Black Hat Organization

    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/black_hat1.png
"Evil is our business and business is good."
An evil organization that sells all kinds of weapons and objects to any and all villains (and non-villains) who require their services, in exchange for their clients' money or souls.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: None of the members are shy about their nefarious intentions nor any immoral actions taken to achieve them.
  • Equal-Opportunity Evil: They'll help both evil and not-so-evil clients, so as long as they are willing to pay up well, with either money or their souls.
  • Evil, Inc.: They specialize in helping villains, killing heroes, and making all worlds a darker place.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Many times, the Organization ends up clashing against other evil groups and entities in pursuit of satisfying customers, such as rival villains, not-so-heroic heroes and eldritch entities.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: Black Hat (Choleric), Flug (Melancholic), Demencia (Sanguine), 5.0.5 (Phlegmatic).
  • Greater-Scope Villain: For all Cartoon Network and who knows how many others.
  • Laughably Evil: Evil, Inc. full of Villain Protagonists, whose misdeeds are always Played for Laughs. Exaggerated with Black Hat, Eldritch Abomination, who destroyed entire planets and ruined civilizations just for the sake of it. And whose every screen moment is funny to watch.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: In the comic to the Batman's day, Flug, Demencia and 5.0.5 put the poor costumes of The Scarecrow, Harley Quinn and Bane respectively to fool Batman and police. It works!
  • Villain Protagonist: The outstanding example within the group is Black Hat but all of them serve the whims of humanity's evil in their own way. Certainly the series' main focus is their exploits, as dastardly as those may be.
  • Villainous Friendship: Averted with Black Hat, but played straight between Flug, 5.0.5., and, to a lesser extent, Demencia. Flug and 5.0.5. share a close father-son relationship, and while Demencia likes to screw with Flug, she isn't above having fun with them every now and then, like when they toured Mexico at the end of "The VVV". According to Alan Ituriel, 5.0.5. treats and thinks about Demencia as his older sister.
  • Villains Out Shopping: Black Hat's minions can often end up like this when their mission ends and Black Hat feels sadistic enough to leave them on their own devices to get back to the base. Notably in The VVV Flug, 5.0.5 and Demencia end up having a normal fun time in Mexico after Black Hat ditches them there. Black Hat does this sometimes, like shopping for a puppy... to eat.

Black Hat

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blackhattransparentnew_7.png
"Hello, my villainous viewers! It is I, Black Hat! Here once again to provide you with the latest items to destroy all the goody-goody two-shoes in your life."
Voiced by: Alan Ituriel (English, Spanish)

An ancient and incomprehensibly powerful entity of unknown origin that wears a top hat and is theorized to be the very source of all evil in existence, Black Hat is the CEO of the Black Hat Organization, a company that caters to supervillains and crooks of all shapes and sizes. However, his greatest weakness is his own frighteningly short temper.

  • Abnormal Limb Rotation Range: He's capable of turning his head a full 180 degrees.
  • Adaptational Badass: His original version was a villainous sort but nowhere near even implied to be the borderline Eldritch Abomination Invincible Villain he's in the series proper.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Adding to the above, he goes from minor deeds and celebrating the apocalypse to outright causing apocalypses and practically doing all sorts of cruel things anytime he's onscreen.
  • Admiring the Abomination: He has something resembling awe and respect of the Lich. Knowing the Lich's history, it's hard not to see why.
  • Ancient Evil: Considering he's portrayed as the benefactor to every single Cartoon Network villain, it's heavily implied he's been around since the beginning of The Multiverse itself.
  • All Myths Are True: Black Hat is practically all demons, gods, etc. in Earth's many cultures. For example, he's the mexican demon El Charro Negro and aztec's Top God as you can see in Good-Times Montage in episode The VVV.
  • Always a Bigger Fish: He's the biggest fish, knows it, and makes sure everyone else does, as well.
  • Arms Dealer: The Black Hat Organization's purpose. The orientation videos reveal him to be the supplier of the Delightful Children, Mojo Jojo, Vilgax, and even Aku. And those are just a few of the many villains that are subsidiaries of the Black Hat Organization, and not just those limited to the Cartoon Network multiverse, since he's bought and is now the new owner of Freddy Fazbear Entertainment, and is also the benefactor of Davy Jones, the Xenomorphs and Predators, Mongul, Darkseid, and Cthulhu.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: Black Hat is described as evil incarnate. Pops likens his very presence to all evil in the universe gathered in one place.
  • Author Powers: He likes to spend his time watching television to rewrite a show's plot so something horribly tragic occurs.
  • Ax-Crazy: Beneath the professionalism, Black Hat is a violent psychopath who enjoys villainy in all its forms. This is especially apparent whenever he loses his temper or becomes excited.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Possibly the most powerful being in the Cartoon Network multiverse and is never seen outside of his black and red suit, tie, and top hat.
  • Badass Longcoat: A black one.
  • Bad Boss: He's not a pleasant boss to work for, least of all toward his crew, especially Dr. Flug and 5.0.5..
    • Cartoon Chronicles portrays him as one of the bosses of the Real Life staff, and he's hardly a pleasant boss here either, though Diego, the writer, seems to think otherwise.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: Just in case his treatment of 5.0.5. didn't tip you off, he melts and eats puppies in his spare time. Interestingly, he does have a pet snake named Lil' Jack that he's implied to be at least decent to.
  • Been There, Shaped History: He was a humanity's (and entire Multiverse's) source of evil, madness and mayhem for many eons. For example, he caused the eruption of Vesuvius, created and sent many plagues, etc.
  • Berserk Button: Downplayed. He's quick to anger in general, but few things set him off more than the Villain Ball and Stupid Evil. Lord Boxman, Malum Kranus, and Aku earned his ire for their incompetence while Mojo Jojo got a tongue lashing for creating his very own arch-enemies.
    • On a much smaller note, he loathes heroes wearing top hats, as demonstrated by his hatred of Pops.
  • Big Bad: As the founder of the Black Hat Organization and Villain Protagonist of the series, he fills the role by default, and his connections to other villains makes him the ultimate antagonist for the entirety of Cartoon Network.
    • He takes center stage in the Victor and Valentino crossover episode, Villainy in Monte Macabre, where he sends Flug and Demencia to capture a heroic squid creature (CaCao) that's been causing trouble for one of his clients.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: And how! He's Always Someone Better (and it's implied to be Even More Omnipotent) to everyone in everything (except showing kindness) and is implied to be genius inventor. But he's retired now. But when he decides to do something himself, he'll win.
  • The Cameo: In the OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes episode "Crossover Nexus", he's among the various CN characters (most of them being heroes) who have been turned to stone by Strike and stands out among them by being a Villain Protagonist. The Orientation Q&A video reveals that this was actually the perfect clone Black Hat made of himself in "The Perception of Evil".
  • Card-Carrying Jerkass: In accordance to his immorality, he's openly proud of his terrible behavior toward others.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: He proudly wears his evil on his sleeve.
  • Character Blog: He has a (currently inactive) ask.fm account
  • Classic Villain: Given the heavy implication that he's one of the first, if not the first, villains in all of CN history, it shouldn't be a surprise that the man(?) is classic in more than one way. So far, he embodies Ambition, Pride, Wrath, Greed, and Sloth:
    • Ambition: Was once a Galactic Conqueror who enslaved countless worlds and now sells his talents and resources to see other villains succeed over heroes.
    • Pride: To the degree he considers himself the greatest being of evil and that other villains are beneath him.
    • Greed: Runs the biggest supervillain service organization, and is very itchy for money, and other forms of currency.
    • Wrath: Has a frighteningly short fuse.
    • Sloth: Nowadays spends his time sitting at home, letting his minions do all work. Though, this can be justifiable, since he's retired.
  • Classy Cane: Is normally seen with a simple black cane, which compliments his dapper appearance.
  • The Collector: He tends to have a variety of trophies and treasures in his house. From some standard ones such as Fabergé eggs and portraits of himself, to the statute of his clone, to even the Beast's head mounted on his wall and Steven's/Pink Diamond's gem framed.
  • Cool Sword: The Black Hat Magisword. It is a sword, shaped like his hat, that fires a laser that can destroy a planet.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: If the way he treats his subordinates didn't tip you off, he makes it very clear in his Medusa experiment that you'd better buy his stuff... or else.
  • Create Your Own Villain: Black Hat has intentionally created a few bad guys himself. For example, he's the one who turned Mascara Macabra in an Evil Mask and turned Deenah Lindbergh into Mother Poltergeist.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Averting this is Black Hat's whole deal. Despite being completely and totally evil, he no longer plans to take over the world or defeat any heroes (at least for now). Instead, he sells the goods and services to help other villains do it.
  • Dark Is Evil: Looks, dresses, and very much acts the trope.
  • Dastardly Whiplash: He definitely invokes the look (black tuxedo and top hat, monocle and British accent) and the mannerisms (prone to Villainous Breakdowns, Bad Boss tendencies, and an overall Ungrateful Bastard) the difference being with everyone else in the trope is that it's implied that he's actually a successful villain. He used to have the mustache to match during the heyday of the American Frontier era, but has since shaved it off.
  • Deal with the Devil: After his minions fulfill his part of the bargain for Penumbra, he has her sign a contract while sporting a terrifying Slasher Smile. The Faustian nature of the contract becomes apparent in a Freeze-Frame Bonus where Penumbra apparently signs over her soul; once she does so, a part of her shadow ends up merging with Black Hat's own.
  • Decoy Protagonist: Downplayed. He's still the face of the series, and the central character but the Orientation mini-series starts to shift him into a peripheral role, while Flug, Demencia, and 5.0.5. come to the forefront as the actual protagonists the series follows. This continues into the pilot proper, with Black Hat merely dispatching his minions to deal with heroes while he handles the business side of things.
  • Demon Lords and Archdevils: See God of Evil and Our Demons Are Different.
  • Devil in Plain Sight: As seen in BHs Bizarre Bad-venture, he often goes into human world and nobody even suspect anything bad about him.
  • Do Wrong, Right: In Black Hat's eyes, if you're going to be a villain, be a competent and efficient one. Those who clutch the Villain Ball and are prone to Stupid Evil are probably his biggest Berserk Buttons.
  • The Dreaded: Everyone who knows about him, from cosmic entities to regular villains, knows that they should fear and respect him, or they will pay for it greatly. Not that doing so guarantees your safety anyway.
  • Dystopia Justifies the Means: He enslaved many planets and civilisations just For the Evulz. Plus, he's a Bad Boss to his crew and loves to do the smallest evil deeds because it's funny to him.
  • The End of the World as We Know It: He celebrates the approaching 2012 apocalypse during the original shorts. Silly Flug! He doesn't celebrate Christmas after all!
  • Enmity with an Object: According to Flug, the closest thing he has to a rival is the tablet he got as a Christmas gift, which he ruins when trying to tap it because of his extremely sharp claws.
  • Equal-Opportunity Evil: As Black Hat Hates Everyone Equally, he and his organization "do not discriminate any kind of villain in terms of age, gender, species, body count, or otherwise".
  • Eternal Villain: Is implied to be one.
  • Enraged by Idiocy: He gets extremely angry when his minions screw up their orders. One of his genuinely terrifying moments is when his crew nearly expose his hideout to the heroes.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Black Hat, along with his clone and Flug, were outright disgusted with the Dopey Black Hat in one of the shorts.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Downplayed - Black Hat understands that The Power of Love and The Power of Friendship exist, and are quite effective at opposing villains. His ways of countering them, however (namely the Dapura Repulsa flower) miss the point of why these powers work in the first place - they're unconditional.
  • Evil Debt Collector: If someone takes a loan from Black Hat, he will see it paid one way or another. Metauro made the mistake of taking a hefty loan from the Organization and Black Hat had his family kidnapped and put under threat of death should Metauro not Work Off the Debt.
  • Eviler than Thou:
    • Considers himself this to all of the villains of Cartoon Network, even well known heavy-hitters like Vilgax and Aku. Even when his own subordinates are bickering and/or annoying each other, Black Hat winds up doing something far worse. One example is Demencia torturing 5.0.5. by scratching her nails on a chalkboard. What does Black Hat do? He scratches the chalkboard so hard, it tears a portal into a hellish dimension, causing everyone physical pain.
    • Ironically ends up on the opposing end as seen in the OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes crossover special, "Crossover Nexus" where he is turned to stone like his fellow Cartoon Network protagonists. It's later subverted, as the Q/A reveals it was the duplicate created in The Perception of Evil short.
  • Evil Brit: His English voice has a slimy Cockney accent.
  • Evil Eyebrows: His eyebrows are huge, even stretching past his face, though it has been confirmed that they're not eyebrows. They're antennae!
  • Evil Feels Good: He lives and breathes evil, and really gets out a kick out of being the most vile bastard he can be.
  • Evil Is Hammy: He shouts practically all the time, often Milking the Giant Cow and Chewing the Scenery 99% of his screen time.
  • Evil Is Petty: Being a Card-Carrying Villain who relishes in committing any acts of evil, Black Hat will kick even the smallest dogs for the satisfaction it will bring.
    • This is best seen in Villainous Satellite Secrets, where despite his usual greed, he has V.I.R.U.S. spoil the ending of Flug's favorite show as payment. His laughing shows he thinks it was sufficient.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Occasionally, his voice will sink to this, usually when he's highly emotional.
  • Evil Sounds Raspy: He combines the above trope with this.
  • Evil Wears Black: Wears a black tuxedo and top hat.
  • Exorcist Head: Black Hat does this before turning the rest of his body in "Bad Security".
  • Experienced Protagonist: Has conquered, enslaved, and outright destroyed countless heroes, civilizations, and worlds before we see him in retirement by the start of the series.
  • Eye Beams: Among his abilities, he can shoot Frickin' Laser Beams from his eyes that can zap anything.
  • Fangs Are Evil: Has a mouth full of teal fangs.
  • Fantastic Racism: He openly admits to viewing humans as inferior and that he sees no difference between an ape like Mojo Jojo and a regular human.
  • Faux Affably Evil: As shown when speaking to customers like Penumbra and Adelita, Black Hat is capable of acting polite enough, but of course he's just trying to smooth-talk them into signing contracts that demand a high price for his services, usually their souls.
  • For the Evulz: There are more than a few occasions where Black Hat commits evil for evil's sake. His regular abuse of his subordinates is just one such example.
  • Galactic Conqueror: The Vilgax orientation reveals him to be a successful conqueror of multiple worlds and civilizations.
  • Ghostly Glide: He's almost never seen actually walking, preferring to levitate or teleport his way to his destination.
  • God of Darkness: Black Hat is a Top God of Evil whose main domain is a dark depressing island (in the form of a black hat) with a black cloud (again, in a form of a black hat).
  • Greater-Scope Villain: THE Greater-Scope Villain for all of Cartoon Network. He's depicted as the greatest evil in the CN Multiverse who provides the means for the Big Bads to be successful villains in their shows, but he never confronts their respective heroes.
  • God of Evil: Heavily implied. podemosbailar.com even reveals that he literally has his own cult of worshipers named "la doctrina del sombrero" (the hat doctrine).
