he's an orphan who never knew his parents.
• Right for the Wrong Reasons: Suizen believes that Inaho and her family are haunting Yamato because they are responsible for the merged worlds and have otherwise malevolent intentions, thus spurring his desire to capture her and send her back to where she came from. • Cool Teacher: Pun aside, she quickly becomes this in her Flipperversary Variant's unit episodes, being adored by all her students, even getting a love letter from one of them.
• Human Popsicle: Her sister Rei was suffering from a terminal illness so in order to save her life Cipher froze her time in ice. Unfortunately she can't unfreeze her so she joined Starview to study magic from other worlds to find a solution. Rei herself can still communicate with telepathy while still frozen.
• An Ice Person: Uses ice magic.
• Training the Gift of Magic: She has very powerful magic but suffers Power Incontinence that her control can't keep up with her growing power. It gets to the point that in her third unit episode that she brought her sister Rei all the way from the Endless Blue to Starview Village and room with her to help in studying.

Colonel of Gaea, which rules what little land is left in Endless Blue. Widely admired for her wit and backbone.

• Death Faked for You: When her crew captures Alk as an accomplice of pirates, Selene conspires for his interrogation room to be attacked during a battle at sea, while she hides him away from the impact zone. This is all to get Alk declared dead, so that she can work with him and the rest of the Starview crew to save the Endless Blue behind the Gaean Navy's back.
• Faking the Dead: When her actions in saving ships from the Maw get Selene relieved of her command, she decides to disappear, to give her crew plausible deniability. She charges headfirst into a massive battle against pirate crews seeking revenge, and sins the pirates' flagship, with her still aboard. Unknown to the Navy, Alk has the Mermaids enchant her to breathe underwater, and she leaves Endless Blue for Starview Village, so that she can work to save the planet without the Navy's interference.
• Really Gets Around: She mentioned to Alk having multiple "bedmates", even inviting him to join her.
• Roboteching: Her Skill, Wolf Stinger, fires off a barrage of missiles straight up into the air. After about a second, they come swarming back down to strike the nearest enemy, swerving in curved patterns to hit from different angles.
• Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Selene repeatedly and un-apologetically oversteps the boundaries of her command, in order to save civilians and fight threats the Navy is too slow or unconcerned to deal with. She calls in ships for reinforcements without acknowledgement from the Navy, and conspires with civilian and pirate ships to bolster her forces. When her superiors try to reprimand her for her perceived abuse of authority, she only tells them that she is saving lives, and that the planet is in danger that they're too scared to acknowledge.
• She Cleans Up Nicely: While she is still quite the beauty in her regular outfit, she can be quite stunning when she dresses up. Shown in H. Selgir's second character story when the two went out to talk about a job Selene wanted Selgir to take on. Alk and the others didn't even recognize her.
• Tank Goodness: She has a personal tank, which she breaks out even in naval combat. As a playable character, she rolls out the tank whenever she uses her Skill, and as part of her victory animation.

• The Brute: In her first appearance, she was basically hired guns to a criminal. Shuilong practically wiped the floor with Alk and Nimbus until her boss pissed her off.
• Exact Words: Her reasoning for returning to Starview Village after the stunt she pulled in Crown of the Beast King. SHE didn't murder anyone thus didn't breach her and Alk's contract.
• Jerkass: Shuilong is not a very pleasant person. She has the honor of being one of the few people that can make Alk lose his patience.
• Megaton Punch: Shuilong's main mode of attacking. Both her Regular and Proud variant have her slam the enemy with an extremely powerful punch dealing massive amount of damage.
• Token Evil Teammate: Shuilong more or less does whatever she wants, even if it's directly against the heroes. She was practically an antagonist in the Crown of The Beast King event, having been hired by Magnos to capture Teo.
• Worthy Opponent: Considers Helga as this after she beat her. She's extremely angry that she easily bests her in their rematch, wondering where all of Helga's power went.

• Exposed Extraterrestrials: In Flipper World #240, (Half Flipperversary) Amelia brings this to Alk's attention after the latter makes a fuss when the former shows off her new legs while wearing hot pants. Amelia concludes that having legs is sexier since Alk doesn't react as embarrassed looking at her when she (as her regular variant) has fins. Alk tells her that the exposure is different but she points out that it should be worse since her lower half is actually naked during those times. It then dawned on Alk enough to put him in a Troubled Fetal Position.
• The Nicknamer: Often gives her friends nicknames.
• Our Mermaids Are Different: The mermaids of the Endless Blue are descendants of humans who adapted to live underwater.
• Royals Who Actually Do Something: Is the princess of the mermaids of the Endless Blue.
• Seashell Bra: Her regular variant wears a white one.
• Start My Own: Since the end of Chapter 3: Endless Blue, the Crimson Blades led by Marina are hardly at the world as much so rogue pirates go unchecked at a higher rate despite there being the Geaen Navy (though there is some corruption) and the vigilance of adventurers (though there strengths vary wildly). In the third of her Half Flipperversary variant unit episodes, she decides to make and lead the Mermaid Pirates to fill the position's void.

• Boring, but Practical: While at first glance Shirano's kit might not look rather useful, with next to zero buffs to her or her team, Shirano sees a lot of use in endgame teams, as her (non-element locked, mind you) 80% starting gauge and one-time 30% gauge refill for the team allows her to almost singlehandedly patch up any team that has starting gauge issues.
• Lady-In-Waiting: To Inaho. It's even the name of her leader skill.
• Supreme Chef: Shirano won over Alk of all people after preparing a meal, to demonstrate that Alk's choice of soy sauce was too overseasoned for her taste, a common gripe she has with human cuisine in general. (Note that Alk didn't even know what soy sauce was until he met Hanabi.)
• No-Sell: Her Skill provides up to five seconds of Invincibility, notable in the fact that Shirano is one of 2 units even capable of providing Invincibility (the other being Cecilla), and she's the only unit capable of applying it to every single player in the room.
• Team Mom: Seems to instinctively adopt this position wherever she goes, first by acting as a caretaker for Inaho, then later for Starview Village as a whole when she decides to look after Alk and the gang.
