Extracurricular Course Students

Kagayaku Mirai (Shining Future)

    Akira Maita

Ultimate Wannabe (Temporary), Reserve Course Student

Forbidden Action/Lock: Martyr Lock - If someone doesn't die within four days of receiving the keycollar with this lock, the wearer will die.

"We will not stop until Ultimate Despair burns to ashes at our feet. Blood for blood, that's how this is going to end."

The main character and hero of Ultimate Danganronpa 3: Despair's Final Challenge. He is a Reserve Course student from Hope's Peak Academy. He was a part of the Reserve Course Class 77-B, and was previously a classmate of Hajime Hinata.

He is an Original Character of the fanfiction's writer, "Maestro Infinite".

  • Affectionate Nickname: Beigoma calls him "Kira Onii-chan".
  • All-Loving Hero: He is kind, smart, and humble, 'and' he is the main character of the story.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: He suffers this with the other Reserve Course Students by a number of the Ultimate Students and Hope's Peak Academy faculty members.
  • Amateur Sleuth: He may be a normal teen, but he's starting to develop into a good detective. Much like Makoto Naegi and Hajime Hinata before him.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Akira accepted Hope's Peak Academy's offer to join in the Extracurricular Course because he wanted to find what makes him special and different from other people. Well... he will find that out when he DOES become a different person at the end of the Mutual Killing Game, as said by Mukuro.
Akira: They promised me a chance to find out who I really want to be. A chance for me to find out just what makes me so special and sets me apart from others.
(Akira attempts to head to the gymnasium, where the other students are gathering.)
Mukuro: (Calls to Akira) We're never going to get out of here you know? This is the end of our old way of living. It's just like you wanted, you will become someone different, just not the kind of person you want to be.
  • The Big Damn Kiss: He gives Nodaka one in order to calm her down from committing suicide.
  • Boom, Headshot!: This is how he finishes his fights in the "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" system.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Perhaps it is because he seems to be inside yet another virtual reality, based on the hints given thus far, but, played for laughs, he was able to see the subtitle translations to Connie and Keiko's French conversations. Even funnier, he was the only one who saw those subtitles. So it's not surprising that everyone thought Akira was under the weather for saying that.
  • Break the Cutie: He and most of his classmates of the Extracurricular Course suffers this when they learn that the world practically ended by a Despair-obsessed cult, many people want them to kill each other and despair, their love ones are either dead or a Despair-obsessed psychopath, they have been gone for seven years and lost seven years worth of memories, and a whole lot more.
    • Happened before the game: Witnessing the Tragedy was enough to break him and make him resort to wanting to get revenge on all the Ultimate Despairs. Don't believe me? He went as far as to cut Nagito's hand off!
    • Then there's the Despair Event Horizon.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: For the Class Trials. He inherited some phrases and skills from Makoto and Hajime to help break through weakpoints.
    • Catchphrase: However, he also have a couple original phrases and skills of his own. You can check them out in the "Quotes" Section of the TV Tropes' "Ultimate Danganronpa 3".
  • Character Tics: The running gag with him is his sweat drop scenes during comedic events.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: He was made class representative in his Reserve Course class because, to everyone else in his class, he seemed like a responsible guy with nothing better to do. This fact becomes important for the first Class Trial when Akira questioned the fake Hajime Hinata on who was the male class representative in their class, only for the fake Hajime to claim that he has forgotten, despite the fact that Akira and Hajime were both nominated for that position because they were both part of the go-home club and didn't have anything better to do otherwise (and Akira beat Hajime by one vote, too).
  • Chekhov's Skill: He mentions in his first introduction in "Prologue, Part 1" that his one redeeming quality was that he was a dreamer, making him a strong believer in the impossible. In addition, Hajime would also point out that Akira would daydream a lot during his classes in the Reserve Course. Even The Creator Maestro Infinite commented in "Chapter 1, Part 9" that Akira is a daydreamer and his mind would wander a lot as seen in the first Class Trial. Akira's daydreaming quality becomes important for the game's "Delusion Mode": Monokuma created a dream realm for the students to be mentally tortured by remembering their dead classmates after they have died in the previous murder/Class Trial. However, because Akira is a constant daydreamer, he is able to take control of the dream realm so that he can interact with the dead students like they were normally alive, making it possible for Akira to have "Free Time Events" with his deceased friends. Maestro Infinite confirms this in "Chapter 1, Part 9", way before this event would start off.
  • Childhood Friends / Childhood Friend Romance: With Nodaka.
  • Cycle of Revenge: Akira is being pulled into one by getting revenge on the Mastermind (plus all the Ultimate Despairs) for killing the other Ultimate students, including Hajime Hinata. And the Mastermind is in turn getting revenge on 'him', along with countless other people in the Hope's Peak Academy saga for some currently unknown crime!
  • Despair Event Horizon: Finding out that if no one dies in four days, he'll be killed by his keycollar. And it followed up with remembering how he killed someone during the Tragedy. It turns out he was an Ultimate Despair at some point.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Or in this case, did you just slap Mukuro Ikusaba, the Ultimate Soldier, while doing a Get a Hold of Yourself, Woman! moment?
  • Does Not Like Spam: According to his Character Profile in Maestro Infinite's Home Page (in the Fanfiction.net), Akira Maita doesn't like broccoli.
  • Everybody Hates Mathematics: During his first introduction in "Prologue, Part 1" he confesses that though his grades are decent, he struggles in mathematics.
  • Expy: Though probably coincidental and by chance, Akira's short blue hair that drooped down into one band that went over his left eyes slightly and his matching blue eyes makes his face similar to that of Kiri Hyoryu from "Future Card Buddyfight". So it won't be surprising if Future Card Buddyfight fans imagine Akira to look like an older version of Kiri.
  • First Kiss: Mukuro at first appeared to have stolen Akira's first kiss. However, it turned out that Akira's first kiss was with Nodaka, when they were kids.
  • Foil: He is this to Makoto Naegi. The two are the main character of their respective stories, and are ordinary teens with no specialties or uniqueness. However, other than being the only protagonist without an ahoge, Akira is much more emotional vulnerable than Makoto. While Makoto is an optimist who never gives up, Akira is prone to letting his emotions consume him. Here are several scenes of this:
    • He is among the first of the Extracurricular Course Students to break down during the first Class Trial when they learn about the Tragedy and the state of the outside world, which led them to give up trying to fight to survive and let themselves be executed instead (with Soshun having to snap some sense into them).
    • He also the first to completely snapped at Junko Enoshima after listening to her psychopathic rants for so long, learning of her horrible actions, and acting like she knew what he was like. He was so mad that started cursing at Junko and wanting to strangle her to death with his bare hands or beating her up to a bloody pulp. And all that imagining only gives him more and more hatred for her.
Akira: (Inner Thoughts) I just couldn't take it anymore. I was so mad at everything she had done. I was so tired of listening to her never-ending psychotic rants. I was so pissed off at the way she kept acting like she knew me. I'd had enough! I wanted to jump across the trial stand ring and strangle the bitch's throat just to get her to shut the hell up. I started clenching and unclenching my fists as I imagine beating Junko Enoshima to a bloody pulp, and let my anger wash over me. But try as I might there was still more and more rage I had to give her, I had to make her pay for her sins right now!
Akira: Ikusaba-san... I'm sorry, I know she's your sister but I can't take it anymore. I want her to die. I want her to die and go to hell and burn like the evil bitch of a demon that she is! I'm sorry but I can't hold back my anger anymore.
    • He boldly exclaimed his hatred for the Ultimate Despair, wanting to get revenge at them for everything they did and wanting to kill every last one of them. Even prior to the Killing Game, he developed a hatred for Ultimate Despair during the Tragedy, to the point of wanting to kill them. He even cut off Nagito's hand off during this whole craziness!
  • Forgotten First Meeting: He forgotten that Nodaka is his Childhood Friend due to Laser-Guided Amnesia.
    • It is also presumed that Akira may have known Cam prior to the Mutual Killing Game.
  • Headphones Equal Isolation: Pretty much a lonely headphone-wearing kid.
  • I Just Want to Be Badass: Akira wanted to be just as talented and special as the Ultimate students, just like every other Reserve Course student.
  • Inner Monologue: Well, the story 'is' being told in Akira's point of view.
  • Innocence Lost: Experiencing all these events so far, and slowly learning about the Tragedy is causing this.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game. But no one told him he would develop a case of erasure where he begins losing his memories permanently. Worse yet, it has already begun.
  • The Leader: He seems to act as the group's leader. Nate lampshaded it when he said that the Reserve Course student was a better Ultimate Student Council President than their Soshun. Jose also lampshaded it at one point.
  • Let's Duet: He gets forced to do this by Beigoma at one point, and they sing the opening theme to the original Danganronpa Animation, "Never Say Never".
  • Meaningful Name: "Mai-" (迷) is an irregular pronunciation of the word "mei" which translates to lost and is used in the term "maigo", meaning "lost child". While his first name "Akira" (諦) comes from the verb "akirameru" which means "to abandon, or to give up".
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Played for laughs after a serious and heartwarming moment. When Akira pulled off a Get a Hold of Yourself, Woman! on Mukuro in order to stop her from committing suicide out of despair, he slapped her on the face and shouted at her with some really mean words. Sure enough, when Mukuro recovered the hope she lost, she proceeds to punch Akira in the stomach, just hard enough to almost break at least five of his ribs.
  • Nosebleed: He suffers this after meeting Alter Ego for the first time. Poor guy didn't realizes this until Izuru pointed it out.
  • No Social Skills: Despite his relationship with Nodaka in their childhood, Akira admits that he was a loner by design. Fortunately, it is being subverted as the story progresses and he becomes closer to the other students.
  • Oblivious to Love: Akira was so oblivious to Nodaka's feelings and the major hints she gave out that she was his childhood friend and sweetheart. By the time he finally gets it, their relationship took a turn for the worse until Akira had to fix it himself.
  • Official Couple: With Nodaka.
  • Ordinary High-School Student: He is this since he is just a Reserve Course Student and not an Ultimate Student. However, Hajime commented that Akira is good at drawing and the latter tends to daydream a lot.
  • Precision F-Strike: During the first Class Trial, when his hatred and anger for Junko reached his limit, he cursed her to the top of his lungs. Even his correct choice in the "Make A Decision" minigame is "fuck that".
Akira: Junko... fuck you and fuck Ultimate Despair!
  • Rousing Speech: He does this in a couple of important occasions, which include cheering Chihiro up from his depression on feeling guilty of how they would kill Hajime's killer if they chose to execute them, snapping Mukuro out of her funk and keeping her from killing herself, convincing Izuru to be his ally and friend, and helping his classmates mature and grow throughout the story. Many students, including Soshun (The Ultimate Student Council President and his second personality, the Ultimate Deva), commented on how good his speeches are.
  • Sanity Slippage: Not surprising if you knew what he has been going through with Break the Cutie moments and Despair Event Horizon moments, which help create his Split Personality problem. Just look at the Trauma Conga Line segment below for the list of what shit he went through and you'll understand why any normal person will lose it.
  • Ship Tease: With several girls in the story, but mainly with his childhood sweetheart Nodaka which later became an Official Couple.
  • Split Personality: Or something similar like that. He seems to have a voice (with 'his' voice) in his head that has memories of Akira during the Tragedy. But it only appeared so far in one chapter.
  • Sole Survivor: Excluding Hajime, who was sent to the Hope Cultivation Project, he seems to be the only known living Reserve Course student.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: He is this to Hajime Hinata. The both of them are plain, ordinary teens without much uniqueness and two were Reserve Course Students (and classmates in the same class, no less). Both of them initially held high regards to Hope's Peak Academy, only to turn sour once they learn how corrupt it really is. They also admired the Ultimate Students because of they incredible talents, yet suffer bullying by a number of those Ultimate Students because of their lack of talent. Because of that, they both lack confidence in themselves since they don't possess any incredible talent, hence, are not Ultimate Students.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: He doesn't intentionally go alone to do karaoke by himself, okay? It's just that whenever he gets invited to go with a group to do karaoke, everyone else cancels at the last minute. He doesn't like singing alone or anything...
  • The Sweat Drop: It's a running gag for his Character Tics.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Let's see... He suffers bullying by Ultimate students during his stay in Hope's Peak Academy for being a Reserve Course student, he suffers lack of confidence due to lack of talents, he gets trapped into a Mutual Killing Game where the only way to escape it by killing a fellow classmate with a murder and not get caught, he witnesses a dead Hajime Hinata (who is his classmate in the same Reserve Course class), he witnesses a pile of rotting corpses that belonged to members of Class 77-B and Class 78, he found out that the world is destroyed and stained in despair, he found out that some of his memories are erased and there is a side effect of his other memories also disappearing, he forgotten about his childhood sweetheart Nodaka Hoshi (who was now his classmate) and accidentally broke her heart, he nearly saw Nodaka kill herself, he is remembering the erased memories of the horrors he witnessed and committed during the Tragedy, he founds out that both the supposed saviors of the world (Future Foundation) will kill the whole Extracurricular Course in order to eliminate any members of the Ultimate Despair, and the list still keeps on going...
  • Unwanted Harem: He doesn't like the fact that he is being surrounded by so many weird girls, much less with the fact that it is suffocating him.
Akira: (Inner Thoughts) 'Kill me now', I thought to myself. I don't care what anyone says, a harem is not a male fantasy. It is utter hell!
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Soshun's second personality, the Ultimate Deva, said this to him for giving up fighting and surviving just because of the Tragedy and the state of the world. Both Soshun and the Ultimate Deva were impressed with the way Akira saved Mukuro and snapped her out of her suicide attempt by giving her hope. So both of them were understandingly disappointed and pissed off that Akira is now the one giving up on his own life.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are / You Are Not Alone: Nodaka delivers this to Akira when the latter believes that he is nothing, a nobody, and he doesn't matter to anyone. Soon, the others join in to tell him that he matters to them.
Nodaka: You do matter Akira. You matter to me, and you matter to everyone else here too, right?