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Even the slightest setback or mistake on the part of his minions quickly sends him into a rage; usually when one of Flug's inventions doesn't function properly.
  • Hate Sink: Inverted. There is literally nothing remotely good in him, as far as we've seen. He's nailed down kicking dogs and generally being unpleasant to an art form. However, how he carries himself due to how powerful and impressive he is, along with being a Villain Protagonist, means the audience can't help but like how inexplicably awesome he is.
  • Hates Everyone Equally: The Dapura Repulsa flower doesn't work on him because he has nothing but hate in his entire being.
  • The Heartless: He specifically describes himself as a heartless creature, as well as why the Dapura Repulsa flower didn't work on him.
  • Hellfire: Summons it when considerably enraged. It's bright crimson.
  • Hero Killer: It has been implied multiple times that he had slain countless heroes before his retirement, until he finally outright says so in the Questionnaire Short. But even after his retirement from active villainy, he's dead set on making the era of heroes fall by selling his many services to other villains who pay for them.
Question: How many heroes have you wiped out?
Black Hat: Do you remember how many ants you have stepped on?
  • Hidden Depths:
    • He sometimes plays mini-golf to relax himself, along with reading the newspaper in his spare time. Notably, this was shown in a Description Cut when Flug thinks that Black Hat will commit some atrocity.
    • It's implied that he's a genius inventor and Gadgeteer Genius himself and made many atrocious devices only by himself and before Flug even existed.
    • He can play the organ very well. And Word of God says he can play guitar very well too.
    • In Black Hat Challenges II he shows to be a great ventriloquist.
  • High-Class Glass: Wears a monocle.
  • Humanoid Abomination: Black Hat has shapeshifting abilities, has a mouth full of teal fangs, can fire deadly lasers from his eyes, can tear his own face off with no ill effects, and frequently causes Ominous Visual Glitches when around cameras, especially when he's angered and his voice slips into distinctly non-human territory, suggesting the "Humanoid" part of "Humanoid Abomination" is just a form he prefers to maintain for his own convenience. Oh, and he can tear portals in flat surfaces by merely scratching them.
  • I Gave My Word: Sometime after the events of the pilot, he removed Sunblast from Demencia's stomach and handed him over to Penumbra, exactly as agreed. Note, this is the only time Black Hat upholds his end of a bargain without it remotely backfiring on his client.
  • Inexplicably Awesome: How is Black Hat so powerful, terrifying, and seemingly unstoppable? No explanation; he just is.
  • Invincible Villain: According to him, no hero is on his level of power and has killed so many in his heyday, he lost count nor does he consider it worth the effort.
Question: Have you ever faced an enemy that was a real threat, and who was tough to beat?
    Black Hat: No.
Question: Is there any "Hero" who is at Black Hat's level?
    Black Hat: HAHAHAHA- No.
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: A point of pride for him is that he's occasionally referred to as an "It," even by Flug.
  • It's All About Me: Most definitely. He's an utter narcissist, through and through and everything he does is for his own benefit. Even the Muscular Black Hat clone says it.
Muscular Black Hat: The most evil thing I can think of is leaving the audience wishing for more me.
  • I Resemble That Remark!: In Sculpting Evil this happens twice in a row. To show how the Medusa Device works, Dr. Flug creates a statue of Black Hat with an annoyed expression. Cut to Black Hat wearing the exact same expression before he angrily protests "What?! I don't look like that!", at which point there's a newspaper clipping behind him, showing him in the exact same position and with the words "He doesn't".
  • Jerkass to One: He hates everyone and is a complete Jerkass towards everyone (who isn't his client at the moment) but it's pretty clear that Flug is his favourite target.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Black Hat is a total bastard to everyone around him. He also seemed sympathetic at first when he sees 5.0.5 crying over a dropped ice cream cone, since he managed to retrieve it for him with his powers, only to transform it into a monster and scare off 5.0.5. Black Hat then scares said ice cream cone for good measure.
  • Kick the Dog: Expect him to do this anytime he's onscreen, especially Flug and 5.0.5. According to Word of God, he melts puppies as a pass time whenever he's bored. In episode 5 of the series, it's confirmed that he also eats those for lunch.
  • Lack of Empathy: He's a Card-Carrying Jerkass who loves to see others suffer. Which he openly admits and very proud of.
  • Large Ham: He has No Indoor Voice and indulges in Chewing the Scenery.
  • Laughably Evil: He's definitely a menace and dead-serious in his villainous exploits, but his sly and duplicitous behaviour and exasperation with his minions' antics are quite amusing.
  • Lean and Mean: He's not as lean as Dr. Flug, but definitely mean as a Bad Boss villain.
  • London Gangster: Black Hat might garb himself with classy clothing, but he's an incorrigible thug through-and-through. The English dub goes one step further by giving him a slimy Cockney accent.
  • The Man Behind the Man: For practically every CN Big Bad. His goods and services are one of the primary reasons they're successful villains.
  • Master Actor: In one short, he puts his Voluntary Shapeshifting to good use and scares Demencia by posing as 5.0.5 and giving a sudden roar and a Nightmare Face. Ironically, Demencia had just dressed up as Black Hat and was trying to scare who she thought was 5.0.5.
  • Meaningful Name: Cowboy films from the 20s-40s often had the heroes wearing white hats while the villains wore black ones. The term "Black Hat" is still used today as a shorthand for villains. With the reveal that Black Hat isn't his real name, it's likely he took up the name as a catch-all alias.
  • Me's a Crowd: Utilizing one of Flug's devices, he creates the most evil thing he can think of: Himself.
  • Modernized God: He's the most ancient Top God of Evil but he's very modernised: he's using TV, computer, radio and Internet to do evil things and even can interfere with characters in movies, cartoons, videogames, etc. to make suffer as characters as viewers/players/etc. and can easily control and manipulate technology either by his powers or traditional way.
  • Mood-Swinger: One moment, he's advertising his products as any shady dealer would. The next, he's convulsing with rage and, eventually, descends into hate-filled madness for a short-while.
  • Mr. Fanservice: One of his clones, named Black Hot, is this to a T, complete with exaggerated muscles and poses, much to Demencia's excitement.
  • Narcissist: Setting aside his massive ego, Black Hat lives and breathes this trope. He's unwilling to empathize with others, and is all too happy to step on them for his own benefit. He's a morally bankrupt business tycoon who will lie through his teeth to get what he wants. He's capable of putting up a professional front when it's convenient but barely conceals how much of a violent psychotic he is. He also never misses an opportunity to flaunt his superiority over others, constantly talking down to other villains, and being on such a high league of his own, the closest any villain can get to him is "Almost Black Hat".
  • Never Bareheaded: Much like his clone, he's shown wearing a bowler hat under his regular top hat.
  • Nightmare Face: He's pretty fond of flashing these when he's out to terrify someone (usually his subordinates).
  • Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: Comes naturally to him, being basically an Anthropomorphic Personification of Evil and Cartoonish Supervillainy. Due to being a sociopath done rather straight and a grade A Humanoid Abomination with Lovecraftian Superpowers, he presents an incredibly dark example of Cartoonish Supervillainy.
  • No, I Am Behind You: One of the many ways he enjoys screwing with Flug.
  • No Indoor Voice: He screams at every thing that annoys him (which is practically everything).
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill: The only reason to explain his security systems, which even dwarf the house they're protecting.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: Justified. While he's more than capable of destroying heroes personally, he's currently retired and more concerned with running his business and employing agents to do his bidding.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: He likes to gloat after he completed his plans and he likes to do evil things as quickly and simple as possible. And he wants the same from other villains.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: He's often gets into someone's face, struggles someone and even slams others into each other.
  • Obviously Evil: Just look at the picture above. Does he look like a good guy? And including the fact that he has Voluntary Shapeshifting, that's Invoked Trope.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: He'll often scare his subordinates by walking offscreen only to appear behind them on their opposite side.
  • The Omniscient: It's implied he knows everything what, how, whenever happened, happens and will happen in The Multiverse and the times when he appears oblivious are just an act so he can make even eviler (even as petty as make his own workers suffer and/or punish them themselves).
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: According to Mojo Jojo's Orientation Video, Black Hat isn't his real name, as apparently people saying his real name gives them a bit of a case of death.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Justified. Since he's retired from active villainy, Black Hat is content to just run his business, selling goods and services to other villains or sending his agents to personally provide aid where necessary. Also, because the show follows the exploits of his crew, it's just as likely this trope is in effect to keep Black Hat from resolving every conflict himself, which he can very well do given his immense power.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Despite having a deep connection to fire, it's not exactly clear what he is, but he's definitely some sort of malevolent entity.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • In the most absolute minuscule way imaginable, but when Flug reminds him that Mojo Jojo is a Platinum member of the Black Hat Organization, he makes the effort to try and limit the amount of barbs he throws at the chimp. Keep in mind he does not extend this courtesy to Aku, who has also purchased products from the Black Hat Organization on a lesser level than Mojo.
    • As shown in Penumbra’s Character Blog, he eventually removed Sunblast from Demencia’s stomach and gave the hero over to said client, exactly as he promised. Note that he has been perfectly willing to go back on his word, as the orientation videos have shown.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Black Hat relishes in committing even the most petty acts of villainy, but he's not Stupid Evil. He doesn't like or care about his minions on a personal level and is annoyed by their antics, but keeps them around because they get results. The same applies to his business conduct; while slimy and not above threatening customers, Black Hat understands that keeping his business afloat means maintaining a decent relationship with his clientele.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Given all of his clear experience and intelligence, it is quite shocking to see how quickly and frequently Black Hat loses his cool at the smallest problem or slight thrown his way. Add the fact that he uses his powers to mess with, torture, and outright murder anyone and anything within his vicinity at any given moment, he can honestly come across as a cruel child or teenager given too much power rather than malevolent force of nature he actually is with how he acts.
  • Reality Warper: His powers dip into shades of his - at one point, he got so angry he caused the Pompeii eruption. Yup.
  • Reconstruction: Of Invincible Villain and Cartoonish Supervillainy. He's an invincible and omnipotent Large Ham but he's not ignorant or overconfident about his powers and abilities, so he's a No-Nonsense Nemesis who use every opportunity to win and also he actually learns as time goes. For example, he's a Modernized God and Gadgeteer Genius. But he's funny at the same time mostly because he's Chewing the Scenery and Crosses the Line Twice. So he's a Cartoonish Supervillain who always wins.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Is never seen outside of his black and red suit and is the most vile creature in the show bar none.
  • Retired Monster: Black Hat used to be a Big Bad, but has since retired and now makes a living selling weapons to other Big Bads. However, if the ARG and series teaser are anything to go by, he doesn't intend to stay inactive for much longer...
  • Sadist: He takes pleasure in the suffering of others, especially Flug and 5.0.5.
  • Satanic Archetype: He's a dark, malevolent, shapeshifting entity who is implied to either be the originator of evil or evil itself taking physical form. He spends his days tormenting his underlings and promoting evil out the world (if not the entire Cartoon Network multiverse) by helping villains fight heroes, usually in return for their immortal soul. Also, the orientation videos apparently make up only 1 volume of 666.
  • Slasher Smile: Has it down to an art.
  • Slouch of Villainy: Promotional art has him doing this.
  • The Sociopath: He's pure evil without any redeeming qualities.
  • Speak of the Devil: One of the orientation videos has him reveal that if someone says his real name, they die. The image on screen when he says this implies that it is because he shows up to kill them.
  • Stalker without a Crush: He spies on everything and everyone for two things:get the profit for it (usually the souls of his clients) and see evil (even the smallest ones) and suffering of others.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: His opinion of his crew, but knowing how Flug, Demencia, and 5.0.5. are, it's hard not to blame him for feeling this way.
Black Hat: I hate all of you.
  • Tear Off Your Face: He does this to himself in a fit of frustration and anger, when the Medusa Device runs out of power after producing a cutesy statue of 5.0.5 giving him and the others a cheerful hug.
  • Thinking Up Portals: He can tear open passages into seemingly other dimensions with his claws, unleashing god-knows-what unto the world.
  • Time Abyss: Word of God states he is very, very old. How old exactly is anyone's guess.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In the original shorts there was no indication that he had any powers. Now, he's the Greater-Scope Villain to an entire multiverse and a full-blown Invincible Villain who conquered many worlds and killed countless heroes before his retirement.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: In the original shorts, he was very much an underhanded scoundrel, but now all bets are off.
  • Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth:
    • When the Dapura Repulsa flower latches onto him, it squirms for a moment in confusion before suddenly shriveling up and dying. Black Hat points out that, while the parasite is intended to infect its host with a Hate Plague (inverting feelings of affection to disgust), it has no effect on a heartless creature like himself.
    • In a comic strip, there is an inversion. Dr. Flug creates the most corrosive acid known to the universe, but puts it in Black Hat's drinking cup while he finds a suitable container. Black Hat finds it and takes a sip, but spits it out and melts 5.0.5's face, complaining it was "too sweet" for his tastes.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: When Dr. Flug lands outside the lair after taking the full brunt of the inside security system, Black Hat grumpily says in return "Took you long enough..." Oh, and he deliberately steps onto Dr. Flug afterwards, who was grievously injured by this point.
  • Villainous Breakdown: This happens quite often in the shorts, where Black Hat flies off the handle when an invention doesn't work as intended or is totally botched by his crew. This gets scaled back considerably in the series proper, however.
  • Villain Protagonist: Of Villainous.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: He can change his shape and size at will with seemingly no limit, since in one short he took the form of 5.0.5. to play a trick on Demencia, and in another he grew to twice his size when his lackies made him angry.
  • Wicked Cultured: Loves classical music, can play organ very well, etc. and the biggest asshole you ever see.
  • Would Hit a Girl: He sometimes knocks Demencia around, not that it ever deters her from trying to put the moves on him.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Kicks a younger 5.0.5 hard enough to cause a Twinkle in the Sky during the orientation video on Mojo Jojo.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: He loves invoking this trope, especially for Flug. In one comic, he caught Flug's model of a plane only to burn it. And in Satellite Secrets, his price for V.I.R.U.S. is to spoil to Flug the last series of his favourite show.

