    The Pines Family

  • Badass Family
  • Empowered Badass Normal: Thanks to "The Magicing", they all have magic, not just those of Erza's blood.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Erza, Dipper, and Mabel all share a love for cake, and are driven into a murderous rage whenever someone eats all the cake and fails to leave a note. A later chapter reveals that the females of the Pines family also have a tendency to violently react to Ichiya's presence.

Natsu "Dipper" Pines

  • The Ace: Smart, kind, and badass. Mabel notes that once he had a proper teacher, it only took him a month or so to get better at Magic than her.
  • Child Prodigy: With Letter Magic. It only takes him a month to master Solid Script and by the end of the summer he's mastered that, Jutsu Shiki and Dark Écriture.
  • Ship Tease: With Pacifica.

Mabel Pines

Erza Pines (née Scarlet)

  • Action Mom
  • Amicable Exes: While the initial split was nasty, she and Alec do eventually patch things up and remain friends, with Alec even attending her wedding to Jellal.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: With Jellal.
  • Education Mama: While not on the level of Chi-chi, Erza is very adamant that the children of Fairy Tail's Earth Branch get an education. Justified by her own experiences on Earth, where her lack of formal education and documentation meant that she couldn't get a steady job.
  • Mrs. Robinson: Often mistaken as this when people outside of her immediate family and the guild learn of her relationship with Jellal. In reality, Erza cares little for his age — she has loved him since she was a child, and now that they finally have the chance to be together, she won't let anything stand in the way of that.

Stanley "Stan" Pines

  • Blackmail: He is not adverse to blackmailing a famous billionaire.
  • Con Man: Yes. He does most of his illegal activities during the winter, and Erza has long since given up trying to stop him and advises Ford that he do the same.
  • Jack-of-All-Trades: His Red Baron post-Time Skip. He didn't spealize in any one type of magic — rather, he has Ford download into his mind whatever magic he needs to know and uses that.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold
  • Like a Son to Me: Cherishes Erza as the daughter he never had, and sees her kids as his grandchildren.
  • Papa Wolf: You do not touch his family.

Stanford "Ford" Pines

Alec Pines

  • Amicable Exes: While the initial split was nasty, he does eventually patch things up with Erza and the two remain friends.
  • The Atoner: He enters the story proper with his new girlfriend after deciding he wants to make amends with the rest of his family.
  • Black Sheep: While he isn't a complete outcast, he is easily the most disliked member of the Pines family and for a while has strained relationships with all of them sans Mabel (being Mabel) and Ford (since they don't know each other all that well).
  • Hidden Badass: While his marriage to Erza wasn't exactly "happy", that didn't stop him from picking up a few things, which came in handy during Weirdmageddon.

Jellal Pines (née Fernandes)

  • The Atoner
  • Childhood Friend Romance: With Erza.
  • Got Volunteered: In "The Stanchurian Candidate", he is unwillingly drafted as a candidate after a client broke into his room at the dorms and threw his bandanna in (It Makes Sense in Context), and finds out that he can't quit. Ironically, he turns out to be the frontrunner as all his attempts to get the voters to not vote for him and vote for Stan are viewed as Reverse Psychology, portraying him as a humble and kind. Not helping things is the fact that he is by far the most qualified candidate, being a former politician (which actually caused him to despise politics). He becomes the runner-up and almost becomes mayor when Stan is disqualified for his criminal record, only to be disqualified himself (much to his relief) due to failing to file the appropriate paperwork.
  • Guilt Complex: A massive one. He hates himself so much that the reason why he didn't try to get Mabel to like him is because he felt undeserving of Erza's love and wanted to be punished somehow (ironically, this admission is why Mabel finally accepts their relationship). In fact, the biggest reason why Jellal finally took the plunge and asked Erza out was because he realized that pushing her away was hurting her as well, and he hates the idea of hurting her more than he wants to punish himself.
  • The Maiden Name Debate: After marrying Erza, he takes the last name of Pines so he won't be extradited to Earthland.
  • Workaholic: When he was avoiding Erza and the twins. He took so many jobs that the guild was forced to stage an intervention. This came to bite him in the ass in "The Stanchurian Candidate", where its revealed that he's done a job for nearly every citizen in town, making them love him even more.

Susan "Sue" Pines (née Peterson)

  • Fangirl: A massive Harry Potter fan girl. Her reaction to getting magic is squee loudly and immediately sign up to help J. K. Rowling build a Real Life Hogwarts.

Millianna "Millie" Pines

Simone Pines

    The Mystery Shack

Wendy Corduroy

Jesus "Soos" Ramirez

  • Odd Friendship: With Laxus, who he allows to crash at his home while he is still ex-communicated from the guild.
  • Weapon of Choice: He uses his Wood Maker magic to form weapons from various anime.

Laxus Dreyar

  • Butt-Monkey
  • Moment Killer: In "Roadside Attraction", he walks in on Jellal and Erza getting it on.
  • Odd Friendship: With Soos.
  • Oddly Overtrained Security: He's been banned from the guild until Makarov is ready to forgive him, so he gets a job as the Shack's security guard. Since Laxus is an S-Class Fairy Tail Wizard that uses Lighting Dragon Slaying Magic (which Stan disguises using a dummy tazer) guarding a rundown tourist trap, this immediately comes into play. Even after he rejoins the guild, he still works at the Shack.

  • The Rival: To Elfman over "manliness".