    Nagito Komaeda

Ultimate Lucky Student, Ultimate Despair

"All the Ultimates coming together against this overwhelming despair, I just get chills thinking about it."

Class 77-B's hope-addicted luckster from Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair is back in the Mutual Killing Game. As to why and how, only time will tell.

He is a canon character from the Hope's Peak Academy Saga of the Danganronpa series.

  • Ambiguously Gay: He straight out admits he likes guys in this story, where as it's only implied in Danganronpa 2.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Danganronpa fans would know that one of Nagito's hands have been cut off. What we didn't know is that Akira is the one who ended up cutting it off Nagito's arm.
  • Born Lucky: His dangerous talent allows him to experience both the benefits of good luck and the curse of bad luck. You never really know how his luck is going to go.
  • Berserk Button: Despair. What do you expect from a hope fanatic?
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: At two occasions during the 1st Class Trial, he looked at the cameras and talked directly to the readers. Cam kept telling him to stop it as it was annoying.
  • A Day in the Limelight: He has one in "Chapter 1, Part 9: So Long Once Again, Academy of Despair".
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Dear God... where to begin... He suffers from a rare disease or two, suffers from parents who verbally abuse him by calling him trash because he doesn't have any talents or academic excellence or anything unique besides his luck, gets nearly killed by a hijacked during his vacation trip with his family, gets brainwashed by Junko's Despair Anime, and gets his hand cut off by Akira of all people (though Akira doesn't remember it due to Laser-Guided Amnesia)!
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: He inherited a large amount of money because his parents were killed by a hijicker. It also helps that his dead parents were always verbally abusing him and calling him trash.
  • The Dog Bites Back: The guy initially joined Ultimate Despair in order to create a bigger hope. But when he got fed up with Junko, she brainwashes him and forces him to commit many horrible things. Add the fact that his classmates wind up dead, it makes that he really hated Junko in a bigger scale than usual. So, it would make sense that he joined with Mukuro and Izuru in betraying Junko, and it would be no surprise if Nagito did it mostly for hope and slightly out of personally hating Junko's guts.
  • Doom Magnet: He may have good intentions at heart, but he is still very dangerous. He not only brings about trouble with his luck, he sometimes causes it intentionally too.
  • Equivalent Exchange: It is how his luck work. The more bad luck he has, the more good luck he will have later on. It is the same with vice versa.
  • Idiot Hair: He has an ahoge, along with his messy hair.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game. That was a lie, he was among the few people who entered the game with all his memories. Yet he seemingly remains blissfully unaware that anything is amiss.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: What Danganronpa fan wouldn't know about Nagito's obsession with hope, badass luck, incident with being brainwashed like the rest of his classmates into becoming Ultimate Despair, dangerous intelligence, interest in guys (in this case, Hajime Hinata), and a whole lot of other stuff.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: He isn't bothered by the fact that Akira cut off his hand prior to the game, even if the Reserve Course student doesn't remember it entirely due to his memories being erased. However, this goes against the knowledge revealed in Danganronpa 2 that he cut off his own hand willingly and then replaced it with that of the dead Junko Enoshima. But, in this case, that hasn't happened yet, as underneath his oven mitt there is nothing but a stump.
  • Meaningful Name: "Nagito" (凪斗) as a name means "Calm Below the Dipper", as in the big dipper constellation, while "Komaeda" (狛枝) translates as "Lion-Dog Tree Branches". Lion-Dogs are statues that protect and guard shrines in Shintoism. The kanji used are rather old and classical, which may allude to an old family line or an upper class background.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: His codename as an Ultimate Despair is "The Hopeful Harbinger of Death". He was known for terrorizing major cities with several gruesome bombings and always leaving a hopeful message at the scene of his crimes.
  • Out of Sight, Out of Mind: His "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "For Hope's Sake".
  • Unluckily Lucky: His luck goes in a crazy pattern of good luck and bad luck. The bigger the good luck, the worse the bad luck. The same applies for vice versa.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: He means well, and he isn't completely insane, he just wants to help everyone and make their hope stronger. The problem is that he is willing to do anything to accomplish this.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Akira tries to cheer Nagito up whenever the latter casually puts himself down by calling himself trash, or scum, or the like.

    Micho Auruka

Ultimate Defense Attorney

"But enough bragging long-windedness, I'll send you off with this, my dream is to become the world's best lawyer and clean up the justice system once and for all so it can be fair and impartial for all. Because whether you know it or not there's a lot of injustice in the world and someone needs to set things right. Aww no, that sounded really cheesy didn't it? Someone else please go, I'm embarrassed now."

She may appear to be an ordinary girl, but she's definitely no amateur. She's an experienced defense attorney who has overturned countless closed cases with guilty verdicts. Her goal is to clean up the justice system once and for all.

She is an Original Character from one of the fanfiction's contributors and viewers, "Freeze Thunder".

  • Badass Pacifist: She is cheerful and kind, all the while kicking down contradictions and helping her classmates in catching the killer in the class trials. She's Danganronpa's own Ace Attorney.
  • Berserk Button: She takes justice and righteousness very seriously. So if you are someone who go against or pervert the justice system, or someone who is a criminal trying to do anything to get off the hook, you will be confronted by the Ultimate Defense Attorney herself.
Jose: You're just letting your personal feelings cloud your judgement, like it or not she's guilty until proven otherwise.
Micho: The phrase is innocent until proven otherwise, you asshole! Stop perverting the justice system, it's almost like you're enjoying this!
  • Crusading Lawyer: Her goal and dream is to clean up the justice system, all the while possessing a strong hate for anyone that would abuse the law. And even in the Mutual Killing Game, she is still willing to give a chance to the killer to make their argument.
  • Expy: The very fact that she is a defense attorney is in itself a reference to a famous defense attorney game, "Ace Attorney".
  • Idiot Hair: Her ahoge goes right through a hole on her beanie hat.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Her memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Meaningful Name: "Micho" (倫) is an irregular pronunciation of the name "Michi" which when written as this kanji means "companion, or ethics" which refer to Micho’s caring personality, and the “-Ruka” (利花) part of “Auruka” is an irregular pronunciation of the name "Rika" which means "clever, or advantageous" referring to Micho’s cleverness as a defense attorney.
  • Nice Guy: To the point that Micho herself thinks she is too nice, especially when it involves having to look after Azami.
Micho: Why? Why can't I leave her alone? Why do I have to be such a caring person?
  • Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: She delivers this in the first Class Trial when 'Hajime' was about to escape the guilty verdict by her classmates. If you played enough "Ace Attorney" games, then you've already guessed correctly what she said just as everyone was about to vote...
    Micho: OBJECTION!
  • Seekers: She's a master in solving cases in the court, which won her the title of "Ultimate Defense Attorney", and she chooses to focus in finding the truth in cases rather than always proving her client innocent, like most defense attorneys only care about doing. She's Phoenix Wright inside and out.
  • Too Much Information: She obviously wished she could unheard the knowledge Jose mentioned about how there are a lot of mystery novels with lesbian themes in it.

    Beigoma Kiyoshi

Ultimate Quote Keeper

"You all know how I feel, strength lies in numbers - Anon... no, you know what? Strength lies in friendship and trust - Beigoma Kiyoshi. I feel so strongly about it that I might as well stake my own claim on it."

She appears to be a maiden from a romance novel, but her personality is so pure and so childish. As she is the Ultimate Quote Keeper, she can remember any quote she read, heard, or written.

She is an Original Character from one of the fanfiction's contributors and viewers, "hirowriter".

  • Affectionate Nickname: Akira gave her the nickname "Asa-chan", which comes from the Japanese word for the flower 'morning glory' (asagao).
  • Berserk Button: Don't get too close to Akira or insult him... unless you want to face Beigoma's fury. Also, don't make a mockery of her beloved manga(s) and animes, like using one of her favorite anime songs to brainwash people.
  • Beware the Nice Ones / Stronger Than They Look: She is a childish and innocent girl from the countryside. And yet she was able to hold a hug on Akira despite Nate, the "Ultimate Assassin", pulling her away with "all" of his strength. This nearly led to Akira being strangled to death!
  • Big Brother Attraction: She just adopted Akira as her big brother, and yet she already wants it to be a romantic-sibling relationship.
  • Book Dumb: She admits she isn't good with logic, and it doesn't help that her common sense and line of thinking reminds you of a crack manga character.
    • Dumbass Has a Point: And yet she constantly points out important facts, even though she 'herself' doesn't realize how important it is!
Jose: You just discovered a loophole in the rules and you don't even realize it do you?
Beigoma: Huh, I discovered a loophole?! Really?! That's awesome!
Jonathan: Seriously who the hell is the girl?
  • Bookworm: In the past she would rarely be seen 'not' having her nose buried in a book in her hometown in Hokkaido. She would read at least five books a day. She also said she didn't have much to do in the countryside.
  • Cheerful Child: As an addition to being a Genki Girl.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She doesn't want Nodaka to get close to Akira, even if they are childhood sweethearts.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Well, Akira 'did' describe her as someone out of a crack manga.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Thanks to her special Book Dumb and Dumbass Has a Point combo, you can expect her to mention very important facts WITHOUT realizing how important they are.
    • And then there's this scene from the last chapter for the first Class Trial - When the group found out that Junko used one of the Neon Genesis: Evangelion songs, Tsubasa wo Kudadai, to brainwash people, Jonathan was dumbfounded on why an anime song was used for something as big as brainwashing. But Beigoma, who was enraged from learning that one of her favorite songs was used for something evil, misinterpreted Jonathan's reaction as being enraged for the same reason as her.
Jonathan: Wait, that song from freaking Neon Genesis: Evangelion you've got to be kidding me?! Whose idiotic idea was that?!
Beigoma: (Gasped) That's one of the best songs in all of existence! I agree with Junmaru-kun! How could you take that beautiful melody and pervert it to be used for brain-washing?! How dare you, that is unforgivable?! Unforgivable!
Shiro: Um, actually I think he was saying how it was kind of ridiculous to use an anime song to brain-wash people.
  • Cuteness Proximity: She exclaims how cute things are when she is close to them. An example is the Usami keychain.
  • Death Glare: She actually gave one to Nodaka whenever the latter was getting too close to Akira, the former's adopted brother. She also gave one to Jonathan while she was angry at seeing Akira and Nodaka being too close together.
  • Expy: According to her report card, her design is based after the main character of an anime/manga called "Kobato". They even share the same birthday, August 18th.
  • Failed a Spot Check: This odd version is Played for Laughs. Beigoma can actually spot VERY important clues and details that even Jonathan, the Ultimate Procrastinator, can overlook! And the funniest part is... Beigoma spots them without even realizing it herself!
  • Fear of Thunder: Based on her dislike of storms from her report card, it is suggested that she has a fear of storms.
  • Friend to All Children: According to her report card, she loves children.
  • Genki Girl: Her childish and upbeat personality, mixed with her overall innocence, raises this.
  • The Glomp: She just loves hugging her Onii-chan (Akira) and Onee-chan (Mukuro), whom she forcibly adopted.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Her hair is more like canary yellow than gold, but her hair is certainly pure and kind.
  • Let's Duet: She forces Akira to do a duet with her when she found out that he sings karaoke alone. It's a big Call-Back when you realize the song they sang was the opening of Danganronpa Theanimation, "Never Say Never".
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Her memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Like Brother and Sister: Beigoma adopted Akira as her big brother and later Mukuro as her big sister.
  • Make Me Wanna Shout: Her "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Siblings' Serenade".
  • Meaningful Name: The first part of Beigoma’s name "Bei-" is written as (米) which means "rice", which is probably referring to her old life living out in the countryside. And the first part of her last name "Kiyo-“ is written (清) which means "clean, clear, or pure", which is probably referring to her gentle nature.
    • Furthermore, the full name of her first name, which is written as (貝独楽), is translated literally into "Beigoma" which are Japanese spinning top toys that are traditionally made out of Japanese Babylon shells. The object of the game is to spin two Beigomas in an arena and have them try to topple one another to see which one stops spinning first. Beigomas are actually believed to be the origin of the popular Beyblade toys.
  • My Sister Is Off-Limits: It's the reverse version with Akira as her adoptive brother. She's the one who doesn't want girls getting too close to Akira if it seems like the latter doesn't go well with the girl. This is what we call a little sister's instinct. Then again, part of the reason is because she is the one that wants to be in a relationship with him.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Jose claims this about him and Beigoma because they are Bookworms.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: She is normal kind and gentle. But when she's mad... no, when she's PISSED, you better watch out.
  • Otaku: She loves reading manga because of her Bookworm attitude. She even had a bad habit of quoting a lot from manga in her childhood.
  • Precision F-Strike: An out-of-character moment for her when she snaps at Nodaka for insulting Akira too far.
Beigoma: Enough! Say whatever you want about me but I will not have you insult my Onii-chan you... you... you bitch."
  • Skewed Priorities: Expect her to do this a lot when her persona reminds you of a crack manga character. One of the earliest examples is when she appears out of nowhere and drags Akira into doing karaoke in the middle of a murder investigation with a time limit!
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Her reaction to Junko using one of her favorite anime songs to brain-wash people.
  • Verbal Tic: Doubles as a Character Tic. She quotes people from time to time to make her points. It's her Ultimate title hazard. She also revealed that, in the past, her quoting case was far worse because of how much manga she read, which led every other sentence out of her mouth being a quote from one of the mangas she read.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: According to her Character Profile in Maestro Infinite's Home Page (in the Fanfiction.net), Beigoma Kiyoshi doesn't like (and may have a fear of) storms.