    Dr. Flug

Dr. Kenning "Flug" Flugslys

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/youknowihadtodoittoem.png
"All built to your specifications, Mister Black Hat, sir!"
Voiced by: Todd "Eco Vox" Asayer (English, shorts and original pilot only), Yian Ruiz (English, TV series), José Antonio Macías (Spanish)

Black Hat's masked top scientist, and the one to suffer the most at the hands of pretty much everything. His real name is Kenning Flugslys.

  • Absurd Phobia: Despite working for someone like Black Hat, the most evil thing Flug can think of is...a sandwich with too much mayo. Word of God confirms this is due to some past sandwich-related trauma.
  • Actor Allusion: He gets some for his Latin American dub voice actor, Jose Antonio Macias, often referring to Pokémon: The Series since Macias is the voice actor of James in the Latin American Dub.
    • When he, Demencia and 5.0.5 are beaten by Sunblast and launched to Black Hat's base, he shouts "El Equipo Black Hat ha sido vencido otra vez!"note
    • In The VVV while fighting the Mask-possessed Demencia, he tells her that she and him are like Jessie and James.
    • Yet another for James comes up in BH's Bizarre Bad-Venture where he leaves Demencia to fight her Buff Doppelganger while saying "Demencia, yo te elijo!"note
  • Affably Evil: Aside from the fact that he proudly advertises himself as an Evil Genius, and that he has absolutely no problem with enacting horrifically painful and monstrous experiments on test subjects, who can range from well-known villains from other shows to his own sentient robots, he's relatively reasonable and easy to get along with (if you're not any of the narrators, that is). He's polite, dotes on 5.0.5. like a loving parent, is disgusted with Demencia's impassioned violence to the point of nausea, and Penumbra's Instagram page shows that he once sent her a birthday gift of a jar of chloroplast to try and help her with her environmentalism research, along with a really sweet card that read, "Hope you have a happy birthday! Better days and more surprises are coming! —Flug"
  • Affectionate Nickname:
    • In the Spanish version, Flug regularly calls Black Hat "Jefecito" (a term of endearment form of "boss"), sometimes adding the word "chulo" (cute/good-looking). In other words, "good-looking boss". Though, it's used more to appease his boss than to convey affection.
    • Also in the Spanish version, Flug rarely calls 5.0.5. by his name, normally calling him "Pachoncito" (Softie).
    • In their better moments, Demencia calls him "Doc".
    • Subverted in "The Heedeeous Heart" where Miss Heed/Cecilia keeps referring to him with diminutives such as "Fluggy" or, in a personal note, "Kenny". While intended to be affectionate, Flug recognizes them as clear manipulation tactics on his erstwhile friend/crush's part.
  • Ambiguously Related: Black Hat Organization's website implied that Dr. Flug and Goldheart are brothers.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Superhero Goldheart. Only a picture or mention of him is enough to piss Flug off. When Flug saw that Miss Heed used him to make Goldheart like her, he freed himself from her Mind Control and become immune to it afterwards.
  • Batman Gambit: Flug figures out how to defeat Sunblast, not by using the hero’s own weaknesses against him, but employing own his teammates’ strengths: 5.0.5 is inept at evil, but a cuddlebug who's incredibly strong and resistant to harm, while Demencia has an easily exploitable Berserk Button regarding Black Hat.
  • Berserk Button:
    • It's implied he cannot stand people who purchase products from the Black Hat Organization and yet continue to fail to defeat heroes - when he learns that Mojo Jojo has never achieved a lasting victory of The Powerpuff Girls, he gets extremely angry.
    • Also, creating you own nemesis. Learning that Mojo was partially responsible for the existence of the Powerpuff Girls leads Flug to capture the chimp and subject him to A Fate Worse Than Death.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's a pretty down to Earth guy, but he's capable of sick and twisted things if you make him angry.
  • Blatant Lies: Flug gives one to Demencia, a glaring example since she was present the whole time and could’ve seen through it had she paid attention to what he was saying.
Flug: He (Sunblast) said Penumbra and Black Hat make a cute couple.
Demencia: (is immediately enraged) and proceeds to give Sunblast a Curb-Stomp Battle)
  • Brains and Brawn: He's revealed to have this dynamic with Demencia in the "Beach City" orientation. He's the brains to Demencia's brawn.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: In "Heedeous Heart" he ends up enthralled by Miss Heed's mind control smoke and is all but outright shown to become her love-struck Dragon, he eventually breaks free of her control when he starts hearing how she was using him to get close to Goldheart.
  • Break the Cutie: In "The Lost Cases Of Townsville", he cries over Mojo Jojo's Backstory.
  • Brought Home the Wrong Kid: In the comic, he and the gang visit the zoo to acquire lizard samples, and back home, he notes Demencia is behaving for a change. Cue a crocodile rampaging in his lab to Flug's quiet nodding and Demencia back at the zoo tearing the lizard exhibit apart.
  • Brown Bag Mask: He wears one over his head, with grey goggles over it. Word of God says that he has a reason for wearing it and the official ask blog states that Black Hat knows what's underneath it. The series proper also shows he's got multiple masks underneath the one shown, ensuring that getting to see his face beneath isn't an easy task.
  • Brutal Honesty: He makes it brutally clear to Black Hot that Black Hat will never see him as an equal or be genuinely proud of him.
  • Bungling Inventor: His inventions can go awry, much to Black Hat's chagrin.
  • Butt-Monkey: Frequently the preferred target of Black Hat's comical abuse, especially in the short where he creates a security grid for his mansion. The series proper also sees him getting abused by damn near everything and everyone, with a lot of characters either harming him physically or humiliating him even when he tries to be serious.
  • Cerebus Call-Back: His hatred towards Goldheart. It's Played for Laughs until episode 6 where it's become important for a plot: Miss Heed fell in love with Goldheart when she was studying in Black Hat's Academy and wanted his attention so she stole a part of Flug's thesis about controlling emotions and became a "heroine" and broke Dr.Flug's heart. When she does it in the present and Flug remembered this and realized that she's using him for Goldheart again he freed from Mind Control and became immune to it. Also Goldheart becomes A Greater-Scope Antagonist of the series.
  • Co-Dragons: With Demencia. Flug is Black Hat's Number Two regarding all scientific endeavors and inventions, and is in charge of training up and coming villains. He even says at one point that they're like Jessie and James.
  • Collector of the Strange: As seen in The Lost Cases of Elmore, he collects real life planes. He does this by using the shrink ray and various small glass domes. Note that he does not remove the passengers from the planes.
  • Complexity Addiction: "The Dreadful Dawn" shows that he has a plan that goes up to at least 26 steps. He seems to cut down on it when he realizes that 5.0.5. and Demencia are both quite dangerous in their own right, letting 5.0.5. capture Sunblast while spurring Demencia to maul him.
  • Cowardly Lion: Word of God is that Flug may be a wimp, but he has the guts to work with somebody like Black Hat. Notably, he is often beaten around by pretty much everything and everyone, but when it comes to the evil department he's legitimately good at it.
  • Creating Life: He is the creator of 5.0.5 and treats him like a loving, doting father would.
  • A Day in the Limelight: He's the main host of the Villainous Orientation mini-series, quickly taking over when Black Hat becomes fed up with the villains making amateur mistakes and decides to leave in lieu of reading the newspaper and playing golf in his office. He's also given a sizable chunk of development, revealing him to be a Not-So-Harmless Villain who can be just as vile as his boss.
  • Deadpan Snarker: It's the only way to survive the job. His choice of partners-in-crime only range from a psychotic madwoman, a gullible cuddle bug to an arrangement of sentient gadgets who rarely follow his orders to the letter. Also, his boss is a sociopathic ubiquitous entity who'll rain injury upon him at the slightest provocation.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After being routinely made fun of by the Narrator over the series, he puts him in carbo-refridgeration for 5 minutes.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Despite allotting strides for BH Organization to be semi-functional, he's rarely thanked any contribution.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones:
    • He acts as a parental figure to 5.0.5, even referring to a drawing of him as "son" in one of his plans, and Word of God says that Flug wants to protect 5.0.5 from Black Hat, which might also play into why 5.0.5 is both bad at being evil and utterly oblivious/ignorant to the true vileness of Black Hat overall.
    • "Heedeous Heart" heavily implies that he had genuine romantic feelings for Miss Heed back in their youth and even as an adult, to the point that he becomes heavily vulnerable to her mind control love smoke. Him discovering that she used him to get close to Goldheart breaks his heart enough that he snaps out of her mind control willingly several times (and eventually becomes immune to it) after he remembered that she used him for Goldheart and realised that she's doing it again.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • He general tries to be respectful toward customers of the Black Hat Organization, especially repeat customers. In 'The Lost Cases Of Townsville', he initially tries to get Black Hat to be less disparaging toward Mojo Jojo, as the latter is a well paying client of the Black Hat Organization. This subsides as the video goes on, though, as Flug increasingly finds himself disgusted by how Mojo continues to fail despite making numerous purchases from the Black Hat Organization. He finally hits the breaking point when he learns that Mojo is directly responsible for the creation of the Powerpuff Girls, and promptly captures the chimp to subject him to A Fate Worse Than Death.
    • After getting Demencia to attack Sunblast by saying the latter shipped Penumbra and Black Hat, even Flug has to look away from the ensuing offscreen beatdown to stop himself from vomiting.
    • He objects to Demencia eating babies and gets her to spit one out when she tries.
    • When Demencia tells him to just watch his favorite show after it has aired, he tells to her that he's a villain, not a pirate.
  • Evil Genius: This is his primary role in Black Hat's inner circle, since he designs the inventions that Black Hat advertises in the first set of shorts. While he may not act all that evil at first, the Orientation mini-series reveals his more sadistic tendencies.
  • Expressive Mask: Flug's paper bag and goggles are so expressive that it might as well be his face, and despite the fact that you never see what he looks like underneath, it's easy to tell what he's feeling. Sometimes you can see the corners of his mouth turn up through the bag when he's happy.
  • The Faceless: Not only is his face always hidden behind a paper bag, but even the personal pictures in his room, presumably of family or friends, also have their faces obscured.
  • Fatherly Scientist: He views his creation 5.0.5 as his son, and 5.0.5 returns the favor by viewing Flug as his father.
  • Freudian Excuse: He was apparently bullied in school (with Nicole Watterson being one of his tormentors). An old group school photo shows him with a trash can on his head, and in the Orientation Q&A video, in response to a question about performing evil acts in school, Flug states he would bring a giant robot to round up all the thugs who used to stuff him in a too-small locker, getting visibly angrier as he explains.
  • Hidden Depths: He appears to have some understanding of emotional states and self-esteem if his words to an imprisoned Miss Heed about how she needs to love herself first before seeking a romantic partner are anything to go by.
  • Hypocritical Humor: In The Lost Cases of Townsville, Flug states that Mojo Jojo's first flaw was involving affection in his villainy. This is interrupted by 5.0.5, who Flug talks to in the same manner a parent would use for a small child.
  • Iron Butt Monkey: He's the biggest target for misfires of many calibers but completely okay despite of it.
  • Irony: Despite being The Brain of the gang and Evil Genius, he's using camera instead of a phone as seen in The Heedeous Heart. In other world, he's the most outdated member of the gang.
  • Kill It with Fire: His rather justified response when the Black Hat-brand Omnitrix, er, backfires on Vilgax.
  • Kindness Button: He often forgoes professional detachment when it comes to defenseless/neglected targets; e.g. ghost children who are harassed by a demolishing nutjob in "Boo-Lldozer!" and Mojo Jojo as he reveals his sadness at being overshadowed by the PPG in the Orientation videos. Considering his backstory, Flug projects hard on those frowned upon by society.
  • Labcoat of Science: He wears a labcoat and is the inventor of the products that Black Hat advertises.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia:
    • He's not entirely sure how long he's been Black Hat's head researcher, only putting it at around 8-10 years; he feels there are times when more or less time has passed, though he chalks a lot of it to his strenous schedule, continuous travels, and most importantly, his regular use of cryonics instead of real sleep.
    • He jokes when asked how he and Demencia arrived at the Organization by saying he arrived by plane and Demencia barefoot... but his research logs confirm he doesn't remember a lot about how he met Demencia or how she joined the Organization (only that he's known her for about 3-5 years), and the moment he tries to write down what little he does remember, the page is damaged, as if by fire. When the notes continue, it turns out he blacked out in the middle of the paragraph, and justifies it as falling asleep... even though he doesn't remember being that tired. Another log outright reveals Demencia was one of his genetics experiments, though the specifics remain elusive.
  • Last-Name Basis: Everyone refers him as Flug; variations including "Doctor", "Doc" or "Dr. Flug", no first name involved. The only one to call him by his real name so far is Miss Heed a.k.a. Cecilia.
  • Made a Slave: He was brainwashed into serving Miss Heed after she doused him with her serum. He only broke out when he walked in on her proclaiming how she was using him to get to Goldheart.
  • Mad Scientist: He may not look or act like it at first glance, but the Orientation mini-series confirms that he is, indeed, as evil as his boss, being willing to perform experiments on another sapient being (said experiments he himself describes as being worse than death), collect shrunken airplanes with the passengers still onboard, and grinding Peridot and Jasper for failing as villains, just to name a few examples.
  • Meaningful Name: His first name is Kenning, which is an Icelandic word, and translates to "theory," and Flugslys, his full last name, translates in Icelandic to "plane crash". Flug also translates to "flight" in German. The man has a drawing of a plane crash on almost all of his shirts, lives in a crashed plane that juts out of the top Black Hat Manor, has a pilot's license, and shoots passenger planes out of the sky with a shrink ray and keeps them in glass globes with the people still inside. When a fan asked Alan Ituriel about the name translations, he said, "He has an obsession".
  • Minion with an F in Evil: Zigzagged. Dr. Flug is very skilled in inventing new gadgets and weaponry for Black Hat, but these devices often come with huge design flaws that wind up bringing much pain to him and his compatriots, such as an extensive home security system that you can't turn off if it happens to activate while you're still outside of it. Also, he believes that the most wicked thing in the world isn't his cruel, murderous (and vaguely demonic) boss, but a sandwich. Sure, with too much mayo on it, but still. On the other hand, he's capable of amoral experimentation and isn't above allowing villains to suffer horrible fates for their failures.
  • Nerd in Evil's Helmet: Gushes over scientific knowledge and inventions, has a knack for mechanics, prefers strategic planning and list-making, and is an aficionado miniature plane collector. Not the obvious hobbies for an unrepentant Card-Carrying Villain.
  • Nerdy Nasalness: Flug has a fairly high-pitched, nasal voice to coincide with his poindexter personality.
  • Non-Action Guy: Flug's strengths lie in his inventions and planning, not direct combat. However, when he decides to cut loose, like under Miss Heed's mind control, he's both skilled and agile, and his machines give him enough of an edge to stalemate Demencia.
  • No-Sell: He became immune to Miss Heed's serum after realizing that she's used him for Goldheart in the past and doing it again.
  • No Social Skills: Unsurprisingly for a Nervous Wreck like him, he doesn't really have people skills. His idea of flirting revolves around planes for instance.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: He may look like a geek with a ridiculous paper bag mask, and he is, but Flug is most certainly villainous to his core. He relishes at the chance of experimenting on Mojo Jojo, then grinds Peridot and Jasper (or similar gems) for their failures as villains. Although some of it is Played for Laughs, the actions alone reveal Flug as a true Mad Scientist.
Dr. Flug: From an evil genius to another, Mojo, I can say this won't kill you... although you will probably wish it would.
  • Number Two: To Black Hat.
  • Only Sane Man: Flug's got his Mad Scientist quirks, but compared to Black Hat and Demencia, he's the sanest of them all.
  • Papa Wolf: He is very protective of 5.0.5 and anyone (except for Blackhat) mistreating, raising their voice, or mishandling stuff he created will get on his bad side.
  • Past Experience Nightmare: Habitual sufferer, to the point he sleeps in a cryobed rather than allow himself normal rest - and even that's not enough to stop it completely.
  • Professional Butt-Kisser: For Black Hat, who's more annoyed than flattered. Little wonder it rarely helps him avoid the pain his boss dishes with clockwork regularity.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: Subverted. He seems to be an average joe who happens to work for a ruthless supervillain, but he's got the guts to work for Black Hat (despite his fear for his boss) and is capable of amoral science experiments. He also seems to genuinely want his boss' approval.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Among the multitude of tasks he's responsible for, he mends Demencia's clothes.
  • Sadist: It's well-hidden, but it's certainly there, and it surfaces when he's about to experiment of Mojo Jojo, and he appears to relish what he's about to do to him.
  • Scary Shiny Glasses:
  • Ship Tease: He and Miss Heed have a history going back to high school where they were each other's Only Friend until the latter decided to steal his thesis and become a hero in order to win the heart of Goldheart. Years later, they both still have lingering feelings for one another which resulted in him being French kissed by Heed.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Downplayed. Working for the most successful supervillain of CN has naturally given Flug a bit of an ego, as evidenced by the narrator's reading of his description, but Black Hat is always there to remind him of his place.
  • Skewed Priorities: In Satellite Secrets, he cares more about seeing the final episode of his favourite show (and not seeing spoilers) than the mission. He even shoots blindly at various screens in V.I.R.U.S.'s satellite because they were showing bits from the episode.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: He's a polite, Nervous Wreck Fatherly Scientist who rarely raises his voice and is the Only Sane Man, but he's also a villain who's capable of being as evil as Black Hat. Especially when he's angry.
  • Speech Impediment: Flug has a faint lisp in the English dub.
  • Strong Girl, Smart Guy: A villainous example with Demencia.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: He and Demencia can barely stand one another in the field due to their clashing approaches to dealing with heroes.
  • The Illegible: When Flug is writing things intended to be read by other people, his handwriting is fine, but when it's for himself, it's absolutely unreadable. The narrator in the Orientation Files, in live action, holds the script that Flug wrote, looking like a swarm of loop and scribbles with maybe one or two visible letters, and comments that he can barely make out what it says, but Flug says that his handwriting is just fine. The production team got the crew member with the worst handwriting to make it.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: When he gets past the faulty security system for the outside of the lair, only to be met with the security system for the inside of the lair, Flug just quietly lies down and assumes a Troubled Fetal Position.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Pancakes, according to Word of God.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: Goes into one when he gets past the outside security system... and encounters the internal one!
  • Villainous Breakdown: He completely breaks into a fear-induced panic attack when Black Hat checks on their progress with Sunblast. Not only had they not dealt with him, he was also tailing them to Hat Island where Black Hat expected the job to be done. Knowing how Black Hat handles failure, Flug has very good reason to panic.
  • Volatile Second Tier Position: Due to his status as Black Hat's Number Two (and the only henchman with scientific and business acumen beyond enforcer work unlike Demencia), the good Doc handles everything from business models to infrastructure. Coupled with holding responsibility should an assignment end in disaster incurring his master's fury, Flug's job is a very stressful one indeed.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: He desperately wants Black Hat's approval, as evidenced by his dreams in the pilot. But since this is Black Hat we're talking about, his dream may be just that.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Dr. Flug and Miss Heed were friends in their youth and it's suggested that he did have feelings for her. They have long since separated after Miss Heed stole his thesis for her powers and despite everything that's happened, Miss Heed still refers to him as "Kenny" and "Fluggy". She also kisses him on the lips instead of the cheek (the latter of which he requested) despite her dislike of being touched. While Flug has every reason to hate her, he just pities her in the end and sincerely hopes that she gets the help she needs for her mental health issues.
  • Would Harm a Senior: Without a hint of hesitation he kicked a few elders (a few older superheroes).
  • Would Hit a Girl: Has no qualms hitting Demencia and other female opponents.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Has no qualms creating devices that would cause bodily harm to children, and casually threatens the KND in "The Lost Cases of the Tree House". Though he seems to draw the line at harming babies and infants.

