    US Marshals Service

Scott Turner Jr.

Played by: Josh Peck

The son of the late Scott Turner Sr., and a buttoned-down and ambitious U.S. Marshall rookie.
  • Generation Xerox: The younger Scott Turner is a compulsive neat freak much like his late father. His orderly existence is upended when he's forced to take care of a dog he never wanted in the first place, and like the elder Scott, he grows to love the dog.
  • Oblivious to Love: Erica has an extremely transparent crush on Turner, yet every single one of her signals flies right over his head.
  • The Stoic: He doesn't believe in a lot of touchy-feely stuff like "vibes" and when asked what he likes for fun mentions Swiffering. The idea of him loosening up is a theme of the show.

Hooch

A destructive French mastiff whom Scott inherits from his late father.
  • Walking Disaster Area: Where Hooch goes, disaster follows. The dog will chew up and swallow almost anything and bowl over everything in his way to get to any treats he smells.

Jessica Baxter

Played by: Carra Patterson

Scott's partner on the force.
  • Pregnant Badass: Jessica is heavily pregnant, but can easily keep up with her partner and the rest of the U.S. Marshals. In "A Good Day to Dog Hard", she and Xavier take down an armed terrorist-while handcuffed, no less!

Xavier Watkins

Played by: Brandon Jay MacLaren

  • Actor Allusion: Brandon Jay's been a law enforcer from the days of Power Rangers S.P.D..
  • Badges and Dog Tags: A discharged Marine who later joins the USMS.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: It's suggested that he lost several of his squadmates in the USMC when he was deployed during the early days of Iraqi occupation.
    • "Lost and Hound" suggests, with some Black Comedy mixed in, that he also saw a lot of things when he was operational in Afghanistan. His Surfer Dude attitude was one of the ways Xavier did to cope with the trauma.
  • Surfer Dude: Xavier is perpetually laid back and throws shakas at those he approves of. He even suggests that Jessica should name her baby "Kāmohoaliʻi" after a Hawaiian shark god. "In the Line of Fur" suggests that his attitude is a way of coping with bad things that happened to him in the past.

Trent Havelock

Played by: Matt Havelock

Erica Mouniere

Played by: Vanessa Lengles

  • A Day in the Limelight: "Lost and Hound" has Erica join up with Scott Jr. and Xavier to locate her missing training dog, Angel when she was dognapped.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She is easily one of the sweetest characters in the show, but when her beloved dog Angel is dognapped in "Lost and Hound", she goes on the warpath to get her back.
  • Nice Girl: She's able to stand Scott's frustration on coping with Hooch.

James Mendez

Played by: Anthony Ruivivar

  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Didn't want Hooch in the USMS buildings, but agreed to have Scott and Hooch work together when they took down a rogue FBI agent.

    Family

Scott Turner Sr.

Played by: Tom Hanks (film), Unknown (series)

  • Killed Off for Real: Scott Sr. is deceased by the events of this series. Though most fans of the movie find killing off Scott Sr. to be upsetting, and rather unnecessary, it still makes sense due to the fact that Tom Hanks is a major movie star so the odds of him returning were slim anyway.

Emily Turner

Laura Turner

  • Amateur Sleuth: Willing to investigate things such as the death of her father that are out of depth because those things are suppose to be done by the police.

Matthew Garland

    Criminals