    Soshun Murasame

Ultimate Student Council President Duo (First Half)

"The teacher who brought me here told me that I was picked because I have good leadership skills, but I didn't know what the hell he was talking about, I've never been a leader in anything in all my life. Even now whenever I have something important to do, I just slack off or fall asleep or whatever, and then somebody else ends up doing it for me."
Soshun Murasame

He appears to be an ordinary boy who's nothing more than a slacker. He shares the same name and talent as the Soshun Murasame from Danganronpa 3, but his appearance and personality are nothing like that of the other Soshun Murasame. It is later revealed while digging through the Mastermind's files that there are two Soshun Murasames, the one from DR3 who was involved in the Student Council mutual killing game and later killed by Yasuke Matsuda, and the Soshun Murasame in this story who is still a total mystery. He suffers from a case of DID, where he has a second personality who acts as the opposite version of him, known as the Ultimate Deva.

Though he is based after the Soshun Murasame from the Hope's Peak Academy Saga of the Danganronpa series, he more-or-less counts as an Original Character of the fanfiction's writer, "Maestro Infinite".

  • Alternate Identity Amnesia: When he is acting as Soshun, he only remembers everything he saw and acted as Soshun. When he's the Ultimate Deva, he remembers memories of both as Soshun and as the Ultimate Deva.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Despite his laziness, he possesses some really great talent, like being able to fully learn Latin and Italian in just a month. And he would have finished sooner, had his teacher allowed him to study them during class. As for his Ultimate Council President talent, it is only evident that he has a making as a leader when he actually makes an effort to show it, which is usually when he is in his Ultimate Deva persona.
  • Idiot Hair: His ahoge is described as sharp like a crescent moon.
  • I'm a Man; I Can't Help It: According to the Ultimate Deva, Soshun has an interest in perverted stuff, but he isn't open with these thoughts unless he is in his Ultimate Deva persona.
  • Hikikomori: His dream is to be a professional hikikomori. Or at least for his lazy personality that is.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game. Then there's his Alternate Identity Amnesia issue.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: You know something's off if you watched Danganronpa 3 Anime's Despair Arc. Why is this guy Soshun Murasame when we saw a black-haired Ultimate Council President in Danganronpa 3: Despair Arc who gets killed off in Danganronpa: Zero?
  • Meaningful Name: "Soshun" (早春) means "early spring". His last name, "Murasame" (村雨) means, as a whole, "a passing shower."
    • It should be noted that "Murasame" has also been the name of several Japanese "destroyer" warships.
    • Fan Note - In "Danganronpa 3: Side Despair", when Junko presents the student council of Hope's Peak with files containing their personal information, the other Soshun's file has his name written as (村上 早春) "Murakami Soshun". This, however, might simply be an oversight by the anime's producers... or it could be hinting to the existence of a certain Deva. After all, "Kami" means "God".
  • Precision F-Strike: Shouts "Goddammit" very loudly when everyone else was about to commit mass suicide during the first Class Trial.
  • The Slacker: He acts nothing like the Ultimate Student Council President you would expect him to be. He admits to being lazy in everything. On the other hand, his second personality (which is made up of Soshun's inner thoughts and emotions) is the exact opposite.
  • Split Personality: The guy has Dissociative Identity Disorder. We have the slacker who appears to be nothing extraordinary. But we also have the secondary personality, who acts as an up-beat and Super-Saiyan version of Soshun known as the "Ultimate Deva".
  • The Stoic: Lampshaded by his Ultimate Deva persona, who represents Soshuns inner thoughts, that Soshun shows as much emotions as a rock.
  • Student Council President: He is obviously this, since this 'is' his Ultimate talent. Though... it is questioned how true it is when you have the Soshun Murasame from the Danganronpa 3 animation.
  • Super Mode: When Soshun switches personalities with the Ultimate Deva, his hair becomes spiky while losing the ahoge, his eyes becomes completely yellow, his teeth develop fangs, and his body is shrouded in a fiery aura. Akira even lampshaded it as being a Shout-Out to Dragon Ball Z.

    Ultimate Deva (WARNING: UNMARKED SPOILERS

Ultimate Student Council President Duo (Second Half)

"Well say my name and I shall appear, as flashy as lightning, as powerful as a hurricane like the mighty earthquake I will rock your very souls! Give it up ladies and gentlemen for the one, the only, the other half of Ultimate Student Council President Duo, the incredible Ultimate Deva!"
Ultimate Deva

The Ultimate Deva is the second personality of Soshun Murasame that only appears when Soshun is 'very' pissed. Though he acts like the opposite version of Soshun, he is actually just the manifestation of Soshun's inner thoughts and emotions. So he is still Soshun, but the side of Soshun that isn't expressed by the original.

  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: The Ultimate Deva shouted and complained to everyone in the Extracurricular Course about them giving up fighting against Monokuma and the Ultimate Despair, as well as giving up on their lives, because of the Tragedy and the world going to hell.
  • Idiot Hair: His ahoge disappeared when he transformed from Soshun to the Ultimate Deva.
  • I'm a Man; I Can't Help It: The Ultimate Deva is very open with his perverted nature, unlike his counterpart Soshun.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game. Then there's his Alternate Identity Amnesia issue.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: He is in the same boat as with Soshun when one is to talk about the Soshun from "Danganronpa 3: Side Despair".
  • Meaningful Name: He is nicknamed the Ultimate Deva because of his talent as the Ultimate Council President, combined with the whole glow-in-the-dark trick of his.
  • The Nicknamer: The Ultimate Deva sometimes refer people in nicknames of all sorts like ol' slacker (His primary personality, Soshun), poindexter (Soshun), Dr. Know-It-All (Yasuke), and tsundere maid (Nodaka).
  • Power Fist: His "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "H.U.I.C".
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: He tends to swear a lot.
  • The Slacker: Subverted. Unlike Soshun, this second personality (which is made up of Soshun's inner thoughts and emotions) is the exact opposite.
  • Split Personality: The guy has Dissociative Identity Disorder. We have the slacker who appears to be nothing extraordinary. But we also have the secondary personality, who acts as an up-beat and Super-Saiyan version of Soshun known as the "Ultimate Deva".
  • Student Council President: He shares this talent with his other personality, Soshun.

    Chihiro Fujisaki

Ultimate Programmer

"I don't know if I'll be of that much help since the only thing I'm good at is working with computers. I know I can be a bit of a coward too, but I want to change all that. I... I want to be able to fight my own battles so I can destroy my old fragile seld once and for all. I'm tired of being weak so please let me help too, so I can learn to change along with the rest of you."

He is our familiar programmer from Class 78. He crossdresses as a girl in order to escape bullying. Despite being killed in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, he reappears again in this story.

He is a canon character from the Hope's Peak Academy Saga of the Danganronpa series.

  • Crossdresser: Just like in Trigger Happy Havoc.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: His childhood consisted of him being constantly bullied for not being 'manly', and resulted in him trying to hide his weakness by pretending to be a girl.
  • Disguised in Drag: The poor guy is still pretending to be a girl because of his trauma from his endless bullying for not being 'manly'.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: Chihiro is a boy crossdressing as a girl because of his bullying issues in the past. He does not like dressing up as a girl, nor does he enjoy acting like one.
  • Meaningful Name: The kanji for "Fujisaki" (不二咲) can altogether mean "Two Unblooming (Flowers)", while "Chihiro" (千尋) translates to "One Thousand Questions".
  • Mistaken for Gay: He has a little angst concerning Cam's feelings for him because the latter thinks the former is a girl.
  • Moment Killer: He and Cam do this ruin the mood, being that kiss between Akira and Nodaka.
  • Muscle Angst: The poor guy was bullied for being weak and he, himself, hates his weakness that led him to crossdress.
  • Nice Guy: He may have been bullied in the past, and he may also be overly shy at times, but he is still kind to everyone throughout the story.
  • Otaku: He really likes to talk about computers.
  • Out of Sight, Out of Mind: His "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Destruction Algorithm".
  • Shipper on Deck: He teased Mukuro's feelings for Makoto at one point, though that was a result from investigating a case. He does the same thing with Akira and Nodaka.
  • Shorter Means Smarter: He is a short teen with amazing computer skills.
  • Techno Wizard: He's so skilled in programming that he was hired to make an AI named Alter Ego who appeared in Trigger Happy Havoc and Goodbye Despair. Alter Ego later reappears in this story.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: He cross-dresses because he was traumatized from being bullied about being weak, which led him to escape his trauma by pretending to be a girl. However, that doesn't stop him from helping everyone and being kind to them.

    Nate Baron

Ultimate Assassin

"I hate bullies and these Ultimate Despair bastards pick on the innocent and try to drive them insane, they're the worst kind of bullies. I swear, if it's the last thing I do I'm going to take them down. But even if I'm the Ultimate Assassin, an assassin can't do everything on his own. He needs information and backup to solve problems he can't solve with his skills. So that is why I hereby declare you guys my new Order, you job as such is to guide me with a foolproof strategy. Now just think of me as a sword and strike these Ultimate Despair bastards down!"

He is a friendly student who has trained all his life to be an assassin. However, he has never killed anyone before, and he doesn't intend to either. So he's trying to find something productive to do with his talent (other then killing).

He is an Original Character from one of the fanfiction's contributors and viewers, "Strong Style Publications".