    Demencia

Demencia

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/demenciatransparent2_9.png
"Pffft, ha! We don't need a silly plan, we just need to kick this guy's super butt!"
Voiced by: Melaney Sems (English, shorts and original pilot only), Cindy Eliz Perez (English, TV series), Melissa Gedeón (Spanish)

Black Hat's biggest Fangirl, much to his chagrin. She's also pretty dang insane, complicating matters even more.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Towards Black Hat. It's pretty clear that he only barely tolerates her presence in his lair, and has no patience for her incessant flirting.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Flug calls her "Dem" throughout the English dub.
  • All Amazons Want Hercules: She’s the team brute and her version of an even more evil Black Hat in “Perception of Evil” is a dark skinned, muscular giant with a brick chin (and only wearing shoes, gloves, hat and boxers).
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Demencia has a gigantic crush on the evil, sadistic, psychopathic, Ax-Crazy and bossy demon that is Black Hat. It's implied that these traits are reasons why she fell in love with him.
  • All Women Are Lustful: Downplayed, considering that this is a mini series airing on Cartoon Network, but she is shown to be fairly perverted around Black Hat. In "The Medusa Device", she rawrs lustfully when she sees a statue of a muscular Black Hat holding her in his arms and in "The Perception of Evil", she is absolutely delighted when she sees a shirtless, extremely muscular version of Black Hat. She then glomps him at the end.
  • Ambiguously Human: She appears mostly human, but she can climb walls like a gecko, has a visibly lizard-like eye and fangs, and can be seen on a blueprint in the lab. She also somehow No-Sells the vacuum of space.
  • Animal Motifs: Reptiles. She has Cute Little Fangs, wears a hood that resembles a horned lizard (with her red bangs forming a "tongue"), she can Wall Crawl like a gecko, and some of her movements are accompanied by a snake-like hissing sound.
  • Ax-Crazy: Her introduction in "The Dreadful Dawn" demonstrates just how far Demencia is off her rocker.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Do not pervert her vision of Black Hat. The Dapura Repulsa flower found this out the hard way when she warped Demencia's perception of Black Hat into an attractive superhero. In a recent Q/A, she also threatens a person who asked if she would like Black Hat as a hero.
    • Also, do not flirt with Black Hat, or imply that another lady would be a good couple with him. When Flug implies that Sunblast ships Penumbra and Black Hat, Demencia dominates the ensuing fight.
  • Bio-Augmentation: She was one of Flug's genetics experiments, with things like inhumanly sharp teeth, extreme Super-Strength, Hammerspace Hair, immunity to toxins, hollow bones, and sticky pads for climbing. Flug also suspects she can switch her vision to UV in one of her eyes at will.
  • Brains and Brawn: She's the brawn to Flug's brains, preferring simple aggression over nitpicky intelligence. This dynamic was prominent in the "Beach City" orientation.
  • The Brute: The Guide for an Evil Conquest orientation reveals her to be Black Hat's best field agent. She also clashes with Flug in The Lost Cases of Beach City, where she explicitly favors the more straightforward aggression of Jasper over Peridot's intelligence.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: As "The Dreadful Dawn" shows, she does not like the idea of any other lady being in Black Hat's orbit.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: So far, her insanity is basically this. It's a stark contrast with Black Hat's temperament.
  • Co-Dragons: With Flug. Demencia is Black Hat's top field agent and most loyal admirer (much to his chagrin). If Flug were Black Hat's right hand, she's the strong arm.
  • Comically Missing the Point: She thinks that her impostor, Domencia is impostor of 5.0.5.
  • Curse Cut Short: At the end of The VVV she is cut short before she can finish saying: "Viva Mexico Ca-"note
  • Cute Little Fangs: Has four of them, but they're not seen when she does her signature toothy grin.
  • Dark Action Girl: And she's proud of it.
  • A Day in the Limelight: She receives some focus in the later Orientation videos, acting as Flug's co-host, much to his dismay.
  • Eats Babies: Well, she certainly tries to eat a baby, but Flug stops her before she was swallow it down.
  • Everyone Has Standards: She's absolutely gaga for Black Hat and is mostly turned on by his temper, but even she will back down and run when he's at his most enraged.
  • Evil Is Petty: She loves torments Flug and 5.0.5. for her own amusement. Even as small as tilting a painting after someone straightening it out when she's nearby it.
  • Expy: She's a dead-ringer for Harley Quinn; both are insane female minions in an obsessive, one-sided "relationship" with their evil boss and are fiercely loyal, regardless of how often they're abused and rejected. Demencia's plight, however, is mostly Played for Laughs.
  • Extreme Omnivore:
    • In the short "Demencia wuz here", she eats a jar of pickles, including the jar itself, although she took the lid off first.
    • The pilot episode has her eating people.
    • In The Tag of "The VVV", she chugs down a flask of some unidentified pink liquid from the fridge in Flug's lab.
    • In "Satellite Secrets", after her Black Hat plushie is nearly sucked out into space, she swallows it to make sure it can never be separated from her again.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Her right eye is larger than her left, as well as being a different color, she wears a striped sleeve and stockings (with the right stocking being ripped), a fingerless glove on her right hand, a thick tracking bangle on one leg, and mismatched shoes (one of which was Flug's).
  • Fiery Redhead: While only the front part of her hair is red, she still qualifies thanks to her loud, crazy and extroverted personality.
  • Genki Girl: She is a hyperactive Perky Female Minion who is just as unpredictable as she is effective at her job.
  • Hellish Pupils: Has vertical snake-like pupils to go along with the rest of her reptile theme.
  • Hero Killer:
  • Hidden Depths:
    • While she is a crazy fangirl, videos like Demencia wuz here and Guide for an Evil Conquest show her to be as efficient as she is demented when it comes to evil activities, like stealing or killing heroes. It would explain why Black Hat keeps her around despite her annoying him so much. So scarily effective is she at combat in fact, that in "The Dreadful Dawn", where as Dr. Flug believed they'd need a special 30+ step plan in order to defeat the sun-powered Flying Brick hero Sunblast, Demencia scoffs at needing something as complex as his plan, and confidently proclaims that all they need to do is beat him up, and that she could do it by herself. This being Demencia, this just sounds like the suicidal boasting of a crazy person. But when Sunblast arrives, and she charges in with zero-planning beyond just getting into a slugging match with the hero, she actually has him on the ropes. Sunblast's disheveled and worn look, while Demencia looks barely bothered implies that if Flug hadn't been insistent on sticking to the plan, and the resulting botched tranq shot that followed, she would've made due on her claims, and beaten him singlehandedly. Flug learns from his mistake and lets Demencia go to town on Sunblast the second time they meet up by lying that Sunblast ships Black Hat and Penumbra.
    • In one of the Orientation videos, a viewer asks a complicated question that requires Flug to do some extremely convoluted math to answer. He busts out an adding machine, Demencia takes out a piece of paper and a pencil, and he starts first. She gets distracted and doodles for a bit before starting, before tossing away the drawing and working out the solution mentally - as in, she doesn't bother writing the intermediary process, using mental math and memory to work out the answer. It takes him a good deal of time to finish, with the calculator tape winding all the way around Flug's head by the time he's finished, and finally he announces his extremely long answer. If you look over to Demencia, she's smugly holding up her paper with the exact same answer on it, which she figured out even faster and using only mental math.
(Q:"How many hatbots would I need to control the galaxy?")
    Dr. Flug's answer: Approximately 1.4 billion, 747 million, 56556e+22
    Demencia's answer: 1,474,750,655,56e+22
    5.0.5's answer: 2.note
    • According to Satellite Secrets, she's learning French.
    • That bangle in her leg is a tracker, which Black Hat ordered Flug to fit her with after several escapes.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: Nobody harms Flug and 5.0.5. except her and Black Hat. She'll guarantee it.
  • Hypocritical Humor: In “The Heedeous Heart”, Demencia calls Miss Heed insane for her attention cravings. Reminder for readers, Demencia is Ax-Crazy and Yandere towards Black Hat and anything related to a possible romance.
  • Ignored Enamored Underling: Exaggerated For Laughs. She's obsessed with Black Hat (her boss and possibly father (it's implied she was created by Flug with BH's help)) and openly declares she loves him, stalking him, etc. but he even more openly shouts that he's apathetic to her ... AT BEST (usually he uses supernatural powers and violence to shoo her off).
  • I'm a Humanitarian: In the pilot she eats Sunblast, almost eats a cheerleader and was implied to have done the same with a captive hero earlier in the episode. Also, the orientation video featuring the KND shows her dressed as It, trying to lure the kids to her with balloons, in a crossover episode, she tries to eat a baby.
  • Immune to Mind Control: She's immune to Miss Heed's love pheromones due to her insanely obsessive love for Black Hat blocking out any other objects of affection. Possibly also applies to Mascara Macabre when she easily removes it after Black Hat telling her to.
  • Inexplicably Awesome: Demencia is somehow able to No-Sell the cold vacuum of space in "Satellite Secrets". Airlock even questions if she is a human.
  • In Love with Your Carnage: The reason she's infatuated with Black Hat.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her villain name seems to be "El Alebrije". Also, in the Spanish version, Dr. Flug calls her "Demensa", a Spanish-word pun on her name, and the Spanish word "Mensa", which means "idiot".
  • Leeroy Jenkins: As "The Dreadful Dawn" shows, Dr. Flug prefers a plan. Demencia, on the other hand, would rather cause chaotic property damage until a hero comes out to fight.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Insanely fast, durable, and strong. When a rival hurls barbells at the base with enough force to punch past the walls, Demencia is strong and fast enough to catch one with a single hand. She's the main muscle of the team for a reason, you know.
  • Mad Eye: This loony girl has a yellow right iris.
  • Maniac Tongue: Demencia's tongue is often hanging out of her mouth, as shown in her picture.
  • Meet My Good Friends Lefty and Righty: Her hands are named Bone Breaker and Nutcracker.
  • The Millstone:
    • She derails pretty much any plan Dr. Flug comes up with. Part of it is just a refusal to pay attention. The other part is Demencia charging into any situation headfirst without caring about the consequences.
    • In the shorts, she frequently interrupts Black Hat's recordings for his newest evil devices and ruins Flug's experiments. She doesn't even have a reason to do most of it, she just does.
  • Monster Fangirl: Towards Black Hat, much to his chagrin.
  • Moral Myopia: She hates when Flug hits her and thinks it's only funny when SHE is the one who beats him.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: Demencia has a rather average build for a young woman, but she can easily carry heavy weaponry without struggle, and goes toe-to-toe with Sunblast, shrugging off his blows and having him on the ropes despite the latter having a Heroic Build.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Her Villain Song states that she's in love with Black Hat because of how insanely evil he is. The Q&A and Repulsive Flower videos show that even the thought of Black Hat being good is enough to send her into an Unstoppable Rage.
  • Noodle Incident: That bangle in her leg is a tracker, which Black Hat ordered Flug to fit her with after several escapes. Although, judging by the comics, Dementia just likes to leave the base for a long time without a word.
  • Not Brainwashed: In "The VVV", she's possessed by Mascara Macabre and easily crushes all her opponents, including Flug. When Black Hat finally comes down to confront her personally, he just orders her to take the mask off, which she immediately does. Her dialogue after removing it implies that she was never really possessed but just using it as an excuse to pound on people.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: She may appear to be just a ravenous fangirl, but she's also a frighteningly efficient minion. In Guide for an Evil Conquest, she calls 5.0.5 from a telephone booth (under a fake identity) to hire the services of the Black Hat Organization, to destroy the hero Heavy Punch. She requests they send their best agent and Black Hat (without knowing she was the client) sent her.
Black Hat: That will be 99 souls and two extremities. Demencia, you have work! Get out of here!
    Demencia: Yes, sir!
  • Perky Female Minion: Demencia tries to be this to Black Hat, but he'd rather prefer her leave his lair and never return. She also serves as the page image.
  • Poke the Poodle: Upon a painting straightening out when she's nearby it, she tilts it again.
  • Prehensile Hair: She can use her hair to snag and whip people.
  • Psychopathic Womanchild: She takes childlike glee in causing mayhem and destruction. The first time she's seen in the pilot, she's acting like an unruly toddler, saying that she's going to stay in her "pajamas", which are really a straightjacket, forever.
  • Punny Name: She's demented, though the phrase "Dementia" also comes to mind, due to the pronunciation.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: She usually loves Black Hat's displays of anger and inhuman transformations. When she recoils in horror is because Black Hat is beyond pissed off.
  • Savage Spiked Weapons: The insane and violent Demencia seems to enjoy smashing things with a spiked mace over any other weapon. Well aside from Bonebreaker and Nutcracker that is.
  • Ship Tease: Incredibly one-sided, with regards to Black Hat. He'd sooner hit the road than accept her presence, let alone her affections.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: She wants Black Hat, and no one else. Dr. Flug weaponizes this in "The Dreadful Dawn," saying that Sunblast said that Penumbra and Black Hat make a cute couple. This made Demencia so angry that she beat the tar out of Sunblast.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The only female in the main cast.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Her official name is Demencia, but Word of God has said that "Dementia" is also valid.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Demencia just won't leave Black Hat alone.
  • Stalking Is Funny if It Is Female After Male: Played With And Justified. Demencia is a Stalker with a Crush to Black Hat and its Played for Laughs. But A) Demencia is a Villain Protagonist and Psychopathic Womanchild; B) Black Hat is a God of Evil and Stalker without a Crush with a Hair-Trigger Temper; and finally C) Demencia's stalking tendencies are NOT considered funny to everyone (especially to Black Hat and Flug (mostly because he gets from Black Hat whose in a fit of rage and from Demencia who annoying him, stealing his inventions, etc.) and she gets punished for it by BH himself (with scream or violence from him).
  • Strong Girl, Smart Guy: A villainous example with Flug.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Demencia's straightforward, aggressive approach to situations conflicts with Flug's complicated planning, which causes a lot bickering between them in the field.
  • Those Two Guys: Hangs out with 5.0.5 quite a bit, though it's mostly to torment and tease him.
  • Tracking Device: There's one on her leg, attached to her left ankle in the form of a giant metal clamp.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: She looks really happy when Black Hat starts suffocating her and Flug with his powers.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Averted, she is in love with Black Hat and determined to date him, but she knows when to run to avoid his wrath.
  • Ultimate Job Security: Downplayed. It's implied Black Hat puts up with her insanity and crush on him because she's his main source of muscle and an effective Hero Killer. But that still doesn't stop him from wishing she'd just go away even if he won't force the issue himself.
  • Wall Crawl: Can scale walls like a gecko and in "Satellite Secrets" her feet are sticky enough that she can resist being sucked out of a punctured space station.
  • Villain Love Song: She breaks into one during the final orientation video after being bombarded with questions about why she's in love with Black Hat. She answers, to the tune of Habanera.
  • Villainesses Want Heroes: Defied SO hard! She finds the idea of Black Hat being a hero completely appalling.
  • Yandere: Has repeatedly shown that her love for Black Hat has given her a propensity for violence.
    • During the "Questionnaire" short, when someone asks Demencia if she'd still love Black Hat if he was a hero, she goes utterly ballistic, demanding to know the name of whoever asked that. It's ambiguous as to whether she was furious because they suggested Black Hat would ever be a hero, or because they had the audacity to question her undying love for Black Hat.
    • Another villainess just being in the same room as Black Hat is enough to trigger Demencia's jealousy. In "The Dreadful Dawn", Demencia crushes her phone at the sight of a picture Penumbra posted on "Instagrim" with Black Hat in the background.

    5.0.5.

5.0.5.

Voiced by: Mark Fischbach (English, Spanish)

A failed attempt at creating a monster that turned out to be a friendly bear-like creature. Needless to say, he also isn't immune to Black Hat's wrath.

