Slaine "Log-a-Log" Brugo

  • Abusive Dad: He regularly beat and raped his son throughout his life.
  • Alcoholic Dad: He's an Abusive Dad who's frequently seen drunk, and whenever he isn't already drunk, he's drinking.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Teams up with Krassak Ralfur in Book II.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He acts very jovial and friendly towards others, but he's really a sadistic beast who has no problem manipulating other beasts into killing each other.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: The first two chapters he appears in shows him pitting both Kurwin's crew and Urthquake's battalion against each other. In Book II, he kills his own Lancer and teams up with Krassak's horde just to save his own hide.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: In a flashback in Book II, he kills his son's friend and then mercilessly beats Benrath because they laughed at him for shitting himself.
  • Faceā€“Heel Turn: He kills his own Lancer and teams up with Krassak, eager to take part in his schemes to destroy Mossflower.
  • Fat Bastard: He's a manipulative, backstabbing, obese shrew who only cares about himself.
  • Fat Slob: He's an very corpulent shrew who cares little about hygiene and isn't nonchalant about wetting or soiling his britches.
  • I Am Not Your Father: Turns out that Log-a-Log isn't Ben's true father. His real parents were killed by Log-a-Log himself, and then he "adopted" Benrath and raised him as his own child.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Spends most of his time inside his hut drinking and eating. Subverted in Book II, where he finally gets off his "throne" so he can hunt down his son, along with Tegast's group.
  • Parental Incest: He developed an incestuous relationship with Benrath when he was a babe.
  • Potty Failure: A flashback shows him shitting himself in his sleep after drinking too much.
  • Walking Spoiler: As of Book II, he definitely becomes one.

Barlo Arvack

  • Undying Loyalty: Deconstructed. He first appears as Log-a-Log's most loyal bodyguard, but in the very next chapter, he starts questioning his Chieftain. As the story progresses, he grows more and more suspicious of his deeds until he reaches his breaking point when Log-a-Log considers allying himself with someone like Krassak. Realizing he's not as loyal as he thought, Log-a-Log quickly kills him.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: He barely said anything in every chapter he appeared in. When he finally does something notable, he's killed almost immediately.

Jurlick

  • Ass Shove: Benrath shoves several pine cones, and even a spear, up his ass before killing him.
  • Asshole Victim: No one is going to miss him.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: He's set up as becoming an Arch-Enemy for Benrath, but he's such a Smug Snake that he fails at doing so. Even when he succeeds in getting revenge at Ben, he's killed off in the very next chapter.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: He and Benrath decide to forgive and forget towards the end of Book I. Subverted though, as Book II reveals that Jurlick didn't do either.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: He kills his former friends and gets Benrath gang-raped because he was upset over Benrath besting him in a fight.
  • Eye Scream: Benrath finishes him off by jamming a broken spear into his right eye.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Despite being a very antagonistic and homophobic bully, Book I shows him and Benrath becoming friends. It's all for show though so he can get Ben to drop his guard. And when he does, he murders all of Ben's friends and gets him gang-raped.
  • Smug Snake: He acts like he's a skilled fighter, but he's frequently subdued by everyone who physically fights him.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: As bad as he was in Book I, all he did was bully Benrath, mostly with words. In Book II, he outright commits murder and then convinces Rowgat and other monitor lizards into raping Ben, all because he humiliated him during a fight he instigated.