  • Blade Enthusiast: His report card says that he loves knives to the point that it's creepy.
  • Butt-Monkey: Seems to be the case with him, considering how he makes himself look like an idiot at times when you can tell he's actually pretty serious.
  • Claustrophobia: His report card says that he dislikes close spaces, so it suggests that he may also have a fear of close spaces too.
  • Does Not Like Spam: According to his Character Profile in Maestro Infinite's Home Page (in the Fanfiction.net), Nate Baron doesn't like sour foods.
  • Dual Wielding: His "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Killer Moves".
  • Innocence Lost: Subverted, he's an assassin but he has never killed anyone.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
    • An interesting note, according to his report card, is that he doesn't know his real birthday for reasons that will be explained later in the story. Because he doesn't know his real birthday, he made January 1st his birthday.
  • Meaningful Name: Nate is half-Japanese so he uses full Kanji. His first name "Nate" is written (寧研) which translates to "peace" and "hone, or refine" respectively. This could be referring to Nate’s peace loving nature and his sharp skills as an assassin. And the prefix for his last name "Baro-", pronounced "Baru-" is written (配) which means "to distribute or deliver", which in Nate’s case could only mean one thing…death.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: The fact that he is called the "Ultimate Assassin" should be enough of a reason to run.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: He may be trained to kill to the point that he can be called the Ultimate Assassin, but he has never really killed anyone before. He's in the process of finding out what he should do with his talent, other than killing of course.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: With Yasuhiro Hagakure and Kazuichi Soda when it comes to acting as the Butt-Monkey or comical idiot in the group. He can also be seen as one with Sakura Ogami when it comes to being the Gentle Giant. Though he isn't physical huge compared to the other students of the Extracurricular Course Students, among original characters, he possesses the physically strongest talent among the batch (being an Ultimate Assassin). However, at the same time, he isn't violent or aggressive.
  • Sweet Tooth: According to his Character Profile in Maestro Infinite's Home Page (in the Fanfiction.net), Nate Baron likes sweets.
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: He said that hurting a girl is against his code.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Based on his report card, it is suggested that he may have Claustrophobia.

    Aya Kisaragi

Ultimate Marine Biologist

"I know everything there is to know about sea sponges, want to know how many different species of sponges there are? There's Agelas cerebrum, Agelas cerviornis, Agelas citrine, Agelas clathrodes, Agelas conifer, Agelas..."

She is an energetic girl who loves to talk about sea creatures. She even uses sea creatures in her dialogues when using figures of speech!

She is an Original Character from one of the fanfiction's contributors and viewers, "Mikamizu Mouri".

  • Afraid of Blood: She faints from seeing it. Just mentioning blood makes her queasy.
  • Animal Motifs: Sea creatures.
  • Does Not Like Spam: According to her Character Profile in Maestro Infinite's Home Page (in the Fanfiction.net), Aya Kisaragi dislikes carrot cake.
  • Forgot I Couldn't Swim: Happens during her "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Trial by Tide".
  • Genki Girl: She is so hyper that it is as if she has constantly eaten too much candy or drunk too much coffee.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Her memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Making a Splash: Her "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Trial by Tide".
  • Meaningful Name: Aya’s first name is written as (早) which means "fast", which is probably referring to her fast-talking mouth. And the first part of her last name "Kisa-" is written (岸) which means "sea shore", which is probably referring to her talent as the Ultimate Marine Biologist.
  • Motor Mouth: It's a result from her Genki Girl personality. Her talking is the one that can push Yasuke's Berserk Button the most.
  • Photographic Memory: Azami calls Aya "Ehon-chan" (picture book) because Aya has photographic memory. In addition, Aya can easily remember and recall the names of around 400 different species of sea sponges, all in 'alphabetical' order!
  • Verbal Tic: Doubles as a Character Tic. She tends to use figure of speeches that uses anything connected to marine animals or the marine world in general. It seems her exposure to her job as the Ultimate Marine Biologist affected her personality a little too much...
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She's scared of blood. In addition, her report card suggests that she may also have a fear of snakes since she dislikes them.

    Sawa Nanase

Ultimate Triathlete

"I like going barefoot, it makes me feel free."

She is a beautiful girl whose appearance is similar's to an angel's or an elf's. She may seem fragile, but her talent lies in sports.

She is an Original Character from one of the fanfiction's contributors and viewers, "The Rose Shadow 21".

  • Dark and Troubled Past: Beigoma and Akira lampshaded it when they noticed that Sawa holds a strong sense of sadness.
  • Death Seeker: According to the 21st student, she looks like that she has given up in life.
  • Does Not Like Spam: According to her Character Profile in Maestro Infinite's Home Page (in the Fanfiction.net), Sawa Nanase dislikes spicy foods.
  • Fangirl: According to her report card, she is a fan of the singer Nagi Yanagi (who is a 'real life' female singer from Japan).
  • Foil: To Asahina Aoi. She is an athletic girl with a girly and cheerful personality like her senpai. However, unlike Asahina, she is secretly depressed to the point that she lacks much attachment to life.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Her memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Meaningful Name: "Sawa" (沢) as a name means "swamp, or marsh" which could be referring to Sawa’s outdoorsy nature. And "Nan-" (何) translates as "what?” and "-Ase" (汗) translates as "sweat, or perspiration". So altogether "Nanase" could be saying "What sweat?" as a pun on Sawa’s extreme athletic prowess.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: She is normally sweet and gentle, but push her too far and she will turn aggressive to the point that she will swear/curse and scare the hell out of everyone. She can even unnerve Mukuro and Izuru!
  • Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Her "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Footprints in the Sand".
  • Ship Tease: With Jonathan.
  • Stronger Than They Look: She appears to be a sweet and fragile girl, but she is a tough sportswoman who got titled the Ultimate Triathlete.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: It isn't obvious, but Beigoma pointed this out when she noticed that Sawa's heart is broken.

    Connie Takemi

Ultimate Horologist

"I will show you yet la power of le Takemi Time Keepers, of this I vow!"

She is a French foreign-exchange student whose specialty is making clocks. Her appearance is a Shout-Out to the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. That Shout-Out becomes stronger when she nicknames everyone from the stories of Alice.

She is an Original Character of the fanfiction's writer, "Maestro Infinite".

  • Attack Reflector / Hoist by His Own Petard: Her "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "French Time Twist".
  • Calling Your Attacks: Does this at one point when she was stopping Keiko from kissing a sleeping Azami. It's called the "Connie Chop". She does it to Keiko a couple of other times.
  • Fangirl: She is a fan of Lewis Carroll and his literary works.
  • Friend to All Children: According to her report card, she care for children since she has a younger brother and sister whom she cares deeply for.
  • Hates Being Alone: As said in her report card. The reason why is to be explained later in the story.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Her memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Meaningful Name: Connie is 100% French so technically her name shouldn’t have any kanji in it, but when she transferred in she noticed that her last name shares the prefix "Take-" with the kanji "chiku" (竹) which means "bamboo" so Connie decided to put it in her name so she could truly get into the Japanese experience. She’ll explain this later on. And if you’d like to know her first name "Connie" also written in kanji would look like this (来逃) which roughly translates to "escaping the future", which could be a reference to Connie’s love of the old-timey lifestyle.
  • Moment Killer: She intentionally does this to Keiko when she was trying to kiss a sleeping Azami.
  • The Nicknamer: She nicknames everyone based on characters from Lewis Carroll's works, especially from "Alice in Wonderland".
  • Otaku: She is one towards anything to do with machines or robots.
  • Ship Tease: With her love interest in Keiko.
  • Skewed Priorities: Sure, you and Cam can go marveling over how amazing the "Monobeasts" and their ability to combine into a freaking large robot called "Monobeast King Fighter Supreme" while every other Extracurricular Course student panics over how those same robots can kill them.
  • Steampunk: It stems from her talent for making clocks.
  • Time Travel: She dreams of successful accomplishing time travel.
  • Yuri Genre: There's a number of hints that she is in love with Keiko. Then, it is confirmed. They are now the first official yuri pairing in Danganronpa history!

Kurai Mirai (Dark Future)

    Izuru Kamukura
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/izuru.jpg

Ultimate Hope, Ultimate Despair

"I'm bored."

He is Hajime Hinata's secondary personality, born from the Hope Cultivation Project, or as it's more commonly know, the Izuru Kamukura Project. He possesses a range of talents from academic to physical. However, unlike the Izuru we come to know from Danganronpa 3, this Izuru easily switches from being bored to having emotions. What is up with this Izuru?

He is a canon character from the Hope's Peak Academy Saga, but with some changes by the fanfiction's writer "Maestro Infinite".

  • The Ace: He has many talents put inside of him as a result of the Hope Cultivation Project.
    • Broken Ace: On the downside, that project also suppressed his memories and even messed with his emotions.
  • All Your Powers Combined: He has nearly every talent of every student who has ever attended Hope's Peak Academy, including Nagito's luck and Chihiro's programming skills.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis / Hyper-Awareness: He's very talented in his intellect. It helps with the investigations and Class Trials in more than one occasion. He can also predict the future to an extent by using hypotheses and analysis.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: A guy with many talents who does amazing things, all in a slick black suit.
  • Blessed with Suck: He possesses countless talents, but not only did it come with the cost of his original personality and memories, it also caused him to get bored easily with life and have unstable emotions.
  • Boom, Headshot!: One of his version of his "Rapid Doubt Annihilaion" special mover, "Anything You Can Do, I can Do Better", involves using a semi-automatic rifle.
  • Bullying the Dragon: He had no problems making the Mastermind and his army of Monokuma Units bring '''the entire final destination museum''' to the Class Trial. Obviously, the Mastermind was NOT happy.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Up side? He possesses virtually every talent of every Ultimate student who attended Hope's Peak Academy. Down side? His emotions, personality, memories, and even some of his moral-based common sense is either over-suppressed or completely out-of-wack.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Besides his sufferings as a Reserve Course student, he also has a bad experience from being involved with Chiaki's death in this story too. Clearly he knows more than he's letting on.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Though Izuru wasn't really interested in joining Junko as an Ultimate Despair, he did tag along out of boredom. But it makes sense that he was tired of Junko and her antics that were forced on him, so betraying her in the end wasn't too much of a surprise.
  • Equivalent Exchange / Power at a Price: As a result of the Hope Cultivation Project, Izuru gain a lot of talents from Ultimate students in exchange for his memories and emotions.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: He turned from an ordinary student to one of the most talented person in the world.
  • I Just Want to Be Badass: The reason why Izuru participated in the Hope Cultivation Project: because he wanted to be talented and special like the other Ultimates.
  • Improbable Weapon User: During most versions of his "Rapid Doubt Annihilaion" special mover, "Anything You Can Do, I can Do Better". They include a video game handheld console, engineer tools, a glass slipper, and food meant to cover the whole argument!
  • Insufferable Genius: He tends to be like this at times. Because his talents (like being able to calculate the future) makes everything appear more boring to him, he makes other people figure out the answers for themselves (even if he knows ALL the said answers) either because he is too bored to do all the work or he wants things to become more interesting.
  • Jack of All Trades / Master of All: He was just a plain, normal teen... until he went through a heavy experimentation/operation that turned him into a Master of All Trade.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game. That was a lie, he was among the few people who entered the game with all his memories. On the other hand, his memories pertaining to who he was before the Hope Cultivation Project got suppressed as a result of getting all of those talents.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: This guy has to be the same Izuru Kamukura created from the Hope Cultivation Project when Hajime Hinata (a Reserve Course Student) is used in an experiment to forcibly insert talents into his brain. And, with or without clear memories as Hajime Hinata, he still has feelings for Chiaki Nanami.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: You have to admit, his long hair compliments his good looks.
  • Manly Tears: When Chiakikuma stops pretending to be Chiaki and, by the Mastermind's control, told him that he shouldn't be depressed because he doesn't have any connections with Chiaki (When in fact the Mastermind knew the Ultimate does have a deep connection with her), Izuru looked away and started to silently cry.
  • Meaningful Name: His first and last names are written in katakana, but the original founder of Hopes Peak Academy Izuru Kamukura's names are written in traditional kanji. "Izuru" (as 出流), which literally means "out of the current", could also mean "to go out into exile". Both of these meanings could reflect how Izuru Kamukura was a unique existence which felt very secluded due to having no peers. "Kamukura" (as 神座) means "a place in which a god resides" or "a seat for gods". This could reflect how Izuru was created to be a host for superhuman talent.
  • No Social Skills: He may have many talents, but because of his lost memories and unstable emotions & personality, he has problems befriending people correctly even if he had talents for socializing.
  • Not So Above It All: Even 'he' goes along laughing or having fun in a Funny Moment. Like making fun of Akira when the latter suffers a Nose Bleed from seeing a very cute Alter Ego.
  • Not So Stoic: Unlike the Izuru we know from DR3, this Izuru can easily switch between being bored and having emotions. Not to mention his personality is far more emotional than The Stoic Izuru we are more familiar with.
  • Playful Hacker: He hacked into the files of the Mastermind in order to figure out their motives and the cast's past.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His red eyes were a result of the experiments for the Izuru Kamukura Project, which gave him his unstable emotions and multiple talents. An additional note is that all Remnants of Despair seems to have red eyes, this might also be an effect of Junko Enoshima's brainwashing process.
  • Superpower Lottery: It isn't just academic and physical talent he's got, he even has Nagito's luck.
  • Super-Senses: Believed to have inherited the most sensitive of all five senses from among the Ultimates.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: He decided to try to help Akira after the latter convinced him that if they join together they can destroy Junko Enoshima and Ultimate Despair.
  • Wham Line: He delivers one when indirectly stating who the first Class Trial's murderer is. This is shocking to both the students and to the readers, with the latter's case being if you fell for the Red Herring evidences used to think that Junko's really dead and the killer may be either Hajime Hinata or the Ultimate Impostor.