  • Actor Allusion:
    • According to Dr. Flug in The Repulsive Flower, 5.0.5 makes reaction videos on the internet.
    • In the Orientation Q&A video, he's shown doing a Let's Play of the official Villainous game "Maldad Mecanica".note
    • In "The VVV" Mascara Macabre tells him that he has a voice of typical youtuber.
  • Actual Pacifist: He cannot stand violence and can hurt others only by imprudence.
  • Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: He is a bear with a blue fur coat.
  • Anti-Villain: He may be a henchman to an evil organization, but 5.0.5 himself is just an adorable, friendly bear who only goes along with his master's evil plans out of a combination of fear of Black Hat and love for his father, Dr. Flug.
  • Bear Hug: 5.0.5 does not understand what Dr. Flug means when he says "cover him". Flug ends up getting a bear hug during a crucial fight against the superhero Sunblast. Later on, Flug catches on and weaponizes it by having 5.0.5 "cover" Sunblast during their rematch.
  • Beary Friendly: He's a quite friendly and harmless bear, much to the chagrin of Black Hat.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Being a bear, he obviously has canines.
  • Cute Mute: He doesn't speak at all, emoting instead through bear-esque noises.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Apparently, even other villains can't resist 5.0.5.'s cuteness.
Demon, while hugging 5.0.5.: "Aww, how cute! Who's the wittle baby? Yes, it's you!"
  • Dog Walks You: A bizarre version. When he and Demencia go out for walkies, it's him who keeps her on a leash... and she's strong enough to drag him anyway.
  • Evil Is One Big, Happy Family: If one of the statues created by him during the Medusa experiment is to go by, he just wants him and his peers to get along.
  • Expy: He is one of Boskov both being good-natured lovable bears part of an evil organization. In Villainous B Hs Bizarre Bad Venture, Boskov is on trial for impersonating him.
  • Gentle Giant: He's big and strong, yet lacks any aggression whatsoever. The premier episode shows that 5.0.5 is strong enough to hold a superhero in his grip with no trouble.
  • The Glomp: His main form of showing sympathy and greeting others is hugging them.
  • Glurge Addict: Greatly enjoys cute things - he sleeps on a massive pile of plushies, reacts positively to being recognized as adorable, and watches kiddie TV.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: According to Black Hat, that is.
  • Intelligible Unintelligible: His roars and gibberish only occasionally sound like words, but even still other characters can understand him. According to the orientation video for Lord Boxman, 5.0.5 used to be able speak normally. Unfortunately, his first word was "Dad"... which he said to Black Hat.
Black Hat: "The first, and LAST word from 5.0.5 was dad! And from that day he has never talked again!"
  • Iron Butt Monkey: Particularly in the comics, which features things like Black Hat spitting a hyper-corrosive acid at his face and Demencia crawling inside him in an attempt to "wear" him like a costume or playing the "loves-me-loves-me-not" game with the flower on his head. In fact, he happens to be so absurdly tough that when Flug uses him to help test shields, the sheer toughness he shows by tanking the blasts convinces the client to purchase him as the shield.
  • Kaiju: Turns into one when Black Hat accidentally enlarged him with a shrinking ray. Black Hat capitalizes on this by marketing 5.0.5 as a giant destructive bear instead.
  • Made of Iron: 5.0.5 is capable of taking an absurd amount of punishment, able to outright ignore things that would kill the average person. Several punches from superhero Sunblast didn't even seem to register to 5.0.5.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: 5.0.5, by his very nature, is also one of these as he's the result of a failed attempt at creating a destructive monster that went the other way.
  • Morality Pet: Presumably to Dr. Flug, given the way he affectionately treats him. Definitely not for Black Hat.
  • Nightmare Face: He's capable of this, but so far, only when in extreme pain.
  • Nice Guy: The only character so far who lacks any evil or jerkass tendencies whatsoever.
  • Nominal Villain: He's a Nice Guy and literally the most kindness thing ever lived. He's only following gang because they're his family, his act of villainy is mostly consist of affectionaly hug others and his personal job in Black Hat Organisation is baking cakes and staff.
  • Non-Dubbed Grunts: His voice is the same in both dubs since all he ever says is bear-like growls and grunting. While there are vague English words under some of his grunts, it's still easy to understand what he means in both English and Spanish.
  • Of Corpse He's Alive: After Flug pumps Demencia full of tranq darts and a question arrives specifically for her, 5.0.5 holds her upright and "answers" with his normal grunting.
  • Punny Name: Might be an oblique pun on the Spanish word for bear, oso - that is, "0-5-0".
  • Sleep Cute: When he snoozes, he's adorable.
  • Team Chef: Has been shown and mentioned making pancakes and muffins for Dr. Flug, and he is the one baking specially made birthday cakes that are ordered by Black Hat Organization members.
  • Those Two Guys: From the looks of it, Demencia hangs out with him the most, though that time is mostly spent bullying and teasing him.
  • Token Good Teammate: The nicest of Black Hat's group. Word of God is that his evilness is in the negative hundreds. This detail gets slight expansion in the Christmas short as the Hat-Bot's scale of evilness settings have two symbols at the top and bottom of the screen. The lowest level of "5.0.5." is marked with the bear's flower while the highest strength of "Almost Black Hat" has the Black Hat logo.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: Likes to wear a maid's outfit when cleaning.

A supervillainess that wants to cover up the sun so it doesn't burn her alive. Constantly thwarted by Sunblast, she turns to the Black Hat organization for help in dealing with him.

  • Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable: Has a habit of putting emphasis on the beginning of sentences rather than the ending of them. Most noticeable when she says Sunburst "just can't be reasoned with," where she pronounces "with" as if she were planning on continuing the thought.
  • Affably Evil: For a villainess who wants to blot out the sun, she's remarkably sweet, polite, and cheerful when not trying to do that. Not only is she friendly to the Black Hat organization, but she also decides to just have a nice, long chat with (what she presumes to be) her shrunken nemesis rather than get revenge on him for all the times he's beaten her up.
  • All for Nothing: Not that she realizes it by the end of the pilot, but thanks to Demencia eating Sunblast, she can't utilize his powers to create a cure for her condition. Which means she just sold her soul to Black Hat for nothing. Averted in her Character Blog where it is shown that Sunblast is eventually sent to her by Dr. Flug. From that point onward he shows up in almost all of her entries.
  • Anti-Villain: She's very sympathetic for a supervillain, due to the fact that she only wants to blot out the sun because sunlight can kill her, and her nemesis is just an overgrown bully who only works as a superhero so he can beat people up for fun. She's even willing to give up on blotting out the sun when presented with an opportunity to just reverse-engineer Sunblast's powers to cure her own condition. Her Character Blog makes it very clear that, though she is considered a supervillainess by the general public, she really isn't a bad person. She promotes climate change acknowledgement, recycling and bullying awareness, and is frequently shown helping out fellow Umbras. Even her illegal actions are shown to be born of out good intentions, breaking into a lab to save an animal that was being experimented on and trying to modify her machine to try and stop wildfires, respectively. Though she may technically operate on the wrong side of the law, and occasionally attend Mad Scientist Expos, it is clear that her heart is in the right place.
  • A Sinister Clue: She's left-handed, and is, at least, nominally a villain.
  • Bald of Evil: Subverted - Penumbra is bald (with her "hair" actually being some kind of shadow she controls), but she isn't a truly villainous person and abandons villainy altogether once an easier path to her goals is opened up.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She usually very cheerful and friendly but try to attack her and you'll be very sorry. Only Miss Heed and Sunblast managed to beat her.
  • Brainwashed:She is eventually found by Miss Heed and suffers this fate by her hands. She is freed from it after Flug and Demencia stop Heed.
  • Casting a Shadow: In contrast to Sunblast's sun-based powers.
  • Character Blog: She has her own instagram account, which is actually a Defictionalization of her "instagrim" account.
  • Child Prodigy: She got into university at 15 years old.
  • Corporate-Sponsored Superhero: A villainous example. She was a sponsored by the Parasol Society- an organization dedicated to the rights of the numbra. That is until she badly beat up the Numbra superhero, Jonathan Guerrero, alias Albedo, and they found out she was keeping Sunblast (who by then had gone through huge Character Development) around, which made them cut all ties with her.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Before her villain career, she was an inspiring young scientist who wanted to help the environment through her project "The Environmental Glacier Protector Cloud". However, the machine she made malfunctioned and caused a dark cloud to form which transformed her and 10% of the population into Numbras. This caused her as a result to resolve to fix what she believes was her mistake even at extreme measures.
  • Deal with the Devil: After Black Hat's organization helps her deal with Sunblast, she signs a contract apparently giving Black Hat her soul.
  • Elemental Hair Composition: Her hair is made of shadow and is translucent enough to see her scalp under it.
  • Excessive Evil Eyeshadow: Wears dark purple eyeshadow, Contrasting with her very pale skin and eyes.
  • Expy: Of Dr.Horrible. She's an anti villainous Mad Scientist who has to put up with an arrogant "hero" antagonist and ends up joining the most prominent villainous organization in her world and they both appear in villain centric stories
  • Failed a Spot Check: She doesn't notice when Sunblast tries to escape his containment, prompting Demencia to eat him. Nor when Dr. Flug tries to cover for this by replacing the devoured Sunblast with a light bulb. She mentions on her Instagram account that she tends to miss a lot of details and may need glasses.
  • Find the Cure!: Part of her reason for wanting Sublast captured is so she can use his powers to reverse-engineer a cure for her condition and others.
  • Friendly Enemy: One-sided with Sunblast. While the latter enjoys beating her up and acts like a jackass to her, Penumbra seemingly doesn't hold a grudge against him. She'd rather explain her motives than fight and when she has him at her mercy, the only "punishment" she gives him is finishing her earlier motive rant.
  • Granola Girl: She is very environmentally and health conscious. In her blog, she is shown practicing environmental friendly choices like avoiding using excessive plastic and growing her own garden for food. In fact, one of the things that alerts Sunblast to her being brainwashed is the fact that she is shown drinking a Feez-O with Miss Heed which he states she would never touch that junk.
  • Labcoat of Science and Medicine: She wears this as part of her costume, along with past the elbow-length gloves.
  • Living Shadow: She's first seen wrapped in darkness before Sunblast grabs her, causing it to melt away to expose her face.
  • Made a Slave: She was brainwashed into serving Heed on her science team and broke out of her hypnotism by attacking Curie and Sunblast under the influence of the serum.
  • Mad Scientist: She's draped in a long laboratory coat, and built a machine to block out sunlight.
  • Missing Mom: Her mother died when she was in her teens and dearly misses her.
  • Official Couple: The final chapter of "Little Rescue" make it official she and Sunblast love each other.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: The thing that tips Sunblast off she's been brainwashed is the fact she is shown willing drinking a Freez-O with Miss Heed when he knows she's a health nut would never dream of touching that kind of junkfood.
  • Perky Goth: Despite her dark and eerie aesthetic, she's shown to be nothing but friendly, attempts to blot out the sun aside.
  • Polite Villains, Rude Heroes: The Polite Villain to Sunblast's Rude Hero.
  • The Night That Never Ends: She wants to invoke this because of her adverse reaction to sunlight.
  • Secret Identity: Her real name is Penelope Numan Braxton.
  • Steven Ulysses Perhero: Look at her real name again. Penelope Numan Braxton....
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: Penumbra finds out about Atreno's project "The New Dawn", which not only is done to replace Sunblast, but also paints her as even more of a villain than she is by twisting certain tales of her defending herself against heroes who attack her unprovoked. She gets so upset that she blogs "If they want a villain I’ll show them a villain." Her later blogs have her fighting and beating any heroes that come after her. However, when the last hero she defeat is revealed to be an Numbra, she becomes mortified
  • Tragic Villain: Really she's only trying to block out the sun because otherwise she runs the risk of being burned alive by sunlight.
  • Weakened by the Light: Penumbra is easily burned by sunlight, which is why she wants to cover up the sun... or, failing that, find a cure for her condition.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: A mild example. A Freeze-Frame Bonus in the pilot shows that other people in her city also suffer from her condition where sunlight is lethal to them. Others with her condition, as well as those sympathetic to them, are shown protesting her treatment at the hands of Sunblast, claiming Penumbra's done "nothing wrong". She also seems popular on "Instagrim".
  • Villainous Cheekbones: Has pretty prominent high cheekbones.

    Metauro

"Can I go see my family now?"
Voiced by: Diego Valenzuela (Spanish)

A professional villain infused with bull DNA and a client of the Black Hat Organization.

  • Affably Evil: This guy is very kind, helpful, loves his family ... when he's not committing crimes.
  • All There in the Manual: Much of his background can be viewed through decryption files on the Black Hat Organization's website.
  • Brutish Bulls: His gimmick in a nutshell.
  • The Cameo: He makes a brief appearance in "The Lost Cases of Boxmore". It turns out that he was blackmailed into it because the Organization held his family hostage and threatened to kill them if he didn't comply.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: In spite of being a terrorist responsible for the deaths of at least a hundred people, he greatly cares about his family, something Black Hat exploits to make him pay off his debts. Notably, when Flug puts a thousand Hatcoin bounty on whoever can rip Mascara Macabre off Demencia's, he's explicitly doing it for his family.
  • Genius Bruiser: While you wouldn't think it at first glance, he is actually very knowledgeable about genetics. He even wrote a book about it.
  • I Have Your Wife: Black Hat is holding Metauro's entire family hostage to force him to pay off his debts, and is threatening to have them all killed if he doesn't do what he says.
  • Malevolent Masked Men: He's a supervillain with a bull-themed mask.
  • Super-Strength: He's got a lot of muscle on him, which lends to his incredible strength.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Back when he was a normal human, he stood in front of a bull run in a misguided attempt to protest such events. If not for the chemicals that were used to save his life, he'd be dead.
  • Work Off the Debt: He took out a loan from Black Hat with the promise to pay them back in the future. Of course, Black Hat decides to collect by having Metauro's family kidnapped and used against him to force his hand.

Emilia
Emilia voiced by: Jackie Rodriguez (English); Lourdes Arruti (Spanish)
Norb voiced by: Miguel Ángel Ruiz (Spanish)
Larry voiced by: Sahid Pabon (English); Betzabé Jara (Spanish)
A group of children's ghosts who live in a Haunted House.
  • Anti-Villain: While they scare the daylights out of trespassers, it's mostly to keep people from disturbing their home, and they only turn to the Organization to save their house from Bulldozer.
  • The Cameo: Emilia briefly appears in the third episode, "The VVV" as one of the many ghosts Black Hat unleashes to frighten Flug.
  • Children Are Innocent: They're all incredibly sweet when they're not actively scaring people.
  • Creepy Child: They purposely enforce this trope, both for fun and to scare away intruders so that they can live peacefully.
  • Expy:
    • Emilia's design is mostly one of Sadako, but her features and mannerisms are also reminiscent of Froppy, and her status as a Cute Ghost Girl with a typical Mexican attitude and vernacular who serves as a Team Mom for the spirits in a haunted house also harkens back to Xóchitl from Las Leyendas.
    • Larry, the only one among the kids able to possess things and people (it's unclear if he was ever actually human), is introduced inhabiting an Annabelle-like doll.
  • Half the Woman She Used to Be: A blink-and-you'll-miss-it few frames as she sways around reveal that Emilia's bottom half ends in a cross-section. One of the paintings in the background implies that this was done to her by a train.
  • Happily Adopted: They are happily adopted by the ghost villainess, Mother Poltergeist.
  • Idiot Hair: Emilia has two permanently upright strands of hair on the back of her head. While she's not shown to be necessarily dumb, she and the other ghost children are highly pessimistic and reliant on outside help when faced with the extraordinary situation of someone they can't scare.
  • Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl: Emilia has this aesthetic down.
  • Undead Child: They are ghosts, after all.

Dark Phantom's sidekick.
  • Affably Evil: He is willing to let Penumbra stay with him and Dark Phantom and has a good relationship with his master.
  • An Arm and a Leg: He's seen to have lost one of his ears after dealing with Black Hat
  • Brainwashed: He becomes one of Heed's mindless followers and breaks out when Demencia streams the latter kissing Flug.
  • The Everyman: He's like the most normal villain in the series.
  • Eyes Out of Sight: His hair covers his eyes most of the time. This becomes significant when it hides the fact that he was under Miss Heed's influence when he went to Black Hat.
  • The Reliable One: Shows the capacity to remain level-headed even in situations where his boss gives in to panic, as seen in the opening to "The Heedeous Heart" when he has to take the initiative to contact Black Hat.

A rookie level archer villain who uses a lot of the Black Hat Organization's services.

  • A Day In The Lime Light: She is featured in a comic miniseries where she and Mawarasite are the main protagonists.
  • Butt-Monkey: She often is the butt of jokes due to her bad luck or misfortune.