    Mukuro Ikusaba
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mukuro_0.jpg

Ultimate Soldier, Ultimate Despair

"We're never going to get out of here you know? This is the end of our old way of living. It's just like you wanted, you will become someone different, just not the kind of person you want to be."

She is Junko Enoshima's older sister and part of the Despair Sisters. She is the hard-worker who follows Junko's every command in order to satisfy her sister. However, after falling in love with Makoto Naegi, she began to have conflicts with herself. In the end, before her true story could even begin, she was betrayed and killed by her sister during the events of Trigger Happy Havoc when she was killed while pretending to be Junko. However, she appears to be participating in this game now, and she too seems unaware of how different things are. What could this all mean?

She is a canon character from the Hope's Peak Academy Saga of the Danganronpa series.

  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Makoto was the reason Mukuro began opening up herself, mainly because the latter was the first person to ever smile at her and treat her kindly as revealed in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc IF. Now it's Akira's turn, as we've seen so far. He helped snap Mukuro out of her funk and keep her from killing herself when she lost Makoto and her classmates. This led her to betray Junko and the Ultimate Despairs.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Her "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Full Assault".
  • Dark and Troubled Past: This girl went to join the military to relieve herself of the despair she had and become a killer with a purpose. Then of course there's her life as an Ultimate Despair and spreading chaos with her sister.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Courtesy of Makoto, Akira, and later the other Extracurricular course students.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: [[spoiler:Mukuro destroyed twenty of the Mastermind's Monokuma Units.
  • The Dog Bites Back: When Junko lied to Mukuro about just brainwashing their classmates and not subjecting them to a Mutual Killing Game, Mukuro felt betrayed and heartbroken. It didn't help that most of the class gets killed off as a result. After some help from Akira, she finally puts her foot down and fought against her sister (despite still caring for her).
  • Child Soldier: She has trained in the Fenrir Mercenary Corps since childhood, and now she's the Ultimate Soldier in her teen age.
  • Cuteness Proximity: When she received the Usami keychain, she couldn't throw it away like most of the students because it was cute. Even her report card lampshades that she likes cute things. It turns out she is a girl.
  • Get a Hold of Yourself, Woman! / Happily Failed Suicide: When Mukuro tried to kill herself after losing all hope from losing Makoto and her class, Akira throws away her weapon, grabs her by her collar, slaps her, and shouts at her to get a grip. It works, but Mukuro paid back the slap and shouting by punching him in the stomach, nearly breaking at least five of his ribs.
  • Gun Nut: It is suggested since one of her likes, according to her report card, are weaponry.
  • It's All My Fault: She blames herself for not stopping her sister Junko, who caused the Tragedy, created the Ultimate Despair/Remnants of Despair, and killed so many people (including her classmates).
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Her memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game. That was a lie, she was among the few people who entered the game with all her memories.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: She is Junko Enoshima's twin sister, a member of the Ultimate Despair, and has a big crush on Makoto Naegi.
  • Luminescent Blush: She suffers this whenever it has something to do with her crush, Makoto Naegi. Because her skin is so pale and pasty, her blush is extremely noticable.
  • Meaningful Name: Her first name is written in hiragana but "Mukuro" (as the Chinese character 躯) means "corpse" while the kanji for "Ikusaba" (戦刃) mean "war blade" or, sometimes, "battlefield". Which is indicative to her former life as a soldier for hire, and her talent for killing.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Besides being called the "Ultimate Soldier", she is also called the "Ultimate Killing Machine".
  • Not So Stoic: She may appear cold at the start of the story, but it became obvious her emotions were becoming transparent when she found out that her sister lied to her about not sending her classmates in a Mutual Killing Game. But more so on the fact that the Makoto in this game was killed because of Junko.
  • Oh, Crap!: Her reaction when she realized she may have stolen Akira's first kiss from Nodaka. She's lucky that she didn't.
Mukuro: "Oh God, Hoshi might end up killing me by the end of this."
  • Red Baron: She is not just the Ultimate Soldier, she is the Ultimate Killing Machine.
  • Ship Tease: Monokuma revealed her feelings for Makoto.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Nodaka calls her this when she correctly guessed that Mukuro dug through Makoto's clothes, not to look for evidence, but because she wanted to. Mukuro blushed and made excuses on how she wasn't doing that specific action.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Beigoma lampshaded it. She only began opening up thanks to Makoto, and now she's beginning to open up to Akira. Beigoma hopes Mukuro can find a new love interest who would help her open up even further.
  • Yandere: Sort of, for a moment. She 'did' go into a rampage in destroying Monokuma (whom she thought was being controlled by Junko at the time) when she blamed him for killing Makoto.
  • Youthful Freckles: She's one of the few characters in the Danganronpa universe who have freckles.

    Yasuke Matsuda
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yasuke.jpg

Ultimate Neurologist

"My name is Yasuke Matsuda and like I said before I have a doctorate grade talent. And while ugly, clueless Jagaimo-chan is an eye doctor, I'm a doctor who specializes in the brain. I'm the Ultimate Neurologist, and I'm not to be taken lightly... What? I gave you my name and my title, isn't that enough?"

He is a genius and a jerk who was responsible for creating the system behind erasing people's memories. He was Junko's childhood friend and Ryoko's sweetheart, as seen in Danganronpa Zero. He was killed when Ryoko regained her memories as Junko Enoshima and murdered him in a fit of rage, yet he somehow appears in this game. What is he up to this time? And what does he know for that matter?

He is a canon character from the Hope's Peak Academy Saga of the Danganronpa series.

  • Berserk Button: When Aya doesn't shut up after she goes into her Motor Mouth mode, he will snap at her without restraint if necessary.
  • Brutal Honesty: He doesn't sugarcoat anything he says.
  • Covert Pervert: Junko caught Yasuke staring at her bust. The Ultimate Deva personality of Soshun tells him he can relate.
  • Gone Horribly Right: He was studying ways of erasing memories in order to help cure Ryoko's amnesia. Sadly, the Ultimate Despairs stole those notes for their plans and ended up using his technology on him and the others.
  • Idiot Hair: He has an ahoge.
  • Insufferable Genius: He's got a bad temper. He's rude and mean. Oh, and he's an expert in the field of neurology.
  • Jerkass: As if it isn't enough that his appearance gives off a "I don't give a shit" attitude.
    • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: However, he cares about others and likes helping people even if he doesn't admit it. Even his report card confirms this!
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: If you bothered to check up Danganronpa:Zero, you would already know about his memory-manipulating techniques and his connections to a certain Ryoko Otonashi.
  • Meaningful Name: "Yasuke" (夜助) is composed of (夜) - "evening" or "night" and (助) - meaning "help" or "rescue" which most likely refers to the fact that he attempted to protect Junko Enoshima from being caught as the Mastermind and all the while as he attempted to keep her from regaining her memories for the purpose of preventing the following events of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc.
  • Otaku: He likes reading manga, despite his 'not giving a shit about anything' personality.
  • Out Of Sight Outof Mind: His "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Inception".
  • The Pig-Pen: Not only those he wear the same clothes without washing them for days (not bothering to have it washed or changed even after it gets stained by his own blood after getting beaten up by Monokuma, he doesn't take a shower everyday.
  • Ship Tease: He likes Ryoko to the point that he studied ways involving memory erasure in order to solve the girl's amnesia problems.
    • Ship Sinking: However, the Mastermind pointed out that Ryoko has lost her memories of him completely because of the Mastermind's meddling with the amnesia girl's diaries.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Being an Insufferable Genius, it's no surprise that he thinks everyone else as dumber than him.
  • Workaholic: And his report card that confirms his like for his work as a neurologist isn't the only evidence to suggest this.

    Keiko Akasaka

Ultimate Croupier

"I am known as the Ultimate Croupier and am quite skilled at the art of card dealing and gambling. There's no one in the world who can go toe to toe with me without losing their life savings in entirety. Of this I can assure you, so don't think you can dare win a single Yen off of sweet little old me or you will suffer quite a thrashing."

She is a master of card playing and a rival of Celestia Ludenberg (aka Taeko Yasuhiro). She has studied in Las Vegas and develops a bad foreign accent.

She is an Original Character from one of the fanfiction's contributors and viewers, "dashunterman".

  • The Big Damn Kiss: First, there was that French kiss she received from Junko (dressed up as Celestia). Then later on, she gives one to Connie, and trust me, it was pretty big 'cause it was also a French kiss.
  • Color Motif: According to her report card, her favorite color is blue. It also mentions that she hates the color green, which interestingly is the hair color of Connie (a girl she likes).
  • Cuteness Proximity: She likes cute girls... as if THAT wasn't obvious enough, even without her report card stating that.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She used to have a very committed relationship with someone for a long time when she lived in America. But it ended very badly. As a result, she's scared of getting into a serious relationship with anyone else because she doesn't want it happening again to her. This is what led her to be flirtatious with multiple girls rather than directed to one specific person.
  • Does Not Like Spam: According to her Character Profile in Maestro Infinite's Home Page (in the Fanfiction.net), Keiko Akasaka dislikes fish fillets.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Her memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Meaningful Name: Keiko’s first name has meanings for each syllable as well. "Kei-" is written as (慶) which means "jubilation, or happiness", which is probably referring to Keiko’s whimsical nature. And "-Ko" is written (冴) which means "skillful", which is probably referring to her talent as the Ultimate Croupier. And the last part of her last name "-Saka" is written as (栄) which means "flourish", which is again probably referring to her whimsical nature.
  • Ship Tease: One with Keiko liking Celeste, then another flirting tease with both Aya and Azami, and another tease with her heavy shipping with Connie. She is, as Jonathan says, a predatorial lez.
  • Thinking Out Loud: She does this by accident when she thought out loud how smart and cute Connie is in the Prologue class trial.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Also according to her Character Profile, Keiko Akasaka likes meatball submarine sandwiches.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Her report card says she dislikes slugs, suggesting she is afraid of them.
  • Yuri Genre: One of her likes happens to be cute girls. There's also the fact that she liked the French kiss she received from Junko, who was at the time pretending to be Celeste. Even after finding out that she kissed Junko, she still admitted that she liked the kiss. Then there's the heavy shipping between her and Connie.

    Shiro Shirobane

Ultimate Set Designer

"My talent is more of a behind closed doors talent, or I guess in my case behind the curtain. Nobody sees me whenever we have a performance, they just see my work and I let that speak for me."

He is a handsome and athletic-looking boy who specializes in making realistic backgrounds for plays and shows. He's also a great puzzler solver.

He is an Original Character from one of the fanfiction's contributors and viewers, "The Rose Shadow 21".

  • Alliterative Name: Shiro Shirobane.
  • Color Motif: His report card says he likes bright colors.
  • Does Not Like Spam: According to his Character Profile in Maestro Infinite's Home Page (in the Fanfiction.net), Shiro Shirobane doesn't like most fruits, fishes, and peanuts.
  • Expy: His love and understanding for puzzles reminds his extracurricular classmates of Jigsaw from "Saw". Similarly, it also reminds people of Zero from the "Zero Escape" series.
  • Fear of Thunder: Suggested since his report card says he dislikes rain & thunderstorms.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Meaningful Name: Shiro’s first name is written (白) which means "white". And his last name "Shirobane" is written (白羽) which means "white feather", clearly white is very important for Shiro.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: After the Prologue class trial his extracurricular classmates compared him to Jigsaw from the movie Saw.
  • Nice Guy: He tends to act nice and playful to everyone, as he typically calls everyone a shortened version of their name with the "-chan" honorific attached to it.
  • Otaku: He is a fan towards puzzles and puzzle-based franchises like games or shows.
  • Out of Sight, Out of Mind: His "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Break a Leg".
  • Pretty Boy: According to Akira, Shiro's symmetrical features make him look handsome.
  • Repetitive Name: Shiro Shirobane.
  • Shout-Out: His love and expertise with puzzles got Yasuke to lampshade him as Jigsaw from Saw.
  • Sweet Tooth: Believed so because his report card says he likes chocolate.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: His report card says he likes chocolate and bananas.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: His report card also mentions he dislikes fishes, spiders, bears and rain & thunderstorms. So, it suggests he may have a fear to one, some, or all of them. (And if he is afraid of bears, it doesn't help him that he is watched over by Monokuma, Halokuma, and Diablokuma)...

    Jonathan Junmaru

Ultimate Procrastinator

"When you don't want to focus on one thing you have the capability to focus on a whole bunch of things in order to keep your mind occupied. In other words, doing this I'm able to see everything at once."

He is a master of spotting miniscule details that others often overlook due to his extreme manner of nitpickiness and fastidiousness. He is also a neat freak and has the insatiable need to clean everything he finds dirty, but it's mostly used as an excuse for him to procrastinate.

He is an Original Character from one of the fanfiction's contributors and viewers, "Mechblade 007".

  • Absurd Phobia: His fear of germs and being infected by them.
  • Afraid of Blood: More like he hates it because he finds it filthy.
  • Alliterative Name: Jonathan Junmaru.
  • Awesome by Analysis / Hyper-Awareness: His talent: being able to spot the most overlooked details. This was useful in more than one occasion for the murders. Jose even compares his prowess to that of Sherlock Holmes who was also a master at spotting insignificant details.
  • Berserk Button: He goes ballistic whenever he sees anything dirty, messy, or disgusting. The earliest example would be Sawa walking barefooted.
  • Big Eater: Suggested since his report card says he likes food.
  • Brutal Honesty: Probably as much as Yasuke in terms of not sugarcoating anything he says.
  • Catchphrase: "Idiot", what he likes to call people.
  • Chekhov's Gun: His ability to spot easily overlooked details become important for finding important details and evidences for the Class Trial, ranging from a picture that is out of place among a collage to someone's ahoge pointing in the wrong direction from where it should be pointing (making this person an imposter).
  • Crippling Overspecialization: His ability to be aware of everything minuscule led him to notice germs and messes a little to much...
  • Enraged by Idiocy: Though he thinks everyone but himself is an idiot due to his Insufferable Genius statues, his frustrations are sometimes justifiable when certain students do obviously stupid things.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Quite the opposite. He is the one who spots whatever everyone else fails to notice. The only one who can spot details that even he doesn't notice is Beigoma, and she spots them without realizing it!
  • Insufferable Genius: He is good at spotting details that people normally miss. In fact, he's so good that he thinks he's better than everyone and would call them idiots.
  • Jerkass: He is way too prideful and he acts like everyone else is lower than him.
    • Jerkass with a Heart of Gold: However, there are times when he does show genuine care and concerns for others, even to Sawa, whom he acts the most aggressive to (due to his Neat Freak nature acting against her walking barefooted).
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Meaningful Name: "Jonathan" is a name in which each syllable holds a meaning (助無賛). "Jo-" (助) means "help", "Na-" (無) means "none, or nothing", and "-San" (since there is no th- sound in Japanese) (賛) means "praise". So translated all together it could mean something along the lines of "his help receives nothing but praise" since his procrastination ability comes in handy quite a lot. And "Junmaru" (淳丸) as a whole can translate to something along the lines of "purely round" which if you think about it could be referring to Jonathan’s character, meaning that there’s more than one side to him.
  • Neat Freak: He has a terrible phobia and hate of germs. He cleans like crazy in order to feel in control, and he always carries a hygenic mask to keep away the germs. A comedic example is how much he stays away from Sawa because she walks around barefooted and therefore is at higher risk for tetanus and other filthy diseases.
  • The Nicknamer: He calls everyone by the first or first-two syllables of their first name. His reasoning for shortening their names is because he considers remembering their names a hassle and a waste of time.
  • Out of Sight, Out of Mind: His "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Distractions, Distractions".
  • Ship Tease: With Sawa.
  • Super-Senses: His ability to spot overlooked details mean his visual awareness is nothing to sneeze at.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: It doesn't help that he calls everyone else an idiot, to the point of being a Catchphrase.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: With Byakuya Togami. They are intelligent and mentally skilled, yet he's also a complete jerk and a prick. They treat others as beneath them and treat themselves as someone so high and mighty. In addition, the both of them happen to be wearing glasses.
  • Terrified of Germs: This trope name says it all. Just look at his Neat Freak trope above.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: His terrible phobia towards anything with germs, dirt, messes, and the like. His report card also mentions he hates bugs, suggesting that he has fears them because of his germ phobia.

    Jose Historia

Ultimate Historian

"H-History is im-important, wh-what if we al-all sud-suddenly di-died? There would b-be no one le-left to tell our sto-story to. So I wr-write everything down just in case s-something happ-happens."

He is a mystery-loving boy who dresses up like Sherlock Holmes. He always carries with him a leatherbound journal to write down everything that happens in order to preserve history.

He possesses a Split Personality (not "Dissociative Identity Disorder" [DID]) where he can change between a shy & friendly persona during moments of peace, and a confident & arrogant prick during serious situations.

He is an Original Character from one of the fanfiction's contributors and viewers, "hirowriter".

  • Amateur Sleuth: His ability to solve cases is no small fleet, both in mystery novels and in the Mutual Killing Game cases. It can even give the "Ultimate Detective", Kyoko Kirigiri, a run for her money.
  • The Battle Didn't Count: In the first Class Trial, Akira successful pointed out the possibility of a piece of evidence being a Red Herring in a "Non-Stop Debate" since that Class Trial contained a lot of them, only for Jose to casually shoot it down as it lacks any solid evidence to back it up.
  • Berserk Button: Mess with his 'beloved' books and he will lose it.
  • Bookworm: He is one heck of a written-literacy lover. He even says that written works beat technology-based literacy any day.
  • Badass Bookworm: His reading of countless mystery novels has allowed him to develop some amazing mystery solving skills, perfect for the Mutual Killing Game.
  • Catchphrase: Whenever something unexpected happens, whenever a plot twist occurs, expect Jose to exclaim "Unprecedented".
  • Character Tics: Writing in his journal. It's his Ultimate title hazard.
  • Constantly Curious: The end result of being a historian who likes to write down everything.
  • Creepy Child: As an orphan, he was seen as odd and creepy by most adults because he wouldn't talk willingly and he always had his nose buried in a book.
  • Cynicism Catalyst: Finding out that the senseless murders he reads from his mystery novels also occur in reality.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Being abandoned by his parents at a young age, and not being adopted because of his isolation resulted in his only true friends being books. But he soon realized that the insane and absurd murders from mystery novels also occur in real life. This and who knows what else led him to lose faith in humanity itself.
  • A Day in the Limelight: He has one in "Chapter 1, Part 8: Trusting Each Other is Hard To Do".
  • Escapism: He reads books in order to escape the reality of him being Jose Historia, a lonely and isolated orphan, to become the main character of each book he reads and help him forget his troubles for a little while. He admits this at one point, saying that he's accustomed to being alone and uses books to become someone else.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Two cases. He may find nothing weird with memory gaps as being absent within a period of time is a cliche in mystery novels (so he's more concern with the correct date for his records), but even he is finding the idea of having one's memories erased too hard to swallow. Also, while he is willing to use lies in order to get the truth, he hates the idea of taking someone's life.
  • Fan Boy: Since he is a fan of Sherlock Holmes.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Real life memory gaps in real life, even for seven years, isn't weird to him since that's a cliche for mystery stories. Also, he isn't disturbed or find it awkward when he sees Connie and Keiko having an intense and long French kiss because he has seen a 'lot' of mystery novels containing lesbian themes... Seriously, is that true?
  • Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: Though the motives of any killer makes sense on ink and paper, he can't understand why the murderers would still go through with murder despite there being as many reasons not to do it as there are to do it. He believes life is sacred, so he is repulsed with the idea of killing someone.
  • Height Angst: The poor guy isn't happy when some people call him "shorty" or mock his size. Though he doesn't let it get to him too much and just grumbles.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Cam.
  • History Repeats / Hoist by His Own Petard: His "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Doomed to Repeat It".
  • Hopeless with Tech: He's terrible with computers.
  • Humans Are Flawed: He believes this because humanity pretty much do all those horrible murders and the like straight from the fictional stories that he reads. Doesn't help that there's the Steering Committee, the Ultimate Despair & the Remnants of Despair, Future Foundation, the Warriors of Hope, those adults from Towa City... and that list goes on...
  • Innocence Lost: Blame his Dark and Troubled Past for that.
  • Insufferable Genius: When his second personality kicks in, he would even mess with the investigation or Class Trial just in order to further his goals. Even Jonathan pointed it out.
Jonathan: "Are you telling me all that was just a dumb little act to confuse the hell out of us?!"
Jose: "Pretty much, yeah. It was effective though, right?"
    Jonathan: "You're insufferable."
  • I Should Write a Book About This: Jose is recording everything that's happening in the Mutual Killing Game in his journal in order to 'preserve' history.
  • Jade-Colored Glasses: Finding out that the senseless murders he reads from mystery novels are happening in real life was a big eye-opener for him. It led him to begin seeing humanity's weakness in being so cowardly and foolish as to commit crimes like murder.
  • Jerkass: He becomes like this when his second personality kicks in.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Meaningful Name: "Jose" is written (保世) which means "to preserve the world", which is referring to his talent as the Ultimate Historian. And "Historia" is simply written as (歴) which means "personal history", which is again self-explanatory.
  • Motor Mouth: It happens when he is talking about literary works (or important documents) and his thoughts on the crime.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Jose claims this about him and Beigoma because they are Bookworms.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Pulls this one during the 1st Class Trial. He pretends to be convinced that a Red Herring is a real piece of evidence, as well as pretends to be convince that Asahina is Hajime's killer, in order to test the other students' abilities and help them solve the murder. One has to admit, he got good bluffing skills...
  • Parental Abandonment: He was abandoned by his parents while he was too young to remember anything. This bitter experience is what lead him to see nothing but darkness in people's hearts.
  • Photographic Memory: His memory is so good, he can remember every word from a long document perfectly.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: How his split personality works. He changes from a timid and shy child to a cynic and dark individual whenever the situation is dire.
  • The Only One I Trust: He has some serious trust issues because of his Dark and Troubled Past. He can't fully trust anyone, not even his friend Cam. The only person he seems to trust was a bullied boy that he saw from the school next to his orphanage in his childhood. This slowly subverts when Akira convinces Jose to try to put some faith in his classmates.
  • The Rival: Akira thinks of him as one.
  • Shorter Means Smarter: The guy is a shorter version of Sherlock Holmes!
  • Shout-Out: The very fact he dresses up as Sherlock Holmes is one.
  • Skewed Priorities: Also leans on But for Me, It Was Tuesday territory, as he isn't that disturbed with the revelation that he and his classmates seem to have a memory gap of seven years because it's actually a common cliche in mystery novels, hence he is only seemed concerned that he may have been using the wrong date for his current records at the time. However, even he is unhinged from the idea that their memory gap is caused by memory alteration.
  • Smoking Is Cool: Averted. He seems to only wear a smoking pipe attached with a nylon rope as a necklace for show.
  • Speech Impediment: He stutters when he's in his timid state. Though, he loses it when he switches places with his more serious one.
  • Split Personality: He is timid and kind when everything is calm, but when shit hits the fan, his personality becomes cynical, calculating, and cold.
  • Squee: Jose became more than excited when he got access to the secret documents and cold cases in Hope's Peak Academy's archive room.
  • Techno Wizard: Subverted. He is very bad with computers.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: He gives one to Akira, but the topic was about how weak, stupid, and cowardly most of humanity is.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: He can't forgive anyone who would commit murder for whatever reason because he believes all life is sacred.
  • Took a Level in Cynic: His cynical secondary personality originates from his revelation in seeing humanity in a dark light due to it's weakness.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: His report card says he likes milk and cookies.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: His report card says he dislikes cats, suggesting he may fear them.
  • Write What You Know: He writes down and records 'everything' he witnesses in order to preserve it for the world.