    Coyote

Coyote/Brian Z. Romero

Voiced by: Diego Valenzuela (Spanish)
A nuclear zombie villain who is the archenemy of the hero, Omega Nuclear, and was brainwashed by Miss Heed into becoming one of her guard dogs.
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: He is named Coyote but he has atomic superpowers instead of anything to do with his namesake, except perhaps his claws, fangs, and sense of smell.
  • Arch-Enemy: He is this to Omega Nuclear and Miss Heed made it seem that he patched things up with him when she really just brainwashed to do her bidding and to look good in front of her followers.
  • Atomic Superpower: He has the ability to absorb vast amounts of radiation in order to keep himself alive.
  • Cruel Coyotes: He is a villain named after the aforementioned creature.
  • Brainwashed: He was brainwashed by Miss Heed into being one of her minions alongside Omega.
  • Dark Is Evil: He looks like a stereotypical biker with a black Hellbent For Leather get up.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After being brainwashed as her lapdog for an entire year, when he's finally freed from Miss Heed's control he gangs up on her with the other villains, heroes, and civilians she brainwashed.
  • Enemy Mine: After being unbrainwashed, he teams up with the heroes and his archenemy, Omega Nuclear, to get back at Miss Heed for enslaving them.
  • Evil Is Bigger: He is slightly bigger than his heroic nemesis, Omega Nuclear.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Even though he doesn't speak on-screen, he does bellow deep, animalistic growls.
  • Expy: He is modeled after Lobo in aesthetic and also shares the fact that they are both named after a canine.
  • Fangs Are Evil: He has sports some big ones which goes with his Obviously Evil look.
  • Femme Fatalons: Rare Male Example. He sports deadly black claws.
  • Hellbent For Leather: He sports a leatherjacket to go with his Obviously Evil look.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: He and Omega were unwilling examples to Miss Heed.
  • Latino Is Brown: Averted. He's pale skinned and has completely white eyes which probably has to do with his status as a zombie.
  • Made a Slave: He is brainwashed by Miss Heed to become one of her bodyguards alongside Omega, while also being treated like a servant. Once he breaks out of Heed's spell he automatically goes to get payback for the humiliation and indignity he had to go through.
  • Metalhead: He's a villain with the stereotypical look of one and is even called one by Sunblast.
  • Monochromatic Eyes: His eyes are completely white, which probably has to do with the fact that he's a zombie.
  • The Nose Knows: One of the comic panels shows he can sniff out targets (which is probably a shout out to Lobo's, who he's inspired by, excellent sense of smell).
  • Nuclear Mutant: He is called a nuclear zombie and needs to absorb tons of nuclear power in order to stay alive, which is why he clashes with Omega Nuclear and is attracted to his designated city.
  • Obviously Evil: With his pale skin, dark, leather coat with spikes, claws, and black boots, you can look without guessing he's a villain.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: He apparently is said to be nuclear zombie who absorbs greats amount of radiation to stay alive which is why he tends to attach himself to Omega Nuclear and his home city.
  • Shout-Out: His surname is a reference to the late George A. Romero, who was the creator of the Living Dead Series, which codified the modern perception of zombies.
  • Super-Strength: He is strong and is able to take great amounts of hits which is why he was made into one of Heed's bodyguards.
  • Those Two Guys: Served as this alongside his archenemy Omega Nuclear when they were brainwashed into being her attack dogs.
  • The Voiceless: Doesn't get any lines in his first animated appearance (the most he does is growls and grunts), since he's a brainwashed minion and just gives Heed a silent Death Glare when he alongside many others confront her for mind controlling them. However, the final issue of "Little Rescue" has him utter the word "Heed" showing his burning hatred for the woman who enslaved him.

  • Mad Scientist: He is a noted mad scientist in the villain community.

  • Our Werebeasts Are Different: A weredog that can transform between her human and humanoid dog form.

    Don Porccini

Don Porcinni/Don Adolfo Porccini

Voiced by: None
A mutated humanoid pig gangster who hires Illuminarrow and Mawarsite to free Heed for him.
  • Dirty Old Man: He seeming at first is seen as this when Valdoom mentions he was Heed's first follower and seemingly is getting revenge on her for kissing Heed and spurning his affections. This turns out to be false and it was really him taking orders from her father to watch her and he was actually apart of a plan to have her name cleared from brainwashing people.
  • The Don: He is the head of a gang of genetically engineered swine.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: He tries to pull one through working with PEACE to frame villains for trying to attack Heed and make it seem like she was wrongfully convicted for brainwashing people just so he could become a hero. However, the narrative shows he's not doing it for moral reasons, but because he could get the perks of being a hero without really acting like one.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: For willing working with PEACE to get out villainy and framing other villains, he is smited by one of Black Hat's enforcers for breaking his deal with him.
  • Pig Man: He's a genetically engineered anthropomorphic pig.
  • The Mole: As it turns out, he actually hired rookie level villains including Illuminarrow and Mawarsite to free Heed so that he could frame them as attacking her as a set up for getting her reputation back and in exchange he becomes a hero.
  • Sinister Swine: He's an evil Pig Man who is a member of the Black Hat Organization and a gangster, while secretly working with PEACE as The Mole to frame villains as trying to attack Miss Heed so that he in return can become a hero and leave the villain life.
  • Was Once a Man: He used to be a regular human until he was transformed by experiments by his former boss, Don Jones. Or that is what the publicly known story goes, and he is implied to have from the start made a deal with Black Hat to get more power.

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: He has red skin with no confirmation if he's human, another species, mutated, or even transformed into another species.
  • Ambiguously Human: With his red skin color, it calls into question his status as a human being or even he could even be a demon.
  • The Casanova: He has the Baraja ninjas all over him.
  • The Don: He is the head of the Baraja family and runs a casino as a cover business.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Even though he's a ruthless gangster, he still doesn't approve of cheating.

  • Noble Demon: Despite being ruthless, he does show has good qualities like disliking those who cheat, hates those who lack any honor, and compensates the girls for busting Don Porccini.

6.0.6.
Doctor Flex voiced by: Roly Gutierrez (English); José Macías (Spanish)
Dolencia voiced by: Connie Fernandez (English); Melissa Gedeón (Spanish)
Look-alikes of Flug and Demencia (as well as a cactus standing for 5.0.5.) who work for Black Hot.
  • Adaptation Name Change: Dolencia was renamed to "Violencia" in the English dub.
  • All Amazons Want Hercules: Dolencia is as obsessed with Black Hot as Demencia is with the genuine article.
  • Ambiguous Situation: It's not clear if they're creations of Black Hot made specifically to rival the original Black Hat Organization, or if they're just weirdly similar-looking henchmen who work for him.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: 6.0.6. is seemingly just an ordinary cactus, but appears to be capable of movement offscreen and is shown to be surprisingly dangerous with it.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Flex and Dolencia are Large Ham body builders and 6.0.6. is a cactus, but they prove to be a physical challenge for Black Hat's crew and have successfully defeated many strong heroes.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Despite their eccentricities, they have a high success rate against heroes whose main attribute is physical strength.
  • Co-Dragons: To Black Hot.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: They're extremely effective at taking down heroes who rely on brute strength, but fare poorly against a fast and/or intelligent opponent. All it takes is Flug switching opponents on them for the counterparts to be taken out. Demencia's speed wears Flex to exhaustion, 5.0.5.'s flower triggers Dolencia's crippling allergies, and Flug merely kicks 6.0.6. over, but gets a foot full of cactus thorns for his trouble.
  • Dumb Muscle: While stronger than their counterparts, their brawn evidently dwarfs their brains. This doesn't factor too much when they're going up against meat-head heroes who rely on brute strength, but bites them hard when pitted against an intelligent opponent who can figure out their weaknesses, which is exactly what Flug does.
  • Effective Knockoff: While Flex and Dolencia are Dumb Muscle, 6.0.6. is actually dangerous compared to the harmless 5.0.5., being the one to spring Black Hot's trap on the crew and stow away on their ship at the end without being detected.
  • Expressive Hair: Dolencia's hair isn't prehensile like Demencia's, but it is shown constantly holding in the form of a flexing bicep.
  • Idiosyncrazy: They only target bodybuilders and Super-Strength based heroes.
  • His Name Really Is "Barkeep": Flex's first name really is "Doctor".
  • Muscles Are Meaningful: Dr. Flex and Dolencia are buff and much stronger than their originals but much slower (as in speed as in brain power).
  • Punny Name: Doctor Flex due to him flexing his muscles a lot, Dolencia from the Latin "dolēns" meaning "hurting, suffering, or in pain" ("Violencia" in the English dub clearly comes from "violence"), and 6.0.6. has a double-meaning pun in that not only is it similar to 5.0.5. but the second 6 is written backward, making it appear to be two flexing arms attached to a spherical body.
  • Similar Squad: They're knock-offs of the original team, though 6.0.6. doesn't resemble 5.0.5. at all due to being a cactus.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Domencia has an allergy to flowers (and therefore to 5.0.5).
    • When swapping enemies, Demencia gets Dr. Flex, Flug's double. While he's far stronger than Flug, Demencia wins by restraining him to the point he can't flex, causing him to explode from the sheer pressure.

P.E.A.C.E. Agency

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/peace_6.jpg
For Safety, For Justice, For PEACE
The P.E.A.C.E. Agency, also known as Men without hats, is a law-enforcement organization who appear to be behind the heroes fought by the Black Hat Organization.
  • Celebrity Superhero: The superheroes have a huge celebrity presence with the big namers having social media accounts surrounding their heroic personas, tv show appearances/ads, invites to social events, and corporate sponsors. Others like El Valiante and Bicep are movie stars, while Miss Heed was an influencer.
  • Failed a Spot Check: They failed to notice the increasingly obvious signs that Miss Heed's brainwashing both civilians and her fellow heroes alike.
  • Fun with Acronyms: Although it's not revealed what their name stands for.
  • Hero Antagonist: In a series that follows villains, they're naturally the antagonistic force that opposes them. The "hero" part is a little muddied with some of its members, however.
  • Hero of the Week: Since the show follows Villain Protagonists, it's a given that their weekly exploits involve dealing with these guys, in addition to rival villains.
  • Heroes "R" Us: Whether they're the employers of the heroes, a league of heroes, or a mix, they're the main antagonistic group to the Black Hat Organization.
  • Nominal Hero: A recurring trend with the heroes is that many of them aren't all that heroic. Sunblast is a Jerkass bully who beats up villains for fun and lets them go to do it again, Airlock is an Ax-Crazy extortionist who's as likely to threaten her employers as she is the villains, and Miss Heed brainwashes people into loving her with a cult-like influence.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: At first it would seem their shady methods and tendency to hire questionable heroes are all in the name of stopping evil (especially Black Hat), however, as time goes on it shows that organization on the inside is no different than the villains they are supposed to stand up to. They have been shown numerous times to view their heroes as expendable, focus more on exploiting and profiting on their heroes rather than them actually being heroic, won't even try to help them if they been controlled like El Valiante with Mascara Macabra, have no minds about experimenting on minors like Miss Heed when she was a teenager, doing business with mafia bosses in order to do a frame up so one of their own corrupt heroines could be set free and act like she was framed for her crimes.
  • Super Team: As is the usual case with superhero groups, but they don't appear all that heroic upon closer inspection.

    Sunblast

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sunblastpng.png

Voiced by: Roly Gutierrez (English; redubbed pilot), Herschel "IV" Hatcher (English; original pilot), Yuri Chessman (Spanish)

A superhero who is Penumbra's Arch-Enemy.

  • Anti-Hero: Despite his classically heroic motif and good publicity, Sunblast is also a Jerk Jock who would rather let a villain go so he could beat them up again. In fact, getting praise and beating up people he dislikes seem to be the main reasons for his super heroics.
  • Asshole Victim: Considering his entries under The Bully, Good Is Not Nice, and Politically Incorrect Hero, one could be forgiven for not being too freaked out by his ultimate fate. He gets better, though.
  • Blood Knight: He outright tells Penumbra that the only reason he hasn't thrown her in jail is because he enjoys beating her up.
  • The Bully: Part of why he lets Penumbra go is because he enjoys beating her up. And then there's his reaction to the scrawny Dr. Flug, where he attempts to deliver a super-powered beatdown to him before he even realizes he's a supervillain.
Sunblast: A nerd?! I. HATE. NERDS!!
  • The Cameo: He, along with Penumbra's pet rat Curie, make a background appearance in The Heedeous Heart.
  • Character Development: He warms up to Penumbra during his time as her "captive", showing legitimate empathy for her pain and eventually setting off to save her from Ms. Heed when she ends up brainwashed by the latter with some assistance from her pet mouse. And ends up falling in love with her along the way.
  • Chick Magnet: Implied, one of the cheerleaders have hearts for eyes the moment he shows up.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: On the receiving end of two from Demencia, and only "won" the first time because Flug accidentally tranquilized her. The second beating was so bad, it occurred offscreen and if Flug's reactions are anything to go by, it's better that way.
  • Elemental Punch: His primary use of his solar powers is to wrap his fist in concentrated sunlight and pound things with it.
  • Eye Beams: He is revealed to have these when he lights Penumbra's birthday candles.
  • Flying Brick: His solar powers aside, his main thing seems to be flying, hitting things really hard, and tanking the things that try and hit him back.
  • Glory Hound: Other than getting the opportunity to beat up people he dislikes, his other major motive for super heroics appears to be basking in the praise of the public. After tracking Black Hat's minions to his lair, he flat out admits that no one knew him until he moved to Atreno, and he's not about to lose his popularity just because Penumbra "and a few wimps can't handle a little sunburn".
  • Good Is Not Nice: He's a popular superhero, but acts like a Jerk Jock.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Subverted. He's a blond-haired superhero, but also serves as an example of Good Is Not Nice. Though he becomes a little nicer during his time as Penumbra's "prisoner".
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Downplayed like with Penumbra. While many citizens of Atreno idolize him to the point where he's an icon around the city, graffiti can be seen in the background demonizing him for the suffering he causes to those who share Penumbra's vulnerability to sunlight.
  • Heroic Build: Sunblast has the physique of a bodybuilder and is a superhero.
  • It's All About Me: Sunblast's worldview is centered around him. His superheroics are for the fame and his benefit, and he can't be bothered to actually arrest the criminals, opting to just let them go and use them as punching bags again later on. He has zero empathy for Penumbra and those afflicted her condition, prioritizing his own image over their suffering. He grows out of this during his time as her captive, gradually coming to care about Penumbra and her plight.
  • Jerk Jock: He comes off as one in spirit if not technically. He's a superhero beloved by the public who enjoys using his skills to beat up people he doesn't like, like "nerds".
  • Lack of Empathy: He knows perfectly well that Penumbra and others suffering from her condition can die from sunlight, but doesn't give a damn, saying he's not about to lose his popularity for their benefit. He does begin to grow some for Penumbra during his time as a captive of Penumbra.
  • Light Is Not Good: Technically, it is, but enjoys beating up supervillains so much, he'd rather let them go free (and thus have another chance to terrorize civilians) instead of turning them over to the authorities.
  • Loved by All: Zig Zagging, the vast majority of the inhabitants of his city adore him, they even have commercials for a clothing line dedicated to him. To those like Penumbra who get burned by the sun, he's hugely unpopular, but the rest of the population doesn't care much about them.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: According to Alan Ituriel, Mexican singer Luis Miguel, who was nicknamed El Sol de México (The Sun of Mexico), was an influence on Sunblast's design.
  • Nominal Hero: He only ever thwarts villains because of the fame and recognition, and even then he always lets them go so he can beat them up again later. He also has a startling Lack of Empathy for those suffering from Penumbra's lethal skin condition, believing his own popularity is more important than them.
  • Odd Friendship: In the Instagram posts he eventually becomes good friends with Penumbra despite being her former bully and having opposite personalities.
  • Official Couple: The final chapter of "Little Rescue" make it official he and Penumbra love each other.
  • Oh, Crap!: His reaction to Demencia charging him for round two is to silently sweat bullets.
  • Pet the Dog: He gives Penumbra a photo of her mother for a Christmas gift as shown through her Instagram. And eventually starts turning nicer with more and more of these moments, including comforting her over her status and inability to go out into the light.
  • The Power of the Sun: In contrast to Penumbra's shadow-based powers.
  • Polite Villains, Rude Heroes: The Rude Hero to Penumbra's Polite Villain.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: It almost veers into villain territory. He enjoys beating up female supervillains and "nerds," and calls people who shares Penumbra's lethal vulnerability to sunlight, "a bunch of wimps who can't handle a little sunburn".
  • Primary-Color Champion: His costume includes blue and yellow.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: While he has a heroic appearance, his motivation (the desire to hurt people) and demeanor (snide and calling people nerds) make him more like a hormone-addled bully rather than a mature hero.
  • Punch-Clock Hero: While it's true he thwarts supervillains, he doesn't do it to save innocents. He just enjoys being able to beat people up and being applauded for it by the masses. He doesn't even bother to arrest villains so he can just hurt them more later on.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Despite how much he warms up to Penumbra when she has him captive, he still is upset over no longer being the hero of Atreno, and becomes angry when he finds out that they plan to look for a replacement for him. When they opt to move forward with it, he completely loses it and starts throwing stuff around.
  • Smug Super: He has all the power expected of a superhero but none of the maturity or integrity one would expect, instead acting more like a bully who uses his superpowers to beat up those he doesn't like for fame.
  • Super-Strength: Part of his power set. It's not enough to escape one of 5.0.5's bear hugs, however.
  • Swallowed Whole: After he's shrunk down, Demencia eats him whole. Remarkably, he lives through this.
  • Tempting Fate: Having gotten the advantage over Demencia in their first fight, he openly mocks her for thinking round two will turn out any different. Cue Flug suggesting to Demencia that Sunblast ships Penumbra and Black Hat...
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Sunblast's time in Penbumbra's captivity seems to be causing him to soften up to her if her instagram blogs are anything to go by as while he starts off bullying her rat Curie and being uncooperative, he makes an agreement to work with her in hopes of changing back, he starts becoming nicer to Curie, and he even starts to develop some actual respect for his former enemy (even comforting her when she unknowingly hurts an Umbra in self-defense). Although Penumbra is aware that he still misses being the hero of Atreno despite how much he has changed. Culminating in him setting off to save her from Ms. Heed once Penumbra ends up brainwashed by the heroine with some help of Penumbra's pet mouse. When she is finally freed after Heed's defeat he is seen celebrating along with Curie and Penumbra on her Instagram post.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: His actions can come off as more villainous than heroic and many citizens of Atreno idolize him with the exception of those who share Penumbra's vulnerability to sunlight.
  • Would Hit a Girl: His heroic image doesn't stop him from pummeling Penumbra or Demencia - though, in some fairness to him, Penumbra was trying to blot out the sun, and Demencia was terrorizing his city. Plus Demencia hit him first.