    Cam Yano

Ultimate AV Technician

"You don't understand what things are like in my world. We techies all come from different backgrounds and we all have our different stories, but one thing... one thing, unites us all. Our love of technology! And several programs that made us techies rethink the way we viewed computers and all electronics were given to us by the one who the fabled underground of the cyber plane refer to as the mother of all programming, Eve."

He was the president of Hope's Peak Academy's AV club. And he is also a big fan of Chihiro's work as a programmer.

He is an Original Character of the fanfiction's writer, "Maestro Infinite".

  • Berserk Button: He doesn't like it when someone makes fun of Chihiro Fujisaki, his crush whom he wants to marry (since he doesn't know Chihiro's a boy).
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Jose.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: His memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Love at First Sight: Sort of. He fell in love with Chihiro the moment he saw his programming work.
  • Make Me Wanna Shout: His "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "I'm a Genius, You Know".
  • Meaningful Name: Cam’s first name is written (花芽) which means "flower bud", probably as a pun on how scrawny he is. And his last name "Yano" is written (野濃) which means "plains" and "thick" respectively.
    • Cam's first name, also comes from the word "camera", which is related to his work as an AV Technician. And his last name "Yano" is a play on the phrase, "you know", which is mostly uses at the end of his sentences.
  • Moment Killer: He and Chihiro do this after the moment was over, being that kiss between Akira and Nodaka.
  • Mysterious Past: According to Akira, he finds Cam to be familiar, but he doesn't know why.
  • Nice Guy: As it says on the tin.
  • Otaku: He is one towards machines and robots.
  • Ship Tease: He fell in love with Chihiro after seeing his program work. Too bad he doesn't know Chihiro is boy pretending to be a girl.
  • Shorter Means Smarter: Just like Chihiro, he is a short computer expert.
  • Skewed Priorities: Really, you and Connie can go marveling over how amazing the "Monobeasts" and their ability to combine into a freaking large robot called "Monobeast King Fighter Supreme" while every other Extracurricular Course student panics over how those same robots can kill them... Seriously, what's wrong with you two robot otakus?
  • Squee: It's bad enough that he confesses his love for Chihiro (whom he thought was a girl), but he even tried to propose to the poor programmer!
  • Techno Wizard: He 'was' the head of Hope's Peak Academy's AV club for a reason.
  • Verbal Tic: He often adds the phrase, "you know", at the end of his sentences.

    Nodaka Hoshi

(Real Name: Nodaka Nakatsukaze)

Ultimate Maid (Supposedly)

Forbidden Action/Lock: Memento Lock - Removing the owner's memento/keepsake. In Nodaka's case, removing her necklace.

"But here you are willing to talk to someone about all of it. A sign of weakness. If I were in your shoes I probably wouldn't be willing to talk to anyone, I'd keep all my emotions inside and cork them up real tight in the bottle to make sure they didn't leak out. You're the exact opposite of me cockroach boy, you wear your heart and emotions on your sleeves. No grace or elegance at all."

She is a tough girl who is Akira's childhood friend and sweetheart. She may seem rough to everyone, but she is more or less nice deep down.

She is an Original Character of the fanfiction's writer, "Maestro Infinite".

  • Affectionate Nickname: Akira calls her "Noutaku", which is based on her first name "Nodaka" and the Japanese word for 'luster' (koutaku).
  • Anguished Declaration of Love: She gives off billboards versions of hints of her love for Akira during the Prologue because of her Tsundere status.
  • Berserk Button: Never use her name in a casual or friendly manner. She prefers honorifics. But why has not yet been cleared up. Also, don't get too close to her love Akira, unless you want to be physically beaten down.
  • Break the Cutie: Realizing that her memories were tempered by the Mastermind. She doesn't know who she really is, or even if she's an Ultimate Despair or a traitor.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: With Akira.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She gets way too jealous whenever Akira gets close to another girl, no matter the reason.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She lost her parents in a car accident when she was still a child. She was alone from there for quite some time.
  • A Day in the Limelight: She has one in "Chapter 1, Part 7: The Boy with His Head in the Clouds and The Girl with Stars in Her Eyes".
  • Happily Failed Suicide: She nearly committed 'harakiri' (stabbing herself in the stomach). Fortunately for her, Akira found her and stopped her by giving her The Big Damn Kiss.
  • Death Glare: She has given them to several people for several reasons.
  • Dual Wielding: Her "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Maid Rules".
  • Expy: A Tsundere maid... Hmm... Can anyone else think of anyone other than Misaki Ayuzawa from "Maid Sama!"?
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Her memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game. The problem here is that she also has fake memories implanted in her, so most of her life's memories got altered. Only her childhood with Akira is confirmed to be genuine. Needless to say, things are getting more suspicious about Nodaka by the minute.
  • Meaningful Name: "Nodaka" is another name in which each syllable has several meanings. "No-" is an irregular pronunciation of "Nou" (悩)which means "suffering", "Da-" in this context means "break", and "-Ka" in this context means song. So all together her name can roughly translate to "the song of suffering breaks". And her last name "Hoshi" (法師) as a whole means "star" referring to her love of stars. Her real name however, "Nakatsukaze" (中強風) as a whole means "within the strong wind".
  • Mysterious Past: Akira finds Nodaka familiar, but he doesn't know why. That is until it is revealed that Akira and Nodaka are childhood sweethearts.
  • The Nicknamer: She nicknames several people reflecting on who they are. Most of them are usually insulting. Though, later on, she tries to stop it.
  • Official Couple: With Akira.
  • Orphan's Ordeal: The poor girl lost her parents at a young age from a car accident. After that, she was all alone for a long while and believed that the world had taken everything and everyone close to her and she had become nothing.
  • Parental Abandonment: She lost both her parents in a car accident, leaving her an orphan with no known living relatives.
  • Say My Name: Since the start of the story, she has been calling Akira "cockroach boy". However, when Monokuma revealed that her master Hitomi Kuzuryuu/Natsumi Kuzuryuu is dead and Akira knew this, she started to beg Akira to tell her that Monokuma is lying. Her begging reached the point where she stopped calling Akira "cockroach boy" in mid-sentence and begged him by calling him by his name. Akira was suffering a lot with having to face Nodaka with such a cruel truth, even more so when Nodaka started calling him by his name.
    • After the first Class Trial and reconciling with Akira, she calls Akira by his name and tries to do the same with everyone else.
  • Ship Tease: With Akira, until they became an Official Couple.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: She acts arrogant and cruel, but she also possesses some kindness and a soft spot, especially for Akira.
  • Tsundere: She is one to Akira, but don't call her that. She hates being called a tsundere.

    Azami Jagaimo

Ultimate Oculist

"You should be nicer to Jagaimo-chan, she'll have you know that she is in fact one of those oculists who practice hypnosis, and she's quite good at it too hebi. If you're not careful she could play a trick on you hebi~."

She is a girl who dresses and sometimes even acts as a cat. She is a specialist for the eyes, and even claims to know hypnosis. She adds -hebi at the end of each of her sentences.

She is an Original Character from one of the fanfiction's contributors and viewers, "Shyjoker".

  • Animal Motifs: With cats, since she dresses up like one and acts like one, too.
    • However, she is also this with snakes because her birthday (July 16th) is snake's day, and her background during her appearance in the Opening chapter is a green background of a snake (along with a suggestion from the Opening that her snake background is suppose to symbolize her speech pattern... hebi).
  • Berserk Button: It is very rare to see Azami get angry, but there certain things that can get her riled up. One of these are stealing her notes on hypnosis (as done by Junko.
  • Cat Girl: She isn't really half-cat, half-girl. She just acts like a cat and wears a black cat-ear hairband along with white cat hair clips.
  • The Ditz: Her naivety, silliness, sweetness, and innocence that has made problems for everyone.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Her report card says she dislikes tea flavorings.
  • Genki Girl: She pretty much acts hyper, especially with the fact that she acts a bit like a cat.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: She keeps her things inside her undergarments because she doesn't have any pockets in her skirt. She casually takes it out in front of people while they can see her digging through her undergarments.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Her memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Meaningful Name: Azami’s first name is written (技未) and as a whole means "an underhanded trick has yet to come". And her last name is written(馬鈴薯) and as a whole means "potato", which is a very odd name to say the least.
  • The Nicknamer: She nicknames everyone using Japanese words that reflect on the people's persona and info.
  • Single-Stroke Battle: But with claws! This is pretty much more or less how her "Rapid Doubt Annihilation" special move, "Cat-astrophe Hebi", goes.
  • Third-Person Person: She always calls herself Azami-tan.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Her report card says she likes to eat meat, sakura mochi, and mochi ice cream.
  • Verbal Tic: Adding -hebi at the end of each sentence.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Her report card says she doesn't like dogs, suggesting she is scared of them (makes sense since she is dressed up like a cat).

Other Characters

    The Mastermind
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/monokuma.png
As Monokuma

Ultimate Despair

"Unlike you, I'm not doing these horrible things for fun. The despair I shall create is all for the sake of my revenge."

The main antagonist of Ultimate Danganronpa 3: Despair's Final Challenge. They use Monokuma in order to interact and communicate with the Extracurricular students.

The Monokuma Unit aside, the Mastermind is an Original Character of the fanfiction's writer "Maestro Infinite".