  • Good Is Not Dumb: In "BH’s Bizarre Bad-Venture", she prioritizes keeping citizens safe, instead of engaging with who she believes to be a member of the Black Organization and someone who was clearly out of her league.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Not exactly hair, but she has hair-like shape, with bangs and a puffy ponytail, in the part of her body where hair would usually be. They're as gold as her heart (in all meaning of this word).
  • Nice Girl: She's a genuinely nice and caring individual that tries to help people like a proper hero.
  • Punny Name: "G-Lo" is a play on the word "jell-o".
  • Rubber Man: She has super stretchy limbs thanks to being basically living jell-o.
  • Rude Hero, Nice Sidekick: Comes across as a lot more humble and good-natured than most of the 'A-Lister' heroes seen in the show, including Bicep.
  • Shrinking Violet: Can come off as a bit shy, especially when compared to the more boisterous Bicep.
  • Slime Girl: She's a superhero who is basically living jell-o.
  • Token Good Teammate: Notable for being one of the few genuinely altruistic heroes in the series.
  • Visual Pun: She literally has a heart of gold.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Her gelatinous composition allows her to change her body at will.

    Goldheart

Goldheart / Herbert Leth

Voiced by: Oliver Roberts (English; original pilot) and Edson Matus (Spanish)
A Superhero who was Dr. Flug's rival during high school.
  • Ambiguously Related: Black Hat Organization's website implied that Goldheart is actually an older brother of Dr. Flug.
  • Arch-Enemy: Dr. Flug considers him to be this.
  • Big Good: Black Hat Organization's website implied that Goldheart is the head of P.E.A.C.E.
  • Heart Symbol: As the name would imply, he wears hearts as part of his hero costume.
  • Hunk: He has a muscular build which is likely one of the reasons why Miss Heed is attracted to him.
  • Jerk Jock: Implied to have been one to Dr. Flug in their youth.
  • Light Is Good: His costume is gold and white and he seems to be a Nice Guy unlike most of the other "heroes" in the show.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Dr. Flug comically despises him, even having a dream where he vaporizes him. When Flug sees him on television, he gets grumpy.

    Bulldozer

Voiced by: David Steel (English), Diego Valenzuela (Spanish)
A Superhero with a wrecking ball for a hand who claims to fear nothing. He was hired to demolish a haunted house.
  • An Arm and a Leg: He lost a hand and had it replaced with a wrecking ball he named "Berry"
  • And Call Him "George": He accidentally killed a cat by petting it with his wrecking ball arm.
  • Beard of Evil: He is more misguided than evil, but he has a large bush beard. In the flashbacks where he was far nicer than his present self he had Perma-Stubble instead.
  • Companion Cube: He often talks to the wrecking ball he named Betty that has a face drawn on it.
  • Friend to All Living Things: In his flashbacks he he is seen saving several woodland creatures from a drill and they are seen embracing him. He also tried to pet a bear though he ended up losing his hand in the process and later on is shown to have accidentally killed a cat by trying to pet it with his wrecking ball hand.
  • Hidden Depths: His flashbacks show he was an Elegant Classical Musician and can (or at least could) play harp very well.
  • I Was Quite a Looker: His flashbacks show he was a very handsome man before he lost his hand.
  • Meaningful Name: His last name is "Debuilder" and his hero name is "Bulldozer". This is perfect for the guy who loves to demolish things.
    • His name is also a pun on the iconic children's animated character, Bob the Builder, whom is also a construction worker.
  • Obliviously Evil: He wants to destroy the possessed house that he mistakenly thinks is evil.
  • Super-Strength: His main power, being able to walk through walls without issue and crush stuff.
  • Super-Toughness: He is durable enough to stick his hand in lava and tank damage.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: His flashbacks show he was a lot happier and cheerful before he lost his hand.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: He unfortunately suffers from Arkoudaphobia (The Fear Of Bears), since one bit his hand off. This psychotic fear of bears is so bad that even the cutest 5.0.5 and the Bear Brothers terrify him by being bears alone.

    Ringworm

Ringworm / Jordan Edmund

Voiced by: Sean Davis (English); Stephan Schoer Silva (Spanish)
A Superhero renowned for purging the city of Regencyr of the ogres that once inhabited it, with the power to create and manipulate rings of pure light.
  • Anti-Hero: Although he's treated as a regular hero and has the attributes of one, his purging of the ogres from Regencyr could be seen as morally questionable, especially in Penumbra's blog where she, Curie, and Sunblast visit the city after they leave Atreno and she notes how much the place has been deforested over time.
  • Bit-Part Good Guys: He appears at the beginning of "Boo!ldoze" and is just a nuisance to Flug, Demencia and 5.0.5.
  • Curb-Stomp Cushion: He gives a little displeasure to Demencia and Dr. Flug ... until he was distracted by 505 and Demencia knocked him out with one hit then.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: On paper it doesn't sound like his power is anything to write home about, until you see him in action where he uses his power to fly, bind his enemies, and blast them. He managed to hold off against Demencia and Dr. Flug until he got distracted by 5.0.5's cuteness and the former knocked him out.
  • Holy Halo: As stated above, he can create rings of pure light.
  • Meaningful Name: He has ringworm all over his body.
  • Squishy Wizard: Although his power is more formidable than it looks, he has the physical strength of a regular guy and can easily can get knocked out if he's not paying attention.

    El Valiente

El Valiente / Pedro Rodriguez Villa

Voiced by: Jose Aparicio (English); Humberto Velez (Spanish) (under Mascara Macabre's control), Guillermo Coria (Spanish)
A former luchador hero and renowned actor that was taken over by Mascara Macabre.
  • Demonic Possession: Happens to El Valiente when he is taken over by Mascara Macabre
  • Expy: Of El Santo. Most clearly shown in Adelita's flashback montage, where he is shown in monochrome scenes battling various monsters, just as in the B-Movies that served as the episode's inspiration.
  • Happily Married: Him and Adelita Guerrero.
  • Token Good Teammate: Appears to be one of the few genuinely good heroes in the series.

    Airlock

Commander Airlock / Amanda Hamilton Weaver

Click to see her without her helmet
Voiced by: Jinon Deebs (English; unmasked), Doug Turkel (English; masked); Rebecca Patino (Spanish)
The commander of the Space Forces of P.E.A.C.E.
  • Arm Cannon: One of her arms doubles as this, which can also shoot out white paste used to cover holes.
  • Ax-Crazy: Near the end she claims she will kill Flug and Demencia for her pleasure and starts foaming at the mouth.
  • Boyish Short Hair: She has military short hair, which matches her gruff personality.
  • Can't Take Criticism: When a man criticizes her work, she threatens him with an Arm Cannon and steals his wallet.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: Of Samus Aran from Metroid Franchise. While Samus is an Anti-Hero in her worst moments and usually The Hero, Friend to All Living Things, etc., Airlock is a Nominal Hero at best and usually Ax-Crazy.
  • Helmets Are Hardly Heroic: She's introduced wearing a helmet, but ditches it shortly after arriving at the satellite. She's hardly heroic herself.
  • Nominal Hero: She's a bounty hunter that robs people that criticize her and murders people who annoy her.
  • Samus Is a Girl: She is first introduced in full armor with a voice modulator that makes her sound like a man. She later takes off her helmet revealing she is a woman. She even looks like Samus, especially with the Arm Cannon, and her color scheme is poetically that of Dark Samus.
  • Sanity Slippage: She quickly starts losing it after enduring Flug and Demencia's shenanigans for too long, to the point she'd rather drift aimlessly in the vacuum of space than stay on the satellite with them.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: Would rather drift out into space than spend another minute with Flug and Demencia.

    Omega Nuclear

Omega Nuclear/Todd Kirby

Voiced by: None
A superhero who was a partner of Miss Heed and from Atom City. He alongside his archenemy, Coyote, were made into her main attack dogs. He has nuclear powers which grant him agility, strength, flight, and endurance.
  • Atomic Superpower: He has nuclear powers which grant him multiple powers like energy blasts, agility, strength, flight, and endurance.
  • Brainwashed: Just like his archenemy, Coyote, he's brainwashed into doing Miss Heed's bidding even though he was supposed to be her partner.
  • Blue Is Heroic: His color theme is blue and is he is one of the few genuinely good superheroes in the setting.
  • The Cape: Ironically despite not wearing a cape himself, he is a classic example of one when he's not mind controlled by Heed.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After being brainwashed as her lapdog for an entire year, when he's finally freed from Miss Heed's control he gangs up on her with the other heroes, villains, and civilians she brainwashed.
  • Enemy Mine: After being unbrainwashed, he teams up with his archenemy, Coyote, and other heroes to get back at Miss Heed for enslaving them.
  • Flying Brick: Alongside his atomic powers, he also has the classic standard powers like agility, strength, flight, and endurance.
  • Friend to All Children: As shown in the pictures around Atom City, he has this image.
  • Heroic Build: Like Sunblast, he's a superhero who sports a bodybuilder physique.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: He and Coyote were unwilling examples to Miss Heed, although for the former he actually had a friendly partnership with her until she decided to brainwash him into being a mindless slave.
  • ShoutOut: His surname is a shoutout to the legendary comic book creator, Jack Kirby.
  • Made a Slave: Just like his archnemesis, Coyote, he's brainwashed into being Miss Heed's bodyguard and servant. After he gets unbrainwashed, he confronts her with the other villains and heroes for taking advantage of them.
  • Nice Guy: From what we have seen from him in many imagery, he seems like a good hearted hero who wants to save people for the right reasons and was even friendly with Miss Heed before she brainwashed him and she was revealed as a manipulator
  • Perpetual Frowner: He was this during the time he was brainwashed under Heed, except when he was mindlessly fawning over her.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Before Heed brainwashed him, he was always sporting a smile.
  • Super-Strength: One of his many powers and a reason why he was made into Heed's bodyguard.
  • Tender Tears: He cries after breaking free of Miss Heed's control and she tries to brainwash him over again.
  • Those Two Guys: He serves as this alongside his archenemy, Coyote, when he was brainwashed into being a minion of Miss Heed.
  • Token Good Teammate: He's one of the genuinely good superheroes in the setting and his worst actions happened due to being brainwashed by Miss Heed.
  • Top-Heavy Guy: Fitting for a stereotypical hero like him, he sports this body structure.
  • We Used to Be Friends: She and him used to be partners (with her blatantly calling him a friend), until she brainwashed him and used him as her attack dog. When he is finally freed from being mind controlled and she blows the serum again to make him obey her again he just sheds Tender Tears as if feeling betrayed.
  • The Voiceless: He doesn't talk in his first animated appearance, and after he's released from Heed's control he just silently cries after she tried to mind control him again.

    Cricket

Cricket

Voiced by: None
An Argentinian superhero with a cricket theme who has super strength in his legs, allowing him to jump great distances. PEACE provided him with an exo-skeleton to enhance his abilities.
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: He is named Cricket due to his leaping powers.
  • In a Single Bound: Due to have super strength in his legs, he can jump really high.
  • Latino Is Brown: Averted. Accurate to his status as being from Argentina, he's shown as being light skinned due to the fact that the population is made of majority European descent.
  • Sizeshifter: His super suit also gives him the ability to shrink, which he uses to chase after Sunblast, Curie, and Dr. Mauser Jr.
  • Uncertain Doom: We don't see what happened to him in Noctis after his confrontation with Rex. It's still up in the air if he's dead or just mia due to being beaten up by the villains there.

    The Coach

The Coach

Voiced by: None
An agent of PEACE that coaches superheroes when they first get their powers.

    Agent Kimura

Agent Kimura

Voiced by: None
An agent of PEACE who works under the Coach.
  • Badass Normal: She's a regular agent but she's trained to combat super folks.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: She believes Sunblast has pulled a Face–Heel Turn after he attacked the Coach (only out of self-defense).
  • Failed a Spot Check: She doesn't notice that The Coach has been brainwashed by Miss Heed and is sporting pink eyes.

    Captain Estrada

Eugenia Estrada

Voiced by: None

The head security officer of the facility that Miss Heed's kept.

  • Dirty Cop: She only pretended to be drugged by Bloodhound and let the villains get the key, so that they all could be trapped by PEACE when they tried to free Miss Heed from the rehabilitation center. She also didn't mind Don Porccini trying to kill Mawarasite and Illuminarrow when they found out that he was working with PEACE to become a hero.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: She pretended to be ignorant of the plot to get her key when she really was in a set up for a bunch of rookie villains to be captured by PEACE (with the help of Don Porccini) so that Miss Heed could be cleared of brainwashing people.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: She loves lemonade.

    Anana Pina

Anana Pina

Voiced by: None

Miss Heed's agent and manager who works for her father.

  • Manipulative Bitch: She is shown to be able to manipulate a criminal like Porccini into working for PEACE so that her client's daughter could get free from her charges in exchange for him getting to be a hero, but later is shown she wasn't going to keep her promise and arrest him as well.
  • Punny Name: Both her first name and surname means "pineapple". She is even designed to look like one.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Despite being Heed's manager and agent, they both have a hostile relationship due to Miss Heed being such a spoiled Womanchild who demands to get everything her way.
  • You Have Out Lived Your Usefulness: Once King Cassino finds out about Porccini's deal with PEACE she tells Captain Estrada to arrest him along with the rest since he was no longer useful to their plans.

    Twin Shadow

Twin Shadow/Dolly Crowd

Voiced by: None

A heroine with the ability to create clones of herself who works in Marin City.

  • Big Eater: Due to having the ability to clone herself, she is mentioned being a menace to buffets.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: She wasn't in on the plan that PEACE was doing with Porccini and as a result is ignorant about how corrupt Captain Eugenia is.
  • Me's a Crowd: Has the ability to make eleven clones of herself that is based on different emotions.
  • Token Good Teammate: She seems to actually be a good heroine and is ignorant to how corrupt PEACE truly is.