  • Bears Are Bad News: The Mastermind uses Monokuma, Danganronpa's evil mascot, in order to interact with the game.
  • Berserk Button: Despite being under the influence of the Despair Anime's brainwashing, they still possess a strong hatred towards Junko and the Ultimate Despair. Sadly, the same can be said for practically everyone connected to Hope's Peak Academy, innocent or not.
  • Best Served Cold: The Mastermind's goal is to get revenge at everyone who has ever wronged them or made them suffer. And the list of people they blamed practically covers everyone who is involved with Hope's Peak Academy.
  • Big Bad: They are addressed as the 'mastermind' of this deathly and horrible game for a reason.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Sometimes at the beginning and/or at the end of a chapter, the Mastermind (via Monokuma) will appear and talk to the Danganronpa universe's audience, the readers, or both. They would even talk with the author of the fanfiction.
  • Break the Cutie: They had a perfect and happy life, until Junko and the Ultimate Despair ruined their whole life and took everything from them.
  • Butt-Monkey: Not that common, but the Mastermind suffers from being the butt of the joke at times. Like this one moment from "Chapter 1, Part 14":
    'Nate: "Honestly, yeah?"
  • The Chessmaster: This Mutual Killing Game isn't Junko's game this time. It is the Mastermind's game, and they did a LOT of work to make it happen.
  • A Day in the Limelight: They have one in "Chapter 1, Part 16: Sector 1 Exploration, Part 1 - The Rotten Stench of Despair".
  • The Dog Bites Back: The Mastermind has more than enjoyed betraying Junko after losing everything because of her. Being brainwashed, have their love ones killed or brainwashed, losing everything that had brought them happiness... It's no wonder the Mastermind had such a huge grudge against Junko and prepared everything so that she suffered the worst way possible, even as far as execute her slowly with over thirty Punishment Times before she died!
  • Dreadful Musician: The Mastermind sang "I'll Be There For You" by The Rembrandts in such a terrible manner. It's unsure if this fellow is tone-deaf or he sang badly on purpose due to the "Death Scavenger Hunt" scenario is gave to the Extracurricular Course students during their first investigation (and maybe also to downright get of the students' nerves).
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: The Mastermind had friends and a family that they cherished before they were all taken away by the Tragedy, Junko, and the Ultimate Despair.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Even if the Mastermind hated Junko enough that they had people try to rape her in her execution (and because it fitted well as Akane's personal execution, due to her gluttony and denseness towards perverseness), he censored it all because even they don't find rape to be funny or acceptable.
  • Foil: To Junko Enoshima. The two of them are very calculated and would do everything at hand to achieve their goals. The two also happen to be spreading despair. However, while Junko spreads despair because of her boredom, the Mastermind spreads despair for the sake of their revenge. In addition, while Junko sides with despair, the Mastermind sides with nothingness (as they hate both hope and despair).
  • I Let You Win: The Mastermind has to help out the Extracurricular Course students in their investigation for the first Class Trial by creating a scavenger hunt that will help reveal the identities of the suspects who couldn't have committed the murder because they killed themselves off prior to the murder. Of course the Mastermind would have no choice but to assist with the investigation because it would be bad for the Mastermind if everyone was killed off at the start of the Killing Game since they still need to use them to get revenge.
  • Killer Teddy Bear: Once again, the Mastermind is using 'Monokuma', a deadly and powerful robotic teddy bear. Well... more accurately, they are using a 'lot' of these robots.
  • Madness Mantra: What was the Mastermind thinking when they made the 21st Extracurricular Student read a book that mostly contain the phrase, "I am nothing", repeating over and over again like a Broken Record? Guess it was meant to be a Foreshadowing on the password for the that electronically locked exit door (or make that exit vault) of Hope's Peak Academy.
  • Mind Rape: Yeah, they were brainwashed by Junko's Despair Anime.
  • No Kill like Overkill / Cruel and Unusual Death: These pretty much what sums up the Mastermind's Punishment Time (or Monokuma's executions in general). The execution that fits these tropes the most would be "The Ultimate Punishment Redux".
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: The purpose of the Despairidise Killing Game is to denounce Future Foundation and the Remnants of Despair as villains, by any means possible. They have no problems making all their enemies suffer even more than they have suffered.
  • The Power of Hate: Just look at how far the Mastermind was able to pull of just from being driven by their hatred towards hope and despair.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: The Mastermind doesn't find rape funny nor acceptable. In fact, they even went as far as lampshade it that both them and The Creator Maestro Infinite find rapists to be lower than Nagito, hence lower than trash.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Through Diablokuma and Halokuma, on why Future Foundation is just as bad as the Ultimate Despair.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: As Monokuma, their right eye is red. And if we judge on the fact that they are both an Ultimate Despair and brainwashed by the Despair Anime, their real eyes might be red as well.
  • Revenge: Their whole reason for starting the Despairadise game was to get revenge on everyone who was responsible for their suffering. This is practically anyone connected to Hope's Peak Academy, because they were connected to the cause of the Tragedy, the Ultimate Despair, Future Foundation, or even something personal to the Mastermind themselves..
The Mastermind: (via Monokuma) "Unlike you, I'm not doing these horrible things for fun. The despair I shall create is all for the sake of my revenge."
  • Sealed Evil in a Teddy Bear: Come on, the Mastermind is using Monokuma. What did you expect?
  • Series Mascot: He's using Monokuma, just like every other past main antagonist of the main Danganronpa stories.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: The Mastermind gets pissed by Junko Enoshima's psychopathic and maniacal laugh. So they proceed to trap Junko to the Monokuma throne chair with metal braces, which restrained her by the arms, legs, and neck (which chokes her, making it difficult to breath or talk). They then proceed to give explain their betrayal: they SERIOUSLY hated her and want nothing more than to kill her multiple times.
  • Signature Laugh: "Upupupupu".
  • Slasher Smile: That evil smile on Monokuma's left side.
  • Sympathetic Murderer: They are pushing students into killing each other and then executing the losers of the Class Trials. As horrible as it is, you can't help but feel sorry for the Mastermind because they are doing this to get revenge on the Remnant of Despair and Future Foundation for all the suffering the have done to them.
  • Take a Third Option: The Mastermind hates both hope and despair because of how destructive the Future Foundation and the Ultimate Despairs have proven to be in their seemingly endless war. So they decided to reject both ideals that the world was forced to choose and instead choose to beleive in "nothing".
  • Unreliable Expositor: The very fact that something is wrong with the history of the story, despite being canon to the entire main Danganronpa series, is proof enough that the Mastermind isn't being truthful to the latest main cast. Then there are all those misinterpreted messages and lies.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: They want to denounce the Remnants of Despair and Future Foundation for all the suffering they have inflict on the Mastermind and many other people by using the Mutual Killing Game.

    The 21st Student

Ultimate ???

"Utter nonsense, and then... Even more nonsense. No answers at all. I don't know what I was expecting."

The other main protagonist of Ultimate Danganronpa 3: Despair's Final Challenge. They are an unknown individual who first appeared anonymously in Chapter 1. They will reveal themselves in Chapter 2 according the fanfic's author.

They are an Original Character of the fanfiction's writer, "Maestro Infinite".

  • Awesome by Analysis: They seem to have pretty good conservation skills, as they were able to analyze the cast in detail from just a security camera's footage.
  • The Ghost: Until someone from the Extracurricular Course dies and the second Class Trial is concluded, they will not be able to be revealed.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Their memories were erased, as expected from Danganronpa's Mutual Killing Game.
  • Madness Mantra: You cannot really blame this guy for being annoyed from having to read the Mastermind's book, filled mostly with that "I am nothing" phrase that just keeps on repeating. And repeating. AND REPEATING.
  • The Stoic: They aren't that easy to unnerve, even after being suddenly confronted by Monokuma for the first time. The Mastermind ended up being the one to be unnerved by this.

    Halokuma

Moderator of Shining Future

"You'll have to excuse my twin brother, he's been rambunctious since we were kids and I've always had to keep him in his place. He's a firm believer in chaos and violence which is why he's always playing such mischievous tricks on the innocent. But do not fear, for I the noble ally of justice, Halokuma shall prevent any mischief that crosses my path!"

One of the moderators of Ultimate Danganronpa 3: Despair's Final Challenge. He looks after the "Shining Future" Group. He is a robotic angel-based teddy bear. He is Diablokuma's twin brother and Monokuma's younger brother.

He is an Original Character of the fanfiction's writer, "Maestro Infinite".

  • Cool Mask: He has a red visor-like eyepiece.
  • Crazy-Prepared: He brought cue cards to use for the explanation about the situation the cast was in. His twin brother is bugged by it.
Diablokuma: Bro, sometimes your constant over preparedness just bugs me.
  • Good Angel, Bad Angel: The Good Angel to Diablokuma's Bad Angel.
  • Holy Halo: He has a halo built over his head.
  • One-Way Visor: It's his eyes!
  • Our Angels Are Different: You probably never expected an angel-like teddy bear who preaches to his students to do good to appear, even though he allows Monokuma to do evil things because he is too weak to fight against him.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: With Diablokuma, on behalf of the Mastermind, on why Future Foundation is just as bad as the Ultimate Despair.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His visor is red, and he serves Monokuma.
  • Signature Laugh: "Hohohohoho".
  • Winged Humanoid: Well... more like a winged bear.

    Diablokuma

Moderator of Dark Future

"Soitenly boss. Listen up kid, and listen well. The name's Diablokuma and you'd do best to remember it, ya dig? I'm nowhere near the boss's standards of mischief but I'm pretty bad myself when I have to be, so it would be in your best interest to stay on my good side. Because I'll let you on a little secret, I have a nasty temper. So try any funny business and you'll be sleeping with the fishes, comprende?"

One of the moderators of Ultimate Danganronpa 3: Despair's Final Challenge. He looks after the "Dark Future" Group. He is a robotic devil-based teddy bear. He is Halokuma's twin brother and Monokuma's younger brother.

He is an Original Character of the fanfiction's writer, "Maestro Infinite".

    Alter Ego

AI of Chihiro Fujisaki

"Hello Master, it's been a while since we last spoke. I was starting to think that you forgot about me. I guess I was just worried for nothing though, eh?"

Alter Ego is an artificial intelligence that was created by Chihiro Fujisaki during Danganronpa. They are a member of Future Foundation and the one who looks after the Neo Wolrd Program. In a sense, they are Usami's and Chiaki Nanami (AI)'s sibling. They are helping Akira and Izuru in deciphering the encryption on the files about the contestants in the current Mutual Killing Game.

They are a canon character from the Hope's Peak Academy Saga of the Danganronpa series.

  • Artificial Intelligence: In courtesy of Chihiro Fujisaki.
  • Call-Back: Deciphering files that are connected to the participants of the Killing Game.
  • The Cutie: Justified by Akira suffering a nosebleed from seeing how cute the AI is.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: No, they didn't do anything perverted. They were just oblivious on the reason why Akira suffered a nosebleed. And that reason? Akira thought Alter Ego was too cute!
  • Meaningful Name: "Alter Ego", as lampshaded by Izuru, can refer to being a representation of Chihiro's inner self.

    Usami/Monomi

Extra Moderator One

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/usami.jpg
Magical Miracle Girl * Usami
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/monomi.jpg
Monomi

"Love! Love! Love! Love! Love! Love to the reeeeeeeeesssssssssssssccccccccccccuuuuuuuuuuuueeeee!"

One of the extra moderators of Ultimate Danganronpa 3: Despair's Final Challenge. She was the teacher and one of the observers of the Remnants of Despairs during their rehabilitation in the Neo World Program, as well as a member of Future Foundation. Now she is acting as a teacher for the Extracurricular students. She is a robotic stuffed bunny. And she is the forced adopted sister of Halokuma, Diablokuma, and Monokuma.

She is a canon character from the Hope's Peak Academy Saga of the Danganronpa series.

  • Artificial Intelligence: A given if you played Danganronpa 2.
  • Baby Talk: The way she talks is childish.
  • Bunnies for Cuteness: Her childishness, manner of speech, and appearance.
  • Call-Back: A couple of her scenes:
    • One would be when she gave the Extracurricular students her Usami key chains, just like with Class 77-B in Danganronpa 2. And just like before, the students don't find them pleasing and throws them away, much to Usami's pain. She complained that this was worse than last time. Fortunately for her, unlike last time, a few of them did keep the key chains (Beigoma and Mukuro).
    • She gets turned into Monomi again.
    • And she gets executed by Monokuma's Monobeasts, again. Only how they executed her this time was very different and creative.
  • Catchphrase: "Love, love".
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: Who could forget about the teacher of Class 77-B during Danganronpa 2? She's Chiaki Nanami (AI) sister, and was forced into being an adopted sister to Monokuma.
  • Love Freak: She wants her students to find love, hope, and happiness.
  • Magical Girl: As Usami.
  • Meaningful Rename: Her name turns to "Monomi" when she loses one of her eyes.
  • No-Respect Guy: Even with the Extracurricular students, she still has problems getting respect.
  • Righteous Rabbit: She fights for justice, hope, and love.
  • Series Mascot: With Monokuma.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Back in Danganronpa 2, AI Junko (as Monokuma) accuses Usami/Monomi of liking to eat moss balls. She denies it, saying that she only likes looking at them.

    4th Moderator (WARNING: UNMARKED SPOILERS

Miaya Gekkogahara (AI)

Former Ultimate Therapist

Extra Moderator Two

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miaya_transparent.png

"There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make is softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We cano roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharper it to crystal clarity."
Miaya Gekkogahara (AI) quoting from "The Outer Limits"

One of the extra moderators of Ultimate Danganronpa 3: Despair's Final Challenge. She was the head of Future Foundation's 7th Branch, and a survivor of the Tragedy while she was a student in Hope's Peak Academy, under the title "Ultimate Therapist". At some point in time she worked with Chihiro and Yasuke to make the "Neo World Program".

She was killed by Monaca Towa in the Future Arc of Danganronpa 3, but she left behind an AI version of herself in case of emergency. Her AI has infiltrated the Despairadise Game of the current Mastermind, and acting as an extra moderator along with Usami/Monomi.

She is a canon character from the Hope's Peak Academy Saga of the Danganronpa series. However, her personality and a lot of her history or character will be designed by the fanfiction's writer "Maestro Infinite", since most of Miaya's character isn't revealed in the original series.

  • Artificial Intelligence: The real version of her is dead, but she left an AI version of herself in case of emergencies. But since her AI is technically part of Usami's programming she still uses the rabbit to talk for her.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: It's not easy to forget that this poor girl got offed by Monaca Towa and then gets replaced by a fake robot version of her by Monaca.
  • Meaningful Name: Her given name, "Miaya" (美彩), means "beautiful color", while her last name, "Gekkogahara" (月光ヶ原), means "field of the moonlight".
  • Not Quite Dead: She was killed, but she left behind an AI of herself in a copy of Usami's programming, with her personality and all of her memories fully intact.
  • Techno Wizard: Well, she was able to make an AI of herself.
  • Walking Spoiler: She is deeply tied into the plot of both Danganronpa 2 and Danganronpa 3.