Click here to see her without makeup
Voiced by: Katie Clavelo (English), Cristina Hernández (Spanish)
A superheroine and influencer revealed on Alan Ituriel's Instagram and TikTok. She is set to release her own perfume called "Suivez Moi".
  • Achilles' Heel: Because of an imperfect formula, Miss Heed's Mind Control pheromones only work if her target already has some admiration for her, and the effect is only temporary. Demencia No Sells her power because of her overwhelming infatuation with Black Hat and Flug becomes immune after he realizes she's only using him to get to Goldheart and his love for her shatters. This later extends to all of her followers when they see her kissing Flug, breaking all of their hearts.
  • Affectionate Nickname: She likes to call Dr. Flug, "Fluggy" and "Kenny". Although this does show her condescending attitude as she only sees Flug as an amusing and useful pet, instead of a person with real feelings. This may not be entirely accurate however, as during the climax she offers and then follows through with a real kiss, blushing just as hard as Flug the entire duration. It may be that she has deeper feelings for the good doctor than he or even she knows.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: When Flug sees her suffering Sanity Slippage in prison, he feels sorry for her and tells her she needs to learn to love herself first and that she'll get the help she desperately needs there.
  • All Take and No Give: Miss Heed has this dynamic with anyone she's formed friendships/relationships with, especially Flug. She takes advantage of them to the point she will even brainwash them into being her mindless love slaves that will do anything she commands, but never returns the love and attention she constantly demands.
  • Alpha Bitch: She plays like one, given her pride in her appearance and her constant need to be at the center of attention. One Instagram commenter compares her to someone who collects "ugly" friends to make herself look attractive.
  • Attention Whore: She craves constant attention and validation and will do anything to get it, brainwashing included.
  • Bad Influencer: She's a corrupt superheroine and influencer who uses brainwashing to make people worship and serve her.
  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: Her superhero outfit and many other civilian outfits show off her midriff to emphasize her femininity and sex appeal.
  • Berserk Button: She doesn't like being reminded of her past and is furious when she sees an old picture of herself.
  • Bilingual Bonus: The name of her perfume, "Suivez Moi", translates to "Follow Me" in French, befitting both her brainwashing-esque powers and need for online followers.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: On the surface, she appears to be a friendly, if flirtatious heroine dedicated to stopping evil and she certainly wants you to believe that, but she's really a selfish Attention Whore who brainwashes people into mindless sycophants to bolster her ego and gain the perks of heroism.
  • Black-and-White Insanity: Her method of "reforming" villains is to brainwash them. The series shows that this extends to her followers and fellow heroes, as well.
  • Blessed with Suck: Before she gained control of her powers, she nearly drained herself of all fluids and died of dehydration.
  • Bright Is Not Good: Even though she clads herself in a bright pink outfit with a heart motif, she is a selfish Attention Whore who only cares about the fame and attention that being a superheroine brings her and is willing to brainwash and use people to do so.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Although she has the brains to pull off manipulative schemes, she doesn't put the effort to fully utilize her powers beyond just brainwashing people with an incomplete formula, doesn't have the skill to be a mad scientist because she lacks the talent and patience, and cares more about being loved rather than being an effective superhero.
  • Character Blog: She has one instagram account.
  • Cheery Pink: She pink obsessed heroine whose public persona is usually very cheery and upbeat, but in private is more nefarious than she appears.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Whether you are a villain, hero, or even civilian, there is no one Miss Heed won't use and betray by backstabbing and brainwashing them into a mindless follower that worships the ground she walks on. This is even worse for people who she considers her friends, including Flug who she has betrayed twice in order to impress Goldheart. The first time was when she stole his thesis to become a heroine and the second time when years later when she wanted him to make a complete version of her brainwashing formula, then walked on her admitting she was using him to get to his nemesis' love.
  • Corporate-Sponsored Superhero: She has a sponsorship from Freez-O, a company who makes slushy drinks. She later gets endorsed by the Parasol Society, which formerly endorsed Penumbra until she attacked the umbra hero, Albedo.
  • Creative Sterility: Although she was clever for combining her brainwashing serum with her vaporizing powers to make herself a force to contend with, she isn't creative enough to make other types of formulas or use other types of liquids that could utilize her powers to it's fullest potential and becomes a one trick pony who relies too heavily on always drugging people to be her slaves and make them do all the fighting. It doesn't help she can't even make a complete one due to the fact she stole it from Flug's thesis and even has to lure him out to help her make it. It bites her in the butt when all the people who were brainwashed become immune to her serum and she has nothing to stop them from getting revenge on her.
  • Crocodile Tears: Miss Heed often pretends to be deeply offended and upset about something in order to gain sympathy from her followers. These turn into real tears when she realizes her powers don't work on her followers anymore.
  • Deconstructive Parody: Of misleading and controlling female Twitch streamers.
  • Defecting for Love: She left the path of villainy to become a heroine due to her crush on Goldheart. However, this is deconstructed due to the fact that she never really morally changed and as a result acts like a villainess playing hero who is willing to brainwash people to do her bidding.
  • Desperately Craves Affection: Her desire for control has less to do with general ownership and more to do with surrounding herself with people who will constantly admire and validate her, as she evidently has little love for herself.
  • Devil in Plain Sight: It's obvious to anyone with a keen eye that Miss Heed is hypnotizing people into being her brainwashed followers, but no one notices the strange eyes that people sport after getting doused with her perfume.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: Her instagram account's records implied she'd be a major villain in the series, but she's really a Villain of the Week at the first season's mid-point and her introduction actually sets up Goldheart to be a chief antagonist.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?:
    • Her brainwashing of her followers, fellows heroes, and villains are eerily similar to a cult.
    • The perfume she uses to brainwash people is similar to an aphrodisiac.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": When Flug refers to her by her real name, Cecilia, she snaps not to call her that, implying she doesn't think highly of who she used to be.
  • Dye Hard: When in prison, the pink in her hair can be seen starting to wash out back to brunette. invoked
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: One of her main motivations is to get the superhero Goldheart to love her.
  • Evil Hero: Even though she switched to the hero side, she at heart is still a villainess and it shows through the way she is willing to brainwash people into being her love slaves.
  • Evil Is Petty: She brainwashed many people, including many heroes and villains. Why? Because she wants attention and wants Goldheart to fall in love with her.
  • Excessive Evil Eyeshadow: She has heart makeup over her eyes.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Fitting in with her motif, she has hearts for pupils. However, she has normal pupils in prison so it's implied to be contact lenses.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: She built her reputation of being good on taking down villains and "reforming them". When in reality she just used her powers to brainwash them into being her slaves and even would mind control other heroes to fumble so she could look better in comparison.
  • False Friend: She seemed to be close to Flug back in high school until she fell for Goldheart and stole his thesis to become a superheroine. She is also this to any superheroes she gets close to.
  • Faux Action Girl: In-universe, on her Instagram she presents herself as getting into physical tussles with villains and appearing to subdue them. However, in actuality, she relies heavily on her formula and then lets her brainwashed followers do all the fighting for her.
  • Faux Affably Evil: She acts flirtatious but it's only to manipulate others.
  • First-Name Basis: She refers to Flug by his first name, Kenning.
  • Hated by All: She becomes this after everyone she's brainwashed is freed from her mind control and catches onto her agenda, which for an Attention Whore like her is a Fate Worse than Death.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: She might have ditched being a villain to become a hero, but she still has the morals of one and only did it to get to her crush, Goldheart.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Her only superpower is evaporating liquids. Only with special serum invented by Dr. Flug, she can brainwash people (albeit if target has a little affection of her). Lampshaded by Heed herself.
  • Heart Symbol: Wears hearts on her top and headphones, and has heart makeup over her eyes.
  • Heel–Face Brainwashing: During her time as a superhero she regularly brainwashed villains in order to make it seem like she redeemed them, as seen with Chimera and Coyote. It is also shown she brainwashes her fans in this post. Penumbra becomes one of her victims. The same thing happens to Flug in Heedeous Heart, though he manages to break free of it due to learning that Heed was using him all along.
  • Hoist by Her Own Petard: Flug and Demencia use her own cambot in their set up to unbrainwash her followers by getting her to break their hearts by showing she favored Flug out of them all.
  • Hypocrite:
    • After Flug and Demencia expose her to her own followers, she accuses Flug of using her, completely ignoring that she was using him to get to Goldheart.
    • In her Q&A on Instagram, she replies that even if a villain were to reform they wouldn't be able to fall in love with a hero since some things will never change. She doesn't follow this statement herself since she was once a student at Black Hat Institute and left being a villain behind and became a heroine to win Goldheart's heart.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: At her core, Miss Heed craves the love and approval of others, and surrounds herself with brainwashed followers to fuel this desire, but Flug poignantly notes that Heed needs to learn to love herself first.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Ever since she was a teenager, Miss Heed has always wanted to stand out and be special which is why she tried got into evil science so she could develop something that could make her be seen, but didn't have the patience or diligence to do so until Flug helped her and she became the second best in the class. It's another reason why she stole Flug's thesis to make her formula so she could get recognized as a heroine and get praised for something she didn't put the work into making.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: At the heart of Miss Heed's character, she's a lonely woman with crippling self-esteem that copes by brainwashing others into adoring her. Her Sanity Slippage when they all turn on her shows that without the admiration of others, she's left a broken mess because her self-validation comes exclusively from exterior sources rather than herself.
  • In Love with Love: Her Yandere tendencies towards Goldheart (and maybe somewhat Flug) is just another craving for attention: it's shallow and just for the sake of it.
  • I Resemble That Remark!: Played For Drama. After Flug tells her she needs to learn to love herself, she starts ranting when he calls her by her real name, Cecelia, heavily implying she doesn't want to be reminded of what she used to be.
  • It's All About Me: Being a vapid Attention Whore with brainwashing powers, it comes as no surprise that Heed has this mindset. Everyone is a mindless slave who should worship the ground she walks on; heroes, villains, and even the people she ostensibly protects.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: After getting away with numerous acts of brainwashing scot-free and being lauded as a hero on her social media accounts, “The Heedeous Heart” ends with the brainwashed heroes and villains all snapping out of her control, Heed losing all of her followers and being exposed as the fraud that she really is, and getting sent away to a maximum security prison where she is slowly losing her mind. However, this later gets subverted when her father sets up a plan with Don Porccini, her agent, and the top heads of PEACE to make sure it seems she was framed for her crimes.
  • Knight of Cerebus: While ultimately another Villain of the Week who's dealt with by the end of her episode, Miss Heed is treated with a degree of seriousness previous antagonists haven't by being a personal figure from Flug's past. Her introduction also sets up Goldheart, Flug's Arch-Enemy, as a long-running plot element and future antagonist.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Her M.O. is using people by playing on their emotions for her own gain, so her being used by Flug, someone she manipulated and even stole from years ago, is probably the best example of poetic justice in the series thus far.
  • Loved by All: As a superheroine, she was adored by the public and had people singing her praises, which partially has to do with the serum which made people into her love slaves and her side occupation as an online influencer. However, all of that goes away once everyone is freed from her control after seeing her kiss Flug in front of them, and they finally confront her for her actions.
  • Love Hungry: She wants to be loved so much that she brainwashed practically everyone who she met.
  • Love Is in the Air: Miss Heed uses a hypnotic serum by vaporizing it and blowing it into her victims'face. It works on all genders/sexes and even can affect inorganic beings like robots.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Is very flirtatious, has a Rouge the Bat-like outfit and posted this picture of her sexily posing by a window. Several of her TikToks even revolve around flirty dance routines.
  • Nice Character, Mean Actor: Her on-screen persona might appear to be a happy go lucky flirty superheroine that wants to stop evil and help society, when in reality she's a selfish Attention Whore who cares only about the attention and perks she gets and is willing to brainwash anyone to do so.
  • Nothing Nice About Sugar and Spice: She's a hyper feminine superheroine who saturates herself in pink and heart motifs in her wardrobe and personal belongings. She is also a false heroine who brainwashes villains, fellow heroes, and even citizens into worshiping her and has taken advantage of her former friend, Flug, twice in order get her crush, Goldheart's love.
  • Pink Is Erotic: Miss Heed's all-pink appearance ties in with; her seductive personality, her midriff-baring and figure-accentuating outfit that emphasises her sensuous appeal, and she has the ability to control peoples' minds through the pink pheromones of her perfume (which are akin to an aphrodisiac/date rape drug).
  • Pink Means Feminine: Wears primarily pink and has pink skin & hair.
  • Playing the Victim Card: In order to get support from her brainwashed followers, she uses a sob story so they would defend her honor.
  • Projectile Kiss: How she typically drugs her victims as her power turns the perfume in her wrist into a mist that she can then direct with a blown kiss.
  • Proud Beauty: She likes to show off her appearance in her social media.
  • Psychopathic Womanchild: She behaves like a bratty, self-centered teenager, demanding love and attention while not returning it. Not to mention crying when she doesn't get her way.
  • Psycho Pink: She is a corrupt pink clad superheroine who brainwashes people into being her followers and minions.
  • Pubescent Braces: She wore them when she studied in Black Hat's Academy.
  • Replacement Goldfish: She becomes one for Atreno following Sunblast getting captured by Penumbra. A post on Penumbra's blog indicates she may have gotten the job by brainwashing the mayor into giving it to her when three other candidates were to fight Penumbra for it.
  • Rich Bitch: In Risky Heist, we find out her family is rich and that her father is wealthy enough to find a way to get her out of the rehabilitation center by framing dozens of villains with the help of Don Porccini. And in general her behavior certainly shows her to be immature, entitled, and snobby.
  • Sanity Slippage: After losing all of her followers and being sent to a maximum security prison, she devolves into a broken mess that desperately craves any form of attention, writing on the walls of her cell while muttering to herself for people to love her.
  • Sexy Santa Dress: She wears one in a TikTok post.
  • Ship Tease: It is hinted she still has feelings for Flug to the point she even french kisses him, even though she's trying to win Goldheart's love.
  • The Sociopath: She ticks many of the boxes attributed to real-life sociopaths. She's very deceptive and projects the image of a good person, she's conscious of what other people think of her to an unhealthy degree, she lacks remorse over brainwashing countless people into sycophantic slaves, has no qualms using and exploiting others for her own benefit, and while she has some attachment for Goldheart and maybe even Flug, she still treats them more like things she's entitled to than people.
  • Squishy Wizard: Miss Heed's evaporation powers allows her to liquidate her hypnotizing formula and gain many followers (including powerful heroes and villains) who are willing to fight for her. However, when her victims were able to break free of her control by getting their hearts broken (thus becoming immune to being mind controlled again), they were able to easily overwhelm her since she wasn't as much of a physical fighter.
  • Super Wrist-Gadget: Downplayed, her bracelets merely hold her mind-control perfume, while a cord extends from them under her wrists to her palms to assist her power.
  • Tautological Templar: This is how she justified stealing Dr. Flug's thesis and brainwashing people.
Miss Heed: "I'm a heroine, Fluggy. I don't steal stuff. Unless your heart counts".
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: She buttheads with her agent and manager, Anana Pina, due to how spoiled and demanding.
  • Tragic Villain: Peeling back the brainwashing Attention Whore mask reveals her to be a deeply insecure person who uses social media as a coping mechanism for her greater mental issues. Even Flug, the one she manipulated and abused the most, and has more reason to hate her than everyone else, just pities her in the end.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: Flug helped her get better as a student in evil science when she was struggling (and even got her to be the second best in the class), and in return she stole his thesis to pass off as her own work to make her incomplete formula and become a heroine to impress her crush, Goldheart.
  • Vanity Is Feminine: She is one of the most feminine characters on the show and is super into showing off physique and fashion in her blog and video posts.
  • Villainesses Want Heroes: In her official debut episode it is shown that, while she craves affection from everyone, the only person she truly loves back is Goldheart.
    • If the kiss she gave him and their initials in her cell are anything to go by, her affection towards Flug may be genuine to some degree, despite having used him in order to get to Goldheart.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Although she was celebrated as a popular superhero (and pretended to be one of her followers), she actually cared more about the attention and perks that came with the job and was willing to brainwash people (villain, heroes, and civilians) into being her devoted fanbase. Of course, once Flug, Demencia, and 505 break her spell on her followers the people are finally able to see her for the fraud that she is.
  • Wasted Beauty: She is a popular heroine because of her beauty and sexiness, however, underneath her public persona she's self-centered Attention Whore who brainwashes people to worship and serve her. Those who don't fall under her spell like Sunblast and Demencia have nothing but animosity due to her true unpleasant personality and how she brainwashed those close to them. When everyone is unbrainwashed this view is shared by everyone except Flug who has pity for her.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Despite not being a physical powerhouse, she is very adept at using her vaporizing powers in combination with her incomplete serum to make anyone who encounters become her loyal slave.
  • We Used to Be Friends: She and Dr. Flug were friends in their youth and it's suggested that he did have feelings for her but they have long since separated after Miss Heed stole his thesis for her powers. Despite everything that's happened, Miss Heed still refers to him as Kenny and Fluggy, while also kissing him on the lips instead of the cheek (the latter of which he requested). While Flug has every reason to hate her, he just pities her in the end and sincerely hopes that she gets the help she needs for her mental health issues.
  • Wicked Heart Symbol: She has a strong heart motif in her costume, which deceptively covers up her true nature.
  • Yandere: She is obsessed with Goldheart and wants to use her powers to permanently make him love her.
  • Your Makeup Is Running: After being defeated by Demencia, Miss Heed's eyeliner starts to smear after crawling out of a tank of perfume, and it runs more when she begins crying Crocodile Tears to try to garner sympathy from the other heroes and villains.
  • Your Princess Is in Another Castle!: Miss Heed has 23 houses. When Sunblast breaks into one of them to save Penumbra, he finds this out and realizes that he got the wrong house and will have to keep searching.
